The church of Santa Bárbara was built around the year 1560. In the place where it was built, most of the materials were extracted for its construction, such as for the walls and various monuments in the colonial area. This church has a special meaning for Dominicans, as it is the place where the Father of the Nation, Juan Pablo Duarte, was baptized on February 4, 1813. Located on Isabel la Católica Street, it is one of the oldest churches in the country. It is currently being restored, trying to maintain its historical value by renewing its structure with details typical of its time. If you go to see the images you will notice the photos I took recently.

Beautiful temple of the Catholic religion, it dates back to colonial times, where the Patriarch and father of the Nation Juan Pablo Duarte was baptized. It is in the final phase of a restoration process which is returning all the splendor it had in the past.

The church is beautiful and even more so now restored. Impressive views of the crypts, the ceilings and the religious-architectural setting. Apart from the fact that it is the temple where our father of the country Juan Pablo Duarte was baptized; This church is a historical relic dating back to 1606.

Excellent location, it is currently in the process of restoration, but what you can see is beautiful. A total reconstruction of the structure and its surroundings, with stained glass in all its windows that are a work of art. I invite you to visit it for its delivery, which is scheduled for the coming months.

After more than 55 years I am scouring the Internet and remembering my childhood in the 1960s when I was an altar boy and rang the bells in the belfry during Holy Week processions. How beautiful those times were. I hope to be able to visit it again in the not too distant future and take my Puerto Rican wife with this Cuban servant to the homeland that I half had my birth and childhood in 1958.

Although the first few days there was too much noise in the street and the street lighting suffered a blackout, then normality came. The street is safe, and the views of the mouth of the Ozama are pleasant. The apartment is comfortable and well lit. I recommend it.
