Duarte park, named after the DR famous writer and freedom fighter stands in the middle of the old town of Santiago. It's a classic Latin American park with many benches beneath the trees, full of locals. One side occupies the beautiful Cathedral. Nice place to soak the atmosphere and cool down.

Very wonderful park with so much history involved with the place. Definitely a place to experience. That alone gets a 4 star review but, be weary of strangers approaching you offering to give you provate tours, you will learn some interesting things but they are expensive or can lead to dangerous situations.

This park is heavenly shaded with beautiful trees. Mixed with people going to and from work shoppers and church goers it's a nice place to watch the people carry on in peace. I like to go there and enjoy the Santiago weather.

This area is a popular relaxation spot for local people. The area is generally wheelchair accessible and has plenty of benches, although these are typically filled with locals. The area is not a standard tourist zone, with few if any hawkers and minimal signage. Only on-street parking is available, but Dominican rideshare services are inexpensive and convenient. A driveby of the area would allow you to see major buildings and monuments without leaving the comfort of the vehicle.

This park is situated in the heart of Santiago and sits next to the cathedral, and in front of the Governance building. It has a Central kiosk, lots of trees, although the mayor had a lot of centenarial trees cut down a year ago and replaced it with plan trees to his shame. But there are pleasant walkways and places to sit all around the Parque and you will find people their throughout the day.

Even though we went at night, this place is still really beautiful! It also has a few bars and restaurants around that are very nice and cozy. So happy I came back, it is so different to how it used to be 5 years ago.
