Burkes look out is probably second only to skyhigh look out, it’s worth the drive but do yourself a favour and don’t bother to try get a park at look out only about 10 spots and over weekend many people visit. Best to park at Singleton Reserve a easy 3 minute walk up the road. Plus their are a couple of picnic benches if you wish to eat and relax. No dogs allowed 😀

Burkes Lookout at Mount Dandenong has to be one of the most beautiful lookouts in Melbourne. And even though you can get a similar view from the nearby Mount Dandenong Observatory (SkyHigh Restaurant), Burkes Lookout is a much more naturalistic and less commercial vantage spot (you also avoid the entrance fee!). From the lookout, you can see all the way to the city, and beyond to the bay. The lookout is actually on the Kyeema track which you should have no trouble finding. There are places to park nearby. The track is wide and well maintained. There is a platform there from which paragliders sometimes launch . The track is named after the Kyeema airplane that crashed into the side of Mount Dandenong in 1938 killing all aboard. A memorial stands at the crash site. It is a somber and respectful reminder about the fragility of life.

A stunning picturesque lookout of Melbourne from atop the Dandenong Ranges National Park. No matter which track you take, be sure to stop by the Burke's lookout! If you're looking for a quick challenge, the Glasgow track to Burke's lookout is highly recommended and extremely rewarding. It is a very steep 2.3km hike at 350m (80 storeys) of elevation to the lookout, at almost a 45° incline for the first kilometer. Rated as "difficult". Best with solid-grip shoes, water, and in clear weather. I took this route and had to pause to catch my breath many times; but I'm far from a marathon runner.

Amazing spot with spectacular views over Melbourne. Not recommended if you have toddlers or young kids as it can be dangerous in certain spots. No toilets or amenities exist. Quite raw and virgin.

Wasn’t a real clear day for a good view so just took a couple of photos Near the car park. iPhone 15 pro max fully zoomed in on second photo. Amazing.

One of the best lookouts that i have visited. Sky was a bit cloudy hence we couldn't enjoy the sunset. Bit the 400m from the car park was worth it. Limited car sports available so when you park do think about others ♥️.

Absolutely awesome little spot with some super impressive views. I believe you could see Geelong from here on a clear day. New years eve would be awesome here. Very peaceful lots of places to sit and eat. The walk is about 200 meters easy enough for everyone. Wheel chairs are ify. I couldn't fly the drone for aerial shots because of the super high winds. I will come back to get some.

It is accessible to visitors openly but the carpark area is small and very congested. It is safe to walk around the track on your left as you walk inside so that you can see all angles of view from above over Melbourne Metro suburbs and farmlands

Short walk from the Burkes Lookout car park. Scenic views over eastern Melbourne all the way to the city and Port Philip Bay. Access via Osprey Road. Very limited car parking. No facilities at the lookout or nearby. Worth the stop though!

Relaxing pleasant stroll of under 1km to lookout. Basic track with a slight return incline. Perfect for prams if required.

Great spot to go for a sunset lookout, especially in the summer months. It does get quite busy and there is no real seating for observing the sunset. Due to the direction it faces, being on the side of the mountain, you are unable to see sunrises, and only able to see sunsets

Spectacularly unique experience. Observing how flat Australia is! It is a spectacular location to see the landscape of Melbourne. Melbourne skyscrapers are vividly visible as tiny dots. If you look with high attentiveness, you can even see Geelong! Having moved to Australia from Europe, I am not used to being able to see such a flat land. It is a very cool experience and definitely recommended. Also, there are beautiful local pubs or bakeries to complement your trip! Probably a day should suffice.

My family have a good time over here. We have a nice long walk, chilling out and see view like this. It’s heavenly satisfying and it’s free of charge. Definitely worth checking out. 👍

It's a good lookout spot and you can see the ranges and silvan dam in a distance. There is a cafe nearby to buy your coffee and eatables. There's a BBQ place in the kalorama park which you can see from this spot. Good carpark spot. Wheel chair accessible.

We took the hardest trekking path from Glasgow road. We parked our car down at the Glasgow and sherridian intersection and climbed through rocky path all the way to the top. If you love hiking and can spend about 2 hours take the rocky path instead of soft road. Worth a try!!

Amazing views of great Melbourne however the maps took us to the top of the hill. From there, you need to walk past the gate and down a path on the left that leads you down a trail which eventually opens up to the viewpoint. Took some amazing photos on a clear day. I've heard coming here at night is equally breath taking.

This is one of the most popular places in Melbourne to watch the sunset from. You can also get great views of the bay and of Melbourne City The surrounding grass area and forrest at Burkes Lookout is not geared for too many visitors and it has no flat areas, tables, BBQs, toilets or seats. To get to the best viewpoints you will need to take a short walk / hike along the Kyeema Track. This area also houses the tall and imposing television and radio transmission towers which form such a prominent part of the Dandenong Ranges skyline

It's a good lookout place. You can climb the rocky path from downstairs or park nearby to walk few mins to b arrive. If the weather is good, you could have the spectacular views including the CBD.

A beautiful free lookout over the Melbourne! Don’t afraid of the narrow way to top and small parking lots… you should walk around 500 meters down between trees to find the lookout spot! A very peaceful, quiet place for walking, viewing, and enjoying!

  • 4/5 JQ Z. 4 months ago on Google • 20 reviews
In front of this viewpoint, there are no trees obstructing the view, allowing an unobstructed panorama from the CBD to the eastern area, showcasing the beauty of Melbourne.

Nice Lookout. Visit when the weather is good. Take binoculars with you to explore. Very limited parking available. Enjoy.

Splendid place, one of the best thing people can do at the Dandenongs!!

The scenery at the top of the mountain is beautiful and the view is very wide. If the weather is good, you can even see the buildings in the city. It should be noted that half of the open space near the nearest entrance does not allow parking. The highway patrol may come to the mountain to issue tickets.

Great spot, on the right day to see the city and the sunset. Carpark is small. It is an easy walk from the car park to the main lookout area. Can get very busy on a nice clear day. View and sunset not great on our last visit.

Superb views across eastern suburbs of Melbourne to the CBD and beyond. Port Phillip Bay and mountains are also visible.

Stunning views of Melbourne from the Dandenong Ranges National Park. On a clear day, this free alternative to SkyHigh offers the same great views.

  • 5/5 Lou L. 1 year ago on Google
More breathtaking in person. Carpark can get quite busy but as you pull up others are leaving.

From the location you can see very clearly and beautiful views of Melbourne. I am recommending you to visit this place and make sure go after sunset.

One of the best lookout that can view Yarra Valley with a bit of hiking down the slope. Heard from a local that gliders did your airborne glide from this lookout too. If you parked at the tower, you will have to hike down the fence to the slightly slippery walking trail. Turn left, and you have have a full view on this magnificent lookout for the full view at the gliding platform.

This place had a decent view of Melbourne when not cloudy. However limited parking and a fairly hidden track leading up to the point! Wouldn't recommend driving your Lamborghini to this place as it has gravel leading up there. Great place to have a quiet picnic with some friends.

Nice view, just a 3 mins walk from the Burke Lookout car park/ the 688 bus stop. I don’t recommend people to walk from the no.2 car park because there’s a fence, while the way from car park no.1 has a more decent view. Regardless, this is a nice place for thinking about my life.

Quiet spot with a tiny window of a look out. Great spot for a quiet picnic on a sunny day with plenty of shade under the trees. Not much else here. Free Parking available for 2 cars only.

Beautiful lookout. Was hiking up from the base of the mountain and it was very steep, very rocky at some spots but the view up here is worth it and you can find places to sit too along the pathway at the top.
