Videography is not allowed only photoshoot is allowed. You don't have to buy tickets for shyam rai temple and Jor bangla temple if you buy tickets for Ras Mancha. At a distance of 1.5 km from Bishnupur Bus Station, Rasmancha is a historical monument located in the town of Bishnupur, West Bengal. Surrounded by a well-maintained garden, it is the oldest brick temple and the only temple of its kind in the whole country. Rasmancha was built by Malla King Bir Hambir in 1600 CE. The temple has a unique and unparalleled structure. This monument stands on a raised square laterite plinth with a pyramidal superstructure. The temple is surrounded by smaller Bengali-styled hut-like structures. The temple has one inner chamber housing the idols of Radha-Krishna. The inner sanctum of the temple is enclosed by three circumambulatory galleries which are surmounted by a colossal pyramidal structure. Further, these majestic pyramidal structures are embellished with exquisite terracotta work and motifs. It is enclosed by a passageway. There are some big cannons that date back to the Malla period. Rasmancha was built in order to enable a mass scale worship of the deities during the Ras festival. This was a significant festival during the reign of the Malla kings. During this festival, images of deities from across the town were brought to this temple and venerated. The Vaishnava Ras festival was held till 1932 CE here before it was converted to a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). As this mammoth structure lights up during the night, it provides a mesmerizing sight to the devotees. Visitors can get the entry tickets for all the Bishnupur temples from Rasmancha including this one. Else, visitors are not allowed to enter inside the temples. Timings: 6 AM - 6 PM Entry Fee: Rs. 5 for Person

The architecture of this place is truly very mesmerizing. The intricate terracotta designs on the walls and the arches are something really grand. Great place for clicking some really good pictures. Try and get your tickets through the website, the counter is extremely crowded. I was informed that pre-covid there used to be a light and sound show in the evening however now that has been cancelled due to less funds and that's really sad to hear considering this is such a beautiful place. But there is a chance of that restarting in the future. So do ask around if that happens when you visit.

An ancient temple of Radha Krishna. Now treated as national heritage sight. There is no figurines of any deity. All are removed to Madhabganj or other places as now the festival Ras is organizing there. Most of the engravings of outside walls have faded but that of the inside are intact. Though it's look awesome from outside.

A enviable place. Online payment system is not working properly for booking tickets. It is one of the most famous tourist sites in the region and was built by the Malla monarchs of Bishnupur to celebrate the Ras festival. The temple is composed of red bricks and is intricately carved. The Rasmancha is a one-of-a-kind and spectacular landmark that should be seen by anybody interested in Indian history and culture.

Rasmancha, Bishnupur: A Marvel of Terracotta Splendor and Historical Significance. Rasmancha, built during the 17th century by King Vir Hambir, stands as a unique architectural marvel in Bishnupur. Originally constructed as a temple to house the deities of Bishnupur during the annual Ras festival, it later evolved into a significant historical monument. The structure underwent modifications over the years, and its distinctive pyramidal form with terracotta embellishments reflects the rich cultural synthesis of the Malla rulers. Rasmancha's architectural grandeur is a testament to the ingenuity of the Malla kings. The pyramidal structure, crowned with a pinnacle, is adorned with intricate terracotta panels depicting episodes from the epics, mythological narratives, and scenes from daily life. The meticulous craftsmanship of the terracotta work showcases the artistic finesse of the artisans of that era. Rasmancha served a unique religious function during its early years. It was designed to host the Ras festival, an event where the deities from various temples were brought together for a grand congregation. The circular open-air structure allowed devotees to witness the divine dance of the deities during this festival, making it a distinctive architectural creation in the Indian subcontinent. The terracotta panels that adorn Rasmancha are a visual feast for art connoisseurs and history enthusiasts alike. These panels narrate stories from Hindu mythology, including scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The intricate detailing and vibrant colors of the terracotta work create a mesmerizing tapestry that transports visitors to a bygone era. Rasmancha stands as a symbol of cultural synthesis, blending Hindu and Islamic architectural elements. The pyramidal form is reminiscent of Islamic architecture, while the terracotta ornamentation reflects the rich traditions of Bengal. This fusion of influences showcases the inclusive ethos of the Malla rulers, who sought to create a unique cultural identity for Bishnupur. The conservation efforts dedicated to preserving Rasmancha are commendable. The Archaeological Survey of India and local authorities have undertaken initiatives to protect and maintain this historical gem. The well-preserved structure allows present-day visitors to witness the glory of Rasmancha and appreciate its cultural and historical significance. For tourists and history enthusiasts, Rasmancha offers a captivating experience. The guided tours and informative signage provide valuable insights into the historical context, architectural nuances, and the cultural significance of this iconic monument. Climbing the stairs to the elevated platform offers panoramic views of Bishnupur, adding to the overall charm of the visit. Rasmancha in Bishnupur is not merely a structure; it is a living testament to the rich tapestry of Indian history and culture. My visit to this historical marvel was a transformative experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone eager to explore the intersection of art, history, and spirituality in the heart of Bishnupur.

A beautiful structure made with mix of several cultural influences, with Bishnupur's very own 'Pora matir' bricks. As name suggests, it was a stage for Ras, with 108 murtis of Radhakrishna in between the arches like structured gates. Also, if u are going to Bishnupur, do visit this place FIRST ,as the ticket you get from the counter here, allows u to visit the remaining 8-9 spots in Bishnupur. Also u can take a local guide if u are in Bishnupur for the first time. They charged us ₹350.

Rasmancha, the oldest brick temple was established by the King Hambir in 1600 AD. The majestic temple is architecturally so unique and unparalleled that it is one of its kind in the whole Bengal as well as the country. You will get to witness a heritage that is enthroned with a pyramidal superstructure and is blessed with three circumbulatory galleries, tranquil pillars and mysterious arches with terracotta lotus motif. In the presence of daylight, when you will be walking through the galleries, you will feel history whispering in your ears by the language of light and shade.

It's a commendable effort for a small place like Bishnupur. While the Terracotta collection in the main hall are routine antiques, really liked the effort put in for preserving the legacy of a local family of classical musicians including old recordings. Wish other places in India also paid as much attention to the importance of preserving traditional arts. The textile section as well as the one promoting Terracotta art by a local artist are also good. Overall should be paid a visit atleast once. It's at a walking distance from most places of attraction as well as the government tourist lodge. Entry fees are minimal. Remember to check for the entry to the music and art galleries. The day we went signs were missing and the staff showed us the stairs to the same.

( Mullaraj founded this stage in about 1600 BC at Birahambi. All the Radha Krishna Brahma of Vishnupur in the annual Ras festival of Mallaraja was brought here for public philosophy. From 1600 to 1932, the Ras festival was celebrated. This is an innovative architecture which can not be seen anywhere in India. The altar below is made of Makra stone and the top brick structure. The upper part of the mausoleum is like pyramidal, the middle part is like running Bengal and the arches below are like Islamic or Muslim architecture ).

The entry point to the temple city (মন্দির নগরী) BISHNUPUR. This ancient piece of architectural marvel tells a lot about the ubiquitous technical knowledge in Malla-yuga (মল্ল যুগ), the tenure of Malla dynasty. Features: 1. Thin yet tough bricks. These are merely ⅓rd in thickness as compared to modern earthen bricks. 2. The super-duper precision in engineering. Every row of gates (দুয়ার) are perfectly collinear, precise upto a few centimeters only. 3. Similarly, small ventilators in the inner walls are perfectly aligned in a straight line. 4. The characteristic brick red color - the color that you may call the official 'Bishnupurian' Temple Hue (although each temple of Bishnupur originally had an additional layer of lime-coat, in Bengali চুন সুরকি, at present all of it has washed away due to climatic changes over the decades. Thus, showing up the inner bricks. Same is the case with Rash Mancha) 5. The frontier lawn is full of tender grasses. This adds a great liveliness to the site Additional info: For last few months (update as of November 2021), ticket booking is MANDATORY ONLINE to maintain COVID Protocol and also to avoid the hassle of queue. The links and QR Codes for the same are available at the outside billboards. Also thanks to ASI for having arranged recent chemical washes to restore the grandeur of the architecture. Bishnupur administration have repaired the lights too. This reinforces a lovely scene at this heritage site even during the dark time.

King Hambhir established Rasmancha in Bishnupur in 1600 AD. The temple was used to exhibit all the local idols to the public for adoring during the very famous “Ras Festival” which was incarcerated in the year 1932. Rasmancha stands on a square-shaped elevated laterite plinth along with a Pyramidal Superstructure. Coming to the exceptional architecture, the length and breadth of this temple is measured as 24.5 meters and the height is 12.5 meters. The upper part of the temple is made with bricks and the base of the temple is made of laterite stone. The upper structure of Rasmancha looks like a beautifully constructed pyramid made with bricks. The middle part of the temple bears a resemblance to conventional Bengali huts and the arches along the lower area resemble Islamic architecture.

I was amazed to see the beauty and grace of the place. How the ancient people created this masterpiece with limited amount of techniques and machines. The hard work, rich culture and wide range of creative mind at that time made me more curious about the artist who made this possible. I was totally mesmerised to see the artistic expression of this mandir. Loved it totally. A great place to visit indeed.

One of the most popular places to visit while in Bishnupur. An interesting place for architecture enthusiasts as its structure has influence from pyramids, Bengali style and islamic arches. Perfect to visit around sunset time to witness the mystifying sunlight around the long galleries. It was built by Mallabhum king Bir Hambir and is currently maintained by ASI. It requires a ramp to make the structure wheelchair friendly.

A totally different architectural piece among all the similar types of temples in the temple town of Bishnupur. The alter is made with stone and the other struture with bricks. The pyramidical structure is totally unique in India. The terakotta structures have faded with time here. It has 108 doorways and wad built in the era of Bir Hambir in 1600. And I see this structure everyday from my college building. 😊 The ticket is 25/- per head from the counter and 20/- from ASI Website.

The Rasmancha  is a historical temple located at Bishnupur, Bankura district, West Bengal, India. It was commissioned by Mallabhum king Hambir Malla Dev (Bir Hambir) in 1600 CE.Length and breadth of this temple is 24.5 meter and the height is 12.5 meter. The base or altar of the temple is made of laterite stone and upper part is made with bricks. Upper structure looks like a pyramid. Middle part resembles Bengali huts and the arches of the lower part resembles Islamic architecture. During the Vaishnava Ras festival, all the Radha Krishna idols of Bishnupur town used to be brought here to be worshipped by the citizens. The annual festival was held till 1932. I haired a toto which charged Rs 400(100×4) for visiting tourist attractions places. It will take 3-4 hours to visit all attractions at Bishnupur. If you take a ticket for visiting Rashmancha, that is enough for visiting all terracotta temples. So keep the ticket safely with you.

ok, so the thing is that this historical structure have total of 108 windows, and total of 8 corridors, in which 5 are visible and the other 3 are locked in the middle chamber, all the windows were the place to keep radha Krishna idol ie. total of 108 idols and were worshipped once every year at RASH PURNIMA, and the corridors were made for the people to go around the structure to embrace all the idols. a good place to visit, but strictly no videography is allowed,

We feel immensely proud when it comes to the rich, cultural heritage of our country, The oldest brick temple of india, Rasmancha is no more a temple today. It means the structure has now been converted into a protected monument by the Archaeological survey of india (ASI). I loved it 😍

Historic place dated back to 15th-16th Century. Beautiful architecture made with bricks and still looks the same, though some refurbishment have been made. Well care taken by Government of WB and Archeological Survey of India. This is the place where you can buy tickets to visit all other places and the ticket cost is 25 only.

Unique architectural grandour, with intricate terracotta plaques. Awesome aesthetic beauty, with lovely garden maintained by ASI. Historically, the capital of Malla kings of Bishnupur, from sixteenth to eighteenth century structures of their Darbar, residence, temples, fortification. Wonderful experience.

A perfect symmetry; beautiful place. Here you have to purchase a ticket. With this ticket you can visit the other temples for free. So it's better advised to visit this place first and then go for others.

It is a must visit if you travel to Bishnupur, for it is possibly the first terracotta temple built there by the Malla rulers. It was built by Bir Hambir Singha in 16th century. As the name suggests, it is a Raas-Mancha. Most of the carvings have weathered away but close observation will reveal patterns and some designs and motifs

This place is neat and clean and well maintained by Archeological survey of India.Entry fee is ₹25 and extra ₹25 for videography. You have to buy tickets by scanning a QR and paying online. We were 7 friends visiting around last week of March. Surreal experience to say the least seeing this ancient monument. MUST VISIT for each and every traveling aficionado.

Just spectacular! Ticket price is ₹25 only per person. You don't need to buy the guide booklets getting sold in the entrace. Just google the history and read the information provided by the Archaeological survey of India which is standing just infront of this outstanding architecture of 16th century CE built by the Malla king Bir Hambir.

Amazing...... I first time visit Bankura specially Bishnupur and felt the eagerness to visit it once again. Don't know even after visiting again, may I have the same wish again of visiting the place. Whatever the Ras Mancha was designed beautifully with a great techniques of three layer of heat diffence and made of sand stones, so in a sunny day out side is hot too much but inside is very comfortable. The compound was also well decorated and cleaned enough. A large National flag was there there to welcome you. Remember, capturing of still photographs are only allowed here, videography is prohibited

What an architecture and history. In the past, all the deities of Radha and Krishna used to be brought there at the time of Rasa utsav and a big Rasa arrangement was done. The ticket price is Rs 25 for adults, free for children up to 15 yrs. This ticket includes two other temples in Bishnupur: Shyam Rain temple and Jirebangla temple. Parking is outside the Rasamsncha beside the service road. In winter time, you will find crowds and queue. There are chargeable guides also.

This is one of the major tourist destinations of Bishnupur. This square shaped magnificent structure is built on a laterite plinth. This work of art was built in 1600 CE by the ruler of Malla Dynasty named Bir Hambir. Take your time to enjoy the archeological brilliance of this place. There is twenty five rupees entry fees to visit this place. With this entry ticket one could visit all other renowned temples as well.
