It was a great experience. Lots of reading about the complete story of that time (Trujillo). The place is very well kept and it has a few things that will keep you engaged in the walkthrough. It has some type of dungeon almost at the end. The view of the patio was really good, too.

Fascinating history of the resistance during the Trujillo era. Wall information is only available in Spanish, but headsets do a pretty good job of giving basic information. They are a little clunky in that a code has to be entered each time instead of just touching a button for "next." We used our Google translate app to instantly translate a lot of the information. Would be interesting to have the museum explore the idea of human rights more, but it does a good job of focusing on people.

5 stars if you're interested in the story of the people's resistance against Trujillo. Other than that its just that. ALTHOUGH every Thursday night (7pm) it's free movie night (soda and popcorn free too!) Then live music. The movies have been great so far, independent Dominican films.

This is well designed museum that gives a crash course in RD history ( an dhow it's linked to the USA and other foreign influences. When you finish this tour, you'll know who's on the money in your pockets and be much more informed about the country you're seeing. A must!!

Every traveler to the Dominican Republic needs to visit this museum! All the information was so well thought out. It typically takes about 3-4 hours to get through it all because there’s just so much reading to be done. My favorite part was obviously the story of Las Hermanas Mirabal. I really enjoyed learning about the fall of Trujillo and how that came about with Cuba’s help. Such an important part of Latin American history is within this museum and I’m so glad I got to experience it. 🦋

A must visit in Santo Domingo to understand the history of the Dominican Republic, with a focus in the US occupation of the country, the dictatorship of Trujillo, and the community resistance movement that opposed him. 150 pesos to get in - free audio tour. FYI Museum is in Spanish.

This museum is full of interesting information but unfortunately it is obscured by walls and walls of long blocks of text. The amount of text could probably fill a book. There was an audio guide available got an additional charge but I didn't pay the additional money. However, the air conditioning was comfortable and I did learn some new things so the cost of $3 usd was worth it.

It's very great and insightful. The only thing missing is an English narrative.

An absolute must see for Dominicans and foreigners alike. Considering the amount of information, this is also a place you could easily visit alone. Audio tours available in at least a few languages as well.

Fascinating museum about the brave resistance fighters that rose up against Trujillo’s dictatorship. Small, but a high quality exhibition. Most signage is in Spanish, but you are given an audio guide in English language upon request.

It reminds me of the Holocaust Museum in Washington but in a much smaller scale. It does cover a lot of our grim history, specially the Human Rights violations during the Dictatorship of Trujillo.

It was very informative of the history of the DR. I learned many things I had no idea happened in the past 80 years in this country. The Staff at the museum were also very nice and helpful. I definitely recommend it!

This museum is almost entirely text (in Spanish), with nothing interactive and very few artifacts. Read the relevant Wikipedia pages about Dominican resistance if you're interested; this museum isn't worth it.

The Memorial Museum of Dominican Resistance is a must visit Museum in Santo Domingo. The Museum has a comprehensive history of the island's struggle for independence and justice. The fight against Dictators and Despots intertwine with American Interventions are depicted in a chronological history. The Museum has immersion areas, you can feel and hear the sounds of the past. For those who wish to understand the injustices and injuries done to Dominican citizens perpetrated by state oppression and normalize, this is your place to begin. Please take the time to slowly move from the second floor of the museum to the first. Read as you move along and see yourself in the time described. One of the best museums in the island. Intelligent people learn from the mistake of others… That’s the aim of this little big museum! What happened in Dominican Republic is repeating throughout South America nowadays…

This museum shows the story of the Dictatorship years in the Dominican Republic. If you are into history and do not mind a little reading during your visit then it is a total must! What that dictator did in 31 years of power was terrible for some families in the country.
