    The cultural hub of Shantiniketan. A lot of activities in Chatimtola, amrakunja and places around during Poush mela. Specially the parikrama of the campus with traditional Brahma sangeet is really enchanting. However, all these are activities during the Poush mela only.

    Chaiti is inside the Patha Bhavana Campus of Santiniketan. When Chaiti was made Nandalal Basu was the director of Kala Bhavana, the fine arts part of the Visva-Bharati university. The Chaiti, which was built as per Buddhist culture with the mixture of Clay & Tar and designed by Surendra nath Kar & Nandalal Basu, is a glass case used for changing exhibitions, stood in a brick-and-mud, shrine-like structure. New handicrafts made by students are displayed here. In Nandalal Basu's delicate rendering, the Chaiti is partially hidden by a large tree with spindly branches.

    It is a wonderful clay construction of Santiniketan. It is actually a notice board modeled on a typical mud house of rural Bengal. Its canopy is also made of mud and tarred. In the middle of the "Chaitgriha" is a glass box. Its door can be opened. It is not known whose innovative idea this is. It was first built in 1934 by artists Surendra Nath Kar and Acharya Nandalal Bose.

    Small house tupe structure and very good place. The name of 'Chaiti' have significance because here the roads meets together from both side in a point. That is why its name as 'Chaiti' means Four.
