They serve excellent food at affordable prices prepared to your order and served by friendly waitresses. The restaurant is a tad transport cafe in its layout. I must say the coffee they serve is excellent always hot and full flavoured. My wife says their tea is the same, it is a drink I have never liked but she rates it and she is quite fussy. The plants sold are better than most places because they are mostly grown in extensive nurseries on site. It has to be said no where beats Hartleys floral displays for sheer beauty and range be it for celebrations or condolences theirs are head and shoulders above all opposition in this area. We regularly meet with friends there for coffee and a snack. Such meetings used to be spread around other garden centres on a rotation basis, that rotation consists only of Hartleys, give them a try.

The Cafe in the Garden Centre has very friendly Staff and the Food is Excellent. Update 11-02-2023. A few photos were added from todays visit to meet some of my cycling friends from @chorleycyclingclub. We use this cafe several times a year and are well looked after by the friendly staff. And the quality of the food is always top notch, I've added a few photos of the fantastic ornaments on display, too. And because my partner drove me there, we had to buy some of the ornaments she liked.

I've tried lots of local cake and coffee outlets - and by far the best cake is here. The cakes are baked fresh on the premises and are so good. I've yet to try the breakfast or lunch menu, but from what I've seen I wouldn't be disappointed.

Lovely little garden centre, both indoor plants and garden plants are really healthy and a good variety to choose from. The cafe is a must too. Food is lovely..

Their flower subscription service is great, very reasonably priced and much better flowers than any local or national florists. The garden center is always very clean with a good selection of everything, great family run business!

Always a good experience in the cafe at Hartley's Garden Centre! Nice big scones, plenty of cream, and good coffee. I recently gave this place a poor review by mistake, when I was meaning to refer to a rival garden centre. I apologise for this to Hartley's (although Google do seem to make it easy to select the wrong venue!). I hope I have managed to put the record a little straighter !

Very disappointed with the Cafe, I have been many times but it has really gone downhill lately, prices up, portion sizes down, staffing and service were poor, nothing short of incompetence, one staff member was prioritising wiping empty tables over taking customer's orders, I was ignored for over 15 minutes before someone finally came and took my order, and even then they still manage to get my order wrong. UPDATE....TO THE OWNERS' RESPONSE, Date was 9th August, 12:50 pm, Ignored by all staff until 1:08 pm, (not even acknowledged), after finally being allowed to order I was then brought a totally different meal than what I ordered. Your staff member even apologised for the chaos of the day, so you might want to consult with them before leaving passive-aggressive replies and lying in your response.

So glad to see cafe open warm and friendly staff we were not buying plants today but.got. some fresh rose's had them before they are second to none

Well my lovely friends what can I say about Hartley's Good parking ,well stocked options from bedding plants to garden ornaments, and what a café such a menu from light snacks to full meal . You won't be disappointed in this extremely clean and tidy business, give it a try😉

We visited for the first time today, what a treat. Beautiful plants & a great choice. Also fresh flowers & arrangements at great prices. We will definitely come again.

5 star rating based on the hanging baskets alone! We drive from miles away for them each year and are never disappointed, although they aren't cheap

Ordered flowers last night asking if delivery could be today before 12noon to give to my sister before she went home. Flowers we’re absolutely beautiful!! Delivery was perfect, driver was so polite and lovely and my sister loved them. I always buy flowers for special occasions and garden plants from here and I have never been disappointed - staff are so helpful and friendly and products are defo the best worth every penny !

Lovely garden centre and flower shop! Had a lovely breakfast at the Cafe too. Good value and very nice welcoming staff. Will definitely visit again.

Mothers day afternoon tea, bitter sweet! I've no complaints over the food but as one of the first to book, the 5 of us where crammed onto a table for four. We had to use the condiment shelf behind us to manoeuvre our plates and cups. The drinks on offer where tea or coffee, we said our 12yo son doesn't drink any of those do you have soft drinks. He asked for a coke and we where charged an extra £2.50. As regulars we where disappointed at the overall experience. I wish they would have told us that we would be squeezed onto a smaller table so I could have booked somewhere else.

Homemade pie and hand cut chips, served with fresh veg. Piping hot! Lovely staff! Will definitely be returning!

If plants and hanging baskets are what you need then Hartley is the place to go. Never have I seen so many baskets on display of every colour and size you can think of. Highly recommend this place for if nothing else just to see what an original garden nursery looks like. 👍👌👏

I came here to have lunch with my nan on Friday. The cafe service was excellent and lovely food! We were very amazed by the variety of flowers, they were beautiful! However, an older, large woman had a revolting, careless attitude. My nan had some inquiries about the lovely flowers here, but the lady seemed as though she didn’t want to speak to us and gave us little answers! She sighed and proceeded to walk away mid-conversation which made my nan feel quite uncomfortable. When we got to the till, the lady seemed very annoyed and didn’t say a word. Apart from this, it is overall a lovely garden centre to visit and have lunch.

We had our lunch here today which was very tasty and good value followed by beautiful homemade cake. The staff are very polite and the service was great (this is our third visit) the cafe is very clean and a stroll around the garden shop was pleasant too. Would recommend

Took my mum here for lunch. She likes to buy her flowers here and staff are always helpful and friendly.

I couldn't be more disappointed if I tried. We use to come here before lock down and the food was lovely. How things have changed. The serving member of staff ( a middle aged lady with glasses) was none accommodating and disengaged. The food was well below par, a £9 breakfast consists of one sausage one egg two toast some beans one black pudding. And was vile, the sausage that use to be the pulling point was just about edible it was just salt and peppered to an inch of its life, the bacon was that overcooked you could have cut glass with it. I found some plastic or parchment paper in my egg while it was in my mouth. All the ingredients where bad with exception the egg, that was ok besides the choking hazard of course. I wasn't given a side plate for the toast so had to use my napkin leaving my hands buttery. I feel there is no value for money here. And would honestly say avoid.

The Cafe at Hartleys is a regular place for us to visit at the end of our local meanders and/or before going home after a meander further away. Good food (sausage balm today), service and drinks. It's also our first point of call when looking for plants for the garden. However a little disappointing this year (2017) with the limited range of vegetable plants. (Marrows in particular)

Nice cafe for breakfast but just had the cream tea squirty cream one pat of butter small tub of jam and a scone like a brick steer clear of this

Service poor, the girl that served us looked she didn't want to be there, then after wrapping the flowers she then proceeded to drop them on the floor, not a word of apology or asked if we would liked the flowers to be exchanged and then had the nerve to charge us for wrapping them.

I recently received from a friend a beautiful massive box of flowers they were amazing and bigger than any other flowers I have received also came with a lovely wrapped box of chocolates I would highly recommend Hartley's and I will be using them my self .also going to visit them as heard a lovely cake shop /cafe on site . I loved this place, such beautiful plants and garden accessories. I bought 3 gorgeous butterflies and some stick decorations for my garden. Will be back when it's time to plant flowers.

Very well organised, the food from the restaurant was smelling very tempting but we where on a schedual. Easy access even for wheelchairs, prams etc.faie prices

This plant nursery is a family business which is run to a very high standard. The plants and flowers are amazing! I cannot fault them. I have had several deliveries which have always arrived on time and with the same great standard as the nursery. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a cafe in store that offers sandwiches cakes etc. even afternoon tea.
