When I go back to Portland I’d definitely go back there. I was driving to Orono from Boston and stopped in Portland to get coffee, and the first sip of the light roast coffee I got from Bard convinced me it was so much worth it to search for a roaster to get coffee from. I’ve tried coffee from many roasters, and while generally they serve excellent coffee, coffee at Bard stands out among roasters too. Will definitely go back when I’m in the area!

One of the BEST cappuccino in the world. If you are in the area, you MUST taste it. The staff is also warm and friendly. Highly recommended.

I’m writing this review on only the espresso. My first morning in Portland I ordered a double long espresso and it tasted like motor oil. I have no idea why but it was not good. I don’t know if its the coffee they use, or perhaps the method in which it was made, but it did not taste good- which is hard to do. Perhaps they don’t cater or have coffee that caters to espresso drinkers? I don’t know but the taste was not good and I wish I had known. The second day I tried Buzz coffee. I have no idea why but neither place tasted normal or good. but if you’re a “coffee shop”, this should be the easiest and first things you perfect how to make. The third day I caved and went to Starbucks. I’m not a fan of Starbucks but at least the espresso tasted like espresso. Maybe there needs to be an espresso tasting class for these independent Portland coffee shops? Because I’ll tell you, I’d much rather give small businesses my business over a conglomerate like Starbucks - but the product has to be up to snuff- it just has to. Please taste your products, please taste test others. We need independent businesses, but we need them to stack up or taste better than the corporations.

Came here to leave 5 stars because they were playing The Best of Sade while I was having coffee and doing my work. No better vibe. Great Cortado. Funny, kind baristas. Will be back!

Coffee is pretty good, but a bit too acidic for my own taste. I do love the cinnamon roll though! Would be nicer if it were heated. Love the vibe here.

I came here on a foggy cold summer morning to warm up with a latte and my wife has been wanting to get latte art for so long we didn’t even know they do it here and when I came to pick up my latte lo and behold I got some nice art (gave the better looking one to the Mrs. lol) very nice seating friendly staff and located in the begining of the old port. Latte woke me up like 😳.

Bard is one of my favorite places in Portland for coffee. Their dirty chai is my favorite, hot or iced. I also love the cold brew and vietnamese coffee. Plus you can order at the takeout window and enjoy the sun while you wait.

It's a very nice place, in terms of the decor and the lighting. It's spacious, and seats a lot of people. It's very friendly for people who work remotely, and they make the majority of their customers.

Today I went to this cafe, looking for a delicious coffee and I found it!! They have a small menu, I ordered an eggplant, tomato and feta cheese pastry and it was really delicious, the service is good, the wait for the coffee is a little long, but it's worth it!! Remember that coffee is drunk without sugar!! If they add sugar it loses its magic.

So good, including house made syrups! We have been on a 10 day, RV trip, and have tried so many coffee shops along the way, every single one was a disappointment, until now! We ordered a Pumpkin Chai Latte, Vanilla Steamer, and Iced Caramel Latte — so delicious! We were also here with our kids, who made a big mess of the donuts they were eating, and the staff was very kind and helpful!

Wow, what a great find when visiting Portland, Maine. This place makes their own syrups and roasts their own beans. Their machines are dialed in just right and the result is a super smooth product. My vanilla latte was amazing... right down to the empty cup lined with specs of vanilla bean. I wish this place was in Portland Oregon!

This coffee shop stood out amongst the crowd with a small menu of fresh quality espresso and coffee - exactly what I’m looking for in a coffee shop. We ordered a hot and iced latte that was the best we have had in Maine. We even enjoyed the coffee cake muffin! Friendly service and an atmosphere ideal for getting some work done.

Ordered a cold brew coffee to go here. The coffee itself was great..very smooth and had a slight hint of chocolate flavor to it. The ambiance of the shop was great even though I didn’t stick around. Definitely could hang out there for a few hours. Must try coffee shop in Portland

Picking up some Bard beans at the start of my Maine stay was exactly the right choice, the service was phenomenal, staff friendly and the coffee made each morning that much better. Thanks!

cozy interior with beautiful windows looking out into the street as well as benches and tables tucked away on the side for a quieter visit. We loved the iced vanilla lattes!

Only takeout order is available for now. Coffee is 👍 good and Whoopie pie is awesome! We enjoyed sitting in the park

Great spot for really good coffee and pastry and friendly faces. Used to have inside tables, but still has not reopened that part although you can go inside to order as well as use the walk up window. They don’t take cash which makes utilizing them an accessibility issue (not very progressive in this way as they are in other ways), which is the reason for a 3 star rating.

Never have I eaten a pastry and smiled the whole treat! The coffee was unbelievably amazing for how cheap it was. The best part yet was how helpful the lady at the counter was, and how she suggested the perfect coffee for my first coffee!

Love the little park this is near. Nitro brew tastes great and a decent portion. It's a bit pricey but between getting more than Starbucks and it tasting basically the same it's probably worth it. The Good: Good tasting drinks. Prices are fair compared to the big name places. Portions are okay. Service is average speed. Love the nearby park. The Meh: None The Bad: None

If you're visiting Portland, I recommend going to Bard Coffee. Located in Old Port in Portland, the coffee shop is adjacent to a park which contains a takeout window for Bard. You can go into the front of the building to seat yourself inside if you're planning on staying for awhile. They offer all of the staples of a coffee shop but also have some lesser-available items like Vietnamese Coffee, or completely unique offerings like the Creamsicle Shakerato (shown in the photo). Also, if you visit on a super hot day, there is ice water and cups near the sugar and mixing station. Very appreciated when it is 90° outside.
