Sanjay Gandhi National Forest

National forest

👍👍 It's an awesome place to visit for 1 day. We get to see a lot of greenery and forest animals. It is a huge jungle area where we can visit different spots by different means like govt bus, cycles own vehicles are also allowed by having to pay extra fees for it. People often mention forest, visit, good, area, park, Sanjay, Gandhi, safari,

This protected area hosts many forms of wildlife. You can take a mini jungle safari in a caged bus which is around 25 minutes ride through 30 acres of fenced forest area. But unlike other national parks, the lions and tigers have been put in large enclosures. You can still spot deer, monkeys, wild cats, etc., in their natural habitat. Cycling is another very popular activity here for fitness enthusiasts. You can take your own bicycle or rent one in the park at quite reasonable prices. Cycling through the verdant forests that too in the middle of the city, can be a rejuvenating experience for any big-city dweller.

People attaching Sanjay Gandhi national parks image most of time but reality is different. Sanjay Gandhi national forest didn't have proper road to walk local people. Road is become a gutter. As you see my shared images. BMC ignoring or complaint for repairing this road.

As on today: 15 Nov 23. This place needs maintenance and revamp. Entry fees : Adult : ₹85 Child (5 to 12 yrs) : ₹45 Below 5 yrs : free entry Park car in dedicated parking area - 4 wheeler charge : ₹35/hr (cash / UPI) Best bus available to go to Canari caves- be ready to wait for long queues Boating for 15 mins (pedalled boats) 2 seats : ₹85 4 seats : ₹173 Carry enough water bottles for drinking water - water tanks available but don't know since when it has been cleaned. If visiting over weekends / holiday be ready for rush / crowd.

There is no such place at this location. A forest area starts here but it cannot be accessed by public. The area near it has been occupied by slum dwellers. There is only one Sanjay Gandhi Park, that's on the other side of the forest accessible from Thane side.

I stay in Thane only and so for me Sanjay Gandhi is at walking distance only, I go there when I need a fresh air . It's really a good place to chill and meditate. So like you can trek over here orelse you can go to have some good food in hotels over here like exotica - one of the tastiest and amazing food they serve. Morning time people come for a walk or for jogging. Seriously I have been a lot of times where people are not allowed to go deep inside the forest but I and my friends once went deep inside More than half n hour walk where you will be leaded at a place called as 7 waterfalls, amazing place with waterfalls where you could swim but only at rainy season. Beautiful forest and one of the biggest forest mumbai has. Last but not the least there are wild animals so be safe , rest you can take really good pics of the forest.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park, is an 87 km² protected area in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was established in 1969 with its headquarters situated at Borivali. The 2400-year-old Kanheri caves, sculpted by monks out of the rocky basaltic cliffs, lie within the park. The Kanheri caves, located centrally in the park, were important Buddhist learning centres and pilgrimage sites sculpted by Buddhist monks between the 9th and the 1st centuries BCE They were chiselled out of a massive basaltic rock outcropping. In 1996, the park was renamed to its current title, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, after Sanjay Gandhi. The same year, some forests from the Thane division were merged into the park, further expanding its total area to 103.84 km2 (40.09 sq mi).

Nice place to visit anytime, any season. Well maintained and well managed. Bicycle service is available within the park at ₹80/2 hours. Ancient Kanheri caves is just 6km away from Main gate, must visit attraction. Biodiversity here is the another attraction for students and other enthusiastic person, Nature lovers. Thank you Team SGNP👍🏻

Great place for natural forest visit in Mumbai. The location is also great just after city boundary. The place is natural and very less human intervention. It Should be developed as eco friendly tourist place. The govt should invest to make better place. Must visit for mumbaikars. Like the habitat here.

Place is good but charges are more compare to the facility which are provided is nothing , security is concern not a police officer of forest Dept visit over there . The garden is not maintained , the jungle safari is horrible they kept 3 tigers in cage and one outside cage safari is like a joke if you are lucky enough then you'll see the open together over there in safari ,70 RS charge and it's worthless. The forest is acquired by builders every year you can also see concrete jungle within forest . It's mainly there because it's proctect land that's all nothing more than that but for photography it's good place .
