I came here after reading all the nice reviews and made a reservation for myself. The food was very good, in particular the roasted mushrooms, which were delicious and hands down my favorite dish. The mixture of the sauces with the smooth goat cheese was amazing. The gnocchis were good but nothing to rave about when compared to the mushroom appetizer. My biggest issue with this experience was the service. I felt rushed to order and finish my meal by both the hostess and the waitress, and the restaurant was not even full (they could have been way friendlier).

To put is simply, this restaurant is utterly phenomenal. This is the best service I’ve probably ever received at a restaurant. The waiter, Anthony, was extremely accommodating and present to ensure a spectacular dining experience. But the food….WOW! It was abundantly clear that there was so much care put into crafting our dishes. I got the Bolognese and it was incredible! Homemade pasta, and delicious Short rip gravy. I also recommend the crazy Alfredo (personal favorite). Please go to this restaurant if you want one of the best dining experiences in the north end (just make sure you book way in advance because they are quite popular)!

Absolutely amazing, we went here 7/29/22!! 5 STARS IN EVERYTHING - customer service, food, drinks. Our server was kind and very helpful. All the food was DELICIOUS, seasoned, great portions, and fresh. The food comes out pretty fast too. MUST HAVES cause they are so DELICIOUS - The crazy alfredo, spicy shrimp, garlic shrimp and gnocchi Need to knows - Make reservations before or you will wait 30 plus minutes. The place is very tight and small.

It was probably one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to in the United States! Their calamari and Crazy Alfredo were phenomenal. It is a very busy restaurant, so be sure to make a reservation beforehand! Highly recommend!

We didn’t reserve a table and we put down our names on the waiting list. They told us 40 minutes. We ended up waiting an hour and 40 minutes with several customers being seated before us, even though they arrived after. We got assigned a table close to the toilets in a very ugly spot. The meatballs were pretty okay, I don’t know why they were baked instead of panfried and my grandmother would’ve said that the meat bread ratio was skewed towards the latter, but overall they were fairly good. I am not going to comment on the crazy Alfredo, which should not be present in the menu of any respectable Italian restaurant, but the pasta, even though it had a lot of potential since handmade, was severely over cooked. Last but not least: angel hair pasta should never be served unless with broth or in a hospital, not with seafood and definitely not over cooked like at this restaurant. Service disappointing and prices….. I literally couldn’t finish my pasta by how bad it was and my partner same with the chicken Alfredo. Six hours after I still haven’t digested the amount of garlic that they put in the seafood pasta, and got immediately suspicious about the urge to run to the toilet. I got tricked by the tons of good reviews but I should’ve known better.. Italians stay away!

Carmelina's was a perfect place to grab lunch after spending my morning walking The North End. I did not have a rsvp but a spot for one was available, and I was seated. The host was also a waiter and he was amazing, everyone at Carmelina's is so nice. I was seated at the bar that overlooks the Chefs while they make those delicious meals. They move quietly, quickly and just like two well oiled machines, dishes come out fast. I ordered the garlic shrimp and it was a burst of flavor. The shrimp were fresh and tender but not overcooked, the pasta perfection in every bite. The buttery, white wine sauce was seasoned just right. I also grabbed a salad that could have been shared by 2-3 people. It was fresh and crunchy. The service was top and prompt. I went two days in a row, it was that good, made a reservation for the second day though. The space is small so be mindful of people. It's definitely on my list to return to on my next Boston Vacation. Pictures are from both days.

This was recommended to us by a friend and Harvard grad. Food was absolutley fantastic! We had the garlic shrimp app, followed by the gnocchi and Sunday macaroni. Some of the best sausage I've had! Paired with a great wine, so good! And the service was spot on. Great suggestions, would absolutely return.

This place was the best place I’ve ever been to. When I say the restaurant has the best customer service for an upscale place, they win hands down. I came all the way from Philly to see a friend in a Boston. I couldn’t get a reservation for the life of me that weekend. We asked the host at the door if we can get a table for 2 and instead of turning us away, he said he’s got a table but we gotta be out in 45 minutes and he let us sit and enjoy our meal! THE MEAL WAS AMAZING. the vibes of the restaurant was cozy and nice. I would come back here over and over again.

Got a wonderful meal of fresh made pasta on their sidewalk patio. The Sunday Macaroni entree is A LOT OF FOOD and a lot of meat. If you are getting this for one person you better be very hungry. But, oh that fresh pasta was so good. The staff was very attentive and we got our table relatively quickly for a busy night.

Small eatery with impressive menu. We had the usual fried calamari and was pleasantly surprised by its quality: light and delicate. We had two different pasta, both excellent. But the memorable one was the short ribs over yellow risotto. The flavor was so well balanced yet rich and intense. It’s definitely worth a visit.

We were here in 2017 and we’ve kept this place on a pedestal for 4 years. Im thrilled to say after finally getting a chance to come back it has surpassed our memories! Highly recommend sitting at one of the four seats by the bar so you can watch the process, and don’t forget to tip the cooks for the show!!

The shrimp was okay. The pastas were AMAZING!!! No wonder why it was impossible for me to make a reservation for dinner. Portion size is pretty large so make sure you're hungry befor visiting this place. The wine selection was also great - matched very well with the pasta.

Wow this place was worth the hype! We made a reservation for the only one that was available for months. So we were there Monday at 2 pm. This place was crowded for a mid day Monday! And the food was phenomenal. We went with getting a single dish per person, but really these portions were big enough to share. Out of all of the dishes, I enjoyed the Frutti Di Mare and the gnocchi the absolute most. The Frutti Di Mare has an amazing flavor and the amount of seafood was phenomenal. The gnocchi had an amazing texture: perfectly chewy. I would really recommend both of those over all the other ones. The other ones were also really good. The Sunday macaroni was a little heavy on the meat, but still really good. The pricing of the pasta was extremely reasonable, and the portion sizes were HUGE! I would recommend maybe only getting 2 for every 3 people if everyone in the group aren’t very hungry. Also these dishes were extremely shareable. Would strongly recommend this place to everyone! Worth struggling to get the reservation for.

We walked up and were put on the wait list. We were told it would probably be an hour wait. Thankfully it only turned out to be a 30-40min wait! We got to sit at the bar area where we could watch the chefs make all the food! It was very cool! The food was delicious! I had the crazy Alfredo and it was absolutely AMAZING! I would definitely dine here again if I’m ever in Boston in again!

We were seated quickly and the food was delicious! I had asked about vegan options, and our server was amazing. They were able to make a vegan spicy puttanesca without anchovies, and it was the best. Has a kick, but the flavors are great. Highly recommend!

The excitement was real when we scored a reservation to this acclaimed restaurant. For appetizers, we went with the ‘Garlic Shrimp In a Pan’. The shrimp came with a gorgeous buttery garlic sauce with a hint of lemon. For mains, we went with the crowd- favorite recommendation - ‘Crazy Alfredo’. It did not disappoint, quite true to its name, the unexpected spice added the craziness to the otherwise mellow Alfredo sauce. It comes with chicken, sausage and sun-dried tomatoes. Second main was the ‘Penne Gorgonzola’. Totally worth ordering, it’s the perfect pasta combination - tomato sauce with the punch of Gorgonzola cheese and spinach. PS. Portion sizes are fairly large so order accordingly! Safe to say, we left with satiated bellies and hearts and will be coming back soon!

My boyfriend and I were craving Italian food after a hike in the afternoon. We decided to come to Carmelina’s and it was a great choice! We got two red sauce plates that were completely different in flavor (Bronx’s Tale and the tortellini). I couldn’t decide which one I liked more. Keep in mind the place is very busy in the evenings and a reservations is a must. It’s a small restaurant with an open kitchen.

Love, love, love Carmelina's! It is a very small restaurant, so highly recommend making a reservation. Someone canceled, so luckily, I got a reservation. The service was great. The servers were not on top of you and checked on me occasionally. I didn't feel rushed. The food was delicious. The beet salad was tasty, and the bolognese was heavenly. The portions are large. You won't go wrong eating at Carmelina's.

Absolutely the BEST Italian restaurant I've been to in years! I'm from California and visit my son in Boston about once a year. Last year during my visit, his girlfriend recommend Carmelina's. I didn't know of any restaurants in Boston so I was down. The place is small and the kitchen flows into the seating area. This enhanced the experience. Having the ability to watch the chef's prepare your dish right in front of you, while they also prepare other meals is extraordinary . The meal that was prepared for me, my son, his girlfriend and his roommate was unbelievably delicious. The wine was exquisite. Fast forward three months and I brought my wife to the same restaurant in July! It was equally a hit! Every visit to Boston will include a stop here!

Cozy place to grab some Italian eats. Warm lighting. The Crazy Alfredo was the best dish I had today. It was spicy. The Chicken Milanese was also tender and good as well. And mussels are mussels. The table bread was freshly made. Nice and warm accompanied with oil and sauce. Delectable. Everything went perfectly with the $35 bottle of Chardonnay.

Carmelina’s lived up to it’s hype! Lunch time is the only chance of you getting a table without reservations. Was in Boston for Labor Day weekend and we decided to take the risk. Luckily we were able to snag a table with a 30min wait. Host was great, service was quick, friendly, and food was fresh. They gave great recommendations and we had enough to take home. It is a small location but if the weather is nice the front windows slide open and it’s a treat. Will be back again!

Best meal I had when visiting Boston. 12 out of 10! Fresh homemade pastas served up in a skillet, giving you that real family meal vibe. Every single person on the staff was so friendly and accommodating. EAT HERE ASAP.

Carmelina's was one of my best food experiences in Boston. hometown "Little Italy" at its best! The pasta dishes were the best that we had in Boston. The pictures don't do the flavor justice! FYI, the mussels were a much larger portion about 20-minutes prior to the photo being taken!

We were fortunate that we were able to get seating last minute. I would highly recommend trying to get reservations as early as you can...as many locals and tourists alike are always booking up the reservations fast. If not...you may be waiting like 45min to like 1.5hr+ Service was very welcoming and felt like you were visiting friends you haven't seen in a long time. Food however is flavorful and simple. Pricing and portions are great too. Highly recommend the pesto fusilli, and meatballs. I wish I had stomach space for the mushrooms, as well as the carbonara.

I’ve been trying to go here for dinner for a while but there’s always either a long wait or no reservations available for good reason! I got the crazy Alfredo and it was so good! I also tried the meatballs and they were also delicious! I came for a late lunch right before dinner so they were kind of in between shifts so we had to wait a bit to get drinks and for someone to take our order but when they did they were very friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend this place for good Italian food in the north end!

OMG ANAZING!! The spaghetti w/clams was the best thing I've eaten in a long time. The Sunday macaroni was delicious.

  • 5/5 Zaya A. 1 year ago on Google
Incredible. We walked in and waited half an hour to get a great seat at the bar. We watched them make amazing food. Everything we ate was just perfect! Totally worth all the hype and the wait. So many places nearby to get a drink before dinner but I seriously recommend, don’t eat anything. Portions are plentiful and you’ll want to order multiple items. We got the bolognese with ricotta, the braised beef with risotto, and the caprese pesto salad. I’d recommend ALL of them.

My personal best was Spicy Shrimp. Gnocchi and Crazy Alfredo tasted good as well. Don’t go there for the hype but rather for the authentic, fresh sauces served. P.s.: Go anticipating the restaurant to be crowded if you’re going there on a weekend. I couldn’t hear my date who sat right opposite on my table coz of the noise.

Not a bad Restaurant overall the experience was great the service was good and worth the wait I appreciate that they not only except cash but also card payments

This place is busy and tiny. We made reservations for 3:15 and still had to wait 30 minutes. It was funny because the moment we sat down, it died down a bit, then about half an hour it was packed again. Really good carbonara. The mushroom rigatoni was the big surprise. It was sooooo good. The seafood pasta was good and fresh but kinda bland after you eat the rigatoni.

I was out on a mission to find an amazing spot that had shrimp pasta. Man, did it hit the spot and fulfill my craving. Loved the whole experience at Carmelina's. The staff was kind and attentive, prices were decent. The food was absolutely delicious. This is my new favorite spot in the North End. I had their Spicy Shrimp Pasta... so GOOD! It's normally an appetizer, but I asked if they could make it an entree and they did. I also love that they don't have desserts and invite you to have coffee and dessert at the other amazing places in the North End. Highly recommend Carmelina's if you're in the area!

  • 5/5 Wendy G. 2 years ago on Google
Very excellent Italian food. Wine bottles are affordably priced - less than equivalent of 3 glasses. We carried out what we didn't drink. Portions are generous. We shared roasted mushroom appetizer and then neither of us could finish our main dishes, the pan sauteed chicken (with 3 pieces!) and the gnocchi. I love that they don't offer dessert and encourage you to try a local bakery. You need to make reservations weeks in advance but we snagged a last minute cancellation.

  • 5/5 Balakrishnan V. 2 years ago on Google
Great food, ordered two of their pastas and both dishes tasted really good. Make sure to try their crazy Alfredo. It is a very small space and getting reservations is hard, so plan in advance.

You will have a great day if you eat here! Everything is delicious, highly recommended. Note that food is served in large portions so sharing might be a good option.

Prior to this review, I’ve only given two 5-star restaurant reviews. And this restaurant just changed that. I love this restaurant! Everything I had was perfectly prepared and seasoned. One of the best Italian restaurant in my book. It will be a must stop for me whenever I’m in Boston again.

  • 5/5 Gisele W. 2 years ago on Google
Reservation recommended, was a very lucky last minute walkin, then the place became all packed, tasty Italian food in the neighborhood.
