Best clam chowder I have ever had, with tons of actual clam, great flavor and rich texture, and that too for just $7.50. Great seafood selection but also few chicken based items, great water views, bar, and ample indoor and outdoor seating. The lobster roll was delicious and they let lobster stand out and do most of the talking. Brioche bun and coleslaw were good too. Fries could have been a bit better.

Clam chowder was phenomenal. Originally went to the seafood restaurant across the street to eat, had fried calamari for appetizer and it was terrible so I left and walked over to Boston Sail Loft. Best decision I made. Started off with a shared clam chowder which alone made the trip worthwhile. I had the Fish & Chips that was recommended by the waitress and it was delicious as well. Wife had the lobster roll which was also amazing.

The best clam chowder and lobster roll I have ever had!!! Chowder was very thick and creamy with lots of clams and potatoes, dill leaves made all the difference, loved it a lot. We ordered our lobster roll warm with butter and it was delicious. Place is very cute and right on the harbor. You can ask for a table near the windows and enjoy your food with a nice view. 10/10 for customer service as well. Highly recommended.

Visited for brunch, and despite being in a touristy location, we were seated with almost no wait time. They had nice seats with decent views of the harbor, and the front of the restaurant had a sports bar vibe. Our server was very quick and friendly, and we got the fried whole belly clams, lobster Mac & cheese, and the sail loft cup clam chowder. For being one of the iconic places for chowders in Boston, everything was priced relatively cheap, but they also tasted great. Clam chowder had a generous amount of clams and it was one of the best chowders I had so far in Boston. Although it was slightly salty, I loved how it still managed to capture all the flavors with just clams and potatoes.

Colman has been our best waiter from our mini vacation in Boston. He was extremely kind, attentive, informative and overall great. You’re the best. The food was excellent. We ordered various items. Shrimp cocktail, bowl of Clam chowder, Calamari, pasta and fried shrimp plate. All were superb! We had a great experience and wonderful service. Colman S, thank you for impeccable service!

This place is known by the locals and I’m glad I was able to enjoy it!!! It was perfect! So cozy I sat next to the heater by the window it was perfect! I got the chicken salad sandwich with the cup of chowder and to be honest it was a little dry but I didn’t care cause the chowder was so good! I also got the calamari and it was SO good!!

I had a cup of the Clam Chowder and Buffalo Chicken Tenders. The clam chowder presentation was interesting as shown in pictures and had some clams but more potatoes than anything else of course. The chicken tenders were spicy and was cooked just right and juicy inside. Overall its pretty good place and is really popular for families.

The restaurant was pretty good. The service is friendly and relatively quick, and the food is well portioned and tasty. My only grievance is that the lobster rolls is mainly claw and knuckle meat (and lack of tail meat, like other spots), and the clam chowder (albeit tasty) is a bit lackluster in the clams. I would also recommend the calamari (which was fried well) and cajin shrimp. Just note if fewer than 4....the platter is quite a lot.

Great food, and great view, and best of all no wait time. We tried the clam chowder, fried clams and lobster roll. The clam chowder is one of the best clam chowder I ever had. They give us a generous portion of clam chowder for around $8. The chowder was thick and creamy and full of clams. The dills also add a nice touch to the dish, it compliments the chowder without overpowering it. The fried clams were really good, the clams were tasty and juicy. However do be careful with the clams, we did get some clams that taste kinda odd, and 2 members from our group get stomach ache after, that might or might not be from eating these clams. The lobster roll is pretty good with a generous portion of fresh lobster meat. We paid around $70 for the three dishes. Overall it's worth it to come here for their clam chowder and the great view

Such a cute place! The restaurant is themed around feeling like you're on a boat, and the cup of soup was literally served in a cup! My boyfriend and I agreed the clam chowder was a bit heavy on the dill but was very tasty regardless; this was my first time to New England and having chowder there, authentic New England clam chowder, so maybe that's just how it's done authentically? I had my first lobster roll and the seafood tasted extremely fresh and was a generous portion. My boyfriend has the lobster and scallop stir fry and that was also quite good. I would definitely recommend this place for seafood lovers

The Boston Sail Loft is just a great classic seafood restaurant on the water in Boston. It is not a fancy place, but the food is great with large portions and it is a great place to be for dinner. They do not take reservations but there is a waiting list the host will put your name down and then call you. There is a bar inside that is first come, first serve too. My wife and I came here Friday night for dinner and waited about 40 minutes to get a table which wasn't a bad wait. We hung out by the water in the meantime and it was very pleasant. I ordered the fish and chips, my wife ordered a lobster roll and bowl of clam chowder. The fish and chips were very good - they gave a lot of fish and fries also. The lobster roll on the menu says it is with mayo but they were able to make it hot with butter. The lobster roll was $36 but it was massive, it really was a great deal for a lobster roll these days in 2023, and it came with lots of fries. My wife said her clam chowder was very good too. We really liked this place and we definitely want to come back again. It's refreshing to come to a classic seafood restaurant that isn't trying to be upscale, and also isn't overpriced. We were very happy with our experience and will be back again soon.

Excellent food, great service, great view. What's not to like? We got the lobster roll which was sizeable, fresh and tasty. We also got the fried shrimp plate which was perfect. Great breading, perfectly cooked. The Rum Punch and the Strawberry Vodka Lemonade were great added touches. The clam chowder was good. Not the best, but good. Will definitely be back.

Rustic seafood restaurant on the water with nice views. Had to try the clam chowder based on reviews and it was good but not the best I ever ate. Fried shrimp, a classic, was crispy and cooked well. Scrod was tender and very flavorful, would recommend if you are looking for a straight forward well cooked piece of fish.

Just order the Best clam chowder! Phenomenal- you will not be disappointed. Lots of dill, creamy and with good amount of clam. Excellent lobster roll on a toasted brioche bun. Even the fries are seasoned perfectly. Friendly wait staff.

How would you evaluate a good restaurant? Product, service, and price? What if this place has all of the above. We ordered twin lobster and clam chowder, it’s delicious and would definitely go back again!!

I visited here last week with my friends. I love that you do not need a reservation and even we were 3 people in total, they found a place for us as soon as we came. I love the ambiance of the restaurant/bar. I tried their far-famed clam chowder served in a cup. Since I am a sea-food person I loved it, but I have tried better ones. The thing I am looking in this chowder is richness of flavors, and it is over-repressed by the dill taste. So, if you are not fun of dill think twice while ordering the chowder. I also got lobster roll. I love the roll itself but the fries come with it are not crunchy and they were like fried several times. Also, the check in total was a bit pricy, but you are next to the ocean!

Best chowder in town but you do have to like dill. Very nice ambience and it's right on the water so you get great views. Historic little place that has been around for a long time and I'm so glad it survived Covid. Been coming for years and always get excellent food and service. Best seafood around at reasonable prices -- and I strongly suggest you get some form of fish. It's a short walk from Faneuil Hall so if you're a tourist looking for a great food at a one-off, local establishment without paying tourist prices, this is the place to be.

Best clam chowder I've had. Really like the dill and the freshness of the clams. Lobster roll was flavorful and tender, and the brioche bun was really buttery. Will definitely be back.

The clam chowder was very good and literally an overflowing portion. The scallops were delicious and a very generous portion. The lobster roll was good-not the best I’ve had in Boston but still pretty good! The restaurant is in a fun spot with a cool vibe. Cool views of the marina during the day as well.

We were in Boston for a week on business and stumbled on this place our first night. We ended up coming back 2 more times because we loved the cozy atmosphere, friendly service and the great food! Lobster roll and clam chowder were out of this world. Beers were also great. Definitely will come back next time I’m in Boston!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Sail Loft in Boston, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This cozy seafood restaurant nestled by the waterfront offers a true taste of classic New England cuisine. As a seafood lover, I was delighted by the extensive menu that featured an array of fresh and flavorful dishes. The Sail Loft's commitment to quality was evident in every bite. Their seafood is sourced locally, ensuring the freshest ingredients and an authentic taste that captures the essence of Boston's coastal charm. To start off, I indulged in the New England Clam Chowder, a staple of the region. The chowder was rich and creamy, with generous chunks of tender clams and perfectly cooked potatoes. It was a hearty and comforting way to begin the meal, setting the tone for what was to come. The service at The Sail Loft was attentive and friendly, with the staff displaying genuine enthusiasm for their menu and ensuring that every diner felt welcomed and well taken care of. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, with a nautical-themed decor that added to the charm of the dining experience. Overall, my visit to The Sail Loft was a true delight. The combination of fresh, high-quality seafood, skillful preparation, and warm hospitality made it an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a local or a visitor to Boston, I highly recommend paying a visit to The Sail Loft to savor their classic seafood dishes and soak in the maritime ambiance.

Great restaurant in a great location! The New England clam chowder is excellent. Best in Boston (so the waitress told us... And said she had to as part of her contract. Lol). It actually was the best we had while in Boston. It is heavy in dill though, so keep that in mind if you don't like this particular spice. My wife had the swordfish sandwich, which was delicious. I had the Reuben, which was good, not great. Service was absolutely top notch. We'd definitely come back.

Pretty disappointed by this place. Came here my first night in Boston. While the restaurant was busy and the hazy IPA’s delicious, the food was not. The burgers and chicken sandwich had virtually no flavor at all. It seemed like they didn’t even salt the burger or chicken. The blue cheese barely even tasted like actual blue cheese. The fries were decent. I almost never leave food at a restaurant but left over half of my burger. I would recommend coming here for drinks/atmosphere over food.

We loved it so much we went twice! Service both times was excellent (best we experienced, honestly). Small place, right in the water, casual dining. Eat outside on the back deck if you get a chance (only 3 tables so it's small). Incredible value for the price! It's very small and the bathrooms leave something to be desired, but service is fast and friendly and food was amazing!!

This restaurant is a special place! I was attracted by the look of the restaurant but at the end the food itself was the most enjoyable experience. Staff was very friendly, was visiting Boston for the first time with my friends, so obviously we needed to try some local foods! I told the hostess that I wanted to have the outdoor seats by the water, and we had to wait about 35mins......it was worth it! It’s on Monday that we went, so I am guessing it would be quite impossible to get those tables on the weekends! Since there are only 2 tables out there and a total capacity of about 6 people. We had the cocktail shrimp, the single lobster and the clam chowder. Service was really fast, I am especially in love with their clam chowder, so rich and flavorful! The seafoods are all very fresh! I enjoyed every single moment while I was in there! Also, I have to say that they have done an excellent job on the protection practices so everyone can feel safe dinning in! Kudos!

Comparing to other flashy places nearby, this place was so unassuming and low key. It provided just good food at a reasonable price. We got good food when we last visit. From seafood pasta, to broiled sea scallops, to calamari salad, to whole lobster, they were good, much better than average. Food came out quickly and the wait staff made sure we got what we needed promptly. We will definitely go back here again when we are in town.

Really enjoyed our lunch here after a harbor cruise!! If you come here you must try the clam chowder. It was the best I’ve ever had. It’s a very large portion and I could of had just that for my lunch. I also ordered the Ruben and boxed that up to take home and even reheated it was absolutely delicious.

After all the places near the convention center were not accepting any more reservations, we came here because it was 1st come 1st serve. Excellent choice. We had great service and the food was more reasonably priced than the other seafood places we had looked at. I ordered the lemon pepper shrimp and lobster caesar salad and it came with a huge mound of seafood and the shrimp were still hot cooked to perfection. It was definitely worth the walk. Plus a great view of the water.

Just get the Clam Chowder, ask questions later. We stopped in for a late lunch on a chilly Boston Fall day, and had a great time. The clam chowder is as advertised, warm creamy and flavored very well. We then had a lobster roll, which was meaty and not overly dressed (yes). We sat right n the water, and service was great. Know it's a more laid back spot, and it's not meant to be anything lux or upscale, but the food is great. Definitely worth the trip!

If I could give this hidden gem 10⭐'s, I would. I went there last night for dinner to celebrate my friend's birthday. I've traveled many places for seafood, this by far is the BEST EVER! I ordered the fisherman's platter and she got clams and sea scallops. Every bite was like I died and went to heaven. The food was right out of the water fresh, seasoned deliciously and cooked to PERFECTION. Our beautiful and wonderful waitress Taylor was PHENOMENAL! Sooo glad I discovered this hidden gem! 😍 We will definitely be back! 💯💙🍤🍸🍽

Nice old seafood restaurant. Great and tasty food, very pleasant staff and fast service. Must admit that the food here is expensive. If any regular dine in would usually cost us around $100, here we payed more than $200 with tips.

Looks like a hole in the wall, but food comes out hit and fresh. I've always lived the clam chowder- thick and creamy. But at our last visit it was loaded with dill- way too much. I ordered the"Seafood Portifino." It had a great amount of seafood, at least 6 large scallops, but... I'm pretty sure the lobster meat was frozen. It was rubbery and tasteless. This was the first time I experienced this in a dish. Overall, the food was good.

Great restaurant! My buddies and I shared a clam chowder and each got our own lobster roll. They were all delicious. Service was also great. This was a fun place to go. It was very busy. My first ever lobster roll! It was very tasty and wonderful! However, the others in my party thought it was going to be served hot and with butter, but it was cold... And still wonderful! I do wish I could have tried a hot one with butter, but this one was great! The french fries were phenomenal!

If you love seafood, then this is is a good restaurant for you. We were here for a weekend lunch. Good luck finding a parking. They have indoor seating only - reservations recommended. Service so good, it can get busy and you will have to wait longer. We tried their clamp and lobster chowder, i definitely recommend it, it tastes good! Also tried their Cajun popcorn shrimp, pesto chicken sandwich, lobster ravioli and seafood platter. Everything tastes good. My favourite was lobster ravioli.

Truly the best New England clam chowder in Boston! You get the real dockyard experience here. From the views of the pier to the old photos on the walls showing some of the piers history. They get quite busy here but the food service is superb and they really get your food out quick. I ordered the best fish and chips along with the clam chowder while my wife ordered the lobster and seafood pasta. The fish was super tender and it overly greasy. The “chips” were the perfect mix of potato and crunch. The lobster tender and the sauce delicious. Great place to get a view and dinner.

The food was amazing. Lobster bisque was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Lobster was extra fresh and really size, easy to break apart, calamari was very good, the combo platter was amazing also with really decent portions. Highly recommended. Service was also top notch.

All the reviews say “best clam chowder in Boston!” which made me very excited. But it was simply ok. They put LOTS of DILL in the clam chowder, which i’ve never seen before and no one mentioned in the reviews. It worked, but was still weird. The waitstaff is very nice, and the food is enjoyable. Just be weary about the amount of dill in the chowder.

(Translated by Google) Best clam chowder ever. The rich soup can be refreshed thanks to the dill. A 7-year-old daughter ate a bowl almost alone and replaced another bowl. The lobster stir-fried in Chinese was also delicious with rice. I went for lunch for three consecutive holidays, but I told my name at the reception and was called 45 minutes later. The gentleman at the reception was very kind and I could wait while looking at the sea, so I was able to wait comfortably. (Original) Best clam chowder ever.

Very cute restaurant right on the harbor. Loved the clam chowder, some of the best I’ve had at a restaurant. It’s super thick and loads of clams and potatoes. The herbs gave it a nice flavor too. We also had the lobster roll which was very good and the lobster Mac and cheese which was amazing. Both the roll and Mac and cheese had lots of lobster and were both super flavorful. Definitely recommend!
