Nice spot to relax after a long drive or a big hike up and down the 1000 steps. Coffee is proper and service is kind. They've got a calm interior space with some interesting art pieces on the walls.

A good place to start the day with coffee and some walk through 1000 steps. Always busy and nice coffee, hot... Staff is always nice and kind and ready to serve you.

I wish I could give ten stars. I've been coming here for eight years. The same owner has been serving at the counter that entire time. She's employed the same chef all eight years and his lovely family. The food is delicious, particularly the mngo avocado chicken salad. And they do a variety of quality coffees. They have both inside and outside seating, both with plenty of tables and plenty of space. Eating at the outside tables amongst the trees is a delight. As they warm you, watch out for the cheeky opportunistic kookaburras who want to share your lunch. Also, check out the owner's husband's art. It's clear they all really enjoy working there. It's a perfect way to finish up your walk after the 1000 steps without having to even move your car. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The place to be for a snack or grubs before or after and the nearest to the Kokoda walking track in lush forest. Coffees, teas, smoothies, sandwiches, burgers, sweets, omelettes, ice-creams... Lots seats in and outdoor. Peaceful area and beautiful view around. Staff are friendly.

Great spot for a bit of refreshments after walking the steps!! Or before 🙂 There is indoor and outdoor dining, it can be a bit chilly outside, so be prepared. I ordered the "large" soy flat white, omg this mug was huge!! Next time its a medium 😂 I also got the smoked salmon sandwich, it was really good, and healthy. I did dine outside and had a a cute bird try to get my food! So don't leave it unattended and be ready to wave them off!! Great spot, give it a shot! Enjoy!

Nice little cafe conveniently located at the base of the hike, perfect for rewarding yourself after all that walking. Ordered the brekkie burger and a mango smoothie and both were great. Bit pricey overall due to surcharge for public holiday but still would recommend visiting.

Good coffee and very nice breakfast meals as well. I'm consistently surprised by the quality of the food. The atmosphere is chill, with lots of light and local artwork up on the wall for sale. Also cool to sometimes see local artists working and painting inside the cafe.

A great place to eat before and after hikes, placed underneath the walk next to the washroom. The atmosphere was amazing with a lot of people resting, beautiful trees around. The food was okay tho, nothing special.

This cafe is must to go to. There burgers are the best and they serve as a great reward after sweating it out doing the steps. Absolutely in love with their signature chicken burger and order it every time I'm there. On top of that, they have great service and are very friendly. I highly recommend this place!

This review is just based on the dirty chai latte and black sesame latte. Both were delicious!!! The dirty chai was spicy and amazing, one of the best blends I've tried. The black sesame latter was very different. The closest thing I could compare it to are the asian glutinous rice balls with black sesame fillings. It was very delicious.

Look out for the swooping kookaburras! We were eating at the outdoor tables, and a kookaburra swooped down out of nowhere, landed on my daughters plate, and flew away with half her sandwich. The staff were nice enough to replace her sandwich and hot chocolate at no extra charge. They said it happens a lot, which means to me that she should put up a sign to warn customers. If you’re wanting a sandwich, it’s best to be there before around 2pm.

I walked into this Cafe and the owner an Asian lady served me and I asked do you have hot chips and what size? She showed me the size and I said yes that's fine, I then asked her what else they had to eat and she handed me the menu. I asked her for nuggets, a brownie and a caramel slice. She charged me $15.30, I waited 10 minutes for nuggets and then asked her what about the chips and she told me I didn't order it. I told her that the chips was the first thing I asked for, she started to scream and accuse me of not ordering it and saying I only paid $15.30, I told her that she's the one that stuffed the order up by not putting in the order correctly and back and forth about the $15. I told her not to speak to me like that, being rude and she was honestly embarrassing herself screaming at me infront of the customers and as I went to pay she told me that she is the owner and she didn't have to serve me. This is the first time coming here, absolute worst experience and rude owner I've come across in my life, never again. Don't go there.

As I said when I described our visit to the Dandenong Ranges we went to the 1000 Steps Cafe and enjoyed some coffee and cake. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the Cafe has a good selection of food and cakes, including some gluten free options. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery and the birds which included a kookaburra, some rosellas, magpies and a few small birds. Highly recommend a visit if you haven't been there before, we will definitely be going back soon.

Nice place. Food was alright but a tad highly priced. It's the only cafe before you head to or after heading back from 1000 steps. They are currently building a playground attached to the cafe. Overall, a good place to rest you feet after the climb and catch a snack.

This Cafe is unique in that uses the best quality of ingredients in the food. The cakes are especially good, such as the Orange cake and muffins. The breakfast of Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise Sauce was exceptional. Service with a smile too. Keep up the good work, guys!✌

Lovely spot for lunch. Very welcoming and good service. Meals came out very quickly. Had roast beef toastie and calamari on salad. Both meals very well presented and very tasty. Coffees were great. All good value. Fire on inside too - cold and wet outside.

The only place that sells food near the 1000 steps walk which explains why it can get really crowded at times. Ordered an iced dirty chai which was quite good, it’s my first time having such a drink so I can’t really judge whether it’s nicer or worse compared to other places but it was refreshing with a tinge of spicy aftertaste. It was $6 which I thought was a bit on the high for the price. They sell food and ice creams too. Staffs were friendly as well. There’s a minimum eftpos of $4.50 FYI.

Had coffee here twice - simple catering but it’s all you need to top off an enjoyable tranquil setting and walk. To the customer in there being rude and obnoxious with her partner not saying a word; you should be ashamed of yourself- you were horrible to the owner and her young staff member over a sandwich being lightly microwaved- the owner apologised to you and offered a refund. You continued carrying on and still took the sandwich/ I felt very sorry for the cafe workers. Change your mood before ordering FOOD.

It is nice to have cafe there..well needed when back exhausted after the trail. we ordered lentils and veg soup...however.. it was more like vegetables soup with canned mix beans.. Overall good service and atmosphere; however food is average.

I have been here over a 100 times and each time the food, the drinks, and the service has been impeccable. The owner is the loveliest person I know and makes the best coffee. They have a great selection of home-made desserts. PS- Love their hot chips♥️

This place is cozy and the staff member was sweet and friendly. They have vegan options as well for desserts. We really enjoyed the cakes. The chai lattes are more creamy and wished it was bit more flavourful with the spices. But the place is wonderful and highly worth a try...

Not a pretty cafe with superb food. It looks more like a canteen. Food and coffee were okay but a bit overpriced compared to the quality. I would probably not go back there for a meal but maybe just for a drink. Staffs were friendly.

First time been here. Ordered a cappuccino, milkshake and chips+nuggets, paid $24. First we’ve been served a bowl of chips, thought they’d serve nuggets later. Of course my daughter started to eat the chips. About 10 mins later, we’ve been served a plate of nuggets and chips. After a bit of a confusing, thought maybe this is the way they serve, was gonna ask the staff but there was something going on with them. Later on the owner came said sorry and took the bowl of chips from the table and stormed off. I’ve never experienced this kind of attitude anywhere in my life. We ate the half of it, she took it away while we were still eating. So apparently, the bowl was for another customer, they’ve been served after she took the bowl from our table so not sure if she topped it up and served it to the other customer. If not, what was the point of taking away the food? She could’ve simply served the other customers food the moment they’ve realised the situation and then kindly explain us about the confusion. We would pay for it. But geez, it’s just a bowl of chips. As an owner, you explain the situation to the customer without expecting them to pay for your own mistake. In return, you have your return customers. It’s a decent coffee in the beautiful mt Dandenong area. I love the area so much and try to get there as much as I can but I will never get anything from this coffee ever again unless the owner changes. It’s a shame that she doesn’t know how to deal with situations as an owner. The other stuff are nice though.

Grab a delicious coffee before climbing the steps. Quick service. Maybe a good idea to rather have a coffee AFTER the hike for there is nowhere on the hike to dispose of the cup. Toilet facilities clean and convenient.

A nice warm Cafe with a real fire. Simple menu with good food and coffee to match. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We will be returning.

Amazing place to have breakfast, specially after some hiking/trecking at 1000 Steps. Good menu with tasty food on offer. We liked the milkshake and big breakfast and found it definitely worth coming back for.
