Excellent location, at the heart of Bonn's old political center - about a 15 minute walk from the old city. Large rooms facing the main street make for bright rooms. Air conditioning works well and street traffic could not be heard, indoors. Although a bit dated, the styling of the room was very original and pleasant enough. The bed was comfortable. The room had enough seating options. The room included a couch and desk. Breakfast: Of all the coffee I have drunk in the world (and I like all kinds of coffee types, styles and strengths) this was the second worst coffee I have ever had in my life. Taste is always subjective. But not in the this case. I attribute the bad coffee to two possibilities: it was standing too long in the thermos; the thermos lets off side-tastes; the coffee-machine was not clean; or the coffee brand was not good. Otherwise, the breakfast was average-to-good. Parking on the other side of the main street is free for the most part and it was rather easy to find a parking space within a 5 minute walk. Street-side parking on the hotel side of the street is not possible after a certain hour. Service: Only the waiter in the breakfast room back-talked, when I mentioned the horrid coffee. Otherwise, the personnel was good-to-above-average... and always polite and helpful. Disclaimer: My evaluations are based on 35 years of travel experience in over 70 countries. These include all types of accommodation - from 5-stars luxury hotels and no-star hotels to B&Bs, apartments, bungalow lodges, camping grounds other other experiences. I do not compare unlike accommodations in unlike environments. However, I know the quality and value that one can receive everywhere and my evaluations reflect this. I am not easy to impress, but do understand the value of making empirical evaluations. Feel free to follow me on Facebook: Oliver-All-Over - Travel and Intercultural Fitness

Terrible experience, the worst hotel in my life. When I checked in and entered my room, I was welcomed by the sauna of 50+ °C in a room. The same thing was repeated every day after the cleaning staff visit. There is no real ventilation and like most of Germany, it doesn't have AC. Go here if you want to die from heat exhaustion.

Before I presented my passport, your receptionist said: "Mr. Jiang?". It was so nice to have such an experience. Room and bathroom are nice.

Stayed at Hotel Kanzler for 2.5 months. The entire stay was fantastic, clean, comfortable and the entire team was awesome. Special mention to Bastian and Jaroslaw.

It's a nice hotel, the rooms are perfect. Specially in these times it's so handy that they have a small kitchen. Location is great specially if you want to enjoy the amazing museums nearby. What it misses (and it's an easy fix) is that the kitchen comes empty, you can request some things from the main desk but they are very basic, we didn't even get a proper chopping knife, and they gave us two tiny plates. Also they don't provide salt or oil, this is something cheap that could make a guests life easier specially for a short stay. My advice have some small kitchen packages with all the basics, I wouldn't even mind paying for them. We left a salt as a courtesy to the next guests please don't take it 🤭

The Hotel was beautiful and the room was a lot bigger than expected. The Hotel staff were incredibly friendly and could not do enough for us. The Hotel is located in walking distance to the Centre. The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of choice. I think it is really nice you receive complimentary water and 2 bottles of beer. I would highly recommend this Hotel and I would definitely stay here again.

A good solid functional hotel within a 20mins brisk walk from Bonn City. Our main 'recommend to my friends' likes are the quietness, proximity to Bonn, the hotel's own underground car park (you may as well pay to use this than the city car parks), overall cleanliness and good lighting. Our EUR90 stay excluded breakfast so I cannot comment. Our upgraded room, a compact suite with sofa, chairs and a coffee table featured a lot of stately looking brass metalwork with wood paneling probably appealing more to former politicians but it does make for a quirky stay for 21st century travellers. Its kitchenette was very sparsley equipped, just enough to open the courtesy 2 bottles of beer/water and make coffee/tea. Reception allowed us to collect the car at our leisure on the following day which was appreciated.

The rooms themselves are fine but it is frustrating that for short term travellers there is literally nothing available than a mug, not even a knife or fork...also, I never feel as if the room is as well cleaned and maintained as it could be. The entire hotel lay out and room numbering remains a complete mystery to me, even though the company I work for has now sent me there three times. Breakfast is ok. There is a restaurant on site which I have never yet tried and there are few other restaurants nearby. Parking is fine, but charged extra. There is a well ness area, I have never tried but I have been to the fitness room which is ok. The staff at reception on this occasion were friendly, efficient and helpful. All in all, given where the hotel is located, i.e. Bonn, and comparable prices it is value for money. I would not personally choose it for leisure travel. For business travel and where in Bonn I tend to work (former government district), it does the job.

This was my 3rd stay at the Derag Kanzler. I was there for 2 weeks. on previous occasions I stayed 1 and 2 weeks. When making my reservation I had asked for a room with a kitchenette (as the price range allowed) Upon check in I was told that these rooms were not available as they was a conference in town and the rooms with kitchenette were given to this group. I wish the hotel had earlier communicated this to me, and not informed me upon check in (in the Sunday evening). I experienced this at very inconvenient. I was told to come back next day around 11 am to discuss with the manager. Useless advice as next day I was busy having work meetings. I am visiting Bonn again this year and I may stay elsewhere (I realised this time how good the metro system is which can bring me to my workplace). The location is great but that's the only differentiator.

This is the hotel with the worst service awareness I have ever been to in my life. The service is disrespectful and condescending. Highly recommend not to approach
