Got the clam chowder and crab cakes. No shade but the rice was the best part of the meal, which is not what I expected. It's good, don't get me wrong. But you'll pay a pretty penny here for a meal. Maybe I would only return for a special occasion.

Not impressed. Again.. so excited for a good restaurant in Coventry.. but nope. . I know it's a soft open right now, but everything was just ok. Nothing great. My Veal Parm was thick. Not much flavor at all. Same for the chicken parm. The sauce doesn't have a great flavor either. Just ok. The portion sizes are big and if that is what you are looking for then this is your place. The prices were about $25 a meal.. so throw in an app and a couple drinks and the bill is $100. Definitely needs more flavor. I don't like the seating. I was sat at a table four feet from the hostess. Other patrons standing watching you eat. Just not comfortable. The tables and floor are pretty, but it needs more of a family atmosphere as well. I might try again in a few months to see if things get better after they are established.

It’s good seafood but not worth the price. There are other restaurant better or comparable with Legal Sea Foods for less the price. We seated at bar counter (with 2 kids) because the wait for tables are longer. Bartender service are great. Restaurant and restroom are clean. Close to New England Aquarium and other boat tour / attractions

The service with Melissa was fantastic. Food quality and portions were amazing. Everything came out from the kitchen hot and fresh. It is a limited menu due to the soft opening and they are working kinks out. We will definitely be back!!!! Thank you, Melissa!

The hype is true. Great place to go for fresh seafood. I hadn't been back to Boston in about 20 years. Fist place we booked was Legal. Still the best chowder ever!! Loved the mussels and a half lb lobster roll was amazing!! We won't wait 20 years to come back again. Lived every bite. Glad they are popping some Legals up in Chicago soon.

We came here for cocktails and seafood. The food was good and didn't disappoint. The cocktails were on the expensive side but well made. Between the 3 of us we tried 4 different types of oysters based on the waiter's recommendation. They were very good and fresh. The clams were good as well. Portions here are abundant. The lobster roll was huge and tasted pretty good. Fried seafood was done with a light and flavorful breading. My imperial sole dish with the breaded lump crab on top was quite delicious. Food is on the expensive side but was to be expected. Water was not refilled once although the waiter came by multiple times. It was a good dining experience overall with delicious dishes.

This place has some of the best Clam Chowder, it was on point, definitely have to try it. I had a New England Crab Roll, great stuff as well, I beleive its worth the price. We tried the Lobster Mac & Cheese as well as the Salmon BLT. Each one was good, nothing special, but they where good items. Unfortunately I did have a small bad experience when my plate arrived. The server did have my plate remade, but by the time it arrived, my family was done eating so I had to get it to go. It did ruined my lunch but, but things happen. I know its a 5 star worthy restaurant, but my lunch was ruined, so for me its a 4.5.

Good spot and nice view. Could sit outside or inside. Had a starter - England Clam Chowder, it was very good. Highly recommend! Ordered crispy fish sandwich with French fries and sweet corns, the sandwich, sweet corns are okay. Probably not try it again.

Y’all, going to Legal Seafoods was life changing for me 😂 I mean never have I EVER seen lobster Mac and cheese presented like this and the crab cake was so succulent! Not to mention we had the sweetest waiter ever! (Legal Sea Foods - give Santiago a raise for me, please.) everything literally was a 10/10 and I NEED to go back.

The restaurant was across the street from port for the whale watching tour, so it convenient to stop at. My wife did not finish here food because the quality was less than the check. Highly over priced for the food served, my wife had the seafood casserole and I had basic fish and chips. Neither were good. The outdoor seating was cold (because it was cold with the wind blowing). They did not provide any heating elements even though it was clear that customers were uncomfortable. Overall I would not eat here again or recommend it to friends.

Legal is truly my measuring stick for a great seafood restaurant. The fried combo (fish, scallops, calamari and shrimp) comes with two sides (I took firs and rice both were good, even coleslaw was really good 8/10). It was perfectly fried without being soaked in oil. Also the crab cake combo which comes with 3 grilled shrimps a d 3 grilled scallops was so healthy and good. It came with blue cheese salad which was 8/10. It is by the port where u can see the ships and partly the water.

Seriously, we are so thankful Pat's has come to Coventry. Food has been delicious (and we have eaten there 10+ times). The veal and chicken parmigiana tastes like grandma's. So lucky that they are open and providing curbside pickup during this crisis.

The appetizers were great. We ordered the crab cake, fried calamari and clam chowder. The crab cake & clam chowder was delicious. Calamari was a bit oily. As for entrees, the steak's seasoning was bad (there wasn’t any). The steak swordfish was also a bit bland. But overall with some additional salt & pepper, they were not too bad. The lobster mac n cheese was the best entree!

We loved eating here outside on a beautiful day. Our server, Isadora, was so friendly. The food was great, fresh... and for someone who doesn't eat seafood, this is monumental. My husband wanted to eat here, so I ordered the Greek Salad. But, I was won over. The lobster roll was delicious as was the grilled shrimp. We ordered a side of green beans, also good.

Follow the good reviews to the Legal Seafood. My friend tried the lobster roll, not bad. Lot of carbs, including bread and fries. Clam chowder was good though, recommended. I tried the sesame crusted tuna (medium rare) on the new menu, not bad. The string bean was surprising good. portion is generous. not crowd around 1pm right after the whale watch cruise.

I'm talking to my phone now okay a very nice seafood restaurant. Emphasis on seafood! I had clam chowder, very nice - clams on the half shell very nice - haven't had them as good in a long time. And also had the sole which had a crab stuffing - also very nice along with a couple of draft beers. They have seating at the bar with bar height chairs they also have their regular seating with regular high tables but they also have bar height tables and chairs, which we find a lot more comfortable.

Great atmosphere and directly across the street from the Wharf and lots of activities. The food was spectacular, perfectly seasoned and anything fried wasn’t greasy. Our favorites were the Lobster Roll and New England Clam chowder.

This was phenomenal. The food was fresh and excellent quality. The ambiance and staff enthusiasm was exhilarating. Everyone was moving fast and kept smiles on their faces from time you walk in the door until you leave. Fresh variety of seafood from raw oysters to grill items, fried and combo plates. This was a great recommendation from an ex-Bostonian.

We came in at 9:30 pm from a long trolley tour. They closed at 10 but assured us we had plenty of time to eat. We were seated immediately. The atmosphere was relaxing and we sat in front of the windows overlooking the sidewalk and the bustling street outside, which was great for people watching. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. Portions were larger than expected and fish and crab cakes were crispy and flaky. Service remained excellent to the end and the waitress even offered suggestions of her favorite places to visit while in the city. Highly recommend.

The view around the place was spectacular. We enjoyed the port view and the seat by the glass window where we can eyed to the street next to it. We ordered lobster rolls and crispy calamarie Thai style with pineapples and it was super spicy but they did not signal it anywhere in the menu, I would highly suggest them to do so.

Were from CT. Took my wife here for our anniversary. Beautiful place. Service was excellent. Ask for Rick G. He made our night Beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves. Food was excellent. Some of the best sea food I have had in years. Thank you for making our anniversary one too remember. We will be back when in the Boston area. We Love Legal Sea Food ❤

We had to wait for a table, but it was worth visiting to say we have been there. The crab roll and calamari were great! The slaw was sweet and tangy. The server was very nice and helped resolve our disappointment in the the steamers. The clams didn't seem to be cleaned prior to cooking because they were quite sandy inside. It was not a pleasant experience to crunch through sand and dirt.

Legal Sea Food is a nicely located restaurant with authentic seafood. The service was excellent and our waitress was very knowledgeable about local seafood and gave us a good guide on what to order. My husband tried the lobster roll, because when in New England, one must have the lobster roll. He ordered it warm with butter and you could taste the freshness. I had the New England clam chowder. Fun fact: the is THE New England clam chowder they serve at the presidential inauguration! It was tasty!

My family and I have been long time fans of Legal and most special occasions in life were celebrated there. After a several-year hiatus, this past weekend we got takeout for the first time and it met every expectation. Food was packed with care and tasted as good as I remember it always being. Good to know that there are still some places in the city that have not compromised on quality in the post-Covid environment.

Legal is truly my measuring stick for a great seafood restaurant. The fish and chips was out of this world, with three fresh, hot pieces of perfectly cooked fish and a generous helping of crisp fries (and the coleslaw is spot on as well). I got the chowder as an appetizer and it was also great, thick, rich and very flavorful. My wife had a hot buttered lobster roll that was prepared perfectly. Literally everything we got was super fresh, expertly prepared and super tasty. In terms of the space itself, everything was carefully arranged for social distancing. Staff were all very helpful and on top of things. Really a perfect spot when you are craving great seafood!

Our party of three visited Legal Seafood for lunch. First, we ordered Legal's famous clam chowder. This is the best clam chowder I have ever eaten. Then we ordered spicy and crispy haddock which was also excellent. The service was very good--pleasant wait staff and very efficient. A great restaurant to visit after a duckboat tour or a visit to nearby New England Aquarium. Great location

This is the 20th restaurant I’ve dined at in 20 days and I’m extremely happy with everything. Outdoor seating is awesome, service is excellence, the old fashioned is next level. I ate a bowl of the clam chowder and had a lobster roll, amazing. I definitely left this establishment a happy clam.

Great place to get sea food when visiting Boston. It is located close to the New England Aquarium. The customer service from the waiters was excellent. The atmosphere was great and the food excellent. I would recommend this place to any one that is looking get some sea food. It is a bit pricey but worth it

Legal Seafood gets 4 stars because the overall experience was excellent. Food service and atmosphere were very well executed. My server was excellent. We had lobster roll, crab roll, fried clams, and clam chowder and water. Every bite was delicious but pricey. Our bill was $123. I had to subtract 1 star because we were told garage parking would be validated but that's NOT TOTALLY true. They ONLY cover $11 you have to pay the remaining $25 if you park for more than 90 minutes. So ask lots of questions about the parking.

WOW! It's been a while since I've dinned at Legal Sea Foods, and I'm ready for another great experience there. I was in Boston on business and tried this place out, and I can say that the food is simply AMAZING! Over the years I've eaten some pretty good seafood, or so I thought. Well, this place has really FRESH QUALITY seafood. If you like seafood, then this place is a must try.

This place is must-visit seafood fine dining experience but it is also great if you want to pop in for a nice cocktail and crab cake at the bar. They were out of oysters but that just goes to show how good they are Legal. The only reason we rated at 4 stars is because you can get good seafood for a lower if you look hard enough around Boston

Server was unbelievably helpful when I said I am allergic to soy. Even though it was super crowded, he went to the kitchen multiple times just to make sure he got the list of foods that do not have soy in it. I mean it’s a sea food place and there are not many options to eat rather than sushi if you are allergic to soy but he was super helpful. And their sushi and oysters are so delicious!!

Server Ezekiel attentive, food was okay l had the bowl of chowder, two rolls could've had 3 rolls, crab cake with salad and cesar salad didn't have Parmigiano cheese, taste like provolone or mozzarella. The restaurant was slow due to Covid 19. We also had tuna sashimi small serving awesome. Swordfish cooked to perfection - sides okay. Overall okay, dinner left full.

Had Pat's for the first time today. Unfortunately we ordered curbside to go due to the Covid. Fortunately they have their act together. The food was delivered to my vehicle in bags ready for the ride home. The server who brought my food was courteous and practiced proper ppe. Now on to the food. WOW! Had a 10 minute ride home, stuck at the Dave's lite for one cycle. Got home, spread it out on the counter and fed the little monster first. My son had the Mozzarella triangles, loved em. My wife and daughter split the eggplant parm, both loved it and wanted their own. I shared the calamari with the wife. It was light, crispy and delicious. They give you a little container with pepper rings, cherry tomatoes and sauce. This is the trick to keeping them crispy. Add it when you get home and enjoy. I had the Tuscan Trifolati. Perfect pasta, flavourful sauce and tender meat. Everything was hot and packaged great. Can't wait to go back again!

Horrible customer service and when we asked the hostess for a manager she got our waitress who told us the manager was busy. Called Johnston for a manager and was told the same thing. Best lobster roll I’ve ever had, hands down! The lobster was just plain good lobster but the bread and sauce they had in it was AMAZING! It was phenomenal. I started out with the clam chowder and it was equally fantastic! Wow just so good! I’ll be coming back here for sure. I want to try some of the other menus items for sure. One down side was I sat at the bar and the bartender was busy for sure, but she clearly had a thing for me and not in a good way. She was nice as pie to the ladies sitting next me but for me, one word answers if any at all and I always had to stop her. She never just stopped to ask if I needed anything. Jus a little disappointing but the food came exceptionally fast and correct so she did that part of her job well. Highly recommend this place.

The food was good. Definitely the best dish was the clam chowder which is best I've had in Boston. The shrimp dish my husband ordered was mostly sides and only 5 pieces of shrimp, so don't order that if you're hungry. The service was quick, friendly and professional. It's a nice family friendly environment.

  • 5/5 Dean C. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent lobster roll (and the crab roll was great too!l. The service was great, and the complimentary rolls were hot and delicious. Loves the Cole slaw as well as the fries. The buttered corn on the cob was sugary sweet and piping hot when it came. The Boston Creme Pie looked nothing like we expected but tasted amazing! We appreciated our server's suggestion to get the lobster roll for the most lobster meat per dollar. PEI mussels were great, and the chicken sandwich for the kids wasn't shabby. Perfect for aquarium visitors, within walking distance from both the aquarium and the parking lot next to the aquarium.

I got the lobster mac n cheese and while the lobster was amazing the mac n cheese part really fell short for me. It was dry! Then breadcrumbs on top of that. But I loved the presentation on the lobster shell, I thought that was very clever. My partner absolutely loved her Salmon! The staff, like many places these days, seemed stretched a bit thin but were doing their best and were very considerate! And the cocktails were great!

I guess I put too much expectation based on the reviews and the photos taken by the store. I have to say, the way that they cook was kind of waste of the seafood. I did not feel the flavor, the fresh from the seafood. The drinks were awful, all watery... I would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Maybe it's not that bad.. But I was disappointed.

How often do you get GF fried seafood at a restaurant? We had the fish and chips and fisherman's platter GF, and our 14y/o had the nut encrusted salmon. Absolutely delicious. A little pricey, but downtown Boston on the harbor and me wife was able to eat GF fish and chips not at home. Would go again.

A little disappointed with my food. I expected the tacos to be a little more juicy atleast. The guacamole was so less and it made the whole thing so dry. Prefered Cheesecake Factory tacos so much over these! The quantity of the other dishes was good enough that we couldn't finish it, but there wasn't much difference in the way the fish was cooked in all three dishes. The fish in the fish sandwich, tacos and fish and chips was the same, and it didn't taste that good either. The toilets smelled and needed to be cleaned. The changing table in the toilet was old and dirty and wouldn't stay up once i had put it down. Our server was nice and the ambiance was good too. Wished the food matched the rep and the toilets were cleaner.

Great food here. We didn't have a wait even though the restaurant was busy. I got the Sea Scallops with rice pilaf and buttered potatoes, my husband got the Baked haddock. Mine tasted delicious with the waitress's recommendation of lemon butter with the scallops, my husband said his was good but lacking flavor. appetizer. We had the Cod fritters as our appitizer which were also delicious.

This place is packed on Fridays and I would definitely recommend a reservation. We arrived a little bit before our reservations and somehow got lucky enough to grab a few drinks at the bar. Our table was ready and we were seated the restaurant seating is tight despite how big the restaurant is and it's incredibly loud as well but the food more than makes up for the atmosphere. The sole was amazing and so fresh. My friend had the scallops with a couscous salad that was also delicious. Our waitress was great she was fast and had great suggestions. Great experience.

For sure need a reservation unless you're coming at like 2pm on a weekday. Salmon was fantastic and the portions are generous. Great fries and I don't know what they did with it but the broccoli was SO good. My only criticism is that the two person tables are really tiny so it's easy to knock things over.

Went with my wife for dinner. I had oysters and clam chowder. She had breaded scallops. My oysters were very fresh. The clam chowder was plentiful, and the taste was well balanced. As for the scallops, which I also tried, they were huge and the best tasting ones we had in a long time. The personnel was helpful, answering well the questions we had about the food. The place is a bit expensive, but the price, I believe, is justified by the high quality of the food.

My experience at Legal Sea Food was a mix of highs and lows. The lobster bisque, undoubtedly, was a standout. It was rich, creamy, and had a delightful depth of flavor that left a lasting impression. Regrettably, my enthusiasm waned when it came to the crab roll and the tuna roll. The crab roll lacked the freshness I expected from a seafood restaurant, and the flavors were rather unremarkable. The tuna roll was also a letdown; the tuna didn't seem as fresh as it should have been, and the overall taste was underwhelming. The service was friendly and the ambiance pleasant, which certainly added to the overall experience. However, it was the inconsistency in the quality of the dishes that left me with a lukewarm feeling about my visit. For a restaurant with such a reputation, I had higher expectations for the culinary offerings. While I might return for the bisque, I'm hesitant about ordering sushi or rolls from their menu in the future.

We got the jumbo shrimp, and the stuffed lobster, along with Dessert. The food was pretty good - my shrimp were overcooked and that kind of sucked, but their clam chowder makes up for it. Dessert was yummy. I think that the biggest issue is that Legal Seafood used to be very classy, the atmosphere felt like an iHOP, it was noisy and full of kids... hard to hear a discussion across the table. Made it hard to enjoy anything else. But our server was really awesome and he did his best to make it a pleasant meal.

Let me just start off by saying: WOW. What an incredible eating experience. The staff met us with a great attitude and seated myself and my friend quickly. The great atmosphere greeted us and we enjoyed our time waiting for service. Our server was outstanding. She was constantly checking in on us, filling up water, and sharing in some enjoyable conversation. 10/10 service for sure and better than most places I've been. But we all know what you're here for, the absolutely incredible food they offer! We both had the 1/2lb lobster roll with the hot butter. From the first bite to the last, all we tasted was exquisite lobster good-ness the likes of which we have never experienced before. We can both say, with extreme certainly, that this was the best lobster roll we've ever had. And we aren't inexperienced in the world of lobster rolls either. If you only ever went to this restaurant for the lobster rolls you would never be disappointed. Overall, I would highly recommend Legal Sea Foods for any dining opportunity. While we've only had the lobster roll, everything we saw looked very good. I look forward to being able to go back!

Hands down one of the best dinners we had in Boston!!! The food amazing and the service spectacular. Our server Gorge was 1st class!!! He took his time with us mentioned the specials and offered great advice on choices which made our dining experience perfect... From the lobster bisque, fresh local oysters and lobster our taste buds could not have been more pleased... I truly can't say enough about this dinner and George.... That night we ate like Kings and George made us feel like Kings!!
