The food was great. Finally a restaurant that has reasonably-sized portions with the quality to match. All that being said, we waited over 20 minutes for before someone took our drink order, the appetizer was delivered without any utensils, napkins, or the water we had asked for. Two tables were sat after us, received drinks, appetizers, and their main course within the time it took us to get our drinks. I would still go back to try more of the menu and to upgrade my rating. Hopefully this was a one off experience.

We arrived at this spot for a meeting. we heard about this place from many people. Well, we were not disappointed. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we felt fantastic. The food was just great. We loved this place very much and we will definitely return to this restaurant. Keep it up.

I am staying at the Boston Park Plaza which is fabulous and extremely impressed and this restaurant is around the corner so we went today 11/13/21 and at first the waitress was wonderful but then we waited and waited and never got our dessert or husbands beer so we said we will take a check and she said ok and then when she came back I told her we where disappointed and really where looking forward to the beer and dessert and she did say sorry a few times but she made no attempt to resolve it or ask if she can go get it now. I always tip and 30% but this time nothing. We are on vacation and pay well and expect to at least have a waitress try. We leave tomorrow 11/14 and I also will add the table behind us was complaining about something she messed up and I understand being so busy and making mistakes as happens to all of us we are human but I was so shocked she didn’t even offer to go and get at least the beer. Like that’s rude

Terrible service, rude bartenders and cold food. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!! This was the worst dining experience I have had.

Had appetizers and drinks here last night. I have to say, Mike at the bar was one of the most attentive and personable bartenders I have met in quite a long time. He made us feel like we were regulars on our first time! The bar is well set up, ambiance is on point, and service is second to none. Go Mike! Thanks for making our overnight in Boston spectacular!

Nice interior, networky/middle aged atmosphere. Cocktails were all ~15 but not mixed very well considering the price and “contemporary” or up-scale pub idea. Gin pom crush could barely taste any pomegranate or even orange. Apple mule was OK, more ginger than apple. Cocktails weren’t bad but should have been much better considering price and marketing

I visited MJ's with a group of friends and we had a fantastic time. First, the food was amazing. I had the beef stew, which really hit the spot and some of my friends got the fish and chips, which had a huge portion of fish along with great thick fries. Second, the service and atmosphere was great. The waiters were attentive and we got our food in relatively short order despite the place being quite busy with a private party behind some screens set up while we were there. Despite the bustle, it still felt very welcoming and cozy where we were seated. Third, the restrooms were kept in very good order. I had to get up once during the meal and the bathroom was near immaculate. It had clearly been attended to well and had great styling. The stalls were spacious enough that they didn't feel crowded or anything, despite having to wrangle a backpack in there with me. I can definitely recommend M.J. O'Connor's based on my visit there. I would certainly look to visit again if I'm ever in the area in the future.

My family wanted a simple, quiet meal after a very long drive and checking into our hotel. We chose this location because it was nearby. It is a pub/restaurant, that offers a nice atmosphere and fair prices. It seemed like a busy evening for them. But, we were quickly seated and our waitress was attentive. We had to ask for silverware, napkins, condiments, refills, etc. But it arrived promptly each time. The menu is limited pub style food and mainly burgers/sandwiches. But that is what we expected and our food was good (Burgers and Reuben). The menu offers enough of a variety that most people would be satisfied. The only small disappointment was that we were hoping for some onion rings. But they weren't on the menu...no worries because their fries were a decent substitute.

We were supposed to go get Italian but this Irish restaurant caught our eye and I'm so thankful it did. The staff was so friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. There is plenty of room for larger groups of people.

One of the nicest meals we've had for sometime. The food was great and service was excellent. My first taste of Sam Adams Seasonal bitter 🍺 very good also. The level of back ground noise can make it a little hard to hear conversations.

The service wasn't the best and the food has small portions, anyway it's an Irish pub and the vibe is cool, but I don't feel like all the menu is totally Irish recipes.

Food was wonderful! Plenty of flavor and cooked well. I highly recommend the philly sandwich or any of the flatbread pizzas. The service was better than I’ve experienced at many restaurants - attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.

Ate here on a business overnight because of its close proximity to the Park Plaza hotel. @5pm on a Tuesday night, was given a table immediately. Waiter was prompt, and very nice. He was very attentive, and check on my quite often, however not to much. I had the warm pretzels with beer cheese. They were good, however I prefer more salt on them than I got. The beer cheese was good and hot. Pretzel app comes with four, so picture isn’t accurate. For dinner, I had the Rueben sandwich and fries. Both came out piping hot, and were very good. Overall it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back for another meal.

The chowder is award winning, but the Guinness onion soup steals the show. The only reason they didn't get the full five stars, was due to the fact that both soups were served luke warm, almost room temperature. We actually went twice, just for the onion soup, since it was so outstanding. However, the second time was diminished due to the temperature at which it was served.

This was the best clam chowder EVER! Everything we had was great, atmosphere very nice (although wish had more Irish music since it was an Irish bar). Would definitely stop here again! Staff very friendly. Loved the bread pudding for dessert.

Came here for a quick lunch after going to the lighthouse art space and it's less than a 5 minute walk. The employees are so friendly and nice! The food was pretty good, too. My kids got the grilled cheese (and there are 6 options on the kid's menu!). I had mac and cheese with bacon for lunch. Best food was definitely the clam chowder. Amazing! No wait to sit and the food came out very fast and hot. We've been here before and we will come back next time we're in the area.

WOW! I'm a Boston native, but relocated to the Midwest. I was in town with some friends and we were looking for a bite. We walked into a door that was in the 'closed' part of the restaurant. There were plenty of signs telling us to walk through the restaurant to the "open" side. We stood at the hostess stand for less than 30 seconds until a hostess greeted us. We saw a corner open at the bar that could accommodate our party of three, and we love bar seating so we asked the hostess if we could sit there and she was very welcoming to that. We get comfy and the bartender Megan was more than happy to offer us food and drink menus, as well as answer our questions about their specials, and make alterations to fit our needs. Our drinks were phenomenal! We ordered 2 beef stews and a Buffalo chicken flatbread; all very tasty!!! Megan went above and beyond for us! They were clearly VERY understaffed, but the entire staff worked so hard you could hardly tell! Megan was going over something with us when a couple walked in. I mentioned to her that behind her back a couple had walked in, she greeted them within 2 minutes saying "I'm so sorry I'll be with you in one second". She then headed straight over, and they left immediately and abruptly while insulting Megan. Completely uncalled for. Megan took it and kept apologizing, while being verbally accosted, she was clearly shaken by their rudeness. They missed out on great food, great service, all for a good price. We tipped Megan very well because of the abuse we saw her endure and she ran out after us, in tears thanking us. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! Ask for Megan, and you'll be happier than a clam! She's kind, fun, informative, and so much more!

I have to admit I stopped in more than once during my visit the week I was in town. Food was good and I should have gone for the chips and fish, which looked huge! The staff and service was great. It would be a lot more Irish if the staff wore kilts but I understand it can get rather cold in Boston in the winter ;)

Nice atmosphere, good food, good drink selection. Our server, Gregory, was excellent. Very attentive and friendly without being overbearing or fake - which we have experienced a lot during our stay (I'm assuming to increase tips??) Fish & chips were great (coming from Brits!) The pretzels and tots were perfect for snacking on while deciding on entrees

In Boston for the weekend and stopped in for a bite. The fish and chips was AMAZING, hot and crunchy. The service was beyond spectacular! We had a tall Irishman as our server and he made the best recommendations of fish and chips and a rum punch that had a hint of coconut and did not dissapoint one bit. The manager was a delight to talk to as we left. This was the perfect place to spend our first night in Boston!

Seth was amazing behind the bar. My friends and I had such a good time because of him. He is incredibly entertaining and has so much local food and restaurant knowledge. If you have a chance go in and talk to him. I’d drink a pint with him any day.

A really beautiful place to eat, outside seating is available and the food is excellent. I had the chowder and whisky burger. Unbelievable. The guy who runs the place is a really nice and friendly guy as are all the staff.

Nice place to get dinner, with great variety of beers and dinner available. The only downside is that they already serve the main dish to all customers while the appetizer is kot even finishes. But beyond that pleasent experience with friendly waiters

Really nice and cozy Irish style pub/restaurant. I got the fish and chips and it was great. Not the best I have ever had but their fries were up there. Highly recommend this spot, it seems like it's never crazy busy.

  • 3/5 Lolita L. 1 year ago on Google
Apprantly their chicken fingers/tenders were more like the Chinese restaurant version, meaning the flour they used was not what someone would have when ordering chicken fingers at a place like this. The chicken mac and cheese was good and I seen a chocolate cake that looked really good but I didn't get to try it. The atmosphere was upbeat and the waitress and host were nice.

  • 3/5 Austin G. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing food; terrible service! I ate here tonight by metaled before it was busy. When I was sat I wasn’t given any silverware, but I figured I would get it when my waitress came. After waiting a few minutes (not long) my waitress took my drink order (seltzer water, nothing complicated). I also placed my order for food Herb Chicken. My food was brought out very quickly; however, there was no silverware. The individual who brought my food out didn’t notice so I had to wait to flag down my waitress. The food was AMAZING I typically don’t order a dish like this but I am glad I did. Here is my issue, once I received my food my waitress never came to check on how it was and never refilled my drink. I had to flag down another waiter to get me a drink after I finished my entire meal. He got my waitress and she brought me my check. I am incredibly patient, especially when eating alone, but this was ridiculous in light of how slow they were. I would return in a heartbeat, but I would hope I get another waitress.

Nice place for comfort food or a quick bite. Friendly, helpful staff that are attentive and quick. Had the Mac and cheese with nice thick cuts of bacon mixed in and my wife had grilled cheese and tomato soup. They were just what we needed after a long day of traveling. Went back a couple days later and had some apps as a mid-day snack... loaded tots and chicken tenders. Perfectly portioned and delicious. Can't ask for much better.

We ended up here before a show, with limited time, when we were running late and somehow could not find the Legal Seafood that's pretty much across the street. We had hungry kids and a tight schedule, and the wait staff here were very accommodating. The place is very unpretentious, it's a pub serving pub food and beer, and knows it. It was busy and noisy, with football on the TVs and a lot of fried food on the menu. Our food came out quickly, our server was attentive (despite the crowd), and we were able to eat and get to our show in plenty of time. The food is very much standard pub fare. The kids got fish and chips, we got the margarita pizza and tater tots. It was exactly what we needed.

We had a party of 5 for lunch. The restaurant wasn’t crowded. Our waitress seemed more interested in talking with her colleagues than serving our table. Food was good quality "Bar" food. Prices seemed fair. Our soups were lukewarm at best. I might give them one more chance and return.

  • 1/5 Rob G. 1 year ago on Google
This place was a really great place get a Guinness. It was poured perfectly by the reasonably friendly staff. The issue is the entire place smelled literally like a dumpster. The smell was so foul we could barley finish our Guinness. That says a lot for a Guinness drinker. You have a good Irish pub thing going on but no one at all was phased by the smell and one person in our party nearly passed out. Hopefully it was a one time thing but beware if you smell trash, you man not want to get seated. Hopefully we can get that stench out of our cloths.

This food was so good that even though my beef stew didn't come out warm, it was still super good ( yes, nothing on my plate was even warm, no I didn't say anything because it was still delicious). The baked Cod was fabulous. The apps of taco and wings were good. My kid loved the Flatbread pizza so much that he got a second one. Service was friendly, polite and attentive. Place was clean and we were able to find parking on the street. This location was at the park plaza..

I've been here a dozen times before but finally decided to rate this place. The atmosphere is perfect for an Irish pub and exactly what you'd expect in Boston. Everything I've had on the menu has been very delicious and an appropriate portion. The Irish burger is outstanding, but the shrimp curry I had last night was out of this world. The service was quick and courteous.

What can I say good about this place... great location and outside dining. Other than that - bland food and not the best cocktails. She ordered roasted chicken - very bland and the mashed potatoes and veggies cold. I had the steak tips - medium rare, came in well done... again everything cold - even the meat. Brough a new one, cooked better and hot, but not tender meat and veggies didn't have salt? Service was slow to finish off, although I commend them on comping the drinks at least.

We had a very poor experience. Went to the bar for drinks and an early dinner. The service was horrible. We basically had to initiate everything, including having to ask for utensils. The bartender left his shift without telling us, just leaving us hanging at the end. However, the pretty girls next to us seemed to get a lot of attention. Just saying. As for the food, it was adequate. We saw them microwaving a lot in the back, so I'm not convinced everything was freshly made. They got my husband's burger order wrong, but at that point, we just wanted to finish up and leave. We would not go back.
