While in town for lunch, it was suggested by a friend to go to Emmetts. We enjoyed the atmosphere, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the delicious food. We ordered the clam chowder, the beef stew and the shepherd's pie. All were nice sized portions and quite tasty. We will definitely revisit when in town again. The decor was right in line with pubs I've visited in Ireland. Cozy atmosphere, lots of photos and history framed on the walls. The only thing some could find issue with would be that the restrooms are downstairs. We enjoyed our lunch and will gladly return in the future!

Loved the vibe for the place. Authentic Irish food and ambience. Felt I'd stepped into Dublin with the rich mahogany bar and furniture. The fish and chips was simple and satisfying 😊

For insight into their complete lack of class, read their childish response to my review below. Considering the lack of service, the unprofessional response is not surprising. Do yourself a favor, just go to The Black Rose. Friendly, great service, traditional Irish music every night. ORIGINAL REVIEW Definitely looks the part. But a very disappointing visit. Irish bartender, though very underwhelming. Seemed put out. Irish owner passed by us 20 times while we were the only people sitting at the bar- not a word. Bartender asked if I wanted food.bi said yes. She proceeded to take a break and eat next to me for thirty minutes. Never asked me again. Drank my beer and left. Utterly disappointing for a place that was recommended. Maybe you'll have a better visit? FOOTNOTE: You're response to a negative review is your opportunity to show people curious about your bar that the experience is not indicative, but accidental. Instead, you choose to publicly show your lack of understanding of the service industry. Your response was immature and grossly unprofessional, and a shining example of what NOT to do in a management position.

Great place to experience an Irish pub. Playing the Irish music. Has that rustic atmosphere. The beer was Emmets home brew that had a nice flavor. It is a red ale. We had the garden salad that was very fresh. The clam chowder was very tasty. We tried the Trio of Irish stew, chicken pot pie and shepherds pie. Very filling. The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly. Try it out!

Was a great meal, my wife got the Shepards pie and I got the fish and chips. We liked being able to sit my the window on the beautiful day that we were there. Would make it back here next time we are in town.

The waitresses here are nice and friendly. And the foods are absolutely amazing! The Irish plate with beef must try As a foreigner, I think its a great tavern that deserves to visit! It’s good to experience the British style of a bistro. Cocktails and wine prices are also reasonable and taste smooth.

Popped in for a proper pint of Guinness and an Iced Irish Coffee on a hot afternoon. Service was great. Lovely Irish accents. Liked it so much, returned that evening.

Emmets, where have you been all my life? I took a different walking path to the Boston Athenaeum and came across this cute pub. On my way back home, I decided to try it out. The onion soup and the fish and chips are both remarkable. The fried fish is one of the best I have tasted, and I have eaten many a fish and chips. Fries were piping hot, coleslaw creamy and top-notch. Full ketchup bottle on the table. The servers were very attentive and friendly. They checked frequently on their guests and refilled water. Definitely coming back. Hostesses were very helpful and friendly.

Would highly recommend! Very nice Irish style pub. The house beer, an Irish red, was very good and so was the food. Staff were great and the prices reasonable.

Came in for lunch. Had the Shepherd's Pie and it was good. Liked the atmosphere but it was really warm in there and the outside temperature was only in the 70s. I agree with others having mentioned the staff is limited and have a lot of area to cover so you have to get their attention and need patience. They have live traditional music but didn't stay long enough to enjoy.

I'm glad we stumbled upon this popular Irish bar called Emmets. Every Friday, they've got live music which truly enhances the already- lively atmosphere into a party. Our table wait did not take long, but once seated by their prompt service we were ready to order. For starters, their fried pickles were delicious along with the French onion soup, which oozed cheese! Mains; wife had their traditional fish and chips, and I had their fish sandwich (Emmets Fish Combo). Portions, oh boy they do serve large portions here. For drinks I settled on Tuly whisky and tried their Irish cream.

What a special (and delicious!) true Irish pub! We loved our Irish Coffee and our amazing potato skins, stuffed with Irish stew. Then you add the music ... perfection!

Solid Irish pub with traditional Irish food. Everything you’d expect. A bustling bar with Shepard pie, perfectly poured Guinness, Irish coffee. Food is delicious. Try the trio (taste of Ireland) you won’t be disappointed. Tye Guinness onion soup is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Exactly what we were looking for in an Irish pub - beautiful, cozy rustic atmosphere, live music and great drinks! I had the Salmon dish which was delicious & filling, and a very well done Hot Toddy. 👍🏾 A gréât place to chill after a day of exploring.

Highly recommended. Great food and atmosphere and nice staff. We ordered Fish N'Chips, Shepherd's pie and House marinated stack tips. All of them were tasty and the portions were large. One Fish N'chips would be enough for two people. overall it was a good experience

I have never tried French Onion Soup... EVER! The whole idea of a Guinness French Onion Soup along with others raving about it made me finally try it. It was absolutely delicious. Sweet and not overpowering on the onion taste. Emmet's will always be a stop on my visits to Boston now. The atmosphere was terrific as was the service.

Great little Irish pub. Service was very good. Manhattan and whiskey sour were great. The calamari with Wasabi sauce was original. The French onion soup was good.

Couldn't come to Boston and not stop into Emmets! Guinness Beef Stew and a Tullamore D.E.W. Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere! Makes me miss the pubs in Dublin! Slàinte!

Absolutely wonderful, tasted just like I was in Ireland again, wonderful staff. Quick service. I got the Guinness onion soup, and the taste of Ireland (Guinness beef stew, Shepherd's pie, and Chicken pot pie)

Very cute Irish Pub! Had the Blueberry Basil Lemonade, very good. The Buffalo chicken dip was alright, it was pretty runny, I don't think it had cheese. Which is fine, just wasn't my favorite. Service was great!

The chowder was so good! Should have ordered a bowl….lots of ingredients not just soup! The fish & chips were cooked perfectly! The staff were very friendly and nice! A great Boston experience!

This is a Irish restaurant right next to Suffolk University right on Beacon Street. Staff was very nice and we were seated and attended to very quickly. Had a decent spread of food but obviously majored around some Irish meals. I ordered a cup of New England clam chowder and a burger and fries. The chowder was delicious. So thick you could eat it with a fork and was loaded with clams and potatoes. Burger was with bacon and Cabot cheddar cheese. Delicious as well. And the prices were very reasonable being in the heart of Boston. Highly recommend it and definitely will return on my next adventure to Boston!

Sat and was quickly brought a beer and was not offered a food menu. When the bartender was done chatting at the other end of the bar maybe 20 minutes later, I was able to flag her down and ask for one. Food was good.

On a return trip from Ireland my wife and I googled and found Emmett’s. Now we had eaten some true Irish food in Ireland but my wife really loved the fish and chips at Emmett’s. So much so that we ate there again last night. My favorite was the Irish sampler platter

We stumbled across this gem just wandering through town and was really glad we did! This place is exactly what you would want with a classic Irish pub. Cozy, friendly atmosphere with lots to choose fromThe sign said the best Irish coffee in in Boston and I can attest, it was delicious! Warm coffee with Jameson whiskey with cool cream and brown sugar. Delicious! We're definitely going back

Great place! They've got a few Irish dishes, all delicious. My one complaint would be, I would like to see some more traditional Irish dishes. One more detail, that makes the place feel authentic... Every single employee within earshot, had an Irish accent.

This place definitely got the crown of serving best Irish cofee as well as best dinner menus in Boston town. The beautiful waitress take care of the the restaurants alone for all the services. All vintage furniture, and a vibe of being in an old Boston hub was really special to me. Don’t miss this place in your next visit to Boston.

Amazing house ale. Best beer I’ve had in Boston. The fish & chips were mediocre. The cod plate was just ok. Chowder was better than average. Overall worth it for the beer.

Very well located. The hostess/ waitress was very nice and friendly. We ordered their fried pickles and they were fantastic , We also shared a Taste of Ireland and finished with an Irish Coffee which was very creamy. The atmosphere was great and it is cutely decorated too.

This place was a great little find. Wait staff and the bartender were on point and friendly. Ambiance and the food were fantastic as well. It was at the end of a long hot day when we rolled in so we were ready for some cold drinks and good food. Started with the clam chowder which was some of the best I've had anywhere, then we ordered the "Taste of Ireland" which was three portions one each of their Guinness beef stew, chicken pot pie, and shepherds pie. They were top notch, but the pot pie and beef stew were definitely our favorites. Ended the meal with what they advertise as the best Irish Coffee and was not disappointed. Will definitely be back.

We had a really nice time at this place, just stopped in for a couple of beers after our city tour and wanted to soak up some local atmosphere. It was very crowded and there was a loud woman sitting behind us making noises every couple of minutes and being shushed by her table mates. I thought she was drunk, but it turns out she was not, it was something else altogether. They left pretty quickly. But we got to talking to a pleasant local man at the bar and had a nice time conversing. Although we wished we had been more safe with wearing masks 'cuz the place was really crowded and we didn't expect the man next to me to turn around and start talking right in our faces unmasked, so we were a little nervous (and it turned out we had good reason to be). We should have been more careful. So wear a mask in a crowded bar, would be my advice. Still giving this place four stars because it was fun and lively, the music was very, very good.
