Used to absolutely love the in-person experience here (omakase was amazing), but unfortunately the to-go experience is not nearly as good. The food just isn't the same, which makes sense with sushi because of the travel time. It's very frustrating that they are still only open to-go at this point in time. It's time to open back up, guys.

On my trip to Boston I started to crave sushi- go figure ;). I was staying by Harvard and so I Googled sushi places and Cafe Sushi came up. It had pretty decent reviews so I decided to take a walk around campus and stop by for lunch. The restaurant was a little ways off campus but overall not a far walk. It is on a fairly busy street with easy access but I didn't see much parking besides on the street. Anyway I was hoping to sit down to eat but the restaurant at the time was take out only. Not a big deal but if you are looking for a sit down place this is not an option. Things are constantly changing so as of this writing they may have reopened to dining in so I'd call ahead just in case. Anyway, ordering can be done online or at the window. I ordered and paid at the upstairs window and proceeded to wait. This is the same area all online orders are to be picked up too. It took about 15 minutes for them to make my lunch and I then proceeded to head back to my hotel. The chirashi bowl I got for lunch was great. It had a decent amount of fresh fish and pickled sides. There was a fair amount of rice that really made it filling. The Wasabi they included with the meal was also very hot and flavorful. There were a lot of other standard items on the lunch menu but I always go for the chirashi bowl. If you are looking for good sushi at a reasonable price I definitely recommend Cafe Sushi if you are in the area.

Used to be my favorite place in Cambridge for sushi - updating the review though because that was based on their in person experience. They are still to-go only as of April 2022, and unfortunately it isn’t the same as it used to be. The quality of their to go orders doesn’t compare to the omakase experience they used to have in person. It certainly isn’t bad, but what you get for the price isn’t near the experience level that the non-to-go used to be

Cafe Sushi 🍣 never disappoints!!! It’s my #1 pick for weekend to-go dinner! My favorite is the Salmon sushi and Chirashi bowls! ❤️ the miso soup too!

So we normally LOVE cafe sushi and they have been my favorite spot for years,l. But the last time we ordered from here all of our sushi rolls had wayyy too much rice. It was really disappointing because they are normally so good so hoping it was a one time fluke.

Great sushi for the price. Went here because my neighbor raved about this place. The ssamjang was an interesting sauce, but some of my friends that like ssamjang did not like it on sushi. I would go again and pick up is easy. Accommodated an octopus allergy. Not the best sushi in Boston but best sushi for the price in Boston while maintaining quality and standards.

Really a masterpiece sushi place! Too bad that they have such a small and noisy place that they can’t accommodate more customers. We had a reservations so we were seated right away. We ordered sashimi, sushi rolls and salmon ikura/abiding. Everything was fresh and tasty. Their service is fast and attentive. We would definitely go there a second time.

Affordable omakase style sushi place that adeptly incorporates unique flavor upgrades into sushi with small toppings. Interesting textural revelation coming from the toppings upgraded the overall experience and the ratio of between rice and fish was perfect. Only thing that needed a little improvement was the temperature of the sushi rice - rice was a bit colder than I hoped it to be.

Love this place! Super friendly service. I got the salmon sushi box for lunch and it might have been the best sushi I’ve ever had. Very fresh and almost buttery soft - it was great for the quantity and price. I can’t wait to return!

I have been going to Cafe Sushi since Seizi took over as chef about 15 years ago. I moved away and came back to visit and eat here, and it is still my favorite sushi I've ever had. I ordered and ate in the window with a bottle of sake and it was so fresh and perfect. The new little market they've added recently is beautiful and worth visiting. This place is such a hidden jewel.

Love this place!!! Great selections of seasonal fish. Taste divine when combined with the perfect touch from Chef Seiji. Ask for Omakase. You can do 40$, 60$ or whatever price of choice and Chef will create a special compilation for you. It used to be a hidden gem but lately has been in the spotlight and got the attention and accolades they are well deserved.

After slow service at the start, the sushi started appearing and it was most excellent. It’s better to order off the chef special menu than the standard sushi menu even though the latter are quite excellent. Noisy as other reviewers have noted. Updated: went back a second time. Service was excellent. Sushi was excellent. Hauntingly good in fact. This is now the go to for sushi for me.

We got takeout. It was decent sushi. I liked how everything was well labeled. The sushi rolls seemed very rice heavy. It costs more to get extra ginger. I would order from here again but would also check out other places.

To go sushi. Very nice employees, but sushi I thought was okay. Most rice heavy sushi I have ever eaten. Salmon tasted fresh. Not sure I would return, but its a good option if you are near and need something quick. I enjoyed it with my red wine. Cheers!

Great sushi restaurant next to my apartment. They offer weekday sushi combo for two as a take out option. The fish was very fresh and it’s a good deal! Can’t wait to seat down next time to enjoy! Probably one of the best sushi restaurants in town!

My absolute favorite place for sushi! Their quality and choice of fish is top notch. I enjoy every thing I get but especially the signature sampler. Love their selection of sodas as well.
