Delicious Malaysian food. We got the mee goreng, chau kuey tiao, chicken rice and ice Kacang. The mee goreng and chau kuey tiao had good ‘wok hei’ or wok breath and very tasty. Good value too. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Malaysian food.

New Post - Oct 2023 I wanna to have their char kuay teow so return. We have also order the special of the day - curry yong tau fu. Both were great. There is a special 3 layer kopi (coffee with milk) which we also try but when it arrived, it's served with ice. Ah didn't know that. We also wanna comment that the two person table is right in front of the main door. When the main door opens, the chill wind gusts in and is not pleasant. Apparently there are more two person dining then a group during our visit. So they ended up sitting in bigger table. Perhaps have tables that can be adjusted so to accommodate different number of people. ---------------------------------------- We believe we have been here before but I couldn't find my review. So, after reading others' reviews of their good food, we decided to try. Service & Ambience [3.5]. A typical restaurant with minimal decoration. As we arrived prior to noon we got a table quite quickly. However the people starts coming as queue is formed. Service is quick but nothing above the norm. Food [4]. Ok I will usually order the CKT when come to a new Malaysian restaurant so that I can compare. My benchmark is Lu Lu CKT. I would say not bad and love the small deep fried pork (chu ya cha). The Sar Hor Fun is good, very similar to Wat Tan Hor. A bit disappointed to the popiah as it seems to be a vegetarian rolls and also dry. Finally the teh terik isn't hot enough. We met a friend there and she told us the Curry Laksa was popular. Perhaps next time.

This is our favourite Malaysian restaurant in Knox. Food is always consistent and tasty. This time we ordered takeaway via Uber eats and our order arrived on time, well packed and still warm. We ordered our favourite dishes, Chicken curry, beef Randeng, Singapore mee hoon and Nasi Goreng. Singapore noodles had the perfect spice level and hotness I like. Straits Cafe is highly recommended.

Straits a malaysian restaurant hidden in Wantirna did not disappoint! The dishes were flavorful and authentic. The service was friendly and efficient, adding to the enjoyable experience. However, the portion size was more suited for individuals than for sharing. A larger serving would make it perfect for groups. Finishing of the evening with ice kachang was perfect!

Hearty, authentic Malaysian food! I’ve tried quite a few different items from their menu and they’ve all tasted pretty nice. My favourite is their Char Kuey Teow. I also really like their Laksa, Hor Fun and Nasi Lemak.

Ordered the char kway teow, nasi lemak with beef rendang and lobak. The char kway teow could do with more wok hei flavour, but usually, it’s pretty decent. Meat in the rendang was really tough so wouldn’t order that again. Lobak is always fantastic and is always a 10/10. Food also came out really quickly which was good because I was hungry as.

We have found our new favourite Malaysian restaurant. One of the best we have tried in Melbourne. Previous we ordered the Penang char kway teow, you can taste the char. This time we ordered the Assam Laksa (extremely delicious) and Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang (also very delicious with the nuts). The Teh Tarik is best hot (not cold).

Popular Malaysian / Singaporean outlet in east side of Melbourne. This place always packed during lunch time. The menu including all popular name in Malaysian Singaporean hawkers world. Tasty food and quick service.

Dec2023: CKT with duck egg was yummy; chicken satay crispy with delicious peanut sauce. Tried their pulut hitam dessert. Ahhh … lovely ☺️ best taste so far among all the Malaysian restaurants I have tried. Nov2023: Nice popiah; not quite pasar malam level of taste but delicious for someone like me away frm KL for so long. Don’t forget to try their delicious CKT. Update Aug2023: Wantan mee & Hainanese chicken rice - sedap sekali. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 Some day Before June 2023: Finally, CKT with si ham!!! And double the eggs. Twas yummy!!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 my only query is “why were the si ham black? “ Are they canned ones or do Aussie clams turn black when fried?? I also ordered Hokkien char to take away. Can’t wait for dinner 😊 Friendly service, with a bit of wait for the food as people were continually in and out.

I'm starting to think that the reviews for this place is all fake! I' ve been to this restaurant about 4 times now and everytime I feel that maybe I need to give this place another chance, it literally gets worse. The food has been so bad this time that I'm starting to think that the chef has to be a Singaporean. The Fried rice had really raw bean sprouts in it. When has Chinese fried rice ever have bean sprouts? The Hokkien fried noodles used the wrong noodles which ruined the taste. The wantan hor was passable. I should have just gotten McDonalds.

Prices were reasonable and portion was OK. Nasi lemak, sek hor fan, crispy fried chicken were not bad. Curry laksa was OK and tasted more like "curry". Rojak was also OK. The Penang har mee was not as good as expected. I preferred the har mee at junior tan.

Excellent food & service tonight. Kat & the other staff were great with customer service throughout despite us adding more to the order a few times. Had so much to eat. Wasn’t fast enough to snap pics of the dishes like Char Koay Teow, Loh Bak & Ice Kachang before they were pounced on. Thank you Helen for the recommendations! Gotta watch for their specials too (Mee Jawa, etc.) when they become available.

Amazing food. I always come here for my all time favourite Sar Hor Fun or Wa Tan Hor. I really can't find a better place that sells the tastiest one. Their other food is great too, I have tried their fish head curry laksa, wonton noodles with chicken curry, prawn noodles and more. 100% can recommend this anytime. The best Malaysian tasting food out there.

Great as always! My family and I love coming here for their Char Kuey Teow, Char Tong Hoon (fried glass noodles) and Sar Hor Fun (noodles with egg gravy sauce). It's the first time we got the Popiah, which is only available on the weekends. It's pretty nice, but can't expect it to be like the originals back home. And we didn't know we can get them spicy too, maybe that also made the difference? We also got some kuihs and really enjoyed them. I love the Seri Muka. Overall, it's a great place to have your Char Kuey Teow and Malaysian food cravings fixed 😉

Simple decor typical of a no-frills Malaysian eatery. Fast service despite alot of takeaways and dine-ins. The char kuay teow (fried flat noodles) is a favourite, with its smoky wok hei (charred wok taste) and trimmings of egg, prawns, Chinese sausage, crunchy fried pork fat *drool* ; in cold weather Sar Hor Fun (fried flat rice noodles with seafood, chicken and vegetables topped with a creamy egg sauce) warms the soul; juicy fried chicken Marylands is good for groups (ask them to chop it up). Cute drinks such as Ribena Lychee doubles as a thirst quencher/dessert.

Fast service. Great dishes. Small menu which stays the same but is always done to the same high standard. A good range of specials to mix it up a bit when you fancy a change. Owners are lovely and give personal service to their regulars.

Take out and dine in a couple times here. Our family love their Hainanese Chicken Rice so much and CKT also is good one. We love their Chicken texture, cooked perfectly every time and didn’t overcooked. But the ASSAM soup noodles one was too sour, not recommended.

Heard about this several times from Malaysian friends and finally gave it a go. I can see why it's famous among the foodies. I had the fried tang hoon and loved it. Also appreciate the fact that the spicy option is real spice! Would definitely be back to try other items.

I had been to this place a year ago and it was good but it has gone downhill. The noodle has so much pork lard and so oily as if you have applied lip gloss after eating. When I asked the staff why the pork lard isn’t mentioned on the menu, I was told all Malaysia food has pork lard. One thumbs up was that they replaced one without pork lard for me but it’s still very oily!

Vegetarians and pescatarians beware!!! Ordered a Hokkien Char Mee with only seafood and no chicken as takeaway. Found chicken after taking the first bite. Very disappointed. Food was otherwise good.

Give it a go and tried the Malaysian dessert which was not my cup of tea as it tasted kind of "essence* cake! Look delicious but definitely won't buy again. Probably will dine in and try for the Malaysian food instead.

Malaysian food. But I have eaten better. The Char Kway Tiao is alright, not the best. Gives me a feeling that it was not pre-cooked and heated up quickly. The nasi lemak is fine, malaysian style. The popiah, was disappointing to me. Does any part of malaysia use cabbage for popiah instead of bang kwang or turnip? And they used the red sweet sauce usually meant for yong tau hu instead of a black sweet sauce.

Has been there many years, food is authentically Malaysian. Char Kway Teow is the main attraction.... with chicken rice and rojak.... the pace setter !!! The original owner has been running it well. As always, there is a line up to get in especially at lunchtime. Have not been there for some time but today's visit shows improvement in the dishes. Place to go if you are around Wantirna, Studd Road.
