When biking in Germany, you can’t always find authentic German food. Our meal at Maternus was really excellent. With some coaching provided by the staff, we had a delightful meal including their tomato soup and a superb schnitzel. B&A Adams, CANADA

Woooow… what can we say about Maternus is beyond words! We had an extremely pleasant time there, with a very good tradicional food. And not to mention the staff, which is also part of the experience. Anyway, we ate the best schnitzel ever! Just try it and you won’t be disappointed. We wanna go there again sometime 🥰 Thank you, Maternus!

Lovely old style setting with excellent service. Had the goose dinner which was delicious and shared a freshly made zabaglione. Great evening.

Extremely disappointing given the very positive reviews. Had the salmon, but it was almost completely uncooked and I was forced to return it as it was actually cold on the inside. (It was also swimming in butter). Astounding as this is one of their main dishes. Hope others have better luck!! 🤞

We were here for the goose as we heard before that it is good but we were very disappointed. We had a reservation which you need for this time of year here, the atmosphere is nice but kinda falling apart, the lamps were barely hanging of the wall and flickered if you leaned back. For food we all had the goose and after a while it came, the waiting time wasn't to bad but it wasn't short. We all got 3 potato dumplings and a bit of red cabbage, the dumplings were good but small and the red cabbage was only ok. Now the goose, it was definitely disappointing, the crust was good but everything tasted and smelled like a weird smoke, I don't really know how to explain it, almost like cigar smoke. After we told the waitress she went to the kitchen and said she'd come back... Which she didn't. In the end it was rather disappointing and we didn't get any discount on the bad goose and it was very expensive:/

Maternus is a MUST, a true ícone.... I knew Maternus under the Baroness in 1968-9, when Bonn was the capital... It was a true pleasure and experience to rediscover it....The place is quite the same under a new management and the service is excellent, the food is great although not as international as in the past....the wines are overpriced....

The food was delicious! And the ambient is gorgeous. It is a bit pricey but regarding the quality definitely worth it

A restaurant with good home cooking in the center of Bad Godesberg. It is one of the places where politicians and diplomats from the Bonn Republic used to meet. The decor is traditional, the ambience pleasantly calm and perfect for good conversations while eating. The menu offers traditional German dishes but also salads, pasta, etc. The prices are ok, the staff very friendly. The food of good quality. Unfortunately, one of the dishes was too salty, but it was exchanged immediately. The second time it still was a little too salty (and we tend to eat spicy and relatively salty!). Nevertheless, the other dishes were good, so we will certainly give the place a second chance, since we liked the calm atmosphere.

Just returned. Had a wonderful dinner there with colleagues. Not a cheap place, but a place to remember. You do have to try the Zabaione.
