Interesting experience. Great place for long walks. The aviary is a very good place to see and learn more about the birds and their behaviour. Plus is an excellent day out for the kids.

Book in advance , it gets really busy in autumn. They sell coffee from a shack , ice cream and wood turning . There is garden centre, cafe and shop . They don't alow picnics in the grounds but you can have one at the entrance on the picnic benches. I seen plenty of dogs about , all on leads . Nice colours but think may need to go in another few weeks

A beautiful morning to visit Batsford. The trees were just beginning to turn. We enjoyed lunch of sandwiches & soup in the lovely restaurant. Much bigger than last we visited & very well staffed.

On a wet and windy day in March, I visited Batsford after a gap of 30 years for my birthday and I was not disppointed. We had pre-booked our tickets online, so had an arrival time to aim for. The Arboretum was easy to find using the sat-nav and the brown tourist signs and parking was a plenty on the day. There are two routes down to the entrance from the top car park, either by the accessible ramp or via some steps. Once inside the building, there are toilets, a garden centre, gift shop and café. At the far end is a counter where some lovely ladies are ready to take your booking reference number, show you the map and answer any questions you may have (Look out for the trees highlighted on the board by the door). I was really glad we took our walking boots today, as the paths were wet and muddy in places and it is always better to be safe at this time of year. Using the map and information sheet, we plotted a route around the grounds and hoped we would be able to visit all the areas of interest. Halfway round, the weather turned for the worse and we were very grateful for the sign showing us the way back to the gift shop and café. We decided to have a hot meal in the café, along with a mug of hot chocolate and watched the red kites from the window by the terrace. The menu was clear to read and there was plenty of food to choose from. The staff who served us and those who cleared the tables, were polite and friendly and I found the café to be clean and pleasant to sit in. Back in the Arborteum, we visited swathes of daffodils, early cherry blossom, a few magnolias, skunk cabbages along the water's edge and spotted the odd rhododendron in flower. Overall, we really enjoyed our Spring visit to Batsford, including a look around the garden centre and plan to return soon, but at a different time of year.

Beautiful place to visit. We didn't realise it was best to book in advance (luckily there were tickets available when we arrived). Lovely afternoon exploring.

A really nice Arboretum to walk around. The colours are starting to change on the trees. The cafe was also good, although as it was the end of the day so they only had a few bits to choose from. However the menu looked inviting.

Went as a yearly member which is great value. We go every season and there is always more to see. We love this place! For those unable to visit themselves I do video tours and this is one not to be missed when it is released soon! Kerriraystravels dot com. For now I'll leave you with some photos!

An autumn visit today was wonderful. Beautiful gardens with stunning colours of these gorgeous trees. The paths are well laid out with a few steep parts but generally pretty easy walking for all. Very nice cake in the cage too.

Great place for spring bloom, cafe is nice with lots of places. Easy to park. Not bad for pram/wheel chair, there is dedicated route for them and marked really clear on the map.

Beautiful haven with gorgeous views, delightful planting and such diversity of trees, both rare and favourites. Interesting history too. Great cafe for lunch with generous indoor and outdoor space and options for gluten and dairy free.

Had a really great visit here for the first time. The arboretum itself is fantastic and so is the restaurant/cafe- all the staff I had dealings with were helpful and efficient. Restaurant menu interesting and very competently prepared. The brierty of plants in the garden centre is also extensive sndI barely got out without spending money on plant pots which are especially well priced.

I have been twice - a lovely place for a pretty, hilly walk and large, light restaurant with good drinks and food. Some great trees, plants, flowers and buildings. It’s a little pricey for the size but not bank breaking! I’m sure we’ll return.
