All the food was excellent. Top notch actually. My only knock is the portion sizes were extremely underwhelming for the price. Never want to pay a bill that high and leave feeling like you need more food.

When it comes to Italian food, I become very picky because I am half Italian. Actually I’m not. But I say so because I love the Italian cuisine. Giulia has become one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Boston/Cambridge since last weekend. We had chicken liver crostini with green tomato marmellata to start that we enjoyed very much. The liver flavor was mild enough for people who were not fond of it, and also good enough for people who enjoyed its usual pungent flavor. Beautifully married with marmellata. Our next dish, salt roasted beets with spiced labne, sesame and pea greens was delightful. Vegetables were well cooked, not hard, not soft but good enough to enjoy the texture and flavor embedded with delicious sauce. The anolini ‘in brood’ was a hit. I loved generous portion of black truffle and the depth and multiple layers of its flavor. I’m getting this for sure next time! We also had branzino with Macomber, radicchio, lentils and citrus. The branzino was grilled nicely and it made a perfect harmony with the sauce. Our last course was of course dark chocolate cake with stracciatella gelato and candied orange. Good portion to split between three. And brilliant ending to celebrate me and my friends’ birthdays together.

Visiting from Montreal (where we have amazing restaurants), we were thrilled to get reservations @ Giulia’s. We were lucky enough to be seated in Kelly’s section. Kelly was knowledgeable about the entire menu, providing details of the dishes with excellent recommendations. We were four people and enjoyed several different dishes from the menu. All excellent, wonderful ingredients, sublime flavours, prepared perfectly!! Perfect portions, comfortable seating, great ambiance, Sometimes it’s the little things that leave an everlasting impression!! Fresh mint and hot water with a wonderful selection of incredible desserts!!! THANK YOU! Cheers!

Outstanding contemporary Italian restaurant with a great blend of classic and avant garde Italian dishes. Among the myriad of Italian restaurants in Boston, Giulia certainly ranks in the top 3. Their popularity has been attested by the extreme difficulty to make reservations, and we were very fortunate to snag one only a few days in advance. We started off with two of the most popular starters. Both the chicken liver crostini and the warm sem. cakes were as good as the hype, and they were excellent introductions to Giulia's culinary style. Each dish had an unconventional element that seamlessly integrated into the dish, and this continued throughout the majority of the dishes we ordered. Standout dishes from the antipasti include the salt roasted beets and the marinated octopus. The salt roasted beets demonstrated a perfect juxtaposition of sweet and salty notes, and the citrus fruits and herbs on the octopus refreshened our palates before diving into the pastas. While the first five dishes exemplified contemporary Italian style of cooking, the pastas transitioned into a more classical approach as we couldn't find any bold or creative toppings. Nevertheless, their execution was flawless, and we liked the slight variations in the flavor notes of the toppings. Bucatini was our favorite with its savory pancetta toppings, but the sweet notes of the anolini and the nuts on the farro fusili were also interesting. Highly recommend dining at this place but make sure to make a reservation at least two weeks in advance.

The Italian food and service were amazing, and they had great desserts. There is also a reasonably priced wine list. Reservations are open 2 weeks ahead, and they are usually fully booked within a few hours. For starters, we had the unicorn oysters, warm semolina cakes, burrata di andria, and the olive oil and sea salt focaccia. The starters were all really good, especially the burrata. We had seared scallops and beef tenderloin for the main course. Scallops were tasty, and the beef tenderloin was well marinated and tender. The dark chocolate cake was mildly spicy and just perfect. The sicilian pistachio gelato were super yummy.

Wonderfully cozy spot in the middle of Cambridge! A small and cozy Italian restaurant is one of the Cambridge staples and me and my partner were both excited to visit for a birthday dinner. Ordered one sfizi, one antipasti, two pasta dishes and one dessert to share + in our opinion having foccacia with olive oil here is an absolute must! Though the portions are not big, it was more than enough for the two of us. Pasta and bread in Giulia are the absolute standouts - we both especially liked the wild board pappardele, which was one of the best, mouthful bites I've ever had. But the great quality fresh ingredients do stand out in almost every dish and that's what makes Giulia so popular! I'd also highly recommend cocktails that have some great, creative twists on the well known concepts. Two minor gripes: - the service is very efficient, however not very welcoming - our waiter was a little reserved and very matter of fact, which made us feel a little awkward - when making reservation we were ake about the occasion and stated birthday celebration - the "special" surprise we got was a candle in our dessert - honestly was expecting a little more, and if that's it - why ask about the occasion at all? But maybe that's just in comparison to other restaurants in the area that spoiled us with extras on other occasions :) Overall - this is a staple for a reason - if you like good food in a rustic setting, you won't be disappointed!

Not a super fancy looking restaurant (a serendipity of some sort) but one of the hardest to book and tastiest place I've ever been to. Every dish had the perfect amount of creaminess and I didn't feel overly full or sick afterwards. The desserts were to die for— so refreshing and not overly sweet. The truffle dessert is very innovative and they truly made it work. It was SO delicious, and the aroma of truffle was almost infused in the ice cream it was scrumptious. The other dessert was more fruity: kiwi with Thai basil ice cream. The slight tanginess of the kiwi paired with sweet creamy ice cream created the perfect balance. If you are ever in Boston, try to book this restaurant ahead of time!

Overall nice atmosphere and front of house staff that are helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. Good food with a decent amount of creativity going on so it's more than basic Italian. Wish more was done to accommodate vegan - only one pasta could be made vegan (and that was just by removing the cheese). Other dishes with cream/cheese/egg apparently could not be done with vegan substitutes.

Will have dreams about the pumpkin agnolotti. Great place to eat alone because you can order a few dishes to try. Delicious wine selection. Busy high energy vibes even at 8pm. Would definitely go back.

One of the best places to eat in the Greater Boston Area. Food is very good and service is excellent. Very few places offer this type of service which is very appreciated. The pasta is fresh and you find great dishes (not the typically ones you find in any Italian place). Very pleasant restaurant and I wish there were more places like this. Definitely recommended, good place for a date or special occasion.

Went here on Halloween. Was here a few years ago on my birthday. Came back to see if it was the same. This time coming it was so much better! Had the potato focaccia with lardo. Warm seminolina cake with tallagio fondito. Wild boar with parpedelle (added 3 grams of white truffles). For dessert o tried the special. It was a white truffle meringue (toasted) white truffle gelato. Sweet seminolina cake. This was the first time I had any kind of truffle in a dessert.(other than chocolate )I wasn't disappointed! I thought it would overwhelm everything but no!. Service was top notch. Everyone was very knowledgeable about the menu, the answered every question i had. I will definitely be back. I really don't mind spending money for food this good! 15 out of 5 stars!

Service was efficient and friendly, and the interior was a nice mix of rustic and modern vibes. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to previous google reviews as I had anticipated. With pasta dishes around $30 each, I was hoping for delectable flavor creations with each dish. My partner and I ordered two classic pastas: the bucatini all’amatriciana (with house-cured pancetta, tomato, and pecorino), and the pappardelle (with braised wild boar, juniper, foraged mushrooms, and parmigiano). The server recommended both dishes as mainstays of Giulia, so we were excited to taste both pastas. The pastas were brought out fairly quickly. First, the bucatini — the pancetta was nicely crispy and seasoned, and the sauce was a sweet and savory blend. It was good but not amazing. Second, the pappardelle — the boar was tougher than expected and the pappardelle was cold. This was the dish that was more disappointing based on the hype around it, especially because I know what a good braised boar can taste like. Overall, not a bad experience, but not as special as hoped for.

Usually love coming here. Not sure what happened this time. Service was very slow and felt strange. The starters were fine but our pastas were way too salty and the chickpeas in them were not cooked enough.. the dessert wasn’t great either. Not sure if the quality of this place is going down or this day was an exception .. as I’ve had very good experiences here the other times I’ve been.

Love this restaurant! Made reservation for dinner at 5:30pm and despite long line when the restaurant open, we were promptly seated. Our waiter is friendly and food came out fast. Great quality ingredient, flavor combination, and fast/attentive service. Good place for family, friends, romantic night out, and many more. Glad we had a chance to visit this gem in Boston! Note: Warm Semolina Cake highly recommended.

Food was amazing. I’m not one to ever complain about service. The server could slap me in the face, as long as it’s done tastefully and I wouldn’t care. But everyone I interacted with, except the host, seemed bored. Unexpected for the ambiance.

Thoughtful menu with quality ingredients. You can really taste the difference here. I recommend coming with a group to try as much as possible. Each dish was tastier than the next.

Got one of basically everything on the menu, including the lavender honey panna cotta. I knew it was going to be a great meal when I saw Vinsanto on the menu - that’s how you know an Italian place knows its stuff. 10/10 and close to home for many students. I feel like the portion sizes were just right as well.

Amazing restaurant. As far as seating goes, went right at 5:30pm when they open and they didn’t have any tables, but tons of availability at the bar. Seats didn’t last for long at the bar so you should definitely make a reservation ahead or go right when they open. Waitstaff was super nice and attentive. Drinks were so beautifully made and delicious, not too overpriced either. Got the chicken liver crostini appetizer but ate it too quickly to snap a picture. Very small but tasty dish. They serve good complementary bread, too. For the meal, got the bucatini all’amatriciana. The noodles were incredible, the pancetta added a perfect crunch. Also got the garganelli with mushroom conserva, you have to like mushrooms—but so delicious and creamy and cheesy. Both meals were not heaping portions, but probably what’s considered a more standard portion. I was happy with it because I had room for an app, drinks and dessert. The dessert I got was a seasonal sorbet made with fresh Maine blueberries with some sort of cream and crunch. I’m not entirely sure what was in it, all I know is it was the best dessert I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this entire meal, but you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Quality food, but maybe not the place for people with "simple" palates? Portions were smaller than expected and the recommended dishes were too refined for our tastes. The corn cakes with truffles were highly recommended but ended up being traumatic. 😂 We really liked the salami plate, though!

One of the best Italian restaurants in Cambridge area. Wonderful hospitality, great ambiance, and delicious food with fresh seasonal ingredients and rich flavors featuring both traditional Italian and exotic twists. Their freshly made pasta was wonderful and make sure to leave room for desserts! Come early for walk in or make reservation.

Giulia has some incredible items on the menu and service is impeccable. The menu is small with <10 dishes per course but almost all are delicious. Some of the ones we liked best are the lentil salad with burrata (not sure if still on the menu) and the bucatini all’amatriciana. Our least favorite items were the salumi (it was good but I still prefer French charcuterie), the anolini (too soggy), and the paccheri (it was good but quite heavy due to the wine and beef broth reduction, it was difficult to finish). A special spot for a date night or dinner with family/friends.
