I have visited many restaurants in France and I have never experienced service like this before. While the restaurant is conveniently located across Bordeaux train station, the service is really bad. While seating for over 1 hour I observed the waiter only provide better service to the local customers while individuals from other areas get the worse service. The food was not bad, but they can use some customer service skill training.

It's a convenient place if you just need to "waste" time before your train goes. I arrived there at 1:45pm, took my seat and after being ignored for 40 mins I finally found a waiter kind enough to take my order. I got my drink 10 mins later. Well - As I had 2hrs to waste no big deal. Way more comfortable than in the waiting area in the train station. But - of course - absolutely unacceptable in general. On a side note: I do not understand how people come to such a place and expect high quality, super tasty food...the place is right in front of the train station. Even though we are in France...I mean - come on.

Dangerous place. The food is not fresh and mostly microwaved, the price is lunar given the quality of the food and the waitress are not welcoming and only want you to consume and leave. That's a shame, so much potential wasted...

The most disgusting place i ever been, the arrogance of staff working there was just WOW. I didn’t even got to try food as i believe is also horrible. Their attitude made my 7 year old to cry so we have to leave place and even pay for a drinks we didn’t consume. Be careful people and avoid that hole

Visited 3 times on our stay in Bordeaux (Weird?)!! Staff friendly and efficient. Food good honest value and served quickly. Just what you want when catching a train.

I would propose that many of the reviews criticizing the service are largely based on customers who probably didn't plan their time. The staff here were kind, attentive and had a excellent sense of teamwork. I experienced superb service. Lunch was delicious. And an excellent value. I recommend La Taverne .

Actually, the food wasn't bad. The meat was fresh, the fries were tasty, but the salad leaves looked like they had been on the other plate before. The Basque dessert was really delicious and the coffee was absolutely good. However, the wine was not I ordered, I suspended they mixed it with the water. And the service was really disappointed, the waiter hugged and kissed another waitress but couldn't take my order and the style the administrator talked to me was really unacceptable.

Friendly service. Ate delicious mussels and an ideal Irish Coffee! Definitely worth a stop while waiting at the station.

I am another person who does not think that this restaurant is all that bad. I had a two-hour lay-over in Bordeaux, so I tried this restaurant, which is very conveniently located right across from the main train station. I found the food to be great; the beer tasty (it was a hot day); and the service to be fine. The prices were reasonable.

It sounds like this place is whether you get lucky with a good waiter according to the disparity of reviews. I could see some lazy waiters and we waited for awhile to PAY! However, our group of 4 had a positive experience with waiters, service and food. Food was good, came fast at lunch time. Convenient.

Wait staff were polite and accommodating, even when they had to close unexpectedly due to a fire at the restaurant next door. Cheap prices, great place to spend a short train layover.

I had breakfast here and the staff was lovely. However when I returned the next day another waiter was doing our table and he was very rude. when he realized we were with 8 people he immediately started scoffing and sighing. When we ordered and my friend asked a question about a dish he got really impatient and started to interrupt him multiple times while he tried to order. He took the orders of 7 of us and then started to walk away, while he had eye contact with the 8th person that hadn’t ordered yet multiple times, so we had to call him back to finish our order. We also saw him writing down the order another one of my friends placed, but somehow they forgot to prepare her meal. When we asked about it he said that it was coming, but her dish arrived at the table when everyone else was already done with their food for a while. Also when I asked if we could get some ice in our drinks he said “no” and walked away. The food is fine, but I’m not happy with how we got treated…

Very bad. Tap water smelled really bad. Onion soup was just a hot water. One hour waiting for the main course, that was more or less ok. Service 🤬 - waiter threw our bill on the next table and was smoking outside just in front of the door while I was trying to pay the bill. Never again. Don’t waste your time, find another place.

Very good good & alcohol. The staff was helpful. It feels nice sitting outside while having dinner.

Excellent restaurant and a great place for a drink. Staff are fantastic. Food is excellent. They offer set menus at great value and excellent standard .

We've been there a few times. The food is ok, not the most amazing but it's convenient. Being right across the station that isn't a McDonald's is a good thing. I think that the prices are reasonable considering the location. I see a lot of has reviews but I've never had a bad experience at la taverne du midi. I'll continue going. Edit September 2020, food was great, staff were amazing and very accommodating with baby. I highly recommend and will go again. No fuss food.

Arrived in St Jean by train after 14.00 hrs. Planned on having lunch at La café de Levant, but they had stopped serving. So I guess right next door at Le Taverne du midi. All the waiters were flying around clearing lunch settings. It took ages before I eventually ordered. Pan fried creamy gambas with saffron sauce, frites and salade. Sounded gorgeous. It arrived, 6 small gambas 5 half in the shell with full intestinal tract and one without shell or intestinal tract…..frites and salad very nice. Unrecognisable saffron sauce I had to ask what it was, unseasoned and absolutely disgusting, not sure what happened there. €18, quite expensive for lunchtime.

I cant understand why this restaurant has such as bad revies? We had an omelette and it was very delicious. may be it should be little more saltly. The omelette was fluffy and espresso was beter than in Pastel which is michelin BiB restaurant. (in Pastel I had menu without idea and paring with wine was I should say mediocer. And If I compare this two restaurant Pastel and the railway station bistro I was more satisfied in the bistro May be is something wrong with michelin awards and google revies?

Perfect for solo dining near the station. Great, traditional menu. Had the soupe de poissons and creme brulee, which were enjoyable. Very fast and friendly service. Excellent value!
