👍👍 The Old Cemetery in Bonn is now a historic, one could almost say it is a museum cemetery, as it has existed since 1715 and the gravestones are mostly in good condition, so that you can still clearly see the initials. The Old Cemetery in Bonn is now a historic, one could almost say it is a museum cemetery, as it has existed since 1715 and the gravestones are mostly in good condition, so that you can still clearly see the initials. Important personalities were buried here in the Old Bonn Cemetery... An information board at the entrance to the cemetery points out special grave sites... This cemetery was laid out around 1715, in front of the city gates, in front of the city wall of the city of Bonn...Today in 2022 I found this cemetery again, almost in the middle of Bonn, it is surrounded by residential buildings and office buildings. Main roads lead past the cemetery. The Old Cemetery in Bonn is now a historical center in the modern city of Bonn... I have never encountered such a historic, Christian cemetery, which has so many tombs from historical times, anywhere else in Germany. Every modern Christian cemetery exists for a limited time, but here at the Old Cemetery in Bonn, time seems to have stood still. I have only been able to see so many tombstones that have been here for a few centuries in Jewish cemeteries. Since Jewish cemeteries are supposed to be burial places for eternity, they still exist today... I think it's good that there is such an interesting, Christian one There are still cemeteries here in Germany, where you can see cemetery culture over the centuries...

Old, very old, must be one of the best and most interesting cemeteries in Germany. Beethoven's mother and composer Schumann were buried as well as many other celebrities. A real place to be in nature and discover history. Good transport by the Bonn local system.

Large cemetery with some notable graves, such as Beethoven's mother. A good place in the summer to cool down in greenery & silence. Very near the train station and the main attractions of Bonn.

The most beautiful cemetery I have seen! I went here in August 2017 and visited Robert and Clara Schumann's grave (romantic era composer). The trees and the garden-like landscaping were so gorgeous that I spent probably 2 hours there photographing and filming the beauty. And this was on a dark cloudy day too! It is very well kept, with respect and deep devotion by the staff, who should be commended for their immeasurable dedication to doing an excellent job!

A truly historic and evocative cemetery in Bonn. Quite large and it is nice to walk among the historic tombs and the numerous avenues until you reach the central chapel. When I was there there was also a traveling concert.

Beautiful old graveyard with a lot of old tombstones. All entrances are closed except for the eastern entrance. There is a bus, tram and metro stop on 400 meters of the entrance. Be respectful because it is still being used by today.

Oldest cemetery in Bonn, beautiful old graves, statues and resting place of various well-known personalities from different eras of history. Especially when the sun slowly disappears, a beautiful atmosphere and absolutely worth seeing. 👍😊👍

Beautiful cemetery in the middle of the busy city of Bonn. It gives peace and some rest as well. Even the gate helps by giving a scary sqeeking sound when opening it. Mother of Beethoven is buried here, among many others. Site is still in use, as to be seen by the data on the tombstones.

An OASIS of reflection, peace, culture, etc. It's nice that in my birthplace 🇩🇪 Bonn there are still interested people who maintain these cultural cities 👍👍👍 and are also committed to them 👍👍. This place has written history that should not be forgotten. And “NOT EVERYONE” receives the privilege of being buried in this God’s + field. On the other hand, we are all equal before our "CREATOR", whether prominent, POOR or RICH, this is the only fair thing.

A great old cemetery right in the heart of Bonn. I've been to a few cemeteries in Europe but this is really one of the most beautiful.

A respectful place of peace in the middle of the big city. There is even a sign here that shows which personalities are buried here and where.

The old cemetery in Bonn is a very special place, as it is located in the middle of the city... if you walk through the gate, there is suddenly (largely) silence and calm. Surrounded by the old, partly very weathered graves and tombs, you almost feel like you are in another time. The place is absolutely worth seeing, even if you have no affinity for cemeteries.

Really beautiful and historic cemetery. We took part in a tour of the cemetery foundation, which is really recommended. Lots of interesting information about the history and art of the cemetery. The chapel is also visited during the tour. Guided tours take place from March 1st to October 31st every Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 11:00 a.m. For €5 you will be guided through the old cemetery in 90 to 120 minutes. Music events and various themed tours also take place regularly. & it's really impressive how much time, money and love the cemetery foundation puts into maintaining the cemetery. The graves of many well-known personalities are marked on information boards. A visit to the cemetery and a guided tour is highly recommended!
