We really liked this restaurant. The atmosphere, the service, the drinks, and the food were all superb. We had two sushi rolls, calamari, and Mongolian beef. Everything was delicious! We also had the cheesecake and the Big Fish desserts. Our server was super friendly, attentive, and knew just when to check on us. Highly recommend.

Honestly, RUKA is the best restaurant I've been to in Boston. The food is amazing, the vibes are immaculate, and the service is top-notch. Words fall short of the excellent evening I had here, and if you ever step foot in Boston, RUKA is the place to be. 10/5 stars. Shout-out to Anthony (our awesome bartender)!

In downtown Boston. Made a reservation for dinner. No issues at seating. The front staff were friendly and welcoming. Inside it’s beautiful. Dimly lit for dinner. Nice ambiance and music. The tables were clean. Server promptly arrived. Service was always good. The water always filled. Friendly and informative. There is a wide selection of food available. Peruvian Japanese. Overall everything tasted good. Yucca puffs were a bit underwhelming. Shrooms were good and The ribs stood out the most. Four pieces I believe. Smaller portions than I imagined. The desert is a nice photo. The drinks were quite good I would come back just for drinks next time.

Just came here for dinner and it was excellent!! I loved all of the food and it was great tapas-style to share with my family. We tried a whole bunch of dishes and our waitress was super helpful with suggestions and how much food to order. For drinks, I really enjoyed my pisco sour. I love pretty much any drink with an egg yolk in it. For makimono, our favorite was the crispy rock shrimp. The shrimp was perfect and the pineapple flavor was really refreshing in the sushi. We also tried the ruka rainbow which we enjoyed, but it wasn’t anything super special so that wouldn’t be my top recommendation. For other courses, we LOVED the pork ribs and the chicken fried rice was also excellent. The pork had a ton of flavor, especially with the marinade, and it was cooked perfectly. The cheese sticks were also super tasty. The only other thing I wouldn’t recommend are the pork buns. It was just fine. We didn’t try dessert, but maybe next time! I’ll definitely be coming back to this place. I’d also like to add that the server was accommodating towards my avocado allergy—all of the sushi we got came without it which I greatly appreciated. Lastly, the atmosphere and decorations in the restaurant were super neat. Definitely fun vibes.

Average food. It is for sure a nice restaurant. Drinks are good but again nothing out of the box. Food is just good.. I was expecting an explosion of flavor but it was just good . Plates are small. So you either has to order more than one plate per person or go when you aren't starving. Food 3/5 Service 4/5 Place 5/5 The service was great and fast!

Our visit to RUKA got off to an unpleasant start. We arrived a few minutes before both our 5PM reservation and the opening of the restaurant. We stayed at the Godfrey Hotel and entered in the side entrance connected to the lobby. Our party was not acknowledged by any of the 4 individuals at the host stand. It was very off putting, additionally, their demeanor was as if they were irritated by our punctuality. The lack of warmth in their greetings and attitude made our dining experience less enjoyable. After being seated, we were delighted with a bubbly and knowledgeable server. She was helpful explaining the menu, restaurant concept, and asked about dietary preferences and food allergies. We ordered our food all at once and it was gradually brought out a dish at a time. All the plates are tapas style and shareable. The sushi is next level, some of the best I’ve had. The quality in the sashimi grade fish and additional ingredients is apparent upon tasting. Our party of four ordered the Hawaiian Crunch, King Tupac, Yuzu Lobster, Spicy Tuna, Yoshoku Cheese Sticks, Yakitori Bar shrooms, Tako Meshi and Mongolian Beef. The food presentation is stunning and flavor profiles are pronounced in every dish. The cheese sticks are MUST order! The ambiance and decor is very swanky and appealing. Overall, our visit to Ruka was delightful absent the hostess interaction. Highly recommend and would visit again!

Ruka is an upscale unique restaurant located in downtown Boston. Dress up to enjoy the swanky vibes. This restaurant is a tapas style Japanese Peruvian mix. They offer delicious, high quality food but small portion size per plate. They are meant to be shareable. They offer a variety of sushi options. If you opt out of sushi, the portion sizes are small and not filling. You would require 2-3 plates per person minimum. I personally ordered Mongolian beef, St Louis ribs, and wafu garlic steak and chocolate cheese steak. My favorite was St Louis ribs. I'm not sure if I would reorder the steak. While tasty, the portion size was too small.

I'd say this was definitely a different experience! The food was unique but I felt as tho some of it was over priced. You're definitely paying for location and atmosphere a lot in the bill. The staff were good and attentive, our waiter even had some nice suggestions on food and drinks. I would be careful on ordering too much because the bill will rack up significantly.

This was a great surprise! We loved it. It you have kids make sure to get the calamari. The pink pieces (picture included) move. Very freaky and our 10 year old loved it. Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had.

Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The atmosphere, the staff, and the food. I especially appreciate their selection non-alcoholic mocktails that are world class and will rival any cocktail you have had. The grilled octopus is one of my favorites, and I don’t even like octopus! Don’t forget the desserts. They have wonderfully sweet endings that will end the night on a high note.

Some of the best in Boston. This place does it right. You may look at the menu and say to yourself you can get fried rice for cheaper, or you already know a good sushi place. That may be true, but the depth of flavors in the dishes here are exceptional. This may be the best fried rice I've ever had. Also, the sushi must be with the freshest of ingredients because each roll was perfect balanced on the pallet and had a clean delightful flare. The tuna app was perfect as well. With a swanky interior, helpful staff, and food that is next level, this place had to get five stars. Go here, get a drink (the tea for two is the way to go), eat lots, and tip well.

Varied and inventive food in a very (very) hip-looking space. The sushi rolls are excellent quality and feature 8 pieces. The kimchi fried rice was a standout, as was the Korean steak tartare. Cocktails were tasty and featured bold flavors. The only slight letdown was the shrimp sushi roll, which was okay but didn't live up to the other options. Would return for a nice meal.

Ruka is more like a pan Asian fusion restaurant with sushi than a true Nikkei Peruvian restaurant. As they say it’s ‘Peruvian Inspired’ keep that in mind. The dishes are beautifully plated and taste okay but I expected more for this place since it’s so hyped. The Peruvian flavors were not obvious. My favourite was the King Tupac makimono. The cocktail with sesame oil was a bit weird. Overall if you want Japanese or Peruvian plenty of other places in town.

The atmosphere and service amazing. The overall food is delicious, definitely american asian fusion. I gave it a 4 because some of the sushi flavors arent that great, but the rest of the food is pretty yummy.

Everything about this place was great. The sushi/fish/meat was all very fresh and tasted great. I highly recommend the pork yakisoba and the yucca fritters. The drinks were also fantastic and not too strong nor weak. The ambiance is super cool with a dark but colorful aesthetic. 10/10 recommend this place, I'll be going back soon!

Enjoyed the overall atmosphere of this restaurant, it had a new age vibe with the music and feel, but also brought in some earthy old feel. The pork belly was like butter in your mouth, which went well with the noodles. The fries looked very cool, but didn't have enough sauce and had a fishy taste which wasn't for me. Sushi was a little above average, desert was cool to look at but also average, and the drink was sweet, new, and refreshing.

Very disappointed. Atmosphere and presentation is great, however the quality is below average and cocktails are more than disappointing, we couldn’t finish their Peruvian sangria, it was that bad (no fruity flavor and a wine base, very sweet artificial syrupy taste). Their torch salmon sushi and crispy rock shrimps sushis were ok. Octopus wok was the best we tried and the wafu steak was very dull. Overall, very disappointing experience.

Great Asian influenced fusion food! Quality’s consistent among each visit. The portion’s decent, 4 plates were more than enough for 2 people. The beef tartare wasn’t quite what I expected from the description, it had strong raw meat taste which is the only plate I might not order again but everything else tried were great! Cocktails decent quality as well.

This is my go to pre theater meal before seeing shows at the opera house. Its great for solo dining at the bar. The food is excellent and comes out quickly. The drinks are great too, not too sweet for most of them. Ruka has excellent atmosphere. Its a great place, but for that reason can be very busy so if you're going with more than 1 person, I'd recommend a reservation.

Had an amazing experience at Ruka during my visit to Boston! Amazing food, attentive service, and the atmosphere was very lively. We ordered the hamachi ceviche, Lima style fried calamari, pork yakisoba, and the sticky ribs. For dessert, we had the cachangas which our server recommended. The presentations on all of these dishes were top-notch. My favorite dish was the Lima style calamari because it was very different than any other fried calamari that I’ve ever tried. The calamari had the right amount of citrus, it was so flavorful and crispy. My second favorite dish was the pork yakisoba because it felt more like a traditional asian dish except the sauces enhanced the taste so much more. The hamachi ceviche is closer to other ceviche dishes that I had with the nostalgic bursts of flavor as you bite into it but Ruka makes it special with their difference in flavor. My least favorite was the ribs because it was a bit dry for my liking. I’m not a rib person but I felt like the dish was just like any other rib with the pat chun sticky sauce on it. Service was very attentive and all of the servers was very knowledgeable about the menu! We were checked up upon just the right amount of times and all the server, bussers and bartenders were quick with the service. I love the atmosphere. There was a lively atmosphere as we sat by the bar and the music quality was very good. The lighting set the mood as it was more on the darker side: good for dinner setting.

Intriguing yet tasting Japanese-Peruvian dishes with an extensive selection of cocktails and other drinks. I am a particular fan of their sushi and the Peruvian fried dough dessert- it’s basically heart attack in a bowl but is so damn worth it...

Everything here is great, especially the Japanese fried chicken. Try the sushi, any of it. Get the bug fish for dessert. Some of the ingredients seem like they won't go together but they all fuse really well. Music is great. Food is great. Atmosphere is great. Highly recommend.

Nice atmosphere. Really cool decor. However, the food was not good value for the price. And as tasty as it was, it relied on sauces rather than creative slicing and presentation. This place has potential. It just has not yet been achieved to its maximum yet.

It was our first time at RUKA and we loved it! We did not have a reservation but they were able to squeeze us in at the sushi bar for about 2 hours. I would recommend making a reservation in advance though. The food was very innovative and delicious. The plates were smaller than an average restaurant so plan on sharing a few things on the menu when you. The restaurant itself was very cool and had very interesting decor.

We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The vibe was fun and interesting with unique atmosphere. We were offered drinks right away and water poured was ice cold (never saw the bottom of my glass and I drink a lot!) We got the Nasu Dragon and Hawaiian Crunch which were both amazing. So fresh and flavorful! We also got the Japanese fried chicken and chicken fried rice. So pleased with both choices. The chicken was crispy and the sauce (very similar to yum yum sauce when you go to hibachi) was addicting. The dish paired well with rice. The wings that came with the rice were cooked perfectly with a sweet and salty marinade. We shared a pot of green tea as well. Waiter was exceptional. Not one negative comment to share -definitely try for something fun and different. Tied for best sushi place I’ve ever visited.

We had such an amazing time!!! Frankie our waiter made our dinning experience FANTASTIC. His knowledge and recommendations took away the night. Everyq single dish had an incredible flavor and very good amounts. Don’t hesitate to go here but keep in mind you need a reservation for a much better experience, they stay busy! And if you ask for Frankie, you are in for a treat! He made our night with his excellent service.

Incredible food, really unique combination of Chinese, Japanese, and Peruvian food. The interior decoration of the restaurant is super interesting to look at, with columns decorated with dragons and a lot of intricate details. Many tables for 2 are high tables, while the larger tables are low, but those go quickly in the reservations so be sure to reserve early! Our server was fantastic, always giving great recommendations without being too overbearing. He was super quick to answer questions and bring out anything we needed. Service overall was excellent. The food of course was incredible, a really diverse set of options across cold dishes, wok dishes, sushi, and more. Everything was really flavorful and delicious. Highly recommend this place, worth every penny!

RUKA is a pretty fantastic restaurant, a breath of fresh air and taste into the DTX area. I am already a big fan of Lolita, which is owned by the same parent company/restaurant group, but RUKA is a spectacular blend of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine. It's on the pricier side, which makes trying all the possible options and tapas a bit difficult (as well as a pretty annoying massive up-charge for dishes that are Peruvian street foods) but the staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations. Came here for Valentine's Day and it was ultimately a great option.

I loved this restaurant! The vibes at the bar were amazing and the wagyu sandwich was to die for. The atmosphere at this restaurant was amazing. The vibe at the bar was wild, and my friends and I loved listening to all of the music being blasted. The wagyu sandwich was to die for. The meat was so flavorful, and the bread was so soft. We devoured that sandwich in under a minute.

Fantastic food and fun drink options. Their menu is the result of experimentation, in lieu of creating the sushi you can get elsewhere. The staff is laid back yet attentive. Join the roar of Sake-infused conversation after a long day at the office. You won't be disappointed.

The dishes were very tasty, and the service was great. I enjoyed all of it. The dishes were served on a small plates like tapas, and it got pricy. Overall, we order about 3-4 dish per person and then plus drinks. The drinks came with a lot of ice. If I knew, i would order them with less ice.

Saw this place on Instagram and knew I had to check it out! The allure of traditional Japanese artwork transports you through an exquisite dining journey supported by a limited yet inviting menu of offerings and an exceptionally helpful staff. On top of this, the five star presentation doesn't come with a heavier burden on your wallet, as I found menu items suitable to any price range. But, when it came to flavor, there was nothing cheap about it. High level presentation you would expect from an upscale restaurant, complimented by exceedingly appetizing culinary mastery. Hands down the best restaurant I've visited in the downtown Boston area.

We had an amazing dining experience at RUKA in Boston and I can't praise it enough! The sushi was out of this world, and the cocktails were both incredibly creative and delicious. When it comes to choosing your dishes, I highly recommend asking the staff for recommendations – they truly know their stuff. Everything about our visit was perfect, from the food to the service. The staff, especially behind the bar, were incredibly friendly and accommodating. If you're in Boston and in the mood for exceptional sushi and creative cocktails, RUKA is the place to be. Ruka is one of our favorite restaurants in Boston - we frequent there with clients and family when they come into town. The best part about this restaurant is that the menu keeps changing every few weeks or so so when you come back you’re never eating the same thing and there’s always new things to try.

The sushi rolls here were next level. I came here for a weeknight celebration dinner with my friends, and everything we ordered was beautiful to look at and delicious. All of the sushi rolls tasted fresh and nuanced in flavors. The fried tempura cheese sticks changed my life *sheds tear*. If you're not lactose intolerant, I highly recommend trying these. Their cocktails were solid - strong, with well-crafted flavor combinations. So we ordered two rounds. :) We were genuinely delighted when the waitress brought our sake shots on a decorated tray with dry ice. 10/10 for presentation and table service from the staff. For dessert we ordered a bowl of the cachangas with a side of guava ice cream (pictured). This was a simple dish with unexpected flavors - both satisfying a d refreshing, and great for sharing in a group. I can't wait to return here again for the food and the atmosphere.

The service & food here was so good... we were ecstatic. It was so hard to get reservations anywhere in town, so the bar queue was much appreciated. The bar tenders' strict adherence to it was done very professionally and helped get us in, in turn. Their attentiveness to us while we were at their standing table merits a mention. Often times you stand around and can't get so much as a look cast in your direction. But they ensured everyone was served and communicated with, which is truly remarkable. Everything we ate and drank was killer. *Way to go Ruka staff*

Service: really quite subpar. Waiter constantly addressed us informally, flippantly. This led to us tipping 12%. However, what took the cake was how he picked up the check before we had left the table, looked at the receipt while walking away, and had the gall to aggressively shake his head because he was evidently dissatisfied with how much we tipped him. I think we tipped him quite generously for his rudeness but he was not in agreement. He walked away, but approached us as we were getting ready to leave and disdainfully asked us if we were ok. Never in my life have I ever experienced a waiter picking the check up before the customer has left, nor have I ever seen a waiter actually check the receipt to see how much was tipped. Definitely soured the experience. Interior: very nice Drinks: good, but personally prefer the Lolita selection better Food: good, but pricey for what it is and not too memorable. Bok choy came out soggy. Better food (e.g. calamari, vegetables) can be had for much cheaper in Chinatown.

While the sushi was slightly better than average, my partner and I definitely did not think it was worth the price point

Ruka is such a fun place to go with friends. I went for my 30th birthday and had a great time. Excellent food and good atmosphere.

I loved Ruka. I was staying in the godfrey for 3 nights and the Ruka it’s just right there, the food and the drinks I got where really good. Please don’t leave without trying the Peruvian chocolate cheesecake it’s delicious. And the bartender who served me did a really good job his name is Tony if I’m not wrong. 👌

One of the best Asian meals I have ever had. My boyfriend and I shared an array of dishes that each tasted amazing. The best part were the cocktails, simple and refreshing!
