(Translated by Google) It is a very cozy place, apart from historical, where you can spend an afternoon with your family, exercise and even ride bicycles. For which they have a couple of beers 🍺 and an incredible breeze. (Original) Es un lugar muy acogedor, aparte de histórico, donde puedes pasar una tarde en familia, hacer ejercicio y hasta montar bicicletas. Para lo que toman un par de cervezas 🍺 y una brisa increíble.

Was closed to get inside. Nice windy fresh up there. To bad people buy drinks and leave the bottles and trash all over the place. Beautiful memorial monument

Worst experience ever. Last time I went with 2 little cousins and my mom because they where visiting and as soon as we parked (it's supposed to be a free public place) a guy came up to me, gave me some sort of parking ticket and was asking for 100 pesos. I told him this is a public place and he said "good luck with your car, hopefully nothing happens while you are gone". that made me mad and a said a few things to the guy that were not nice. I don't like people threatening me or my family over anything and I don't take that easily. Also, it's full of people asking for money at all times.

I loved this place, I had come before and every time I pay a visit I feel so relax. It's a place that has a very spacious space and that makes it very appropriate, because you can do lots of things like walk, meditation, do some running take a video, pics, etc. I recommend this place pretty much, it's a good place to come and do whenever you feel to do. You just need to visit it and you won't be disappointed.

DR had a very turbulent history - it was switched between the Spanish and Haitian rule, and had to fight for its independence several times. This imposing monument stands proudly in the second biggest DR city. It is dedicated to victims of the Restauration war against Spain which was fought 1863-65 after Spain regained DR shortly after its first independence from Haiti. Entering the ground floor is free, while there's a couple of dollars fee to climb up. The elevator did not work, but it is a very mild climb via spiral staircase through several levels and on each is a museum, diorama and some info on that war. Once on top there're great views of entire city.

Growing up around this monument as a kid really makes this a nostalgic and treasured location for me and my family.

The self-guided tour up the tower is nice, but even if you don't make it up there, just being on the grounds, around the Monument, is a cool experience! Go at dusk and watch the sunset. That's my recommendation.

Such a beautiful place, with amazing views, showing the heritage and history of Dominican Republic... But the place also has garbage all around in the top of the monument stairs and littered garbage all around. Some of the statues name plates are damaged and the large stone letters are destroyed. So disappointing that it's not taken cared off properly and its such a beautiful place.

As cliché as it sounds, it's a really good place to spend in Santiago. Has many restaurants around, nice breeze and view. I've never felt unsafe there but it's always good to watch out for your stuff, specially at night. Family friendly before 8pm. Great place to propose or break up with your partner. It's just the city center and everyone loves it!

(Translated by Google) The Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration is the traditional place of recreation for the people of Santiago. As always excellent environment, quiet and safe. Where you can go as a family and learn about part of our history, as the name says it is in honor of our patriots from the war of restoration of our Republic. There are several statues in honor of them. It has a square dedicated to the Águilas Cibaeñas team, around it there are several restaurants and bars. If you want to take a car ride here you will find the perfect place to do it. The Santiago Carnival parade, the most colorful and joyful in the country, is held here every year in February. The Heart City awaits you and be sure to visit this historic and beautiful place. Very nice museum inside and detailed explanations of the different battles the country fought to gain its independence. Excellent view on the 5th floor or the whole city. The tickets were $100 pesos ($2 USD) per adults and $20 pesos for kids.

I always make sure to stop by whenever I visit my family in Santiago. This time, they had lights and decorations in honor of the Three Kings. I had never visited El Monumento during such festivities before. We're so glad your family enjoyed it!

Always beautiful to visit and remember history but it was sad to see garbage around it, much more than other times I’ve visited. Also I didn’t feel as safe as I’ve felt in the past with a few men asking for money and some very dark areas. It definitely needs more/better lighting and garbage pick up.

This is the one place in Santiago that can be considered a shame not to go visit if you enter the City. It has the best view of the City and the best activities around. Go up there, have a Presidente beer and enjoy the cool breeze and awesome view.

Loved going to this monument in Santiago. There are great restaurants around the square and lots of great statues and history around the monument as well. It is the place to stop to see in Santiago, Dominican Republic. You can also visit shopping districts and Calle del Sol that runs on one side of the monument. Be careful with people leading you on tours. They can take you for hundreds of dollars with a sad story. Be aware.

All around awesome. A must see, can't miss, historical, architectural marvel in the heart of the City of Heart. Amazing food, drink and entertainment spots in the streets around the base of the monument. Want to see breathtaking views of the city of Santiago, enjoy some frosty cold beverages and fantastic food? Go to the Monumento!

It is a very impressive architectual piece, it is worth to pay it a visit, specially at night. However, the security could be better, it is quite dark in some parts and there is no police or private security.

It was a good moment walking through the garden that surrounded the monument. If you want to experience a typical dominican get away, it is a nice place to enjoy with your family or your lover. Intense activity at night. There are public chairs all around and vendors offering you drinks and flowers.

Meet great people on the way as well as hustlers who strive to make a living. Overall very nice. Will come back to go inside the monument and share more pictures.
