Ernesto's is a small, family-owned pizzeria located in the North End of Boston. It has been serving up delicious pizza since 1968. The pizzeria is known for its huge, thin-crust slices, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I recently visited Ernesto's and had two slices of the ricotta and sausage pizza. The pizza was absolutely delicious! The crust was crispy and chewy, and the toppings were flavorful and portion generous - Each slice of 1/4th of a pizza. I paired a Sam Adams Boston Lager with my pizza, for the full Boston experience. We ate our pizza at a table on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, which offered a million-dollar view of the Boston skyline. It was the perfect way to enjoy a delicious pizza and a beautiful day in Boston. Overall, I had a great experience at Ernesto's pizza. The pizza was delicious, the location was amazing and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend Ernesto's to anyone looking for a great pizza in Boston.

Fast service, solid pizza not too thin not too thick. A bit salty. 🍕BIG slices! Like 1 slice is twice the size of what you’d normally get elsewhere. Classic and more creative options available. The sausage and ricotta we got was excellent. You can seat inside if you are lucky but be ready to be crammed. Bathrooms available in the basement. Highly recommended!

Phenomenal pizza. I don't have much else to say, it's just damn good pizza. The slices are huge and all the flavor is there. The crust is perfectly cooked too. Make sure to double check the prices when they charge you. I believe they overcharged us for the pizza we got.

The search stops here! Of all North end pizzerias, Ernesto's is by far my favorite! Any time I bring it to parties (which is very often) people go crazy for it and it's gone before anything else. Their pizzas are huge and oh so yummy. This is my favorite NY style pizza in Boston, no question. The dough is sturdy, airy and well seasoned. The sauce is simple but very well balanced. The people working here are lovely and always spoil me with a couple extra "red gravy" on the side. I love that they have jalapeno for a topping and these babies aren't messing around! Don't skip this gem- but careful cuz you'll be hooked.

I suppose I’m in the minority but although this pizza looked and smelled great; it just had no taste. We tried a few different slices too. Maybe it’s just me. First timers be prepared that “1 slice” means 2. Good value though and they are nice people with wide selection. Bathroom is down a 100 yr old stairway and are old but clean.

Very BIG slices. Really two slices, no joke. I thought he made a mistake. Very reasonable prices for the gigantic portion. Slightly thicker dough but not thick. Crispy after being thrown back into the oven. Highly recommend

I had heard a lot of hype about this place but I was skeptical because I’ve been generally pretty disappointed by Boston’s pizza scene. But Ernesto’s is the real deal - this is the best slice that I’ve had in Boston, without doubt. The slices are enormous: when I got my order, I thought they had mistakenly given me two, and a few minutes later, I watched another customer have the same reaction. The image here is what you get if you order one slice. Plenty of choices for a slice, including some creative options. I got the fried eggplant & ricotta slice, and it was fantastic. Great browning on the bottom, flavorful crust, and toppings were crispy but not dry. All around excellent. This is the only pizza in Boston I would go out of my way for. 9.5/10. I will definitely be back.

A small but nice place with friendly staff. Pizza is delicious. I tried the sausage and ricotta pizza and the flavor was great, although a little oily. It’s a place I would come back to get another slice if I’m at North end Boston. The slices are indeed big (like two slices of a regular) but not the biggest in Boston as announced in their publicity.

What a pizza! We ordered a whole pie for our group. Didn't take long for the steaming hot treat to arrive. Fold in half to hold that gooeey cheese and toppings while you bite through that crispy crust..my mouth is watering just thinking about it again. The guys in there were very polite attentive and friendly. Thanks for the great moment.

Great spot to grab a couple slices of great pizza. - - - - - Came here on a Thursday night for quick slice. Grabbed one slice (which is really the size of two) pepperoni. I'm super easy when it comes to pizza, and these did not disappoint. Pepperoni was nice and crispy, almost burnt, exactly how it should be. The pizza was on the cheesy/doughy side, so I'll knock the food down a star for that. If that's not your thing either head elsewhere or ask them to bake for just a minute longer, which I probably should've done. The one (very large) slice plus a can of soda came to just under $10. I've no clue how that compares to other nearby places, but it felt in line (maybe a bit more?) with what I've seen elsewhere in the area/Boston. The interior was exactly what you'd expect for a pizza place in the North End: minimal. A few tables and chairs, no frills. But it doesn't need any. There's not much decoration on their walls, but I didn't these framed awards/"best-reviewed" signs from 2008 and 2006, which I found funny. I guess they've been making great pizza for at least that long!

Was looking for a pizza place in North End with no wait, and came upon this place. The place was small, but there were good number of seats available inside. I went for the cheeseburger pizza, and the slightly melted American cheese on top really added some extra flavors that you wouldn’t typically find on pizza. Not the cheapest pizza for the quality, but it was still worth digging in. They may not be as good as some of the well known pizza places in North End, but they are still a solid choice for a quick bite in North End.

Place is a hidden gem. Top notch pizza for a great price. Sixteen bucks for an 18 inch pie. You can dine in but it’s pretty small. A bit of a sub shop feel. Recommend grabbing it to go. We placed an order, took a 20 min walk around the north end, grabbed a bottle of red, and took it home. A+ experience

Almost all pizza in New England is terrible. Ernesto's is the rare exception. Even before COVID there was no room inside, so get in line, see what's in the case, order, pay, then stand aside. This isn't a place for gawking. You'll be rewarded with the best slice in Boston. Like real pizza places, each "slice" is a ¼ of a pie. But the crust is crisp and delicious, the sauce spectacular, and the toppings perfect. It's worth the walk and the wait.

"Pie by the slice" means 1/4 pizza. Had a couple bets and a couple slices (1/2 pizza) of pizza each nice thin New York style but with a crispy crust. Meats on the pies they had were sausage, pepperoni, or chicken. In addition to the shredded mozzarella they had ricotta. The had a veggie pie and broccoli chicken pie. They had a plain pepperoni and plain cheese. The guys there were very helpful and nice. Asked him to hold open a tab and gave him my card and he said no just pay me later.

Massive slices. Not exactly cheap but you don’t have to sit down and wait for service. Just order at the counter and fill your own drink. No frills, don’t expect any service as well. In the ultra touristy north end area. Good for one person.

While in Boston I went to have lunch at Ernesto's 2 out of 3 afternoons. The service was very kind and I appreciate them adding my weird toppings to my slice each time as it was not one of their usuals. The pizza is absolutely delicious. Try them out.

You literally cannot go wrong with a pizza slice 1/4 the size of a whole pizza and a glass of wine for $13.95 in Boston’s north end! This place is so good, I’ve been multiple times and never disappointed. They always have about 12-16 different flavors ready to go! You can take it to go or they do have about 7 tables but if you catch them on a weekend you’re unlikely to have a place to sit! Check them out!

Amazing pizza! If you are looking for incredible pizza this is the place! We got individual slices (which are actually 2 slices) chicken bacon ranch, cheese, BBQ chicken, and ricotta sausage and they were all incredible. We sat at a table inside and the line didn't stop. We will definitely go back!

Pizza was super yummy and tasty. One slice here is 2 slices at normal places! It's a great portion for right buck! I tried barbecue chicken and sausage pepperoni pizza. Two slices filled me up so fast! The barbecue chicken pizza was true winner for me! It had great balance of barbecue, chicken, amd cheese. There is a few seats inside. You defiantly can take slice on the go amd sit in the park nearby. I will defiantly come back to try other kinds!! It was too good. I defiantly recommend everyone to tey it once.

Got the eggplant parm pizza for pickup and really liked it. I'd say it has the right mix of sauce cheese and dough but the crust was a bit too thick for me. Loved the taste and the crispness of the dough. The inside is a bit small with a few tables so it's probably easier to pickup and eat outside at the park or elsewhere

Ordered 1 slice of pepperoni and 1 slice of cheese, got 2 pretty good size pieces of each with the order. Good amount of food for the money! Wasn’t my favorite pizza, VERY greasy, pretty crisp crust, nice crisp pepperonis.

Pizza is delicious!! If you are in the North End area, you must stop at Ernesto's and grab a bite. We went on our first day and Boston and couldn't leave without stopping by in the way to the airport. Try the chicken ranch and bacon. Oh my gosh, awesome!! BBQ chicken and pepperoni chicken and ricotta are excellent choices as well.

I've been to Ernesto's more than a dozen times since I moved to the neighborhood. Every time has been consistently top notch. They always have a wide variety of pizza slices, and they're all good. The crust is consistently excellent. Thanks for being such a great slice shop!

I, literally, have never had a worse slice of pizza before that, and never knew that pizza can actually taste that bad. It was a slice of Buffalo chicken, $7, and the whole thing tasted like a burnt crust. Not even weed made it taste good. So disappointing 😔

  • 5/5 Christopher R. 2 years ago on Google
Ernesto's pizza by the slice is a really solid pizza. I loved the Margherita pizza and the crust was really nice. It tastes like they cook them over charcoal or something similar as there was a charred taste but in a good way. I'd also tried the original Regina Pizza's original location on my trip to Boston but it was really disappointing. This was a cheaper, more chill experience and most importantly with better pizza.
