Cueva de Santa Ana

Tourist attraction

👍 Place that was part of the adventures of young people in the 70s. The city's old zoo. At that time there was a version that the Santa Ana cave communicated with another that led to the fire station on 30 de Marzo Street, near Independencia Park. I was never able to verify it. People often mention cave, park,

Beautiful natural space. Reorganized to carry out open artistic activities. In 2017, by order of the elected trustee and in response to a request from residents of the park, activities there were suspended. It is a situation that has generated a dilemma because many believe it should not have been closed.

Small but beautiful Cave. I'm informed that concerts used to be held here and it looks perfect for this. I would give it more stars if it wasn't for the fact that it's trashed, scribbled on and neglected. Still, it's a nice spot.

Access is closed due to bees and danger of collapse. Everything is very neglected, but the rest of the park is beautiful for children.

It is a quiet and wonderful place, excellent to go with family, friends and groups. It is inside the Ibero-American park, which not only makes for a pleasant stay but also full of fun, you can do exercises, meditate, celebrate birthdays, weddings or other activities, in short it adapts to what one is looking for at the moment. They do music activities, there are those who go to rehearse a play or a film and it is quite entertaining. I would say that the Santa Ana cave is a pleasant place within a city that moves at a fast pace.

In 1966 this cave located in the old Dominican Zoo had their western most entrance 25 meters directly across a cage hosting a pair of gorillas. A very wild male know as "Buche" and it's female partner. The cave could be reach by an 7 to 8 feet drop hole. This hole was covered around 1972. The Santa Ana cave consisted in a series of large interior chambers (probably 7 or 8) , connected by tunnels of various levels of difficulty. The cave ended right across from the fire department located in Avenida Mella in proximity to the Parque Independencia. It was a común caving experience for boy scouts at the time, and some dump crazy kids like myself from the La Salle College.

Cave and rock formation inside the park. Supposed to be protected and can't go down without permission most times. There are faces carved onto the rocks.

Part of the San Andreas fault, a network of caves that extends to the South viewpoint, and probably beyond... Simply magical!!
