After Derwent Dam, you get to Howden Dam. Definitely worth the walk if you have time, however it’s just another dam. The colours are well and truly stunning in the autumn here.

Absolutely beautiful place for a walk/ride. Plenty of trails, easy and hard, a lot of places to park for free or you can park at the cafΓ© a fee. There's toilets and a bike rental shop too.

Great for walks and cycling. Spectacular views. A seriously good Dam for fans of water management. Tip - The visitor centre parking nearby fills up very quickly. So get here early on weekends.

Busy place, but there are so many options where to go and sit or walk around that you will always find some quiet place where you can enjoy stunning views and feel connected to the nature. I am still impressed with a dam, so massive and admirable.

Great place to walk, run, cycle, picnic. Plenty of walks only limited by imagination and fitness. Historically important and interesting to learn of its history and what areas it provides for today.

The dams in the UK offer impressive engineering feats and scenic surroundings. They play a crucial role in water management, renewable energy generation, and flood control. The reservoirs formed by these dams often provide picturesque settings for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and boating. However, accessibility and recreational facilities can vary between different dam sites. Exploring a UK dam can provide an interesting blend of natural beauty and technological marvel, making it a worthwhile visit for those interested in both engineering and outdoor pursuits.

Great place for walk with kids or some beginner hiking if you choose one of side paths. Too easy for advanced. Perfect for kids and bikes.

Good views over the water, a good place to walk all year round. The Eastside track is open for visitors to use,the tarmac road side is closed from Fairholmes to Westend bridge for logging work. Contact the visitor centre for latest updates.

Older dam where they have prohibited walking onto it. One can still go near the other sights at the dam such as dam busters memorial and nearby walk to the creek. Parking is plenty though we went on a weekday so not sure if weekends are busier. They also shut the drive on weekends as per the public notice . Along the way there’s spots to go see the lake and enjoy natural beauty. Definitely worth stopping !

The damn is beautiful, and the nature around is magnificent! It was an amazing day spent there. There is a proper parking place in case you don’t want to park by the road.
