Happened to stumble across this place. Waited in line for almost an hour but I figured it had to be worth it if so many others were there too. Pizza was solid. I was surprised that a doughy looking square could melt in your mouth the way it did though. The sauce and side crust were amazing. I think what will bring me back is the Arancini. First time ever trying it and I was immediately hooked. Might be one of the best Italian foods I’ve tried since visiting Italy. That alone will drive me back here. Cash only but very affordable. Great date spot as you have time to talk while you wait!

Very authentic place in Boston, very very Italian. Great pizza and arancini. Crazy cheap. Nothing fancy. I fully recommend the place.

Some of the best pizza around. You can call ahead and order if there’s a big line. Their rice balls and potato rounds are also 10/10. Very affordable prices also

Great square Sicilian style pizza with tradition one of the oldest most iconic place in the hood. Go early because there is a line and the place works till 3 pm. The cheesy is chewy and flavorful with a robust cheese taste that is lasting and very full flavor . The dough is just right and crispy and the sauce tastes fresh made from real tomatoes. The rest of the stuff is also great the calzones the panini and all is wonderful.

While lost in Boston and starving with her school group of 35, we came upon this little pizza shop and are so glad we did. The owner, very friendly guy welcomed us and immediately got to work serving us cheese pizza. There is plenty of room to sit, it was a neat, clean, uncluttered environment. The pizza crust was amazing! The sauce was obviously homemade. He was extraordinarily patient with our large group of rambunctious, hungry children. We would absolutely go back.

I hadn't been here for many years but I remembered how good the pizza was - I was on a work trip just outside of Boston and made a trip into the city and made sure to stop here. Still delicious! The men behind the counter were really nice - people coming in knew them by name and were asking about their families. I got in right before the line started getting long but the line seemed to be moving quickly.

This place is a classic. The pizza is exactly what you’d expect. The arancini was probably the best I have ever had and was deliciously crispy on the outside.

One of the most authentic Italian pizzerias in little Italy. So fresh that they have to close when they run out of product. The pizza was extra cheesy and thick square slices. Very cheap and not busy when we visited

So happy I was able to stop by Galleria Umberto! It is cash only and the food is very reasonably priced. The arancini was $4.50 and the panzarotti was $2.50. The pizza is also very good and keeps well for leftovers too. My favorite was the arancini and will definitely be coming back here when I have the chance

I'm a Boston local but somehow I've never been to Umberto's. I regret having waited this long to try their excellent pizza! The crust is not too thick, and has has a crispy bottom. The sauce is flavorful, you can taste the spices, without being too salty. The cheese is thick and has good pull, and is also flavorful without being too salty. The fried items have a crispy, crunchy, not stale, outer shell with soft ingredients on the inside such as potato or rice/cheese. Lastly, the food here is actually a great value! Who would have thought for the North End in Boston? Definitely recommended.

Umberto is definitely not a fancy place, but it is a great place for a quick, inexpensive, but very tasty lunch. The choice is a well above average square cheese pizza slice served from large pans brought directly from the pizza oven frequently. The long lines at lunch attest to both excellent pizza and economical lunch. I believe it's cash only, but very worth trying.

The pizza was sooooo delicious, thick and fluffy at the same time! Tomato sauce tasted great and the cheese ratio was perfect. I have never had a Sicilian slice like that, I regret not buying more, especially for the price, only 2.25 per slice. The panzerotti filled with potato and mozzarella were stellar! The place is simple not necessary the cleanest but honestly I don’t think it matters, the food was delicious and affordable to care. The food looked to good that I forgot to take a picture before eating it….

some of the best pizza .. since the 1960s.... when I do not recall exactly...

Best Sicilian pizza I've had! Perfect sauce to cheese ratio and so fresh! Also get the panzarotti which is a fried potato stick filled with cheese. Also you should get an arancini which is a rice ball filled with a beef filling. Make sure to bring cash as it's cash only.

Really enjoyed this for lunch today… sadly they were out of pizzette which I was really excited to try. The other food was amazing. The Arancino’s were amazing, with a lot of flavour throughout. The pizza was very tasty nice bread and a healthy amount of cheese and sauce. The panzarotti was very nice. Quite similar to a potato croquette. The calzone was good but felt it needed something else to fill it out. Overall enjoyed the food. May try to come back again to get the pizzette which I wanted to try. Overall very nice Sicilian food. Viva Italia 🇮🇹

Galleria Umberto is a must-visit for anyone who loves pizza! The crust is perfectly baked, the sauce is flavorful, and the cheese is delicious. The atmosphere is casual and cozy. Service is quick and efficient, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Galleria Umberto for anyone looking for authentic and delicious pizza in a no-frills setting.

While in Boston my friends wanted to try out Joe's pizza since they heard it was amazing! When we got there, there was a line out the door which seemed promising! After about 45 minutes we finally got to the front and I was excited to try this popular pizza. I got a calzone and a slice of their cheese pizza. I was so disappointed after my first bite. The cheese pizza was okay, nothing special about it. It reminds you of a slightly better quality cafeteria pizza. The spinach cheese and sausage calzone was not very good. The inside was plenty filled with everything but cheese. Also without marinara to dip it in, this was by far one of the hardest thing to get down. Overall, the place is not very good. However for it's price point it is what you paid for. If you end up going, avoid the calzone unless you like a cheese less calzone.

Nice crispy edge (and base) pizza squares with hot out of the oven Arancini and Panzarotti! There is a quaint aspect to the location, reminiscent of an old dinning hall in a firehouse. With old rustic boards of older days - not the flashy glamorous look that can be overly saturated the mental psyche. The silverware could be improved, but hey, if that is all we have to complain about, it isn’t much at all. Excessively busy from before It open until it opening - the line stayed all the way out the door the whole time we waited.

Great old school-no frills institution. Sicilian square for $2, cheese only-no pepperoni? Crispy, hot Arancini $4. Cash only.

Had 1 of just about everything last visit! The consistent quality they put out is amazing. No wonder there is always a line! Super hardworking and patient workers behind the counter! Made from scratch too! Wow!

Amazing Sicilian pizza. The sauce was chunky, the cheese was thick, and the ends were perfectly crisped.

Arancini stole the show, but this is hands down my favorite pizza in Boston. It's a must have when you're in north end.

This pizza place rivals all pizzas. The prices are absolutely amazing considering how great the food is. Be ready to order, togo/dine in and your order. The line can be long but as long as you are ready it can go by quickly. opens at 10:45am. $2 slices of pizza! 3 of us ate for under $20 and left full :) love this place. I cannot wait to travel back!!
