Great food at a great price the pies are to die for and deserve special mention. Lovely people. The only gripe I had was the heating was off and the toilets were bitterly cold though decently clean. Make sure to book ahead as the dining room is relatively small

We stayed here not long ago, just a short one night getaway in our motorhome. The owner was very warm and welcoming and even though they didn’t have food on that night, his wife cooked us something anyway! The site toilet block is spotless and new, I would recommend this place to anyone.

Stayed on the site at the back of the pub before. Very good spot for walking to the garden center and farm shop. The food in the pub is very good and great value for money. The staff was very friendly and happy to help.

I only review places what deserve to be reviewed, and The Shrewsbury Arms is a must,Ash is one of the most pleasant people I’ve encountered, stayed in their campsite for two nights testing my new Campervan out…….Beautiful and quite and a 30 second walk to the bar…………Been a few times to eat and drink before and always exceptional, the homemade Cheese and Onion pie is a must(delicious)…….but too be fair all the food is superb……..Good luck with the new baby Ash,you are an asset here at the Shrewsbury, see you soon Darren & Diane………..until next time and there will definitely be a next time……..

The food here is amazing! Never been before but will definitely be going back! The food is all homemade including the deserts. We had the steak and stout pie and OMG it was delicious! The pastry was really buttery and blew us away, honestly the best pie we’ve ever had! The chips were chunky and cooked to perfection, the gravy was delicious also! Then the deserts, they were amazing, classics with a unique twist, the sticky toffee pudding was delicious! The kids meal was lovely, our son usually takes ages eating his dinner but he enjoyed it so much it was the quickest he’s ever ate! Staff were so lovely, really polite, kept checking everything was ok, the manager (i assume) with the white hair was so friendly and welcoming. The staff should be really proud of their food, it was proper British country pub food and we cant wait until the next time we visit!

What a gem of a little pub. Fantastic pie! Good home cooked food and a a good selection of beer. A special mention and thank you to the lady who made up a plate picnic for our daughter. She ate every bit! Would definitely visit again when in the area.

Stayed here in Feb 22. Fabulous cosy little site. Only about 5 hard standing pitches with hook up, but lots of grass spaces without. Great views from the site over open fields. Have Alpacas (so cute) and chickens too and a lot of the field is used for the kids to play. Country pub style site with a real fireplace, that sells delicious food and Ash and his staff are super friendly and helpful. Just make sure you remember to book your table as the restaurant can get busy. Brand new shower/toilet block with hot shower, toilet and sink in a heated vanity unit - with 3 units in total. Also a double pot wash sink, elson point , Grays waste disposal and water point. Would definitely recommend this site. A little thing to mention is there is some slight road noise which may disturb some people (especially when Oulton Park race track is being used). And the nearest shop is a couple of miles away on a busy road. But that certainly won't be stopping us from booking again in the future. For us the site is perfect, we Love the place!

We’ve been staying here a few times this summer. The pitches are large and the facilities modern and clean. The pub is welcoming, clean and stocked with a good variety of beer, ales and spirits. We’ve eaten here many times and can highly recommend the menu. Favourite dishes have to be the Black Pidding starter and the Brioche icecream Burger dessert. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.

Loved the food and dessert. Great place to grab some food and drinks with friends or family. Ordered bangers&mash, cottage pie and fish&chips. All of them were great and the staff were absolutely sweet. It was also very close to our camping site.

We were staying local and walked to the pub on Sunday. Food was delicious. We had a Sunday Roast, pie of the day and a kids meal. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way for us. There was a dj set up outside to keep the kids entertained too. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

The pub is extremely dog friendly with all dogs on leads and controlled by their owners, however whilst taking my dog outside for a quick walk around the garden area, the “pub dog” a Husky was outside off lead with no collar, and within a split second attacked my dog, piercing his skin in two places around the neck. Which ever member of staff the Husky “pub dog” belongs to, please try and be as responsible as your customers. Even more astonishing was to find out after the attack from some regular customers was it’s not the first time this has happened! “Pub Dog” photo enclosed for people to be aware of. The big puncture wound still healing, hopefully all will be good. Veterinary bill currently £506 but we are insured thankfully, and their care has been fantastic, unlike the Shrewsbury Arms careless attitude.

Took my boy for a Sunday roast, food was cooked from fresh and served hot. Good quality cuts of meat and the veg cooked to perfection in my opinion also did not have to wait very long which is always a bonus. The pub has a good atmosphere and the owners/staff are very polite and accommodating. Will definitely be returning sometime soon. Highly recommended

I would like to follow up on the post made by my husband regarding the vicious dog attack of which the attacking dog was loose in the pub grounds several weeks ago. My husband is NOT a liar, the pictures tell it all. The campsite (which we have been too before) clearly marks all dogs to be in leads but seems this doesn't seem to be the case if it's the 'pub' dog. The trauma of having to go through this for a 2nd time in our dogs life is what made him so angry. It's simple instructions and care for an animal especially if they are capable of doing such damage to another dog. I would simply warn anyone (and I've told ALL my dog owning friends) to avoid this pub / campsite if they value their dogs life. £500 Plus vet bill to fix out dog. You shouldn't be allowed to own a dog if you can't control it. Please NEVER call a Customer a liar - it's bad for business. Oh and dog warden, police, Camping and Caravan club and Robinson's brewery have all been informed of the dangerous animal. Due to your non acceptance of this attack and the fact you called my husband a liar we will NOT ever step foot there again which is a shame but cannot risk our lives nor our dogs and I hope anyone who reads this with a dog takes note. Next time it could be you and your dog and you may not be so fortunate.

Dropped into the Shrewsbury Arms for an afternoon whilst staying at the camping site up the road. Ash and the team were really welcoming - it was our first visit, but it felt like we'd been going in for years! Highly recommend the steak and stout pie too!

First came here in 2015 the food was top notch then and it’s just as good now living on the border of St Helens and Wigan it’s safe to say I know my Pies, the pies on the menu here are to die for. Well worth a visit to the area just for the food the bar staff are friendly and will have a chat other reviews about bar staff being unfriendly and this being a Locals pub are total bs. Music selection is outstanding aswell (GOD BLESS THE BAND)

A fantastic pub that caters for all. 6 adults and 5 dogs all booked in for New Year's Day lunch. Food and chat was first class. Ideally located for several camp/touring sites. Will definitely visit again if in the area.

We booked in for a meal as we always have a pub lunch after remembrance sunday service, we haven't eaten here for a few years and thought we would go back, the food was absolutely fantastic and I must say very reasonable prices for the quality. I like the atmosphere here its layed back and feels comfortable. The icing on the cake was when it came time to pay our bill I was informed that the owner had removed my meal from the bill as I was a British army veteran. I was so surprised . If the owner reads this review please can I say thank you for your generous appreciation.

The landlord was definitely born to be behind a bar- the customer service was excellent and he was so friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble- the food was awesome, with generous portions and gluten free options were available. Lovely coal fire, very friendly atmosphere and nice choice of beers. We'll definitely be back and plan to stay at the campsite

Really good home cooked food, staff all super friendly and the locals all seemed nice and had a chat with us and the kids. Booking on a Saturday is essential as we had to sit near the bar as all the tables were booked, turned out to be good though as the atmosphere was great!

Lovely experience. My husband and I visited on a Tuesday looking forward to a meal only to find they don't cook on a Tuesday! The landlord then said his wife would cook for us, how lovely was that. Thank you so much, will be back 😊

Fantastic place to camp - toilet/shower rooms are new and spotless. Ash the landlord is a top bloke, really freindly and helpful even though we turned up really late. We'll definitely be back, hopefully with time to sample the food at the pub next time. Highly recommend

The food was sub par, i ordered scampi and fries. There was more batter than anything and the fries were really salty. My wife order gammon which was litterally dripping with fat and chunky chips which were not fully cooked. The nacho starter i had was generally good ( a little too much salsa for me personally) the garlic mushrooms my wife had were again greasy and swimming in fat. I would not reccommend a visit. The young lady on the bar was pleasent and friendly

The dog and I stayed here 1 night on our Lands End to John O'Groats cycle ride June 2021. Lovely, pretty site, quiet, clean, friendly. Had a really scrumptious bar meal and couple of glasses of cold, crisp cider. This site was possibly my favourite on our long journey north. Such a lovely little inn and perfect camping field, we slept like logs. Would stay again if in the area :)
