Food - Excellent, all home-made with passion and attention. Very arranging for food allergies and intolerance, every major allergen is indicated on the menu and if you warn the waitresses, they will immediately arrange. Service - Amazing. As soon as we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the owner and redirected to our table where we were served a free glass of prosseco and olive oil bruschetta (or its gluten free version if you ask!) before ordering anything. Everyone was very smiley and kind. Atmosphere - We felt right at home, as if we were part of the family. The room can be a bit lively depending on attendance but it contributes to the warm feeling of sharing a meal with a big family.

We planned to go to Varenna but it was too touristic and busy and parking was hopeless. On the way by the lake we found this restaurant , with a free parking space. Kids friendly . What stricked me the most was that the old man explained to me that his daughter is the sixth generation of this restaurant who happens to be the chef. Still taken care of as if its new and you could see the love towards this place. Staff was great and food was super.

If there were more stars to give, Il Crotto would get them all from me. Il Crotto does not offer food, they offer you an entire experience. Everything about the place, the people and the food was perfect. From the moment we walked in we were greeted, seated and served with so much warmth, that I didn’t want to leave. The food was so delicious that I felt the need to slow down so that I can enjoy every bite of it. I truly recommend this restaurant to anyone. There you will find the best pasta, and then nicest people. Thank you to everyone in Il Crotto for making our time there so memorable. I will be coming back 🫶🏻

Il Crotto became our favourite place to have lunch and dinner during our 2-week stay in Lierna. Very friendly, kind and nice staff, excellent food and overall pleasant atmosphere. We tried most of their foods and enjoeyed all of them without exception, from starters to desserts They also offer gluten free options and as a celiac you feel safe, as they also watch out for contaminatiom. A lot of locals are also coming there to eat, which is definitely ia confirmation of their qualitative food and services. We plan to have another stay in Lierna and definitely we will choose again Il Crotto. Highly recommended!

The food was amazing! I'm still thinking about it. One of our best meals in Italy! I had the basil cream pasta and my husband had the steak we also got tiramisu for dessert. It was delicious and the service was great. We got there early and they sat us early.

We loved this place. The ladies serving were very helpful and friendly. Food was amazing. They have a grill at the back of the restaurant where you can see them cooking your meal over charcoal - the only way to cook!

This was my favorite restaurant in Italy! delicious gluten free bread & large portion sizes for food. Was greeted by charming staff & treated amazing during our meal! also had free champagne and meringue for dessert! Definitely stop here on your next trip!

One of the best restaurants in Lierna! The owners were incredibly nice and even offered us a ride through the rain. The food is amazing and delicious! Don't miss the chance to eat here!
