Nice joint. Affordable, with a loyal local following and tasteful décor. Friendly staff and clean bathroom. When you finish, call over the waiter and tell him you’re ready to pay the Czech. :)

Talk about a charming authentic Slovakian restaurant. A friend of mine brought us here so we could sample foods from her culture and it was the highlight of our weekend. The food was flavorful and cooked to perfection. You have got to start with the bread. It’s almost like a challah but far lighter. it was amazing!!!! Everyone in the group agreed they would be going back.

Had a lovely dinner at Koliba with my girlfriend who is from Slovakia. We both agreed that Koliba is like a small pocket of slovakia in the middle of NYC. The food is very tasty, the beer is cold and the service is attentive - even if you do not speak slovakian. Definitely worth a visit if you want to try trafitional slovak food.

Our Czech friend brought us to this place claiming this is the most authentic Czech food in New York and boy did it not disappoint. The assault of meat and cheese and cabbage dishes was roughly what I expected; it left me moaning as the next dish rolled out onto our table. I’d say the duck was the best of them, closely followed by the smoked pork. Make sure you order few shots of sliviza to make this all go down smoothly. Desert is probably best ordered somewhere else.

Feels just like the restaurants in Slovakia. Phenomenal food made from scratch. Polite server and comfortable atmosphere with folk decorations. Highly recommend.

Went with a friend who lived in Prague for the better part of a decade. The schnitzel was delicious, the side of potato salad was worth the price alone. “Dumpling Cubes with Eggs” (unsure of the Czech name) were unbelievable. I will be coming back for that dish alone. And the beers were big and cold.

Extremely good food. The garlic cheesy bread was maybe the best bread I've had in my life

Absolutely love this restaurant. The smoked pork and red cabbage are so good. Its very affordable and servers are very nice and accommodating though can be slow at times. The atmosphere inside is so cozy and fun, and there is outside seating for some fresh air

Authentic Czechoslovak cuisine and beer. The ambiance is amazing and brings you back to the old folk times in Czechoslovakia with ceramic, wooden drawings and many other decorations lining the walls. The wait staff was also fantastic. Two friendly and beautiful waitresses took care of the small restaurant. They spoke in Slovak or English, whatever worked for the customer. They are happy and enjoy what they do which makes the experience that much better. Their food was excellent and in plentiful portions. I had the garlic soup (cesnaková polievka), dumplings with sheep's cheese (bryndzové halušky) and Czechovar beer. I would come back again the next time I am in town. If you want to try a taste of Czechoslovakia stop by this restaurant, you won't regret it.

Best duck in NYC? YES! It would be a challenge to find better duck, ente, kachna than at Koliba. It's not available every day, so call before you go, but go anyway! It's tender, juicy, meat, its thin crispy perfect skin will delight your taste buds. It's not on the menu, make sure you ask for it. If they don't have it, everything is excellent. I hate duck at most restaurants. It is occasionally acceptable. At Koliba, it's traditional European preparation will make you change your opinion about duck. Brought with red cabbage and knedliky (dumplings). My wife had beef with dill sauce and extra dill sauce haha which is homestyle cooking in Czech tradition. Excellent pivo (beer) too of course. Started with garlic polevka soup and sauerkraut soup, great beginning to the meal. We've been here 4-5 times over 15 years and they have never disappointed! Note that I couldn't resist taking a taste of the duck before I took the picture haha!

Very authentic Slovak/check food and beers. The staff is all very nice and actually from those 2 countries. I always have the brindzove Halusky which is like their version of Mac and cheese but believe me is way better. I really recommend this place for people that like to try new flavors and experiences

Great beer, great place. We did not eat ... just drink. Definitely will come back as the food I saw on people's table looked great.

This restaurant is wonderful. Such a great, authentic ambiance and delicious food. The pierogies and goulash are so good - we order them almost every time. Cheap house wine and draft beers offset the expensive entrees, but they're worth the cost anyway (and they're photogenic too).

Finally checked out this place last night. Dined in with a friend, and we shared a few things (garlic bread, smoked ham and cabbage, pierogis). I was very impressed with everything we ordered and would highly recommend all of it, though I'm sure other items are great too. Really enjoyed the beer I ordered (BrouCzech Dark) as well. Very glad this place exists, and I'll definitely be coming back!

Took us right back to the Czech Republic, serving delicious traditional comforting food and perfect beer, all inside an atmosphere very similar to Czech interiors. They’ll even ask if you want to speak in Czech or English. Na Zdraví!

Wonderful česnakova, and pečene kachna! The knedlik was really good too! Hands down the best Czech/Slovak restaurant in the U.S.!

I love Koliba. It's homey, the food is simple and rustic and delicious. The prices are low and the portions are large. the kielbasa is amazing and the garlic soup I find myself thinking about days after a visit.

The food I had was delicious. Wasn't expecting the same quality I had in eastern europe but this place truly is authentic and really good.

Food was incredibly well made and delicious, you can tell it’s made with love. A little pricey but the food and atmosphere makes it totally worth it. The owner was also personable and welcoming. Definitely coming back here soon! FYI tips are cash only :)

I absolutely love this place. The food is soooo goood!! Their duck with potatoes and the chicken schnitzel are a gift to mankind. The only thing I love more than Czech food are Czech women.

Our dinner was really delicious. We had a roast duckling with red cabbage and a mug of draft pilsner beer

If you want Czech sitdown food and beer, Koliba is the place for you. Generous portions of roast and smoked pork along saurkraut, schnitzel, sausages, and other wonderful offerings will fill your belly and satisfy your tastebuds. Try a Pislner Urquell on tap, the world's original Pilsner, and feel your in the Czech Republic! One of Astoria's best.

This place is amazing! The food is fantastic and very reasonable price! The tripe soup is so delicious. Pork Schnitzel is very flavorful. The food portion is quite big, good size to share. The boiled or grilled sausage is A Must! They accept card(no amex) but tips cash only.

I've never had Czech food before and went with my friend who wanted authentic Czech beer and food. The interior is very fun and closest to what he says he saw in Czech. The waitresses were very nice. Weird that they close as early as 9pm. The food was fine but wouldn't again pay $27 for schnitzel.

come for the beer and slivovitz not for the décor, and definitely not for the service. smiles are not on the menu no matter how much money you have. lots of fired stuff.

This restaurant is great! The food is authentic, their mashed potato is beyond any words. They have the best garlic soup I’ve ever tried! The ambient is great and the waitress is doing her best to be on point. The reason I am giving a 4 star rating is the owner. The woman couldn’t care less about the guests, most of the time she just sits around, not helping her employee at all. On my last visit she sort of tried to help out but generally sees to be detached from her business.
