Thought this might be a fun place to try for dinner. The area was still all decorated with Pride flags as they had the parade there that afternoon. Older building where we were taken down to the basement for our table. Adrienne was our server and she was fantastic. Friendly and efficient. The food came out quick and hot. Drinks were wonderful as she made sure our old fashions were just right. If we could only have stayed longer they had entertainment later that night. Fun decor and definitely worth the trip to that area.

Unassuming bar. Almost like a speak easy. In Boston for work and asked some locals for a spot to enjoy the nightly life. They recommended the beehive. We walked over there and it seems extremely low-key and like a ghost town. The hostess assured us they were open and directed us down a staircase where we could barely hear some music coming from. Once walking down, we were shocked that it was a packed and "happening" bar. Drinks and wait staff was great. Will come back next time in Boston.

Atmosphere is amazing! Food is pretty good (not the most amazing but also not awful), but I was a bit irked by the 5% fee on entertainment for the night. Our reservation was for 6:30, we arrived at 6:15. They immediately told us we had 90 minutes to dine. That’s fine, no biggie, but music started at 7:30- so we thought we would have a solid 15-30 minutes to listen to the jazz music. However, the band didn’t really get started until 7:40…and we were given our bill at 7:43 on the dot and asked to pay and vacate our table. So really we paid this 5% “entrainment fee” for 3 minutes of music on our total bill.

We made reservations for brunch here and had a fabulous experience! Not only was the food and service delicious, the live jazz music was a unique bonus! We had the coffee cake, avocado toast, and shakshuka, and all of it was delicious. We'll be recommending this place to friends! Two things to note: the name of the restaurant is not on the building so it can be easy to miss. Also the chairs were wobbly and felt a little unsafe.

The food was ok. The restaurant was busy but the service was really good. Not too much attention, and not too little. We didn't have reservations for when there was live music but nice to know they had it. Accommodations were made for the person in our party that needed the elevator. Everyone of the staff was great from the person verifying IDs to the persons coming to remove dishes from the table. Overall a good experience. Make Reservations!!

Delicious food!!! We had 2 Hors d'Oeuvres (photos below) which were in very big portions and 4 of us each had 4 different main dishes plus 2 carafes of red wine. Grilled brisket was to die for! Service was good, waiters were attentive. They also have live music after 10 pm on certain nights but we did not stay that long. It was a bit expensive, 75$ per person (tips included) but it was worth it. I came from NYC and it was a very cold night so it was indoor dining. Not sure if they have outdoor seating during summer. The only downside was that they did not ask for vaccination status.

The brunch at the Bee Hive was awesome! Service was good too, however they were hesitant to alter dishes based on peoples dietary requests. We had a large group and they were super nice and accommodating. I had a delicious latte and corned beef hash with cheesy potatoes. Many people I was with raved about their eggs Benedict! All amazing. Will definitely return soon.

Nice cozy place! For food we ordered truffle fried cauliflower, rich in flavour, we also ordered salmon and it was well grilled, the sauce is well flavored which really brings out the salmon! Drink is also very good! Highly recommended the Extra Fabulous, it has baileys inside and tasted like a dessert! Also the live band is really nice. Love the atmosphere here!

One of the coolest spots in Boston. Also caught Bruce Bears & Friends. Those dudes groove. Coolest show I've seen in a while. The restaurant is a dope little jazz spot. One upper bar with a projector showing a movie then a lower space with a stage, dining area , and A SECOND BAR. THAT'S RIGHT PEOPLE. Dimly lit and super cool. The food was stellar and the drinks are complex. Swing by

What a hidden gem this place is! Found this on a whim while visiting Boston and I couldn’t be more happier. Dominick, the Manager, went above and beyond to ensure that my mother and I had the best experience from the moment we stepped in. The food was incredible, the drinks to die for and the live music is the cherry on top. Highly recommend this place for a night out. So good, we came back the next day!

Atmosphere was nice, but the food was really bad. I was extremely disappointed in this place. Most of our guests got the lamb shakshuka and beef brisket. Both were incredibly sugary, and under seasoned. The fries that came with the brisket were oily. Even worse considering that these two dishes were two out of the seven options on their brunch menu. Two stars only because the band and atmosphere were nice. Would not recommend coming here at all.

Fantastic atmosphere of an old theater. You can hear the music well from any table. Great and fast service. The food looked delicious, but some things didn't taste right: like all eggs are hard boiled even when it is not typical for that dish. Overall a great place for brunch or dinner.

Came for drinks - atmosphere was good , but on the pictures it looks better lol. The prices are high for what you get. From what I understood they have night shows - I guess that what people are coming for. I would recommend to grab dinner somewhere else and just come back for drinks and the show. Patio is nice tho .

A great South End restaurant in Boston. Located on in an old theater, this restaurant is fun, friendly, and loud. My friend and I came for dinner and were greeted with smiles. We were shown downstairs where a stage is visible for a small live band to play. Unfortunately, no band was playing that evening. The tables are very small and a little close together, cozy but nice. The service is very friendly and treats you like old friends ready to recommend drinks and kitchen favs. The drinks are delicious, and the food... beyond comfort fare! The garlic shrimp, cauliflower, and ribs... so so good! I can't wait to come again and try more of their offerings.

Came here for dinner with some colleagues. The atmosphere is very cool, but unfortunately they didn’t have live music on the night we went. However, the cocktail menu is great and the server recommended a delicious Mezcal cocktail. I had the brisket entree which was good, but a little too greasy. However, would visit again.

Came for brunch with the live music. We were placed in a far corner away from the band but didn’t bother to ask for a closer seating. The food was disappointing. The coffee cake was pretty good but expensive ($12$ I had a basic eggs, bacon and potatoes and everything felt unseasoned ($24). Maybe pass on the brunch but maybe dinner with a show would be a better experience

They have the best burger in the town. Their cocktail are fire 🔥. I went there with 2 friends and we had a good time. Also, don't forget to make a reservation before you go. Otherwise, you can sit at the bar. They have live band music 🎶 😌 I had a good time

This place is huge and very beautiful. We went here for early dinner. I heard they changed their chief so most of the pictures you found online are not available. However, the food is very delicious, especially their hand cut fries. Their drinks is delicious too. Love the vibes there but 90 min seating is very short..

Went there for our daughter’s 21st birthday on a Saturday. We drove from NJ, so we decided to get a table around 4pm. Here’s the deal: 1. They gave us the wrong menu 3 times (brunch, lunch, breakfast, then finally the right menu for dinner) 2. Service was OK otherwise 3. Food was OK…maybe a little above average 4. Ambience was good but we saw a mouse meandering in the dining area 5. They said live music but no such thing. Maybe it was too early 6. We spent about 1.5 hours and $200, which seems reasonable for 4 people. They brought a cheesecake for the birthday girl at the end, which I thought was nice…only to find out that they had charged it on the bill. They also added extra stuff and charged in the bill that we didn’t ask for. Somehow they just seem to have made decision for us.

The Beehive is such a unique restaurant in the South End. The food, on top of the restaurant's decor, is just as good. We started with the ribs which were generously glazed. That sauce is SOMETHING! I caught myself trying to get some in on every bite. I got the butternut squash risotto which was good for a vegetarian option. Generous portion and a great balance of squash and cheese. My partner got the mussels with frites & bread. Some of the softest, juciest mussels I've had (with no salty odor)! The fries are cut and fried with a more home-made feel, which brought me back to my childhood. A little greasy, as expected. Food came out quick and hot. Drinks were good, I got the La Cosmica which caters to mezcal lovers. My partner always orders some tongue-twister of a drink and they perfectly made it. Hard to find this place if you're not paying attention but the inside is like a whole different world with the New Orleans influence. The ambience is lively even during the less crowded hours. Usually there's live music depending on what night you come. Definitely deserves a revisit!

Fantastic coffee cake with delicious berries, highly recommend getting it to share with the table. Corned beef hash was also excellent. We did not particularly care for the eggs benedict with country ham, which tasted very plain. Live music on most nights and weekend brunch hours.

We had such a great time and the food was the delicious! The service was also phenomenal! The only thing I suggest is that you plan ahead for parking (which we did not) and even though we were extremely late for our reservation, the staff at Beehive were still super accommodating and welcoming! Can’t wait to go back! I had the Queen Bee cocktail which was supreme, highly recommend it!

The three of us were seated in the basement - we had made a 6pm reservation but the outdoor space was already packed. Either way there was plenty of room, service was good and prompt and the food was surprisingly tasty. I opted for the $42 truffled short ribs which did not disappoint. The meat was melt in your mouth tender and the cheesecake rounded things out perfectly.

Great (strong!) and well flavored cocktails, and fun live music makes this a good haunt to visit. Can't say much about the food-tried the grilled shrimp appetizer - while rather wholesome in quantity and quality, it didn't do much for me. Also the kitchen closes relatively early (at 10pm) which meant we couldn't sample the other fares. Still an easy reco simply for the live music option!

I came here for birthday dinner and drinks with my friend. Great for drinks and music! Not the biggest fan of dinner. Pros: - The ambiance was top notch! - Their cocktails were great - Their Ricotta appetizer with toast was HUGE and delicious! - Their sparkling rose was very reasonably priced for a restaurant. It cost us $35 for the bottle. Cons: - Music didn't start until 10:00pm so you couldn't really eat dinner and enjoy the music - The staff was friendly but we were being rushed due to a time limit we weren't made aware of. - I wouldn't have dinner there again. Neither of us were very excited about what we ordered. I had the brisket which was overwhelmingly bitter from whatever smoking process they use. My friend ordered the vegetarian option which was very bland.

  • 5/5 Luke C. 2 years ago on Google
The staff was very nice, and the atmosphere was very cozy. As for the food itself, we got the Truffled Cauliflower appetizer, but it smelled to good we ate it right away before I remembered to get a picture. For the main dish I got the brisket, and while the flavor was nice, it was a tad dry which meant it didn't fall apart like brisket usually does.

Great brunch with indoor and outdoor seating. The American breakfast was very good all-around, especially the eggs and the Eggs Benedict with salmon was tasty as well. The restaurant is large inside so next time I am around the area I will try dinig inside for dinner.

Stopped in for a drink around 8:30pm on Friday night. We were lucky to find 2 seats at the bar right away! Had a lovely bartender who spent a couple minutes chatting about drinks. I requested an off-menu cocktail and was offered a few options on top of that! My sister got a martini and even had options for the type of olives. Excellent drinks, excellent service. I will definitely be back!

Its challenging to find a cool revamp of an old Boston building that was a labor of love for the owner and his long time manager. She was so gracious sharing the story of this revamp during the superb jazz brunch we recently enjoyed with them . The hostess to the servers where perfect. The musicians are excellent playing at the right level and tunes for this earlier part of your day. The drinks are top notch with the shakshouka (order with the extra lamb = Mm! ) the corned beef hash stands tall as a clean yet delicious start to your day.

Fantastic service and food!!! I have been having a bunch of food allergy issues lately I haven't been able to quite figure out so have basically been avoiding restaurants which is a total bummer because not much else to do during covid. The beehive went above and beyond to accommodate all my allergies and recreate a meal for me without any fuss. I was truly taken back. I called in advanced to see what they could do and they quickly offered up solutions without fuss or making me feel weird. Thank you for a much needed night out!

Came here for dinner on a Sunday night. While it was a little confusing how to order (the wine menu was given as a paper copy while the others were online), the food came quickly and was really tasty. The atmosphere was also really fun, and I look forward to going back in non covid times for the live music. Four stars only for the fact that vegetarian options are limited, but that’s pretty standard for Boston.

What a find! My daughter and I were in town for the weekend and looking for something different for dinner. The Beehive is much larger than I initially thought. Has a bar upstairs and down. There is an area for live entertainment downstairs as well. There was a jazz trio playing during our visits. Service was good. Food tasted excellent. We shared the Wedge Salad and had a Bacon Cheeseburger and Swordfish with polenta for entrees. The burger was served with had cut “chips”. They were thicker than chips, but not quite fries. Result = delicious perfection Great place for a date, dinner or just drinks.

My friend took me here for a going away dinner and we had the best time. They really made the outdoor seating area vibsey and welcoming. Our server, Greg, knew both the wine and food menu very well and was able to answer all of our questions. He definitely contributed to our overall experience with his prompt service and friendly/personable demeanor. We ordered the whipped ricotta as an app and it was addictive! I had the roasted lemon herb free range chicken and it was so tender and delicious. I typically don't finish whole meals but my plate was clean by the end of dinner. They brought out a cheesecake with fresh fruit and a candle for the surprise and it was great. Definitely recommend this spot

Very underwhelming. The reviews were decent so I thought I’d try it out. Paid “market value” (aka $44 when the check came) for a steak frites that was tough and flavorless. Cocktails were watered down. Ambience was so-so. Wait staff checked on us once through our whole meal. Would probably have enjoyed the evening still if it wasn’t incredibly over-priced.

Nice setting. Was seated downstairs. Waitress immediately asked us for our drinks. Ordered some coffee. Was horrible, most watered down beverage, 7-eleven probably could make a better cup. Had to ask for utensils. After that service declined to the point we had to find someone to place our order after 20 minutes. Food came out very quickly. Was decent, wouldn't go out of my way to come back. We did not have salt pepper, or even the chance to ask for it. After food came we lost the waitress completely having to seek her out for the check. Service was horrible, food was decent. Would not recommend for brunch.

I’m actually still at the restaurant writing this, that’s how good this place was. I had to wait quite some time (but it was a Saturday night — and worth it). I’m a party of 1 since I’m only visiting Boston, and normally people barely pay attention to people who are sitting alone. My server was SO SWEET, and two managers came up to me separately asking how my meal was. Which, by the way, the meal was phenomenal. I will 100% come back here when I visit Boston again.

Every time I've been here it's been a memorable experience. Sitting inside Beehive is like teleporting back to 1920's and I'm wearing a flapper dress and smoking long cigarettes. The service, food, drinks, ambiance, every aspect of the experience makes you go, "wow." That's what a solid restaurant is supposed to do. There are a lot of options in Boston, but Beehive is the right choice, every time. My date and I ordered the brisket, and hummus platter, but this is one of those restaurant that you trust will bring you something amazing regardless of what you order.
