Sarma is on my must-go restaurant list, but we couldn't get a table before our visit. Luckily, we arrived at about 5:15pm on a Saturday and were able to get 2 bar seatings. The line was super long after 5:30pm and we believe the wait would be bad. The ambiance of Sarma is pretty exotic and cozy with brilliant Turkish decoration & authentic furniture. The staff was super friendly, welcoming and we can felt their passion about their dishes. The options on the menu were various, serving in small plates to share and we will suggest 2-3 dishes each person. We had their Black Sea Cornbread, Ali Nazik, Brussels Sprouts Bravas and Crab Moussaka to share with 2 people. Everything is amazingly delicious even though the flavor of our dishes were a little off-balanced and too heavy. Our favorite was the cornbread and it's the best cornbread we have ever had. It was appetizing and great with moist & soft texture.

Such an amazing experience. Truly one of a kind dishes. We ordered the mushroom pasta, the tomato feta pasta, the pumpkin fritters and the lentil nachos. They were small plate style and all were fantastic. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Boston area!!

Best Greek food my wife and I have tried in a while. It's served tapas style, which means small servings, so it can be a bit pricey, but the taste and presentation make up for it. I say get two and a half dishes per head. The staff members are knowledgeable about the menu. Let them know about your preferences and ask for recommendations! They also serve an off menu sesame fried chicken with remoulade sauce that's cooked to perfection. You will have to time your arrival fairly early to even get a shot at ordering this as it's served in limited quantities. The only thing was the food did take a little while to arrive - about a 30-minute wait for the last 2 dishes. Overall, it was a good experience and I can't wait to be back.

I like this place. It has nice small portions of food. Everything looks cute. You have to make a reservation if you want to have a table otherwise, the only option will be to be seated at the bar. The place is small by itself too. My friend and I ordered several dishes to share and everything tasted great. My favorite was dessert. We ordered donuts and picked two toppings, OMG those donuts were delicious! I highly recommend this place, they serve food in a very beautiful way and their drinks look great. The only problem is parking. There is no parking. You need to drive around and search for a parking space, other than that everything is great!

One of those places known for their creative dishes where textures & flavors are used to create a delightful dining experience. The harissa BBQ duck, black sea cornbread, brisket shaworma, & the pumpkin fritter are some of the dishes I enjoyed at Sarma. I came here a couple of times and it’s always fun to try a new dish 🤤 Great service & lovely ambiance both indoors & outdoors 💫

We came with high expectations because we loved every dish we ordered at their sister restaurant Oleana. However, we left disappointed. We ordered 6 dishes based on our waitress’ recommendations but we found half of those dishes so heavily spiced that it was challenging to taste the flavors of the food ingredients themselves. Besides the food, their service was excellent and the ambience was warm and relaxed.

Mediterranean inspired creative and tasty menu offerings, but service needs improvement. As often acclaimed as one of the best Mediterranean restaurant in the area, this place has been in my wishlist for a quite a long time, and I was thrilled to finally make the visit. However, despite making the reservation in advance, we got the worst seat possible which was right next to the welcoming counter. There were other empty tables with less heavy foot traffic but the staffs were not hesitant to give us the table anyway. In terms of the food, rather than overwhelming everything with cilantro and other common Mediterranean spices, they made a good balance between all the ingredients and the seasoning. Standout dishes include harissa bbq duck, seven layered baked hummus, and Brussel sprouts bravos with chorizo. Duck was extremely tender and its interplay with sweet orange blossom was truly enlightening. The hummus also had interesting layers of ingredients on top, and its combination with falafel seasame crackers was very satisfying. The service, however, was a huge disappointment. Pace of service could be improved as they brought every plate one by one with five minutes interval. It would’ve been much better if they brought them out in small groups, but their kitchen seemed to send the plates away whenever they want. Implementation of offering their specials was also disappointing as they were bringing around plates of pre-made chicken and asking each table if they want them for extra which seemed tacky even for a casual restaurant.

Delightful! We came here WITHOUT a reservation on a Sunday which I don’t recommend but it worked out for us (2 people). The cornbread was UNBELIEVABLE. Please order that. We also got the artichokes, avocado and eggplant tacos. All brilliant. I also had the beet cocktail which was like a bright but tasty salad. 10/10 will be back

This is my second time at this restaurant. I had gone their 1.5 year back when they had their tasting menu and had loved it. We wanted to go back again but found out they don’t server tasting menus any longer. However lot of items seemed familiar and we went ahead. There’s nothing on the menu that I don’t like. Best restaurant so far in Massachusetts. Things to try: Cornbread Barbecue duck Fritters In any case, try everything and you will like it all.

I had been wanting to go here for a while and was finally able to get a reservation. Had a lot of vegan options and they were very helpful in pointing them out on the menu. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. Highly recommend the maitake mushrooms! From the drinks to the food to the dessert, everything lived up to the hype!

One of my favorite restaurants I've visited! Sitting at the bar was a lot of fun because you could see all the sous chef's preparing the courses. Also, they came around with evening special (small plates) that you could add to your meal and that is such a great idea. I wish I lived closer, because this would be a regular place for me!

Drinks, Food, Service 15/10. Everyone who worked here was exceptionally kind and attentive. We kept looking around trying to figure out if anyone else was having the same kind of existential crisis we were bc of how incredible the food was. We were possibly floating outside of our bodies but we only has one drink each so it was definitely the food.

Visiting Boston and had the course dinner. Being new to the city, we ran late but the staff were very understanding. The food at Sarma was something new for us. Portion size was plenty, service was great. The favorite was the cornbread. A little pricey (they were only offering course dinners at the time), but quite reasonable for what you get.

Delicious everything. Small plates and medium plates. Lots of tasty and unique offerings on menu as well as some off menu passed dishes. The fried chicken with tahini is light and crisp and full of flavour. Cocktails are excellent. You have to go regularly and often to try all the tasty things on the menu.

Possibly the best restaurant in all of Massachusetts! We are moving out of Boston and it was an easy choice to pick Sarma for our final outing. Each small plate is overloaded with flavors that will blow your mind. It's difficult to order even a mediocre dish at Sarma! Highly recommend! Book well in advance or arrive a bit before their dinner hours to grab a walk in spot!

This place was on my list for so long, happy I tried the food. The place itself is beautiful, open and it makes you feel part of the whole experience. I was there only for the food and walk out with my tongue feeling a million sensation, honestly I was upset I didn’t have room for more . Chefs need to go here, couples and anyone that want to try good food. The server was fantastic and she knows her craft very well , bravo. I admire her ink work as well, snake 🐍 on her left hand I think. I would easily recommend this place to anyone that want to eat, try and be open minded to the great combo of flavors. Hope to visit soon and try that Ribeye and another 15 things or so. Best luck to you , keep cooking, inspiring, and having fun with great food.

A cozy yet busy atmosphere. More spacious on the inside with just the right lighting and you could still hear each other across the table for conversation with the restaurant being full. The table staff were attentive and our first food orders came out quickly and the other selections were timed appropriately. We chose so many items but my favorite must have been the venison wrapped dates. A wide variety of signature cocktails that were all amazing. Luckily with six of us each ordering at least two drinks and each one of different kind we all get the sample of very wide variety of them. We definitely be using this as a go-to place. Reservations are definitely advised (open n to take reservations a month in advance - it'll be full two days later).

I just have to say, this place is outstanding. Staff is very kind and delighted, very smiling 😅. Food is very good, plates usually say on the menu small plates, but they are very generous. For a normal couple 3 plates maximum 4 is enough. Don’t go away without try the cornbread, and if you get lucky the chef’s fry Chicken special is unbelievable. Highly recommend this place.

Absolutely a restaurant worth trying and one of the more creative restaurants in Boston. I’m taking off one star because not every plate hit the mark, but the service and ambiance most certainly did! We started with the avocado muhammara and pita bread, which was definitely good but very rich with the addition of crispy pistachios in oil, onions, and burrata on top. The sweet potato ceviche was also an interesting take on a fish-less ceviche with bright notes of lime juice and spice. I didn’t think the fried sesame chicken “special” was worth the hype…just ok! While every dish was a flavor bomb, the dishes that really stood out were the sword fish with a base of corn polenta and other toppings, the tempura squid with a red mezze spread as a base, and the fennel salad with a base of marinated soft eggplant chunks. Overall, in addition to not all dishes hitting “excellent” status, I found that the meal sat somewhat heavy in the stomach due to liberal use of oil and deep frying, which could have been reduced a bit more for my taste. Dessert menu was also very heavy when I was craving something light and refreshing. Overall though, it’s worth a try and I would come back!

Sarma was 100% worth the hype! Every search of "must-try restaurants in Boston" brought up Sarma, so I knew I had to go. Luckily, I was able to find a reservation for the next day as a party of one. For bigger parties, you'll have to book further in advance. I recommend setting up alerts on Resy. There is street parking, but it is quite sparse as most of them are taken up by residents. You also get a text with parking tips closer to your reservation time. The place is pretty spacious, with both bar seating and tables. The decor matches the middle eastern/Mediterranean vibe. Onto the food! I ordered everything that my server recommended: black sea cornbread, pork belly biscuits, lamb kofte sliders, and ricotta loukamades. Of course, I also had to get the off-menu fried chicken, which pops up the most in reviews. My favorites were the black sea cornbread and fried chicken. The cornbread was addictively good: fluffy on the inside but a nice crisp on the outside and had a kick but was delicately sweet. For the fried chicken, you have to wait for servers to come around and offer it to your table. Unfortunately, it came toward the end of my meal, and I tried to save room for it, but it took quite a while. I recommend having a stronger will than me because it definitely tastes better fresh than as reheated leftovers, especially the sauce. Everything else was good but not things that I would get again. There is so much more on the menu that I want to try, so I will definitely be back!

The menu is extensive but delicious! Every dish we ordered was on point. Hot when it needed to be, cold when it needed to be and nothing in between. Flavors were defined and there was no lack of seasoning. Cocktails were good albeit pricey. Only negatives would be that no one explained the dishes when they delivered it, so we were left to question what everything was. And the noise level was quite high, had to yell across the table to one another. Overall absolutely delicious, and would come back again when in town. Bring your friends!

Wow, just wow. This place is just amazing. Probably one of the best meals I've had. The server suggested we get about 3 plates per person and we probably should have listened to her because we were stuffed but we like to eat and try new things. We ended up ordering 11 plates: Black Sea Cornbread, Mushroom Manti, Tomato Fig Salad, Fluke Sarma, Ali Nazik, Greek Pimento Cheese, Basturma Fried Rice, Brussel Sprout Bravas, Pork Belly Biscuits, Golden Beets, and Piri Piri Octopus. My personal top 3 were the Mushroom Manti (so comforting and flavorful; I would have eaten a gallon of this), Black Sea Cornbread (I'm not the biggest cornbread fan but this was the most delicious Cornbread I've ever had. It was so moist and had a perfect mix of salty from the feta and sweet from the wild honey), and the Golden Beets (the flavors built with the spices was a perfect compliment to the refreshing Golden Beets). For my drink, I ordered the Oxen of the Sun but tried a sip of Wallace goes to Sweden. Both drinks were extremely refreshing and paired very nicely with our meals. Lastly, our server Cynthia was very quick and attentive to our table. I will definitely come back whenever I'm in town.

The hype is real for once. Hands down best meal in Cambridge, possibly even greater Boston. I’m a solid omnivore, but the veggie menu is just as good as the regular one. Standouts include the cornbread (duh), turnip squares, snap peas, shrimp and grits.

  • 5/5 JuliAnne D. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing small plates with fantastic flavor combinations, tempting textures, and amazing atmosphere! Among the standouts: Charred Avocado with Tabouleh; Golden Beets; Tomato and Fig Salad; Black Sea Cornbread (photo...more like a custard); Harissa Duck; and the Fried Chicken dish that wasn't on the menu but was brought around and offered to diners. Desserts were all spectacular; ordering of each for the table to enjoy!

Plates are small but very rich and filling. The flavors are unique blend and definitely worth going to. It's a sister restaurant to oleana. All the dishes were amazing and would definitely visit again

Dougie behind the bar is FANTASTIC. Really knew his stuff and was just a great person to interact with. The lamb sliders were so freaking good and the cornbread was also delicious (definitely order it at the end as a dessert, it's filling and sweet!) The eggplant tantuni is to DIE for. So yummy! I also loved the fact that they had an option where a server will walk around with a preplated dish and ask if you want to add it to your meal. It felt like a dim sum cart! I did have 2 negatives for the place. 1. The plating isn't that great for the quality/class of the restaurant. 2. While it is "tapas" style the food is filling and so you don't need 2 to 3 dishes per person as suggested. It's more like 1.5. Great great spot - we'll certainly be back! I can understand why it's one of the hardest tables to get in Boston

If you like to try unique plates, this place is for you. Almost hard to decide choose what to order because everything sounded so delicious. We loved the cornbread, brisket shawarma, and the lentil nachos! Great selection of NA cocktails, too 😌

This was a new twist on small plates. These dishes were very delicious and full of flavors. We got the Banana Semifredo for dessert and it was chocolatey and sweet. Overall it was a great experience for being my first time dining here.

Flavour packed dishes that are unique and delicious. Drinks were very well made. The cauliflower fatteh was very good with the cilantro mint sauce. And also tried the feta cheese gnocchi which came with pistachio cilantro sauce. Good place to hang out with friends and share dishes in the small plate style service.

Such a good experience. The food came a great pace. The waiter Jonathan was great but everyone is helping you and delivering food. We did the dinner tasting. The corn bread was my favorite, that with fried chicken and the snap peas. Had a few drinks too, the vielfileder, or something like that, small but delicious

I have to start by saying the Haloumi Cheese was life!!! It's one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life and I could have had that and more of that and would have been happy!!! This place was phenomenal. The drink I got was beautiful! I told them that I couldn't have onions, so they went through the menu and marked off all the items that had onions in them. It left little for me to choose from, but that's on me. They went above and beyond to help me and I've never experienced something like that before. I got the Ricotta Spanakopita, which was too spicy and flaky for me personally, but the flavors would absolutely work for someone else. Again, the Haloumi Cheese was so amazing. My fiance got the Mushroom Manti and loved it. The parking situation was tough. We had to walk a bit to get there, but if that's my only complaint, it's a minor one.

  • 5/5 Michael D. 1 year ago on Google
A+ experience all around from the food to the drink selection. The food is hearty and filling with a spice selection that uniquely flavors each dish in a way that i haven’t experienced before. The lentil nachos were far and away the best nachos ive had as a vegan. The vegan menu is very cool because it makes selecting what i want to eat very easy. Staff is really friendly & attentive. My water never made it to even 1/2 way full before someone came to refill it.
