The margaritas was good probably the only thing I would order if I come back. The food not so much. Very bland. Tequila wings are frozen not fresh zero crisp a minor heat. Chicken fajita bland and the pork I can't and won't ever again. Did I mention I liked the mango margarita on the rocks and that is all. $55 later says to self I should have gone to Joses

It's a unique place, the dishes were good, servings very big. I got the burrito and we got a quesadilla to share. I was a little disappointed with the quesadilla because only the middle had filling, the sides had none. Otherwise service was good, great place to grab a bite after wandering through the Common.

The place is busy enough, which would lead you to believe the food is great too. Being a native Texan maybe I am biased, but the food and drinks left a lot to be desired. The food and drinks were OKAY at best. Bland food. Chips taste store bought and salsa is not far off from Pace. Make chips in house and fresh salsa and it will go a long way. Got premium and house Margaritas and they were weak and dull flavored. The server was great and prompt. All in all, I will not be returning. For a restaurant with Texas printed on the receipt, it should really go back for a visit. Every Mexican restaurant is better there, even the bad ones, and they would do well to take some notes.

It was close to our hotel. Thick, chunky salsa had a little bite, but not overpowering. Warm chips are always a win for me! The fajitas were good, but a lot of onion. Huge portions, enough to share! Friendly staff. I wasn't a fan of the sopapilla.

Food was great and prices very reasonable! Pulled pork burrito was fantastic and my wife enjoyed her quesadilla. Strawberry Rita was very tasty.

Others who have rated 4-5 stars , please don't get mad. I'm rating this place based on my exposure living in Mexico, TX, CA and FL. Maybe it's Boston Mexican cooking. The atmosphere is excellent, vibrant and exciting. Here goes the rest of my justifications for my rating. Our server came to us pretty quickly. Informed us he would get our drinks first. We ordered margaritas requesting no salt. Then, my daughter asked for water with lemon. The server asked if she wanted salt with the water. Quite confusing. She clarified just water with lemon. The margaritas are weak, both frozen and on the rock. Our food servings are of an adventures on its own. One of the dish, chic quesadilla came with no sour cream, pico, quac..condiments. my steak tacos was unusual, served with red cabbage. Steak was under seasoned, so was the quesadilla. Another order of fajitas was extremely under seasoned, tasted like bare grilled steak. Btw, I've to be the server in order to get the condiments, water, etc. Otherwise, we will either not get our food or get the wrong thing due to our very confused server. Portions are small. Prices are Boston's pricing. So, if you wish to experience mediocre Mexican, go for it!

Been in Boston for 3 days and this is the first time we didnt feel we had been ripped off! We had fajitas for two, beer and a litre of sangria and free nachos to start, $51, great value. Excellent, quick service and really good food, whats not to like? Recommended.

Solid Tex Mex place for the Northeast. If you need something quick with good size portions, I would recommend this for an easy lunch spot.

We had a wonderful experience here. The food was so tasty and came in really good portions. The drinks were delicious. The service was splendid, even when they got busier as the time went on.

This place has lots of potential. First, I think Mexican restaurants are on more minds on Sunday. Unfortunately there were only two people running the restaurant and one was a bartender. It was very hot and it took long to be seated with 4 ppl. Service was timely, but certainly not fast. I read they're known for margaritas. Great mags, frozen were smooth and done right and on the rocks were strong, and well mixed, this, plus liters and indie music saved 2 star in atmosphere. Music was pretty low, but still Good. I got the steak fajitas. I was very very disappointed. I feel that fajitas aren't cut in cubes especially atop a mountain of veggies, which I loved, even unseasoned and $20 (literally, not even pepper). I think with one more person in the dining room serving or at least a host to wipe and seat tables and refill drinks this would be 5 stars in all categories... Assuming there's seasoning. Wings were amazing, as is true with most Mexican restaurants imo, but amazing here. Quesadilla was also great and lots of drink selection. I'd go again and update my experience.

Fajitas and Ritas offers average Mexican fare with average margaritas in a San Antonio style Tex Mex joint near Boston Common. It’s a middle of the road spot with festive decor, quick service, but subpar flavor.

The food (pulled pork tacos) was really disappointing it tasted like it was stored in a warm dusty living room - not many chicken options which stinks - the drink I got also tasted like straight vodka. But the whole atmosphere is pretty upbeat

Visiting Boston So I thought let's check out Mexican food here in Boston. Nope. OMG this is a twist on Mexican food. Let me start by saying the atmosphere was really nice. Our server had no personality at all. Felt like he really didn't want to wait on us. Ordered the fish tacos and my date ordered tequila lime chicken wings. The fish tacos had no flavor and was bland. I was able to eat the fish tacos with the dipping sauce from the tequila lime chicken wings that my date had with her chicken. The black beans came out of a can and you could taste this. They could have spiced it up a little bit. Also. The rice was okay. She ordered 13 tequila lime wings and we left 6 wing, just couldn't eat them. The chicken wings were not cooked the way they should have been. I know a little bit about chicken having work for Tyson in Arkansas. My policy is I don't leave food. This was the first time in over 20 years and I left food behind uneaten. Now this review comes from a person that loves Mexican food. I like Mexican food and Texmex and living in the south. I get great Mexican food. Which states not visit on a consistent basis is Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. If you do not have good Mexican food, you won't last long in these states. Fajitas & Rita's can work on the east coast but this would never work where I am at.. this review is just an opinion.

The food is terribly under seasoned, it's like they just put a goya beans can in a ramekin and some instant red rice. The fish tacos had no seasoning and they used cornmeal, again, no flavor. Thin piece of fish. For some reason they put onions in every single quesadilla, even one with just cheese, so beware. The salsa was sweet and weird, but they had Cholula sauce available, so that makes everything taste better. We got a margarita liter and it was decent, flavor wise but weak as hell, I doubt there was any tequila in it. The attention was good though, the waiter was very nice and the place is clean.

Stopped in for a quick dinner when arriving in the city. It was very quiet (maybe 5-6 people including myself and wife) around 3pm. Ordered very simple meals, pulled pork tacos and fish tacos. Both were extremely dry. No sauce or cheese in the pulled pork which was strange but there was an abundance of cabbage. Rice was good. The chips were great but the salsa tasted like tomato sauce. Drinks were good.

Your food I keep coming back to whenever I meet friends by the common. It's always the hidden gem they didn't know they needed in their life! The margaritas are always a showstopper, and the food 🥑 never disappoints. This last time, was the first time I ever ordered the nachos, and I have been coming back here almost 20 years! They were perfection, and I made a lot of nachos during the pandemic!

The one star is for the ambience they have. We were a group of 6 people. The kitchen here even on weekends closes at 9.30. Our server M conci seemed super rude and in rush. We ordered a side of Guacamole which tasted bad. We informed the server. She came back saying I tasted the Guacamole served to you guys and it was fine they just added too much lime in it( in a very rude tone). Hell no! The avocado tasted fermented all 6 of us were wrong there!! Their food was pretty average too

Food was good and the service was good too. I settled on this place because it was closer to my hotel and they had a seat when I my first choice didn't. It seems to be a popular hangout for the local college students. The staff were all friendly. It wasn't anything to write home about but it was a good hearty meal that did the job.

Great food, they seemed to be short staffed but who isn't nowadys. Everything from the margaritas, tortilla soup, tacos, salad and wings were amazing and the service was great!

Fun vibe restaurant. Paintings of boston and everything that has to do with boston on the walls. Hot fresh sizzling fajitas brought to ur table. Tequila Wings that are delicious. Free Nachos and dip brought to your table. A great place to dine in the inner city.

Good place. But I think we got there at quiet time. Food is tasty and price is decent. Good place to hangout as well. Boston garden is nearby. Had to work around getting the parking. But that is expected being in downtown. Dinner time should be more happening I suppose. I was expecting ruse and mashed beans with fajitas but this place does not serve it seems. But taste was good enough, no complaints abt that.

Great food. Great prices. Fast service. One of the best restaurants in Boston to have a big get-together.

Had lunch there with my colleagues today. Really enjoyed the mango margarita. I use to work downtown over 20 yrs ago and we would always have lunch here. It was great to see the pandemic did not destroy this business. I would go back

F&J catered so well to a very loud and hungry group of Harvard Lampoon members. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was ecstatic. I can't wait to go back soon!

  • 5/5 Christian C. 2 years ago on Google
About as good a place as you could ask for for fajitas and margaritas. The food is great, the margaritas are cold and delicious, and the chips runneth over. This would be my choice for a low-key dinner out if anyone ever asked me to go for a low-key dinner. Lampoonery, food, drinks, location -- what more could you want?

  • 5/5 Jenna M. 2 years ago on Google
This place has some of the absolute best margaritas. They may not be fancy, but you can't beat the price for the pitchers here (especially in Downtown Boston)! The food is always great too - nothing special, but never a bad meal. Service is usually pretty quick too!

This place isn't bad and it isn't great. There's graffiti every where. The one women's bathroom was clogged up. The food was nothing memorable. The shrimp was over cooked but the steak was good. I had to ask for them to actually add liquor to my margarita because it tastes like all mix. Good prices though.

  • 4/5 Alex S. 3 years ago on Google
This can definitely be a fun place to drink margaritas and beers with friends, but the food isn't particularly great. I would say come here for the drinks, and perhaps split and appetizer or two. Regardless of what you do, I think the atmosphere is fun and the prices are super reasonable (especially for Boston).
