Tried to call and reserve the table before going and it says no table, then we walked in around 12 with 6 people in total. Luckily we have a table immediately. The view is good if we could have a table besides the window. I have been told that it has 3rd floor with even better view. Maybe try next time. The Caterpillar Roll 🍣 is highly recommended! I ordered Grilled Swordfish steak with French fires and Fregola salad. The French fries is good, but salad is okay. The fish is fresh, but if you want to have something more flavored, maybe try something else. My friend tried butter roasted potatoes and sweet corns as sides. He said sweet corns are good but potatoes are too many and inside is too plain. It provides freed bread before food which is okay. The waiters are nice and polite.

I have very mixed feelings about Legal. They were highly recommended in blogs, YouTube videos, and from locals. But, I was slightly disappointed with our experience. First, the location is amazing, and we were seated near the water without having to wait though we were a large party. Everyone was amiable, and our waitress was very accommodating. However, our food was nothing to brag about (except the oysters were impeccable). As you'll see in the pictures, the cheeseburger I ordered from the kid's menu was not properly cooked and was still raw inside. The mac and cheese our friends ordered (also for a child) tasted “like aspirin” or rotten cheese. Our waitress and the manager came to apologize and refunded our money for both items, which were appreciated. But, as a tourist, this isn't an establishment that I would return to when we visit again.

Excellent food and great service. We could not get a reservation but the restaurant has a great amount of bar seats for walk in traffic. We were seated immediately and had some amazing food and drinks. This restaurant sits in the harbor and the atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. This was our first time in Boston and the first place we ate. It set a good tone for our visit.

12.16.23 We wanted fresh and good seafood. All 4 of us absolutely loved our dishes. The place was busy but the wait staff was most accommodating. The drinks and food came out really fast.

We had reservations but showed up a bit early so they recommended we try the rooftop bar. Which was nice. There is a good view of the water and a decent amount of seating. They only had one cider and it was in a van but the Sam Adams beer on tap was good. Then we moved downstairs for our dinner and had a lovely experience. Our waitress was great. Super kind and helpful. We wanted some whiskey and even though their is no official printed list she came back with a list in her head of a decent selection. We ordered the scallops with a corn succotash (pretty good) and the lobster roll two ways: warm butter poached and cold with lemon Mayo. They were both excellent. The fries were really good as well. Not sure how this place stands up to other area seafood but it feels like quality food in a relaxed atmosphere. We would recommend this place!

It was an excellent experience dining in the restaurant. The food was so good and the view of the riverside made it even better! I had the clam chowder soup which was the best I have had so far. The swordfish was cooked to perfection and the cheesecake was amazing! Loved the sauvignon blanc. A must visit if you want a high-end dining experience in Boston.

Very delicious & Fresh food, best view of harbor. Service is excellent and very very nice…when we found our car lost (got towed) the GM Joanna provided us with fully support, trying everything to help us, find the contact information and called for us for detail address and even give us special gift for our “bad luck” which makes us feel like home! Our regular favorite Legal seafood in Boston is closed so we tried a new location. Had to have a reservation. Got a nice table, water view, and an attentive server. Food- good but not the same as in our former location…I wonder where that chef went ?!…sushi - fish was great, rice - crumbles easy. Fish and chips - good but the fish is kinda dry. And finally, Maine lobster roll- good but having had lobster roll in Main- not the same…A pleasant experience but we have to find that chef 🙂

Nice atmosphere with good selection of food and chowder. Multiple stories with a nice rooftop bar and view of the harbor. Food was delicious. Great drink selection and good cocktails. Great location right on the seaport. Typically quite busy, waiting 30 min or so for a table. Plenty of bar seats to wait.

Food was VERY good. Calamari, edamame not pictured. Came during busy weekend night. Service was slow an overwhelmed, although our larger party was hoping to spend extra time there visiting anyway, so it worked out well. Desserts were fantastic. View of the harbor from our table by the window made for a great experience.

I recently dined at Legal Sea Foods Harborside and had a delightful experience. The clam chowder was rich and flavorful, and the angry style jumbo naked shrimp had just the right kick of spice. The service was impeccable, making the meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant for a delicious seafood experience with excellent service.

10/10 experience! Tasha was our server and was absolutely wonderful. She gave great recommendations and happily answered all of our questions. My boyfriend and friend have gluten allergies and she was very knowledgeable about all the dishes. We would definitely come back again. I forgot to take more pictures but the calamari was so tasty. We ordered the fisherman’s platter, cioppino, legal’s signature crab cake combo , and lobster on the side to share. The scallops in my crab cake combo were phenomenal. Our first time in Boston, first time at Legal. Maybe what I experienced is normal, I don't know. Coming from California, the prices are double what I would expect, SO you must be paying for atmosphere. This location is right on the water, and a pleasant breeze as we ate lunch made the bill more palatable. The food was good, but not $26 for fish n chips good. The burger was good but not $18 good. Like I said, maybe this is normal for Boston or just the New England area in general, I guess we will find out as we are here for 2 weeks! Server was attentive, we don't regret going, but we won't come back. Too expensive!

I came here on a whim while being in the area for work. Walked in and quickly found a spot at the wrap around bar. (Even if it’s busy, stop in and see if seats are available along the bars!) I enjoyed the atmosphere and excitement of the restaurant. Food was amazing. I wanted to try a little of everything so ordered the crab cake appetizer, clam chowder, and salmon nigiri. Everything was delicious. I was not expecting a sushi menu but was excited to see it and enjoyed the salmon. The chowder and crab cakes were rich but flavorful and not overly heavy where I could still enjoy my whole meal. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re nearby!

I LOVE Legal Sea Foods! I can always get a great meal there that's fresh (if it isn't fresh, it isn't legal!) and delicious. I could order just about anything off the menu so it's always so hard to choose. This time, along with a bowl of clam chowder (which I loved! I convinced my friend who lives in California that Boston clam chowder is better), I got the simply grilled tuna steak, which could have used more seasoning, but it was still fine. The butter that I got with it didn't have much taste either. I still ate the whole thing and the street corn and broccoli were great sides. I just might try something different next time—I've gotten the crab cake that comes with shrimp and scallops before and that is excellent! I just wasn't as hungry this time so I didn't get that. My friend got a salad with cooked salmon on it and he said it was perfect. Can't wait to come back!

I visited Boston last month and everyone said you have to go to Legal Seafood. It was so good. The lobster bisque and lobster roll was simple delicious. The staff was wonderful. The view was beautiful. And the mango lemon martini was the best martini I have ever had. And I have had a lot of martinis. Lol

Legal Sea Foods - is a fixture in Boston. We had friends from Boston take us there while we were on vacation. The staff was friendly and helpful. Swordfish , Crab Roll, Clam Chowder and much much more. It was an easy walk from our location in the Custom House. It was was easy to see why people loved it.

Went for a group function. Given a private room with a nice view. Staff were very kind and attentive. Food was a good variety, including seafood, meat, and vegetarian options. Overall restaurant was very nice. Good view of the harbor.

I generally don’t like eating at chains but a friend recommended their seafood. So off we went . We arrived 45min before our reservation so we went to the rooftop to have some drinks. Lots of outdoor seating on a beautiful night. We were lucky enough to get outdoor seating for dinner as well. We got a steamed lobster and a warm lobster roll. Both were awesome as well as the clam chowder. I wasn’t a fan of the Boston cream pie but overall a great meal on a wonderful night. Definitely recommend!

Gluten free fried fish tasted amazing. The oyster selection and freshness was excellent. Sushi was prepared professionally and tasted great. The whole Maine lobster was cooked to perfection. We sat outside on a clear evening in early October which was very nice and comfortable. The staff were friendly and quick, like things is the US, but I did not feel rushed. Hard to beat if you are hankering for straightforward fresh seafood.

This place was so nice we ate there 2 days in a row. Loved the knowledgeable waitstaff that advised us from drinks to desserts. Seafood was hecka fresh. We dined during the lunch hours and we could definitely tell this place was popular amongst the neighboring businesses. Beautiful bay scenery. Would love to come back during the summer months to dine on their patio.

Had a lovely meal with friends. We didn’t have a reservation so we sat on the high top tables. Lovely view over the harbour. Served by Emanie who was attentive, friendly and funny. She really contributed to the pleasant experience we had. I’m actually allergic to seafood but friends enjoyed their seafood meals. I got the crispy chicken sandwich with fries and coleslaw. It was really nice and sensibly priced.

Some of the best food I have had. It is worth the cost. With our creole roots we aren't easy to please. It wasn't cajun but it was delicious and in a category of its own.

I gave it 5 stars because of the great tasting food, our waiter, and the manager. If I was rating only on the Male hostess it would be a 1 star. We had a reservation that we made over a month ago. I checked in early, he called us and tried to put us outside on the patio. It was cool, at night with no light, and it was raining. When I said we reserved for inside he said I don't know when you will be seated. But the manager just happen to come by saw the look on my face and asked was I okay. She sat us in the next five minutes😊

Our experience last Thursday was super excellent. The food was delicious and perfectly done. We sat outside on a rainy humid night. The whole vibe was comfortable and cozy. What made our night complete was the great service. Our host "Wajeeha" was cheerful, friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and kids' needs. She also helped us navigate the menu and helped us pick the right choice. Overall, we were extremely happy and will come back again! Highly recommended!

This place is great!! The prices are accurate for the fine dining experience you would expect from the view of the outside and in! The seafood was delicious and tasted fresh!! Oysters were perfect!! I had a crab cake combo and there could have been a second crab cake, but the scallops and shrimp that accompanied it were cooked to perfection!!! We were recommended this place and it did not let down!!

Food was over all good. We ordered crab cake - I felt was expensive considering the quantity. Shrimp scampi was amazing and my husband tried their Haddock which he felt was little bland. We got our food packed and happened to leave it on our table. I called within 10 min of leaving the restaurant and they said they threw it away. It was super disappointing, we paid for that food and it was just 10 min.. they should have kept the food just in case the person comes back. Not a pleasant experience.

My family and I really enjoyed the food and the drinks. We ate outside so we felt comfortable eating there. The staff was friendly and helpful. My brother wanted steak but they were all out so that was a disappointment. But the view of the harbor was lovely while we ate.

It was the best legal seafood I have ever had in Boston. Because of the location of it, I truly think legal seafood should be near the sea. The food is awesome, as always. The white wine is tasty. If your friends visit you from another city or country, I am sure that's the great seafood to check out. Especially when you choose the table near the sea. (Although after 5, it's quite dark outside. )

Some of the best seafood I have had in Boston! The sushi is so fresh is almost still swimming on the plate and the clam chowder is rich and creamy, my #1 craving on a chilly day. All the drinks are reasonably priced with a vast selection. It’s the perfect spot for a work lunch, a date night or a good time with friends. Be sure to check out the rooftop!

Beautiful venue on the water. Large patio and spacious indoor space. The extensive menu offers many options for your preferences. We enjoyed all our items and mostly famous New England clam chowder. The service is friendly and attentive.

Hands down one of the best dinners we had in Boston!!! The harbor view from our table was the perfect backdrop and setting for our dinner. The food amazing and the service spectacular. Our server Gorge was 1st class!!! He took his time with us mentioned the specials and offered great advice on choices which made our dining experience perfect... From the lobster bisque, fresh local oysters and lobster our taste buds could not have been more pleased... I truly can't say enough about this dinner and George.... That night we ate like Kings and George made us feel like Kings!!

Beautiful restaurant and good service with excellent view. The speed of service and food delivery was perfect. The appetizers were simply the best. Would recommend bang bang cauliflower, tataki and oysters. Entrees were very good but chicken was under seasoned /dry. The lump crab had too much mayo. On the service, server was attentive and smiling but as more tables around us got filled - he lost focus a bit- ex put refill water in a glass of sprite or taking forever to get the check - small things like that. Place is bit pricey but so is fresh seafood (I.e value for $).

I loved Legal Seafood! The atmosphere is fun , service if great, food is incredible, and the martini’s rock! We had the lobster tails stuffed with crabmeat, green peppers, and crunchy crumbs! Scrumptious! Of course we tried three different kinds of oysters which were all really fresh.. Harbor side location is right on the water with a beautiful view! It was a blustery day but it was nice to watch from inside out. They give you a big piece of there version of Boston creme pie on the house. It was the best I’ve ever had!

** Review of Upstairs Restaurant ** AMAZING view, professional staff, but food isn’t very good. Ordered the clam chowder, firecracker sushi roll, and the rainbow sushi roll. Unfortunately the chowder wasn’t very flavourful, and the sushi didn’t taste fresh. The rice was dry and so was the seafood in it. Spoke with the host at the entrance of the main restaurant and he informed me that the upstairs has a different kitchen, and he didn’t seem too concerned when I informed him of our experience. The view of the harbour is absolutely stunning and that’s what earned them the extra star.

Food was absolutely delicious!!! Fun fact...their clam chowder has been served for every presidential inauguration since Ronald Reagan! I can taste why! So good! Crystal, our server was an awesome host! Cod fritters, lobster bisque soup and fish tacos were so good!

came here for the first time this past monday. we went to celebrate mother's day on Monday to avoid the crowds that Sunday brings we had such an amazing time! they sat us at a table next to the windows that looked out onto the harbor. it was too cold that day to sit outside. but at least by the window was nice. our food was outstanding. we ate sooooo much and left very please with leftovers. our servers were very nice as well. we had one woman to start but I guess they had switched over to dinner so we finished with a different server. nevertheless, they were both attentive and very nice. I will surely be back as the weather gets better!

Great food and very friendly and helpful staff. I do wish they had a little more selection in their "classics" menu but all the food is tasty and done well.

Dear Management, My girlfriend and I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant. We want to thank Brian for the hospitality and friendliness that topped our night. He was an exceptional waiter that made our night absolutely wonderful. As visitors in this wonderful city, our experience was absolutely great due to this restaurant across the street from our hotel. The food was absolutely delicious. The scrod was so good that days later I continue to be reminded of it. We want to thank this restaurant for a great night.

Although I know some people say it's overrated, Legal is great and definitely worth it. I got take out, but if I ate inside the experience would have been even better! There are lots of options for seafood, but all of the seem to be good. The salmon and swordfish my group got was cooked as ordered.

Wonderful sushi and salads on the roof deck. I had the Crab and avocado salad, as well as the rest dragon roll. Great quality seafood. They serve Lord Hobo Angelica as well, which is one of my favorite IPAs.

Not only does this place have spectacular views, the food is unbelievably delicious! I had the salmon burger. It was moist and juicy with a wonderful blend of sweet and spicy flavors. Would absolutely be back here!

Good Bad&Ugly New Years Day Dinner Celebrating our 1st Wedding Anniversary. Good: Nice atmosphere. Clean and spacious.. Raw littleneck clams and oysters were good. Beautiful view. Bad:Fried clams were fried in a tasteless batter, a bit greasy... piled on top of the butternut squash side dish. Coleslaw was mediocre. Rolls blah. Ugly:Overpriced and over rated. Waiter was uninformed, must have been new, he left the table to find out for every question we asked. Didn't know what beers were available on tap. Bottled beer came out as cans. He told us all fish was farm raised nothing wild caught! Really.... at a seafood place on the water in Boston Seaport?? Very disappointed. We ended up splitting the fried clam dinner because the fish filets were farmed.

Very beautiful place, right near the water. The food was amazing. Large selection of seafood with no fish dishes (great for those who have fish allergy). Delicious cocktails. I definitely recommend this place!

One of my favorite restaurants ever. I am tempted to visit everyday. Dare not and only when I deserve an occasion to reward myself for great results.

I went in looking for a nice quiet dinner with a friend, I wasn’t really dressed for the occasion and my friend did not end up coming so I had a nice quiet dinner overlooking the harbor. I had the swordfish chop and truffle fries. One word. Excellent. More food for one person than what I had bargained for! The staff were friendly, professional, and attentive. The waiter I had was terrific. Top notch staff. Overall it was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had with a terrific view. I’ll be back when in town for sure!

Big disappointment!!! Took my mom for her 80-th birthday. Service was ok,had to wave or get attention to another server to get something. Food was okay. We ordered for mom a dessert (Boston cream cake) when server brought it had a HAIR IN IT we told the server and with no apology went and got another one.manager was on his phone right in the middle of the kitchen facing the ocean ,never came for table visit.place is going down hill At this time more than ever should be more attention to everything in the restaurant industry You lost my business!!

Started on tgr deck but the sea breeze was too much... the staff graciousoy move my daughter and I inside with a great view. My dauggter lives in NC now and was craving fried clams and i had the shrimp buffalo shrimp mac n cheese with blue chees crumble...Both Outstanding!!!

View is great at this restaurant when I was there and the first floor had all the doors open. Food was good as always in Legal. This one is more special with the view. Service was excellent here as well.
