You don't need a special event to come here, you just need to want to have incredibly flavorful dishes, fun staff, a pop of "Stay foxy" neon lights, and drinks that look like mini Picasso's. I did go for Valentine's day, just as much for myself as my partner. Every single thing we had was delicious. The buffalo mozzarella and wild boar Bolognese were so light and flavorful. You can tell they make the pasta by hand and of course we had to have two desserts. If you like super sweet the donuts are the way to go, I was a fan of the pistachio chocolate olive oil cake. The minute we left I told my partner.... You can definitely bring me back here.

The food here is absolutely delicious & fresh. Tiagelle was a great started with a perfect mix of crispiness and softness. The Funghi Fritter is another favorite that has all the perfect flavors & textures - the mind really made all the difference. For the pasta we tried Zafferano con vongole & Pappardelle d’Antra and both were very good. The pappardelle was my favorite 🤩 In addition to all of that, the service was excellent & the waiter was very polite & fun - he took the time to explain dishes & make recommendations which made our night a successful one! I would totally come again.

I was in town for the night in Boston and came here on a recommendation. This is a tight quarters dining experience and the food is out of this world. We sat at a bar right in front of the kitchen and spent the evening with appetizers, drinks, a couple main courses and wrapped it all up with dessert. The menu is difficult to interpret but the staff take their time to explain it to you and make sure you are taken care of. I will be making my way back here on the next trip back.

I am from Emilia Romagna in Italy, and happily discovered that Boston has a place that offers some of the local specialties at The Fox and The Knife. Of course revisited. The gnocco fritto (fried dough) with mortadella is amazing, very tasty and pretty authentic. Definitely the best dish I've had here. As additional starters we've got tigelle and mozzarella di bufala, and focaccia with taleggio. It was a bit disappointing to see that only two tigelle were served, as traditionally this dish is served in loads in Emilia Romagna. Mozzarella was good, although the vinegar mushrooms were covering its flavor too much. Focaccia was definitely much better, tasty and soft. As a main, we shared a pappardelle all'anatra, also quite good, served al dente. They were reinterpreted with the addition of cinnamon, which made them a bit too sweet for me. But overall a good second place. We finished with struffoli with mascarpone cheese, a mind-blowing dessert that fought with the gnocco fritto for the best dish of the night. We paid $70 each, including two cocktails. Overall, a great place to taste some of the delicatessen of Emilia Romagna in Boston, with still some room for improvement, starting from the high prices for the food (a similar dinner would cost $30 in Italy). Will definitely go back, though, for a special occasion.

Great food, drinks, and service 10/10!! Fox & the knife was amazing and it jumped to the top of my list of favorite restaurants. We loved the broccoli caesar & crispy pork! We also enjoyed the drinks and the no-groni was the best mocktail I’ve ever had! We definitely will be back!

Amazing dinner start to finish. A personalized menu for our anniversary welcomed us when we sat down. Service was excellent, efficient, and friendly. Broccoli Caesar was tasty and tender, octopus crostini was unexpected but tasty - and the octopus was cooked just right. Tortellini in broth brought me back to Sunday dinner at my grandmother’s house. So good! And the chocolate olive oil cake had a great texture and flavor. Cocktails and wine were also very good. We sat at the Chef’s counter, watching the kitchen at work which was pretty cool- and not as noisy as I would have expected. Overall one of the best dinner experiences we’ve had in a long time.

We had a great time at Fox & the Knife. What stood out most was the amazing food. We tried a variety of the different pasta dishes offered and shared, which was a great way to try multiple things. The menu is very carb heavy, but they are such tasty carbs… The service was super friendly and showed genuine excitement for their food, but it was a bit slow at times. It took a long time for us to be offered a dessert menu, and then another long time for someone to take our dessert order. It may have been a bit of an internal miscommunication. However, we weren’t too bothered by it as we were enjoying ourselves, and the staff more than made up for it by being super friendly. The restaurant has a very lively and animated atmosphere.

I enjoyed my Valentine’s day dinner very much. Everything was delicious especially the desserts…. Mmmmmm they were all so delicious!!! Our server went above and beyond to explain how to order from the menu and how to properly eat the foods. One thing they messed up was giving us prosciutto like fried dough (which is in the picture) instead if what we actually ordered which was the gnocchi fried dough. But every was delicious so it was ok😊. The home made chai ice cream was outstanding! Overall, I have nothing bad to say about this place and would definitely come back again! 10/10

Small portions. Ordered this for delivery - it was $24. Pictured below is before I took one bite. I called the restaurant to make sure it was correct and they told me the portions and undersized to share. I can't imagine sharing this with anyone else. With only 6 agnolottis, it ends up being $4 per agnolotti.

Probably one of THE best meals of my life. And the service was incredible!!! I dined alone and felt so taken care of - this place is an absolute gem!! Cocktail: Buick I needed a moment after my first sip. This is incredibly unique, and requires your full attention to enjoy its complexity. Just…wow. Starter: Broccoli Caesar (+ fried chickpeas) Match made in heaven!!! Seriously, sprinkle the fried chickpeas over the roast broccoli Caesar. Incredible blend of flavors and textures. This will make even the most fervent broccoli hater a convert! Main: Papparadelle d’anatra Holy…wow. Amazing spicing on the duck and the pasta was cooked perfectly. An incredible fall dish. Dessert: Struffoli (doughnut holes) Seriously how was EVERYTHING this good?! Donut holes came out perfectly eggy on the inside and the mascarpone sauce and chocolate chips made it incredibly indulgent, but the donut holes were so fluffy it helped balance it out. And did I mention the service was impeccable?! Fox & The Knife deserves all of the awards it’s received, and more!

Updated 7/22/2020 - A few weeks into the reopening of dine-in seating. What a wonderful taste of normalcy! The food and service are as excellent as they have always been. The staff is obviously committed to a safe and successful reopening. I am unashamedly biased but F&tK is a wonderful place! We ate here shortlly after opening and the food was great. Three months later and the food is even better! We were a party of 5 which let us try a lot of things on the menu. A fun and tasty evening!

Some of the best pasta I've had (besides in Italy)- and I got it for takeout! Definitely says something. I believe I got the cacio e pepe and bolognese. Not sure if its the source ingredients or the way they cook it, but highly recommend!

Delicious food and the staff was all great! My husband called from out of state and arranged the menu for me and they did a great job of making me feel welcome! The only downside was that the bar on the patio is in full sun, which is toasty in the afternoon on sunny days! I had sweat running down the backs of my legs 😆

Delicious food & great service. Am withholding a star due to the post-pandemic seating on the street -- but there are some standard patio seats. Broccoli, yes! Focaccia, yes! Pasta, yes!!

We had dinner reservations for 5:30pm and arrived early; seated with no problem. Our server was excellent. Explained everything from start to finish on the menu. We had an idea what we wanted, but our server guided us perfectly according to how hungry we were and appropriately suggested the right selections. We appreciated that immensely and in the end, we were left not overly stuffed, but feeling just right with amount of food we ate. Everything was fantastic!! The focaccia and prosciutto combo was out of this world. We ordered the pappardelle and ossobuco. Absolutely delicious. I’d ordered that again and again. The dessert was very good, but I can’t remember exactly what it is. It was a deep fried little donut of sort with a cinnamon sorbet.

Several weeks into the lockdown, I wanted something special, a really nice dinner date for myself and my husband, and turned to Fox & the Knife delivery- it was a fantastic idea! We had a wonderful date night, and all the food arrived perfectly and tasted amazing. The focaccia was absolutely out of this world: so moist and flavorful (not to mention how amazing it smelled) and with a delicious cheese! Honestly I would have ordered two of these. The brussels and burrata appetizers were also so good. For entrees, the pork milanesa came with an incredible sauce and salad, and the combination was way better than I expected. The pasta with boar Bolognese was quite light on the sauce, but still very tasty. Overall, such an delightful evening, I'm definitely coming back in person!

We had been waiting to try this place for a while and it was certainly worth the wait! We'd read a few reviews of what to try, and was excited to discover we could order "family style" so we were all able to sample everything (and that we did!). Everything was fabulous and not a morsel was left behind. Some of favorites were the Tagliatelli Bolognese with boars meat - that was phenomenal! The "broccoli alla grignia caesar" was by far the best caesar you will ever taste, the home made mozarella so creamy... The agnolotti... you get the idea - it was all amazing. The pistachio gelato is absolutely not to be missed!

The food looked good, but I will never know as the extremely arrogant and rude customer service at the Fox & The Knife prompted me and my three friends to leave. My husband and I had seen the Fox & The Knife featured on a local news and culture show. We were ecstatic to gain a reservation on Saturday for our group of four. We arrived at our reserved dining time and were told by the two hosts that it would be a few minutes as they prep our table and suggested that we get drinks at the bar while we wait. My friend tried to order cocktails from the bar tender and was told to move as other people needed to be seated at the bar. He told the bar tender he didn’t want to stay at the bar and just wanted to order a round of drinks as we waited for our table and the bar tender made a face and ignored him. My friend made a second attempt with the bar tender to order drinks and we finally received them. After 15 minutes of waiting for our reserved table, I followed up with the hostess’ regarding the status of our table and received yet another rude response with a different story that the people at our table are just finishing dessert and they will come and get us as soon as possible. At 35 minutes past our reserved dining time, I followed up again with the very curt hostess staff and they said they would seat us momentarily. Well they finally seated us at a very tiny bar table with stools for dinner. I inquired as to why we were seated in the bar and the table is not large enough for four adults to eat dinner. They insisted this was a reserved dining table. This tiny bar table was the table me and my friends stood in front of the entire time we drank our cocktails and they did not order dessert but played on their laptop the entire time. My friends and I contemplated staying and we decided we could not eat at this tiny table which could not hold four plates and we had had enough of the poor service-related treatment from the staff at this restaurant. We decided to make an alternate reservation while seated at the Fox & The Knife tiny table. Upon leaving we told the hostess staff that we were very unhappy about their consistently rude treatment toward us and we had enough. It took leaving for the manager to run out to the street after us begging us to stay and that she would seat us at a real dining table. Guess what, too late! Why didn’t your staff treat us courteously and apologize for the delay? Why didn’t you seat us at our “real” reserved dining table to begin with? Honestly, this place is not a dinner place but a place you stop for a quick drink and an appetizer as the seating throughout the restaurant does not encourage a dining experience. I understand bars and restaurants are busy on a Saturday evening, however the staff at this establishment lacked very basic skills for the service industry such as friendliness and courteous behavior. My friends and I commented several times that we were surprised at the pure arrogance and rude behavior by each staff member at this restaurant. This was not a one-off rude encounter with a single employee. And it is because of this treatment from the entire staff that I will never return to this restaurant to try the food. I am lucky to have a plethora of amazing restaurants to patronize. Shame on you Fox & The Knife, you are not as cool or hip as you think. I hope your status of a Boston area “hit list” restaurant is removed as it takes more than picture perfect food to make a restaurant. My friends and I went to another restaurant and received very friendly and accommodating service and the food looked just as amazing and tasted wonderful. Thank you for reading.

Solid food, at the same time, not super impactful. Very good service. Waitress was very attentive. Broccoli Caesar - exactly what it sounds like. Could make this at home. Octopus - didn't need to be on the toast. The toast is very very nicely grilled. Eating them separately was enjoyable. Don't understand the purpose of the celery slices. Brussels - small. Kinda sweet and sour. Decent. Branzino - solid. Nicely fried. Looks huge but not that filling. Saus paring was great. Tanginess cuts through the grease from frying. Cake - a very very normal olive oil chocolate cake. Spongy/soft. Quite basic. But very solid.

Horrid service! After being treated rudely 4 of us were put at a small bar table 30 mins after our reservation time. I was kicked out of a bar seat by the bartender, apparently they rereeve bar seats but dont tell you that. This place needs to reconsider its approach to its patrons

We had a truly remarkable dinner last night on the expanded outdoor street seating in front of Fox and the Knife. Umbrellas and heaters made it a terrific socially distanced experience. The fried chili chickpeas and the Brussel sprouts were the stand out appetizers, but everything we had was great, and the cheese stuffed focaccia has to be experienced. Pasta-wise, my fiancée ordered the pappardelle and I ordered the tagliatelle Bolognese. Both of us thought our own dishes were better, so needless to say they both were fantastic picks. I ended up getting the “orange creamsicle” dessert, which is orange shaved ice over vanilla gelato, and like everything else we had, it was delicious. We are only in Boston for a day, and of course know of Karen from Top Chef, but I’m honestly a bit shocked this restaurant doesn’t have a higher rating. I’ve seen complaints about portion size and rude service, but frankly I could not have experienced more of the opposite. I left full and fulfilled and my fiancée couldn’t even finish hers. (If you want a pound of pasta per person, there’s always Olive Garden.) Similarly, our waitress was the nicest person we met in Boston. I already recommended this place to friends and family if ever they are in Boston and I high recommend it to you if you’re reading this.

Overall, food was solid but nothing that really wowed us especially at this price point. The good: Burrata -- highly recommend this dish. The fried scallions and walnut vinaigrette all come together very well. Shrimp pasta -- tasty but small portions. Olives and fries chickpeas -- fun to start with. The meh: Branzino -- didn't love this tbh. It was very fried and there wasn't enough of the green sauce to balance the dryness of the fish. Artichokes -- very much fried to the point that they taste like potato chips. Not what we were looking for/expecting.. Desserts were good and reasonably priced ($8 each or so). We had the olive oil chocolate cake and affogato w/ chai ice cream. Perfect way to end a meal that turned out saltier & more fried than we were expecting.

Everything we ate was absolutely delicious! We went for my husband’s birthday and they printed him a custom menu that said happy birthday with his name. The pasta was fresh and delicious, the pork Milanese was the best pork I have ever had. The olive oil cake was a great end to the meal. They make delicious mocktails also!

This place is fantastic and everything is delicious. Fox & Knife is a lively new spot in Southie serving light and tasty Italian cuisine. Everything in the menu is prepared to perfection and I would highly recommend the pesto pasta with pistachio. I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!

Delicious meal here last night! Our waiter, Matthew was super helpful in navigating the menu and making recommendations. For three people we had 2 pastas, the pork, 3 drinks, a dessert, bread and a salad. Each dish was more than enough to share between three of us.

This review is prefaced with the unfortunate angle that Google has no 1/2 stars so this is how I review: 1, why did I even feel the need to write this? - 2, You need to know something was wrong but something made up for it - 3, It was fine, not bad, but not great. That's definitely ok. - 4, I really liked it - this was solid and things rated like this should be "the" standard of service - 5, "Damn, am I in heaven? Who came up with this? Is there a deity behind the line?" First and foremost, the food was really great. I didn't have to change my pants or anything, but if i did, the Fern + Moss candles in the bathroom would've made that recovery delightful. First, Focaccia - that taleggio has just the right amount of salt married to warm crispy outside bread that was screaming if-i-made-you-a-pizza-i-could-die GOOD. I started noticing stark differences in how chef will integrate a really good olive oil and this was no exception - tasty, crunchy, cheesy - delicious. everything you want from a starter. Broccoli Caesar - why tf did I never think of this? the stem shavings alone add a texture to this that really amps the whole dish - very heavy on the citrus but looking to copy-cat it personally. The acidity was high though, so if you're not into tart or lemon, I would steer clear. Great crunch factor but not super dressy. I absolutely hate salads that are doused and limp and this really bolstered flavor and texture. I understand why people love it Tagliatelle Bolognese - Chef really demonstrates an wizardry of pasta with this dish. Unfortunatley, this was our "least favorite dish" out of a group of exceptional dishes. The boar was married to the noodles throughout - an absolute marvel of good pasta an d sauce , but...seasoning needed! I can't blame the protein as I've had boar in similar dishes before but it fell a bit short, sorry to say. I appreciated not over-saucing the dish but I think the lean-ness of the protein got the better of the end-result Milanese Di Maiale - Ok....not fair, you win Karen... I'm not quite sure how exactly they get that much flavor into such a thin breading but g*ddamn...I'm Polish...and I've been all over Germany as well but if I said that was the best breaded cutlet-of-whatever I've had, I could stand by saying that. Hard crisp outside, cool salad to meet that hot crisp - beautiful flavor melody that I'm thinking about a week later. Get this. For real. I usually dont go too far into desserts because its very subjective in that realm and honestly, adding sugar in layers like that isn't even fair. Service was top notch from the door to the table. I hate to call this out, but it was extremely odd to me (having several years behind the belt in service) that a server would be pulled whilst serving multiple tables. TBH it felt weird to be told multiple times that someone else would be finishing service bc "things were slow" when every table was filled? Outside of that, outstanding attention to every detail. It was clear that the staff was well-trained outside of what seemed to be a FOH anomaly. TLDR; Go here, eat bread and pasta, enjoy very italian drinks and leave happy. Highly recommend

What an incredible meal! We were visiting from LA and this was one of the restaurants we really wanted to try, and we are so glad we did. Without a doubt the best restaurant we went to on our trip! The drinks were impeccable. We got the Negroni Alla Fiori and the Bitter Manhattan. For starters, the Gnocco Fritto (with mortadella) and the Pomodor Insalata were absolutely delicious, and for pasta we got the Pepe e Cacio and Spaghetti Con Vongole. The pastas themselves had the perfect bite to them, just the way you'd expect hand made pastas to be. The Pepe e Cacio had such a unique flavor due to the use of pink peppercorns instead of black. It gave it less heat but such a beautiful, bright taste. The Spaghetti Con Vongole was just perfect. Another incredible part of the dinner was the Amaro cart. We wanted to get a custom Amaro flight and they wheeled over their Amaro cart with so many different options. Our waitress explained them to us based on our tastes and let us smell their aromas. She also offered us small tasters before we ordered the whole flight. The flight could be any number of Amari you wanted. If you're into the Amari, DEFINITELY try this out!

Easily the best meal we had over the course of our entire Boston trip, and honestly one of the best meals we had all year. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the restaurant interior is beautiful, and most importantly the food was fantastic. We had the fried chickpeas, bietola & burrata, panzanella, raviolo carbonara, and the fish with white beans. Everything was delicious, but especially recommend the bietola & burrata. As an added bonus, they have a really wide selection of different amaros and you can build your own flight! We're not super familiar with different amaros, but our waitress was so kind and helped build us each personal flights based on our tastes and sampling of the options. Really a unique and wonderful experience at Fox & The Knife and would urge anyone to head here for dinner!

We celebrated my birthday here last night and the food was fantastic! Every single item we ordered was delicious, and the bottle of wine we got (with helpful advice from our server) paired perfectly with them all. Eva, our waitress, was attentive, kind, and so nice! We loved this place and will definitely be back.

Pretty good Italian spot. I was seated at the bar for convenience and even though I arrived an hour before closing they ran out of several dishes that I wanted which was unfortunate. On top of that my food took a long time to arrive and I overheard the workers saying they were short staffed so that explains why but that was also unfortunate. For the food I got the focaccia which was pretty good - nice and cheesy in a light and airy pastry. I also got the broccoli Caesar which was decent - it tasted a bit weird but it was unique and because it was light it let me save room for my main. For my main I got the spaghetti with saffron since they were out of the pepe dish. This one was fine - didn’t think the flavor profile was anything special. I had to skip dessert since I wanted the struffoli but they ran out of that as well. Overall a decent spot but wish I had a better experience

It is truly a privilege to experience a meal here and the long wait for a reservation is not surprising in the least. My partner and I enjoyed a memorable and exquisite anniversary dinner paired with incredible drinks. Everything served was incredibly well-balanced in flavor and clearly made with quality ingredients, including cocktails featuring fresh herbs. It was absolutely delightful to dine here and we look forward to coming back to what might be our new favorite restaurant in Southie.

The dinner experience as a whole was great. We had the octopus crostini as an appetizer. It was done before I could take a picture of it. The salsa verde in the dish was excellent. Our two entrees were phenomenal, the bolognese was out of this world. Great flavor and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The ravioli was good. The runny yolk made the sauce come together. The dessert was scrumptious, the struffoli was definitely the best dessert we ordered. Can’t wait to come back to Boston and try this gem again

Food was delicious but I wouldn't return. They have a 90 minute limit on the table and they are very vocal about it. This totally killed my experience. They made an "exception" so we could order dessert but if we wanted another bottle of wine it had to be to go (??). To me dining out is an experience that shouldn't be stressed nor time capped.

Definitely worth a visit, the pasta was amaaazing. They don’t have a huge bar selection but what they do have is really good. 100% going back. Also our server Rosie was super lovely

This restaurant it's a nice place. Had a good experience there. I think you can't go wrong with any item on the menu at this point. Service is typically good. Prices were fair for the quality of the food. It was actually really good.

Oh so good. Food was fantastic and The training that the team has undergone is very evident. Ginny was so impressive as a server and if you are luck enough to get her, you are in luck! Wish we lived in town so we could frequent this awesome restaurant. Nice vibe and relaxed setting. This is a must if you are in Boston.

Excellent pasta, 90 minute table time was more than enough given COVID, server was very friendly! Our dishes were timed perfectly so we didn’t feel rushed Will be returning!

The best food I’ve eaten in 2020. I got takeout, the Rosemary Focaccia, Pepe E Cacio, and Bietola & Burrata. The pasta was so good, the chewy texture was on point; I’m definitely getting their fresh pasta now. The burrata had so much flavor and the focaccia exceeded my expectations. So excited to eat this food again, especially post pandemic.

The food was fantastic - the chicken was moist and flavorful, the bufala with greens was the perfect texture, and the spaghetti was very saffron-forward. But my favorite part was the escarole under the chicken. I like greens, but I didn’t know greens could be THAT good, it was so delicious. The only complaint I have is that the panzanella wasn’t moist enough, but if you like croutons you’ll enjoy it. Oh and the olive oil cake is heavy, so just be aware.

This was our second time coming since COVID hit. The staff has been wonderful each time, and they're very careful with appropriate social distancing procedures. We sat in the dining room instead of outdoors this time. They only seated two other tables while we were there, and folks were heavily spaced. We went for brunch, which is still somewhat experimental for the restaurant. I got "Eggs in Purgatory" which was basically an Italian-style Shakshouka. It was flavorful, well-balanced, and delicious. My only ask (and it's a small one) would be for there to be an additional egg in it. It had two, but could have used a third for additional fullness. My wife got the biscuit sandwich which was unreal. We posted a picture of it - it's a substantial portion, and the biscuit was light and flaky and the filling was perfect. We also had apps. You should always, ALWAYS get the fried Chickpeas. They're insanely good and inexpensive for how delicious they are. It's not filling, but it's straight up addictive. We split a burrata dish also, which was savory and fatty and rich and also wonderful. It was a highlight of the meal. We each had a cocktail, which complemented the meal well. And we split an Amaro, something that this restaurant knows and delivers on. Can't recommend highly enough finishing your meal with the bracing mix of bitter and sweet that Amaro brings to the table. We will be back!

Love the fact that there was hand sanitizer at each table! Our waitress wore her mask at all times. The weather was nice out so we were able to sit inside at the front by the open window. Loved it! The food was nice. We did a tapas style and tried several dishes and shared them. The decor is cute and stylish. The grapefruit mocktail was tasty. Not sugary. It was a great night catching up with a dear friend.

The food is definitely very good. Portions are small (especially since they stress “shareable plates”) and it’s on the expensive side. I was full at the end, but my husband was not. We spent about $200 with two glasses of wine each and dessert as well, so I felt we ordered enough dishes, they were just very small. My huge drawback was the waiter mentioning twice about the 90 minute limit, and there were a couple of empty tables when we left. The minute we were finished, he was on top of us removing plates to hurry the next dish out and also asked us to order everything at once for whole night when we sat down. It just wasn’t a very relaxed experience for the price point, which disappointed me, as we waited weeks for our reservation and drove an hour. We definitely felt hurried. But again, the food was delicious.

At 4pm they are open only for takeout. And there is no information about it.

This place is unquestionably one of the coolest restaurants in the region. Every time I come to this place I am absolutely happy. They maintain their very high level service and the highest level of dishes they serve. You definitely will enjoy this this restaurant. Very recommended.

Good food, however some of the dishes are very small portions for the price. I got the agnolotti for $24 and it came with 6 pieces of pasta. I called the restaurant and was told their dishes are “undersized because they are meant to be shared.”

We enjoyed our experience here so much, I already can’t wait to return. The food here was phenomenal as well as the service we received from the waitstaff and bartenders. Recommendations were spot on: the soups, pastas, and desserts were al unlike anything I’ve had elsewhere. The cocktail menu is also very diverse. A great place for visitors and locals. The price is justified by the quality of the food.

Totally lives up to the hype! Incredible, fresh, memorable traditional Italian. The apertivi (and, therefore, spritz!) selection is fantastic, and the frozen espresso martinis were like fancy coffee milkshakes. The fried mushrooms were juicy and crisp; the octopus on the crostini was tender; the raviolo was rich and comforting; and the Milanese was a showstopper with the perfect tangy salad to balance it out. The servers/staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Already excited to go back!

Had a great experience here. We had to wait for a couple seats to open up at the bar. My fiancé ordered a drink to sip on while waiting. After about 5-10 minutes the bartender actually noticed he wasn’t drinking it (because he didn’t really like it) and made him a different drink! That was incredibly thoughtful and perceptive of him, especially since it was so busy. All the dishes we had for dinner were outstanding. Plates are meant to share. We had the broccoli Caesar, tagliatelle, ravioli and pork Milanese. We weren’t in the mood for fish, but a popular item for many people around us was the branzino.

Best restaurant on Boston hands down! Try the broccoli salad you won't regret it! The service is great and the bathrooms were super clean which is rare in Boston.

This is my first review of an establishment with out ever having tried the food, which looks amazing by the way. Unfortunately the overall service by the staff ruined what could have been a lovely meal. As Seinfeld has beautifully stated "You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them." Our party of 4 arrived for our reservation and the host asked us to wait a few minutes until our table was ready. Then a member of our party went to the bar and was promptly scolded for sitting in an empty seat to order drinks. So they left the bar and returned to the group. We stood waiting for ~10 minutes before asking how long until the table is ready. They told us the other guests were just finishing up and to go order a drink. We attempted another drink order and this time the bartender had a slightly better attitude. The drinks were above average, but many name brand liquors were not an option. Bully Boy was the only recognizable Bourbon available. At the 30 min mark the two hostesses became curt when asked how much longer our wait would be. Then another group of 4 arrived, waited some time and were taken to a table. Shortly there after we were provided a hi top bar table with stools that would be a challenge to accommodate 4 entree plates and glassware. We discussed the snub and promptly booked another reservation ordered a Lyft and left the restaurant. We had an excellent meal at Cinquecento and I would also highly recommend Stillwater. Then the manager followed us out on to the street to ask how could they correct things and make us stay. At that point it was too late, but for their reference here are several ways they could make their guests comfortable during such a minor inconvenience. Keep the guests informed, such as I'm sorry for the long wait your table will be ready shortly or I'm sorry for the long wait we would like to buy you an appetizer when your table becomes available. They could have even bought the group a round of drinks or simply apologized, but nothing was done. Unfortunately waiting until a group has physically left the building is not the time to offer up a solution. We understand and sympathize with the owner, but eating at a restaurant is an experience where the guests want to be made to feel special. Sometimes the staff do not get that as they do not feel the pinch when guests leave!

Takeout during quarantine, so maybe that affected their food. It’s a limited menu so they’re probably cooking in bulk. All of it was pretty bland. When you consider the cost, there’s no chance I’d give them a second chance. Presumably the food is better in person based on these other reviews. Also worth noting the extremely small portions (not a problem this time, since I didn’t want to eat what I received).

Food, atmosphere, all around such a good meal. Everything we had was delicious, highly reccomend the burrata. Our server Kate and the hostess (I believe it was Alex) made it an even better experience. Its great when I can learn about the food and discover a new wine I love. We'll definitely be back.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston! The atmosphere is great - love sitting at the bar or by the front windows. The bartenders are so nice and helpful. Highly recommend the ricotta and chickpeas to start - we get them every time we go. Pasta dishes are small but very very good. Drinks are also great - the aperol spritz is extremely well done. Definitely make reservations in advance as it is always busy.

This was my first time here; it was recommended by a work colleague. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, we felt invited, valued and important. The menu had a specialized message for my mother (celebrating a birthday). The wait staff spent time talking with us about the wine and menu. And the food came out in the right time; giving us the space to eat and enjoy each dish. And as a side- the women’s restroom was supplied with everything you need to keep a date-night going. Loved everything about this place!!!

Service was great. Wish the pace of the dishes came out a bit slower. Once we ordered all but the entrees came out at once. LOVED the octopus antipasti. Pepe e cacio and the crispy pork milanese could have used more seasoning. I will be dreaming about the Tarragon Gimlet..overall soooo good.
