Great place! The food was really fun. We tried the Irish curry cheese fries that were super different and yummy. We also tried the Mac and cheese, which was excellent. Apparently they put whiskey in the sauce. They were having a special day of remembrance for someone and there was live music all day. The singer was awesome and folks began to sing along. There was a Strongbow cider on tap and the Guinness was awesome as well. It was a perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon. We would highly recommend this place.

Mr. Dooley’s is far better than any restaurant in the area. The food is reasonably priced, you get to sit inside and have access to their super clean bathrooms. The service was super fast and you get plenty of food. Definitely recommend the clam chowder. I had previously thought about eating at Quincy’s Market because it is known for being cheap but I soon realized that it is packed with people. There is virtually nowhere to sit and all the food is overpriced. Great environment to be in and highly recommend.

We have been coming to Mr. Dooley's for over 30 years and love it. We always try to have lunch or dinner there, at least once when we are in Boston. Bartender Terry does a great job and has been there as long as we have known the place. They often have a band and always offer delicious, authentic Irish entrees, beverages, and other pub style foods. It's also a great place to stop at for a cocktail before or after your other activities for the day or evening.

I didn’t think it was possible to get potatoes wrong- Mr Dooley’s manages to accomplish just that. The “menu” is basically potatoes done. A few ways. From frozen food entree “mashed potatoes” with mystery sauce to their “famous” curried fries. The restaurant thinks sprinkling curry powder in cheese sauce makes a curry. The sausages were a mystery foam material. Save your time and money and head to McDonalds or Wendy’s for fries. You’ll be much more satisfied.

Probably the best find yet. I've been to Boston a couple times and this little Irish pub has been the absolute best place to get a drink, chat up some new friends and grab some amazing drinks. Speaking of drinks, the bartender has some great insight on scotch and whiskey. Just ask, he'll be happy to fill you in.

Wowzah this place is good. I got the sampler. The chicken pot pie was fair but the beef stew and shepherds pie were amazing. We also got the curry fries that were surprisingly delish.

Great atmosphere and delicious shots. Everything you would expect from an Irish pub. We did not eat there but definitely enjoyed drinks. On the weekend it is packed. Be patient because it’s worth it. Prices are very reasonable.

Not the best service but decent for a late-night drink Walked into this pub with a few friends later in the evening. It is a small bar that gives off a few dive-vibes in the midst of Boston. It has some outside seating in a section of roped off side-street. There is not a lot of seating inside. Open fairly late most weekend nights. We had a few small plates; the sausage, fries, potato skins, none of which were overly impressive but are simply bar food. I recommend the Guinness float. Because why not have ice cream with your beer? It is worth a try for the sake of novelty if you have never had one before but is kind of expensive. The staff was fairly neglectful. We ended up with two different servers and had to wait quite a while before we could order drinks and then again when we decided on food.

I absolutely love this pub! It is an incredibly authentic pub. I was craving fish and chips and a pint while on a business trip and a friend had recommended Mr. Dooley's to me. It did not disappoint! I went by myself and sat at the bar and ordered "the fish and chips and a pint, please." I was tickled that I didn't have to specify what kind of pint I wanted. The fish and chips tasted wonderful. Almost creamy! The patrons were great too. I will be back!

This place is a packed pub full of locals (& tourists like us) for a week day- seat yourself at an open table or bar chair! We loved our pretzel with beer cheese and Rueben sandwiches. I also enjoyed their Irish Coffee. Plenty o’ Irish dishes to choose from!

The best potato skins I ever had! Especially good if you like light fluffy ones- similar to a baked potato but also crunchy!

All day, Irish Breakfast is right in the heart of Boston. Close by to all attractions. Comes with fries, a slice of white and black pudding, beans, 2 eggs cooked any way u want, 2 sauasges, fried tomato, 2 irish sausages, 2 slices of bacon and a slice of soda bread. It's very tasty, and the server was happy and helpful. Terrific atmosphere with a very happy, lively, and relaxed and neat, casual crowd.. you gotta go here

Authentic Irish vibes in an inviting setting. Indoor & outdoor seating. Very friendly staff; patrons a mix of locals (also friendly) & tourists. Food attractively priced for the downtown location; nothing fancy, but hit the spot. Fish, bangers, coleslaw all good; IMO and speaking as a cook, mashed potatoes and fries could be improved.

This place is so good that I went twice during my stay in Boston! Perfectly poured Guinness and authentic Irish pub fare, what more can you ask for. Both the shepherds pie and the fish & chips were amazing and well portioned. This will definitely be my go to place when I’m in Boston, great pub experience overall. The Irish server Pauline is the best (and the sweetest)!

An all time favorite place that still stands the test of time! Terry the bartender is one of the best and their live Irish music adds to the classic pub atmosphere.

Only stopped in for a couple pints of Guinness but I can say they were the best I’ve ever had (as an American) my colleagues are Irish and were able to confirm that they were indeed properly poured pints. The bartender told us they pour on average 3,500 pints a week so it seems like they know what they’re doing.

We stayed up n town for a week and visited this the night before we left. I wish we would have gone sooner so we would have known how much we would have liked it. We had the bangers and mash (was average) and the shepherds pie (was fantastic). The kids had typical kid stuff like chicken tenders and grilled cheese and liked those. The fries were great too. I wanted to try the fish and chips. They looked good. All the staff we talked to had a thick Irish accent. As Americans that was nice to hear. Try it out. Cool little place.

Everything about this place was exactly what I was looking for in a pub while on vacation!! It was bustling with customers, and live music!! The waitress we had was just the best, and the Christmas decorations were such a nice touch!! Thank you so much for a memorable dinner

Great pub with good live music. We went both at night and in the morning for breakfast. Was very good both times. There was a cover on Friday night, it was only 5 dollars. It does get very crowded but they have outdoor seating as well if you need to escape.

Real conversations are had here. This is the only Irish pub we could find in Boston with no TVs. Bravo, Mr Dooley. Love this place.

Nice place to grab a beer with friends. Descent selection and liked the atmosphere. Would consider elsewhere for dinner next time. Food was fair and the Ruben was not close to other reviews. Minimal corned beef for what you’d expect. See picture.

It was a mix of classic and alternative rock....chill, and perfect fit for my mood and the delights served to me with expedience and precision. Good job Mr. Dooley's....you made a picky finatical guy like me feel right at home...right away. Good prices too....for Boston. I recommend for Irish Pub officionados.

A perfect pub for us while we were on vacation. Had a great live musician and it was lively even on a Sunday night with people singing along. The sausages, fries and beer were all solid.

  • 5/5 Susie M. 2 years ago on Google
Wonderful atmosphere. Very much like stepping into an ancient Irish pub in the heart of downtown Boston. Hopefully you get the privilege of having Alecia from somewhere in Ireland based on her accent serve you. She dishes out good beer on tap as well as "tell it like it is" commentary.

The Guinness here is top notch. This is definitely a great place to go after work to grab a beer or if you're on vacation

  • 4/5 Steven J. 1 year ago on Google
Quaint little pub with a decent menu. We had the fish n chips and the Irish sampler-shepherd pie, Irish stew, and cottage pie-. Both meals were delicious and a decent size. So many other great choices it was hard to choose one.

Some of the best food I've had in Boston. We tried the club (so fresh!) and thr half Irish breakfast, absolutely amazing! The Playlist was great too, made for a wonderful lunch experience!

  • 5/5 Bud W. 6 months ago on Google
So I got the sliders and they were amazing. Though I did not partake the fish and chips looked great and were reported as such. The real reason for our trek here was they have Kilkenny on tap! One of only a very few in all of the north east. The live entertainment was outstanding. I will say it gets a bit crowded so be forewarned. But if you've been to an Irish pub with live music your probably expecting a bit of that. The staff is amazing! All around a place I will surely return to and suggest you do the same.

Exactly what you would want out of an Irish bar. Great Irish menu offerings like shepherds pie, bangers and mash, curry, fish and chips. The guiness on draft is at the right temp and poured perfectly and the ambience is typical of an Irish pub. Clean, reasonable prices.

My wifes food was great, I ordered a lobster roll. It was not good. It came on a regular hot dog roll, the roll wasn't buttered nor was there a side of fresh lemon.

One of the best Guinness so far! The Irish Breakfast was excellent also! Great place. Ok second visit: got Guinness of course. Tried the clam Chowder. It was perfect. And the Reuben. That was very good also. Everytime I go it gets better and better! They also got the Christmas decorations up with Christmas music. Very cheery! The staff is great also. Very professional and friendly. 6 stars!

Wonderful experience, wonderful food, wonderful staff! The lobster mac and cheese was delicious and came with a light side of greens to cut the richness of the main dish... perfect! The atmosphere is exactly what one would expect at a Boston Irish pub. I highly recommend Mr Dooley’s

  • 5/5 Steve H. 4 years ago on Google
So glad I decided to get dinner here. I ordered the banners and mash and it was excellent. The banners were packed with flavor and cooked just until the casing started to crisp, it was so good. The makes potatoes were well done too. I wish there was a bit more gravy but it all tasted so good I'm ok with that. The beans were well done too. The soda bread was stellar. I had no intention of eating much of the bread but I ate all of it. The apple crumble was really good for dessert and I'm glad I ordered it.

Food was par/respectable. Service was ok, until our server sat down with her friends at a table. I was trying to make eye contact for ten minutes. Finally, a separate server walked by and she took care of us.

I am very disappointed with the service. Everything was very slow. even at the end for some reason they took an extra $ 15 from me, I don't know why. They promised that the owner would call back, but no one contacted. Fooling tourists.

Stopped by Dooley’s for an early lunch after a fun New Year’s Eve. The Pub looked like an authentic Irish Pub. The Guinness was delicious. My friend had a Sea Scollop & Spinach salad. I had a classic Reuben sandwich. Both meals were massive and delicious. The restaurant was clean and the bathrooms were immaculate. The staff was Courteous and attentive. The place was hopping the night before. I would definitely return in the future
