My family and I had a lovely New Year’s Day high tea. We liked the fact that local flavours were featured and had been looking forward to this for almost three weeks. The scones came out first. They were buttery and delectable with the clotted cream and jams. The gula melaka drizzle was also delightful. The three plates had a unique assortment of sweet and savoury treats, which were all delicately and thoughtfully prepared. We felt that the savoury food was better, though. The desserts were just okay. We also ordered the dry laksa, as other reviews had highlighted it. The sauce was too spicy for me, but other than that, it was indeed a very nice dish. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The ambience was pleasant and service was good. The high tea is very popular so you will need to make a reservation.

The beef rendang very tender and rich of rendang taste but the rendang paste did not marinated in the meat, meat is meat, rendang is rendang. The satay and chicken wing just average, The worst dish is vegetarian mushroom pong tay. It is salty until it can't put in my mouth. I believe something miss handling. The Ngoh Hiang and egg plant are the best of the night.

Lovely restaurant with an inspired classy modern Peranakan setting offering Singaporean and Nonya cuisine. Menu offerings look pretty attractive, with selections including Dry Laksa, Fish Curry with Roti Prata, and Ngoh Hiang. We saw many tables ordering the Kueh Pie Tee. We decided to focus on the Nonya menu, and had the Beef Rendang paired with "Chicken Rice Rice". The Beef Rendang was on point with its thick and flavourful gravy enveloping tender chunks of beef. A must-try. Sambal egg plant was good, though it the spiciness overwhelmed our palates and some of the other flavours in the dish. Will come back again to try other dishes.

Good decent food. Loved the satay. Different from your original ones but nice and filling. Friendly staff and helpfull. The atmosphere really depends where you are sitting. Closer to the end you're pretty much in the public setting. Not very intimate.

I went to Violet Oon at 03-22 ION Orchard last Saturday for their high tea with my ex colleagues . We ordered a set of snacks for two with 2 free flow of tea or coffee. Snacks are just enough for 2 of us. Cookies and their kuehs are good and fantastic....it really suit our local palate. The cookies and kuehs are served on a three tiers tray. Very presentable. ( See the photos attached) Service can be consider acceptable as the staff leave you guys to enjoy your food and coffee.

Service was good. We ordered two mains, 2 starters and 1 dessert. The pasta & satay was ok. The curry was a bit too salty & the "roti" portion was miserably small that it does not equal to a bowl of rice (aka not filling). Kurobura pork fingerlings was acceptable but becuz it was deep fried & in small bite size, most of them were tough on teeth, so don't expect it to taste like those tender pork cutlet from those TW bubble tea stall. Dessert was nice though

This restaurant serves authentic south-east Asian food. Some dishes like the Kueh Pie Tee are amazing with fresh shrimp and a crispy cup. The beef hor fun was also great as the sauce was nice and the noodle was fresh. I also recommend the coconut jelly with coconut ice cream as that was delicious made with real coconut. Overall, I highly recommend coming here as the food is great.

Panda cake very good enjoy with a earl grey tea , not too sweet the cake and not too dry. Dry laksa very spicy cannot taste anything, pee pie and all nonya food maintain good standard which worth to go though more expensive, expected at Orchard, everywhere charging this range. The best are the waiter and waitress very very professional.

Decent food in a place with good ambiance. Quality of food is high especially for the kueh pie tee, chap chye and chicken satay. For ladies, don't miss out on their cakes. They are good. Price is steep and reservations would be recommended. Overall 4 stars was given due to the taste to dollar ratio. Would have given 5 stars and visit on regular basis if price is 20% lower.

Excellent service and food. The kuay pie ti was simply fabulous. Best I’ve ever eaten. Tofu dish was superb too. Satay was tasty. The satay sauce had that extra something that was great. Well done!

Delicious food and prompt service. Violet Oon at ION Orchard offers rich flavours and a variety of Peranakan dishes. The vegetarian menu is extensive, and worth a try even if you eat meat. Drinks were refreshing, and desserts were a wonderful way to end this fantastic meal. \

One of my favourite restaurants with consistently good food. So good that I ate there twice in 3 days!! The beef rendang was melt in your mouth tender and the dry laksa was so flavourful. Service and ambience is also great. Recommend booking in advance as walk in spaces are limited.

High tea set for two that comes with Earl Grey or Rooibos tea and coffee. Or top up $8 for a premium tea selection. The set started with two types of scones that were buttery and light. They were good though I wouldn't say exceptional. The savouries and sweets in the set were packed with local and Peranakan flavours with reminiscence of childhood memories like the bandung agar agar and chendol pudding. Couple of items like the Otah may be a kick too spicy for some who are not used to the chilli heat. Overall a good and enjoyable high tea for the price. And the flavours were much on point.

Food: We liked almost all the main course dishes, the nasi goreng kankung was delicious and vegan/vegetarian friendly, which was amazing as I am a vegetarian. My friends had the ayam keluah which they enjoyed as well. The meatless rendang was also enjoyable as the meatless meatball had a good texture and wasn’t just generic tofu or mushroom addled things one sees for vegetarians. The curry however, though delicious wasn’t really an authentic rendang flavour to me. But it was delicious as a curry. Didn’t really like the fries but the dip that came it was delicious and the lettuce cups with popiah was also disappointing. Service: The staff is the best thing about this outlet. The lady who served was perhaps the best server I have ever encountered in my life. She was professional but also caring, chirpy and enthusiastic. She tended to everyone with equal attention. She took the birthday cake and produced it at an opportune moment and then offered to take a group photo for us. Loved the service they offer where she printed out the photo and gave it to the birthday person in a paper frame! That made our celebration so very special! Really appreciate the customer service and attention to detail. We were also given a slice of mango meringue cake for free which was also much appreciated. Ambience: I have to admit I don’t especially like the openness of the restaurant as I feel it takes away from the premium and fine dining aspect of the restaurant but otherwise it’s has really inviting, warm old school vintage vibes.

Underrated gem at the top of ION Orchard 😋 Satay was THICC and grilled beautifully and went really well with the sauce. Fried pork fingerlings were sinfully good, and the prawn pasta was al dente and delicious even eating just the spaghetti without the prawns. Hainanese pork chop was good comfort food; roti prata was alright, paled in comparison to the rest.

Visited their Orchard Ion outlet for a dinner with my friend! We were simply impressed by their excellence customer service! Their staff were attentive and welcoming, they even went the extra mile to print a photo for us to keep us memories while we celebrate this special occasion! Thank you :)

Had a great time celebrating a birthday with the family ! Food was fantastic , staff was helpful and courteous, ambience was great despite being in the middle of a mall. They surprised my auntie with a slice of birthday cake ! We were celebrating her 70th and the gesture really delighted her ! We had a blast ! Thank you !! Thumbs up and keep it up ! I can see the staff was working incredibly hard ! Shout out to all ! Thanks !

We celebrated our dear friend’s birthday and the staff is very professional, took photo and printed a hard copy for our birthday girl. When we feedback one of the egg plant dish is too spicy , the manager immediately prepares and serves another dish. The food is very delicious and the service is excellent !

Delicious food all the way. Especially loved their fish curry with roti. Place can get crowded as it is quite popular. Reservations are recommended.

Hosted our foreign friends here to have a taste of local and nonya dishes. We are very satisfied with the food and I would strongly recommend you all to try Rendang Beef and Chicken satay!!! Very good. The service staff are attentive and provided good service too. We really enjoyed ourselves very much there :)

I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant but never had a chance to come in the past 2 years. Now that I had a chance...the place is located in the ION mall. The food was awesome especially satay meat which was very tender. Overall pretty good restaurant. One star down due to super long waiting time for the food.

Place is very accessable via MRT, food was really nice, love the curry and prata. Highlight was also the dessert pula hitam ice cream dessert. Service staff was also very attentive and polite. Price is on the slightly higher end but its worth to try at least once. Would come back to test out the satay soon.

Had the privilege of enjoying high tea at Violet Oon ION courtesy of wifey on my birthday 🥳. Can only say that it was truly a memorable experience! Every morsel was delightful and the service was above and beyond expectations! Upon learning it was my birthday, Jean came with a birthday cake and candle and spontaneously sang a birthday song 🤩 We felt so loved and well taken care of throughout our stay by everyone on the team on 5 Sep. Can’t wait to come back again! 😁

We celebrated our bestie birthday and was greeted by the best service crew by the name of Jane. Her attentiveness and mannerisms were top notch and she was constantly serving us with a smile! If there’s a Best Employee Award, Jane should be the one! Thank you Jane, for making our day! You are an exemplary lady and do continue your excellent work! Violet Oon is extremely lucky to have you!

🛋️Environment: Nice deco but very noisy due to its location in the middle of ION atrium 🤵🏻Service: Staffs are very friendly but slow, relatively difficult to get attended, serving of food can take as long as one hour during peak hours 🥘Taste: Overall over expectations! Beef Rendang/Dry Laksa/Sambal Eggplant/Sticky Date Pudding are all must try! Very flavourful but not too heavy, all perfect with the jasmine rice 💰Price: reasonable, five dishes with one desert for three pax, $155

Came here to celebrate birthday and we are served by Ms Lea Grace. She is very attentive to our needs to check that we are happy with the food. She even arranged a free slice of cake for us. Really enjoyed the food and the service. Will be back again.

I got the dry laksa and sticky date pudding. Forgot the picture before I start this time. Overall, taste is pretty good. Noodle and shrimps are way over cooked. As for drink I got the Singapore island ice tea. The lime leave really stand out. No complaints here. All and all, given the location, the price is not unacceptable, but with the price tag I was expecting a slightly higher quality in terms of food.

Excellent Nyongya Restaurant with celebrity chef designed menu, with some fusion of western ingredients or cooking style. The satay is absolutely delicious, with very good sauce as side. We also ordered a fusion style hainanese pork chop which really perfectly combines British style with the authentic taste of Nyongya food. They have an extensive dessert menu, but we already really sad as we were full already.

Food took around 20-30 min to come which was quite long.. fortunately the kueh pie tee and dry laksa was really good and worth the wait. The chap chye leaves much to be desired though, it was bland and really lacking flavour. Would recommend the sticky date for dessert tho! Was a nice warm temperature!

Visited Violet Oon at Ion Orchard for lunch meeting, came here after recommended by one of our supplier as he mentioned the food here is good! Overall food and drinks taste legit awesome especially kueh pie tee and beef rendang, the beef rendang is soooo tender! For the vibe is honestly more to feeling like tai tai style like that and its environment is chill tho, the customer service here is good too, the waiter/waitresses will kept helping us to pour wine everytime when our glass a little empty ( so auto de), feel like our experience here is well taken care of, will come again 🥰 overall 5 star! Very satisfied!

Located beautifully in the center of Ion shopping mall. Spacious and gracefully decorated. Service is a bit slow but very friendly. Food is tasty and high quality. I highly recommend this restaurant 👍🏻

First time trying out Weekday High tea at Ion’s branch. The high tea set serves 2 and has assorted variety and staff advised us to start with the savoury and end with the sweet. Pastries are all delectable and display was aesthetically pleasing. I particularly love the scones. Ambience was great and you can do people watching as the restaurant is situated in the centre. Everything was good if not for the constant annoyance from the houseflies. It will be good if they can do something about it 😅

I recommend the Singapore High Tea Set at $59++, which serves 2. Everything was good, the presentation was impressive, and the portions were just right. We brought a friend visiting from out of town there to enjoy the local Peranakan favorites, and she absolutely loved the experience. The high tea starts at 3pm, and reservations are highly recommended. We saw people without reservations being turned away even after waiting in line. The service could be improved, though. It was quite difficult to catch the attention of the servers, and it seems like there was a lack of communication between them. For example, we asked the host for a baby chair for my daughter as we were seated, he acknowledged, but the baby chair never came. I had to walk around to look for another server to help with getting a baby chair. Overall, still an enjoyable high tea in Orchard Road. I will definitely be back.

Aside from the lengthy wait for a seat, food is delightful. Local cuisines at exquisite prices and services. The satay is huge, given that it’s $6 per stick. We also had beef rendang which is spicy, hainan pork chop, shepherds pie, chicken wing and assorted drinks. Overall, good to try.

  • 5/5 CP 1 year ago on Google
What a delectable high tea set at a very affordable price. I have not had high tea for eon and this is definitely very enjoyable. Don’t be fooled by the seemingly petite size of the savoury and sweet items, we actually struggled to finish the sweet items towards the end. The drinks is free flow, so we started with tea and had an espresso. It is perfect for a Saturday afternoon. But you have to make reservation beforehand.

Great Classic Nonya And Eurasian Restaurant! Opulent ambiance paired with fantastic food and service is what you’d expect here at Violet Oon. Their prata is to die for! Soft and crunchy and only $2 its sooo worth it! Chicken Curry and Ngoh Hiang are a must try. Serving is generous and can definitely be shared so the price point is just nice. Service is friendly and attentive. I felt very well taken care of. Ambiance is just fabulous!

We had a great time previously at their Jewel outlet a few years back so decided to have our lunch here since Mrs is having her face fixed in the building across The service team is very friendly and positive. We can feel that they are passionate about what they do. They are very responsive although the joint is busy with the lunch crowd Food wise: Violet Oon is the leading “authority”over Peranakan (Nonya) cuisine in Singapore over the decades. We ordered the ngoh hiang, chap chye, taohu goreng and they did not disappoint. Personally, I would have preferred cucumbers over the raw bean sprouts as condiments for the taohu goreng. We were split over the Dry Laksa: Mrs like it a lot while I find the taste too overpowering and dryness difficult to swallow Prices are fair considering that the portions are generous Overall, it was an enjoyable lunch. Mrs mentioned this is one of the places where we can host our overseas guests next and I guess that means we will be back for more
