Definitely went here for the nostalgia factor. I grew up watching cheers and this place didn't disappoint. Great service, great food, even had a few beers. Don't forget to check out the gift shop. If you're smart you'll get a coupon from their website. Was able to grab some gear to bring it home. Glad I was able to stop in and say I've been there. The small atmosphere makes you feel comfortable and welcoming.

Had a really great time here. The nostalgia is very real and can be felt as soon as you walk in. The service was fantastic and the beer was nice. We enjoyed the food but the ambiance is what made it the most special. I've been using my souvenir mug ever since.

Had to pass by here and take it into nostalgia. Waitress and bartenders were very nice. It was something about walking down to the steps and into the bar that brought back memories of watching. Cheers as a child and as an adult on late night television. I know it was a typical tourist thing to do but it's another place and scratch off the list of places to go.

I grew up watching the tv comedy Cheers and love it to this day. And to be able to if not just visited but to sit and have a beer in such an iconic place was awesome for me. The atmosphere was just like the tv series and the food was absolutely great!! I will be back for sure. LOVE BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS ❤️

CHEERS! We were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar downstairs. The staff were very helpful, cheery and accommodating. We are amazing experience! It was really fun to drink a beer out of the cheers class. We had the hot wings and they were really tasty! It was really fun to walk around the bar and see all the memorabilia! I’m really glad we went on a Sunday during November because the crowd was really small and it was easy to get in.

Great pub! The draft beers are $10 and you have a good selection to choose from. Quite good menu as well. The pastrami sandwich was exceptional! The whole vibe of the store is amazing. I have only see that kinda of vibe only in movies. Loved their decorations. The stuff working there goes above and beyond! Definitely recommend this place.

We visited Boston July 16, 2021 had such a great experience at Cheers thanks to the manager PHIL!!! He was so kind and courteous in helping our grandma up on the wheelchair ramp and even showed us around the set area while we were upstairs. We cannot express enough how amazing he was! He was sure to have a table ready for us once we got down the elevator. When it was time to leave, he noticed us right away and helped us back upstairs and down the wheelchair ramp outside again. Seriously, the best customer service, ever!!!! THANKS PHIL!!!

Crazy busy and I felt so sorry for the host staff. People coming in simply for a photo/selfie opportunity and having no regard for actual customers. Chaotic is the only way to really describe the experience, certainly not a place to just hang out and enjoy yourself and it's really not the fault of the establishment, but rather the people just wandering in. The service was accommodating, considering, and the food was tasty. Don't forget to meander upstairs - worth the walk.

Really a neat bar and restaurant with a great staff! All the staff were laid back and personable. It was a revolving door of tourists the whole time we were there and the staff were patient and seemingly unphased by the people traffic. We were very lucky to get 2 seats at the bar so quickly. We thought we’d be waiting at least 25-35 minutes for a seat but a nice couple at the smaller bar were leaving as we came in. Our bartender was so kind, friendly and informative. She didn’t even get annoyed with me when I asked the tacky tourist question of where I could find the best Boston accent. She offered great nearby suggestions and we were overjoyed when she shared a bit of her Boston accent with us. We had great appetizers at a happy hour discount. It was pretty iconic to have a Sam Adams in a Cheers mug in Boston! We were a bit bummed we missed out on seeing the set bar as it was closed for a private event but the entire location offered up nostalgic photos and souvenirs. Cheers was the highlight of our Boston stop. Such a cool neighborhood too with gorgeous homes.

I grew up watching Cheers. I didn't know until this year it was inspired by an actual bar because I always heard it was filmed in front of a live studio audience...when I found out I had to go! It was an awesome experience. We walked to Cheers we didn't see any parking once we got there...we also heard you can walk to everything in Boston. We parked in a paid parking lot and walked everywhere...you may want to find a parking lot closer to Beacon street so you don't have such a far walk that we did. The staff is very friendly and inviting and if you have watched the show then you WILL LOVE the atmosphere. The food was really good and the prices aren't too high. The gift shop has almost any thing you can think of as a souvenir. I do regret not getting a shirt though...next time!

We went at the perfect time. Not crowded and got a place at the set bar right away. Trip to memory lane. Hubby sat at Norman’s chair so he was delighted. Tried the blueberry beer which is now my new favorite. Full bar, price was just a bit more than average but well worth it, service was nice.

Horrible customer service; the waitress picked up a battle with the guests in my table over the number of credit cards allowed to split the bill, AFTER we had spent over $400 for a party of 8. Business owners must understand that customers have dining choices, and they must train their employees not to fight with them. Especially not at $50+ per person. Good food, not great. Beautiful gift shop inside.

Use to watch Cheers as a young girl, so really wanted to visit this bar whilst we were here. Really friendly bar staff and this place had a nice atmosphere. The first room was a little small but there is another area with plenty more seating available. People were friendly willing to exchange small talk which i found nice. Lots of photo memorabilia dotted around, and the gift shop had loads of items to purchase. Worth a visit if you are in Boston.

I have eaten here several times and love it! The food is good and reasonably priced, the upstairs is designed to replicate the television show and it's just a fun experience for any Cheers fan! I highly recommend for locals and tourists alike. Directly across from the Public Garden and very close to the Boston Common. It's situated right at the border of Beacon Hill and close to Downtown and Back Bay.. Basically it's in a great location!

Great little spot to visit. It is small, so easy to get crowded. The food was good and the atmosphere was fun. It has obviously become a destination for Cheers fans, though I did see locals there as well. The gift shop has a lot of great items for fans of both Cheers and Boston itself. Be sure to walk through the park before or after your visit to make it extra worthwhile. You can take home your glass for a small extra charge or buy a clean one in the gift shop. I found the price to be very reasonable for that, though the food prices were high. $20 for an average burger seemed a little much, but if you acknowledge that you're paying as much for the experience as the food, it is worth it.

Iconic! We were lucky and got a table with only out a ten minute wait. This place is so my fun with show memorabilia everywhere. The food was excellent! We shared a clam chowder. Yum. I had the fish and chips which was excellent. My companion had the Reuben delicious! We drank a variety of drinks… to include Sam Adams… must do in Boston! And the cocktail Screaming Viking, which was like a day at the beach! I loved the show and I loved having the experience of eating here. It was definitely an added bonus that the food was actually awesome.

I had a great experience. approximately 30 minutes to eat at the downstairs restaurant but could try your luck at the upstairs "Cheers, set bar". This particular day, there was not much of a wait. We chose to wait for the downstairs and was given a buzzer that would alert us when it was ready for us to be seated. We used this time to browse the Cheers gift shop. There are some great photos of the cast, awesome t-shirts and other items. The food was good, and I was happy I was able to get a vegetarian burger. The highlight was when leaving my partner said loudly" excuse me " everyone stopped to listen in the crowded room " may I have your attention please, today is my 60th birthday and I am from Nova Scotia and it would be a bucket list dream if on the count of 3 everyone could yell my name Joanne". "1-2-3 !" Everyone raised a glass and shouted "Joanne!! " True, "everyone knows your name. " Thank you to everyone that day, that made it an amazing experience. We would go back again.

NORM!!!! Staff was super cool especially the greeter filipino guy by the door and the young girl at the gift shop. Famous bar which inspired the "Cheers" sitcom. If you plan to eat and drink here, you might have to wait awhile due to the covid 19 restrictions. Otherwise a great place to visit when in Boston.

The staff here is amazing, as is the atmosphere. The safety practices in place due to COVID are on-point. The food was delicious, and you can even buy a souvenir glass at a discount if you purchase a beer (please note, I cannot be certain if this was a limited time offer, or if this is a constant offer). I highly recommend eating here. They have plenty of space for couples, solo dining, or larger groups.

Just like the show, this restaurant is very cool. It’s small and crowded but the food is amazing and the place has this interesting vibe of the old days. I definitely recommend to come here. Amazing food, drinks and service. They got a neat little gift/ souvenir shop inside.

Cheers Boston did not disappoint me at all. I had Sam's Starters Pub Skins and Downeast Cider made in Boston. It was an amazing tourist spot in town. It is a must see! Jess C. and Tara were the bomb hosts. They were able to direct me to other places to see! Thank you Boston! I love the locals they are friendly and inviting it was a pleasure to meet the Cheers Staff! You heard it here first! MaLa Travel Guide tested and approved by MaLa a locals point of view. You heard it here first! When MaLaSpeaks everyone listens!

Why not go and stop by a place where everybody knows your name. It's seriously like stepping in to an iconic television show. I kept looking for Norm. It's a fully functioning bar, so obviously you can drink and get food. The service is great and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The prices are actually good too, not what I expected for a tourist spot. It actually felt very local at the time we went. Even if you never heard of the TV show Cheers, this place is worth the stop.

The price of food is terrible !!! When you go to this place you better take a second mortgage out 23.99 for a hamburger is just ridiculous!!! I understand the cost of everything is up but to make a quarter pound burger and a piece of bread and some condiments is ridiculous for $23.99

Came to have beer & ordered a bowl of chili also. Had the blueberry beer on tap & it was good. Chili was also very good & a little spicy since had jalapeño in it . The chips could have better, 1/2 of them were broken & small pieces. Sat a stool opposite the bar since there was a wait for a table. Staff was great. They also have a dining room in the back upstairs. Upstairs has a gift you can buy merchandise in.

I proposed to my girlfriend last night here at cheers on August 8 2021 . This place was absolutely amazing, The staff was so friendly and helpful The food and atmosphere was very energetic. They had a cute little gift shop , and me being a big fan of the show cheers , I bought multiple bobble heads, Sam, norm, carla, and cliff, and a cheers mug . The staff at cheers gave us a round of champagne to congratulate us on our engagement. We will definitely be coming back yearly on August 8th.

Great little place in downtown Boston where to get a bite of food as well as TV history. "Cheers" is lovely, full of memorabilia from the sitcom of course, scattered around the bar in the first floor, as well as on the second floor where the "set bar" is located. They have a small gift shop on the main floor and a bigger one upstairs. Food is typical bar fare with catchy names related to the show. A little overpriced as expected, but good. Worth visiting even if you are not a "Cheers" fan. 😍👍💰💰👌💕

When in Boston, you have to at least stop at cheers. Obviously we went because hey, its cheers but when we got there we had a ton of fun. First theres a cool gift shop in the back and even though it was being closed up, they let me buy some souvenirs for home. Our bartender on a Monday night was absolutely fantastic.. we chatted, he made great drinks and ended up meeting other cool people at the bar. Here’s what I didn’t know, the food is absolutely fantastic! The wings omg the wings were awesome. You need to check this place out because its a legit great place to go, not only because of the tv show.

Cheers 🍻 where everyone knows your name..it’s where a group of locals meet to drink, relax, and socialize. This a fun and unique stop when in Boston. We walked around and check out the place, no tours were available when we went and it was free!!

You gotta go “where everybody knows your name!” Very cool place to bring back memories of a great show. The downstairs bar is different from the show, but the bar upstairs is a replica of the bar in the show. They even have name tags of where the characters used to sit. It’s a great place to visit and it’s right across the beautiful Public Gardens. Definitely drop by!

Inside, it doesn't look like the TV show; it is also much smaller. Everything is top notch and gives you a a nostalgic feeling. The food, drinks and service were outstanding! They also had great t-shirts, mugs and other souvenirs as well. Even if you weren't a fan of the show, you should still check it out. If you were a fan of the show, then you will be even more at home. I can't wait to return again!

At first, I was reluctant to go. My wife made me. They are just capitalizing on the name. When I walked inside, my attitude changed. It brought me back to the series. My younger life. Staff was awesome, and the did was the best. My wife had the meatball sandwich, and I had the grilled salmon. Oh, so good it was cooked too perfection. Too many places over cook their fish. This was done perfectly! It melted in your mouth. The only mistake they made was put us by the door. Everyone that came in, I would raise my cheers, beer mug, and yell, Norm! When we left, everyone knew my name! I'm so glad I went!

If you are strolling down Beacon Hill, Cheers is a must!!! I grew up watching the show with my grandpa and then rewatched as an adult! Was very busy but I was able to snag a spot with no wait in the back bar. Clam chowder was good and great beer selection. You even get a souvenir glass :)

Been here a few times, prefer the downstairs bar, weekends this place is jam packed, expect over an hour for a table to eat upstairs in the replica bar. The downstairs bar does not look like the show FYI. Gift shop is expensive. Food and drinks were great! Bar tending staff was great, server was very slow and not very attentive, everyone else was a blast and tons of fun. Very tiny bathroom. But clean. Highly recommend, and will probably return.

A Boston legend that has to be on your list ✔️ It may be a complete tourist trap but for all of us who remember Cheers it's the holy grail. We went in off peak season (October) but still had to wait in line for our photo of the bar outside. Walking down those famous steps into the bar was magic. We kept things simple and ordered local beers and Chowders, both were great. The place is definitely full of tourist just like us but it was a complete pleasure to actually have been here. Long live Norm 🍺

It's Cheers, so yeah, it's pretty darn cool, and a fun little experience while visiting Boston. Our server was so nice and helpful and accommodating, she did such an awesome job. It got pretty busy here around lunch time. The fish and chips is very good, and the clam chowder is some of the best you'll find around here. Gift shop has all the souvenirs you could ever want.

As a big TV fan and visiting places of that cultural significance, I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed my experience of visiting Cheers, something which I made sure was a priority when visiting Boston. The drinks and food were all reasonably priced (for Boston standards) and enjoyable and there was a nice atmosphere when visiting the location of the iconic tv show. I also happened to end up with a souvenir Cheers beer glass, which an acquaintance at the bar area kindly bought for me upon hearing I was visiting from Scotland. It was also great seeing all the symbols and merchandise from the historic tv show.

We visited both the Cheers restaurant downstairs and the bar for some quick photos. If there had been any other lunch options close by, we would have skipped eating here but this was convenient. The food is okay and a little overpriced for what you're getting. The restaurant has some general Boston area memorabilia and is doesn't seat many people, but as I said, if you don't get to eat here you aren't missing a delicious meal so no worries! Take some pictures and maybe grab a beer at the bar upstairs, there is no cost to go inside.

Its a pub. Pub food is served. I had a reuben and it was fine. My husband had fish and chips, he said they were sub-par. The waiter was friendly and courteous. It was exciting to be in the real cheers bar though! Though it doesn't look like the set for the tv show, you can see where they got the ideas for certain elements and decorations. Nobody knew my name, but I'm sure the troubles were all the same!

I'm sure this place was popping before COVID. Still a cool place to visit just because of the history and the TV show.

This was a must see for my mom when we visited Boston she loved the show cheers ! For me someone who has never seen the show I expected a little more. This being said they sat us at the top where the show was filmed and it is very cool to see the food was okay but it’s more about the experience for people who liked the show. If u haven’t seen the show just skip the stop

This a favorite if mine anytime I visit Boston. Good food and very pleasant and helpful staff. They are also taking great precautions to clean during the pandemic plus the place is not busy so great time to visit.

Be careful about wording on the menu. The commemorative glasses are not included in pricing on the menu, even though they seem like they are.

Nice spot! The beer and chowdah rocked! Not very crowded today on a cold Thursday lunchtime during COVID. Responsible spacing and 3/4 full. Fun!

Super nostalgic and touristy! Across from a lovely park too. Two gift shops, great beer and they have food!!! Onion rings were delicious! There are two floors, the basement has a the feel of the show. The main floor is more open and has a larger gift shop with access to the street. Best clam chowder I’ve had!

Super fun atmosphere, great food and drinks, AMAZING service! If I lived closer, I'd be back more, where everyone knew my name! 😊 Iconic!❤

So this place was smaller than I expected, but very clean. It was not was deep as shown on the show. But it had a front and back bar, divided by the kitchen & gift shop. I had one drink (the Screaming Viking) and an appetizer (pub skins). The drink was very good & strong. The pub skins were a little over done, but still good. The staff was friendly. Service for the drinks was fast, but the food took a while. I was there around noon, so it wasn't a busy time of day for a bar. The bathrooms are tiny, but also clean. Overall, I was happy with this place.

Why not stop by somewhere everybody knows your name? Nowhere near as large as the bar on TV (obviously), but still worth a stop. Tons of memorabilia, a nice selection of beers, and friendly staff. If you are a fan of the show, worth a trip downstairs. Maybe you'll get lucky and Cliff will lay some trivia on you ;-)

I’m really glad we didn’t listen to negative reviews and went. The staff was very friendly. We had already ate so we got Boston Creme Cake which was amazing. Our server was very nice & attentive. Would definitely recommend going.

This place was busy just after open on a Tuesday. I stopped by as a fan of the show and did the tourist thing for a lunch break after setting up for a conference. It was a delightful little place. If you want to eat in peace this is not a place to be. Lots of tourists come in for the gift shop and pictures. The beer was good. The pasta was just ok. Nothing special. I did like the vibe and the Hostess Mia was great.

We enjoyed our food and the experience. Staff was great, we had come straight from the train after arriving in Boston, she helped us find a place for our bags so we could be seated. We really appreciated the help. Friendly service, would pop by to visit again next time we're in town.

No one knew our names but it didn't matter 😄 Very intimate and cozy settings. Very good service that kept pace with frantic throng. The Down east cider was delicious and, colorful!

Sat at the bar area as it was busy. Had the Boston Breeze and a mug of chowder. Fun atmosphere. Tv replica bar is upstairs. Gift shop has a variety of items.

  • 5/5 Candace W. 2 years ago on Google
The best chowder I have ever had! But be prepared to spend close to $20 for a bowl- thankfully it is large enough to share. The space is nostalgic and customer service remarkable. There is a gift store upstairs...be sure to grab a mug and hoodie! We did!😜

Fun place! The nostalgia! Go upstairs to take pics of the TV show staged bar. The downstairs bar is the original Bull & Finch bar that inspired the TV show. Don’t expect it to look like the TV show downstairs. Bigger gift shop upstairs and cute setup for photos! We shared nachos and added chili. Very tasty! Had drinks - fun spot for pics!

A must-see and do in Boston. Especially if you grew up watching the show. I enjoyed a cold Boston lager with wings. The burgers were really good too. The park across the street was fun as well.

We were soooo excited to go to the iconic Cheers!! The place was decorated and organized perfectly!! All the nostalgic feels!! The food was just ok... very very overpriced, but it's an iconic tourist spot so I didn't expect anything different lol. We got burgers and sandwiches. The back area smelled bad... like old mildew or something sour. But it's an old building...it's a bar..... I got some Cheers pj pants that I'm super excited about! We won't go back, but it was definitely worth the stop.

Awesome clam chowder bread bowl definitely enough for a full meal! Everyone else loved their food also. Make sure you browse around and grab a Cheers flyer for a 20% off total bill discount. We had an issue with buying merchandise and finding the coupon after the fact. We ended up returning everything and buying the same things downstairs with the coupon. Great photo ops.

Fun spot to visit and have a beer. We sat at the bar and got 2 seats right away, and did not have to wait long for 2 more. Pretty pricey place. We had beers and the appetizer platter. Everything tasted good.

A classic piece of Americana. We came here solely because of the nostalgia factor. It definitely means more if you’ve seen some episodes of Cheers, but it’s still enjoyable if you haven’t. I recommend getting food so you can guarantee a seat. If not, the bar is first come first serve, and I imagine it’s quite difficult for a group to be seated together. The drinks were great. My Bloody Mary was wonderful. The food was your average bar food. Pretty reasonably priced. Well worth checking it out.

A fun experience visiting the very place that inspired the iconic 80s TV show. It was a great atmosphere, giving the flavours and feels of a good ol' London pub, just with an American flare. The staff were friendly, and from start to finish this gave the experience there a welcome vibe, from the door to the drinks order to the arrival of the food! Given the tourist attraction of the place, expect to possibly wait to be seated, particularly at peak times, and be aware that food and drinks will be that little bit more expensive than other places.
