There are not enough stars to rate a holy place such as this. Originally, Monostary was built in 4th century and archeological team found it and it can be seen under the glass in side Monostary. It is a place of peace and love, great energy and respect to monks who served there and are rebuilding Tvrdos complex. There is always someone who will tell you about history at least for the last five hundred years. If you go here, do not wear shorts or shirt without sleeves for men and womens who enter must have covered legs and shoulders. In side the Monostary you can see icons carved in stone, holy relics, but most of all you will find peace and go home with a full hart. In front is a gift shop, pay attention what do you like, do not spend to much time because you will probably spend more money that planed. I would recommend a bottle of vine (around 8 euros, any icon that catches your eye (from 20 to 800, depending are they gold and silver plated), maybe a book and that would be it. But, you can always "go with a flow" and buy whatever your like. And bring a bottle of vine, white flower for baking bred and oil, that is a tradition when visiting any Monostary. But, do not miss of road leads you there.

I am not sure what I was expecting here but it was "nice" but not "wow". There is a small church to visit and a nearby cemetery. You have to cover up when visiting and wraps are available at the entrance suitable for both male and female.

Visited this place as part of a three country wine tour. The gentleman doing the wine tasting was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to tailor the offering to our tastes. Award winning wine, beautiful location, lovely host. Visited the monastery as well. Be warned, no shorts our skirts allowed, need to be covered to enter.

important orthodox monastery which is a proof of history events here played in the past. There is a big parking space in front of the monastery. Inside of the monastery you can buy homemade wine, honey, rakija, and many other souvenirs to take home with you. Entrance is of course free. During the summer it is really overcrowded because there are a lot of tourists groups coming here.

We came here as part of a wine tasting tour, and it was exceptional from the perspective of the wine tasting (pretty sure a reservation is required), and also as a cultural experience. Our host was a gentleman who had once lived in Canada, so we made a nice connection, and he was a joy to speak with. Both the red and white wines we tasted were beautiful, proving to us that Croatia is not the only game in town when it comes to wine from the region. One thing to note, is that there is a strict dress code in the monestery, and wrap around cloths are provided at the entrance. For a man, I think I rocked the skirt look pretty well, but if that is not your style, I suggest long pants and a shirt that covers your shoulders. At the entrance is a gift shop where you can buy the monastery wines and olive oil. It also happened to be one of the better general gift shops we encountered on our entire trip. Overall it was a great place and well worth the relatively short drive from Dubrovnik.

I've heard about this ancient monastery for long time ago but didn't have time to visit it til last weekend. I am absolutely delighted with everything about this monastery. The peace that I felt dwelling inside it was remarkable, frescos and mosaics are beautiful though they are from not long ago because this monastery was demolished many times and rebuilt once more. The first written marks says that it was first built in forth century and those foundations you can see thru glass in flor. But the other good thing that this monastery has to offer is some of the best wines, they make Cabernet, Merlo , white wine called "Žilavka" and some sweet wines too. I strongly recommend visiting Tvrdosh monastery.

We walked there from Trebinje. The Monastery Tvrdoš is a 15th-century Serbian Orthodox monastery. Nice area, amazing garden and beautiful monastery.

This ancient monastery is exceptional in every way, peace and tranquility felt inside was something else. They have their wine, honey and olive production inside the monastery and it is really good to taste and buy in the shop, if you are in Trebinje monastery Tvrdos is place to visit.

Serbian Ortodox Monastery from IV century b.c. makes you think how long these people are living here in the hostile nature of rocks

A gem monastery near Trebinje. A combination of wonderful arhitecture friendly monks and a nice wine cellar.... What else do you need? A must see!
