I became a new Christian while I was attending Park Street Church in 1989, after a troubled past. 33 years later, I am still attending, and God is still the most important person in my life. I am grateful to Park Street Church for nurturing my faith, being a community of amazing people that come and go. I have been involved in many parts of the church, helping to teach Sunday school, prepare communion, being part of Women's Ministries, on the Nominating Committee once, and being part of Small Groups that have evolved and come and gone. I've sat in the presence of five senior pastors who preach earnestly from the Bible and are self-sacrificing servants: Paul Toms, David Fisher, Gordon Hugenberger, our interim Phil Thorne, and now Mark Booker. They are each different, each unique, and each have given of themselves in service of God's Word and truth. Now that I am older, it is interesting and refreshing to have a senior pastor who is younger than me! His preaching is sound, grounded in God's word. It's not easy being an Evangelical Christian in our divisive and rancorous culture. Mark Booker stands his ground, making no excuses for clinging to God as the rock of his life, in my opinion. I met my husband in a small group after I became a Christian. We were blessed to have one son when I was 40, and to raise him up with the help of this church, with eyes wide open. Park Street is a church full of normal people, all of us sinful, and nurturing each other toward being more like Jesus.

Read about the really tall steeple of this church being an important landmark for people back in the day and was fascinated that it was built on top of a granary! Park Street Church (& Granary Burial grounds) is a stop on the Freedom Trail so definitely don’t miss it!!

Great service. Incredible orchestra and choir. Biblical based message that does not bend to societal pressure but stays true to the written and never changing Word of God. A unique find in downtown Boston.

This is a storied church, a church that has had many prominent ministers step into its pulpit. This was once a solid, well-run, traditional New England congregationalist church. Sadly, this is now a deeply troubled church. Joan Ahrem, who wrote a review, is part of the problem During Lent, 2022, Mark Booker (MB) took an overseas mission trip. He was installed as Senior Minister in the fall of 2021. The church was going through a difficult transition. There had been many layoffs and resignations, with many long-serving ministers leaving during and shortly after the leadership transition. There was a stormy members' meeting and problems with the election of elders and an abrupt departure of a minister, all while MB was out of town. When MB returned,. he held a Meet and Great COVID-19, exposing over 150 people. MB did not send an e-mail to members, apologizing for not taking a PCR test prior to the Meet and Greet and expressing concern for those who got sick. This is unacceptable behavior for a pastor MB is too charismatic and inexperienced. Charismatic leaders are also likely to be too self-centered (amongst other faults) and can destroy organizations. The search committee should have done its due diligence. In this situation, MB should have received a 2-3 day long psychological and leadership assessment as well as a very thorough background check as part of Due Dilligence. MB has not made his resume / CV public, either by publishing it on LinkedIn or on the church's web site. This is unprofessional and leads one to wonder what he is hiding. There comes a time when a CEO has to resign as part of trying to heal a troubled organization. MB does not have appropriate managerial experience and it shows. He was a successful church planter and perhaps he should return to that. The leadership qualities needed to be a successful church planter are not necessarily what it takes to be a successful minister of a large, staid and historically important church. The board of elders voted to place an elder on 'indefinite leave', without providing any reason for doing this. The e-mail sent was an embarrassment, for it was extremely passive-aggressive. The board of elders and the elder voted out reconciled. Still this was an inappropriate e-mail and the board of elders MUST apologize to the congregation. The elders hired a law firm from Colorado, near where MB is from, to investigate a pastor who resigned abruptly. The report accused the departed pastor of 'spiritual abuse' but did not give members information on what that pastor did nor recommendations. Chris May (CM), he Minister to Women, has a spiritual director, Adele Ahlberg Calhoun. Ms Calhoun is an avowed occultist--she has written several books promoting the Enneagram--9 personality types. This system originates with the work of the Armenian / Russian mystic / con man, G. I. Gurdjieff and was fleshed out over time by his students as well as students of his students. What Ms Calhoun teaches is known to be pseudoscience. CM is a mystic and thinks it's OK to teach mystical practices to people she hardly knows. Research on Mindfulness Meditation done in the UK that demonstrates that this practice can do harm to some people. Those who teach mystical practices probably do need to have formal mental health training, along with completing an internship. I wonder if CM has appropriate training... CM's husband, Doug, is an elder of PSC. It's impossible to discipline CM, because of this. Both need to be removed from their respective positions and drummed out of PSC. There's even more nepotism. In 2022, the PSC Board of Elders contains a married couple. That's right, a married couple. PSC is a large church, with 800-900 members (and falling). If PSC can not find 12 Biblically qualified elders who meet the requirements under PSC's constitution, who are not close relatives of other elders AND who are not close relatives of ministers or other supervisory employees of PSC, it's time to dissolve PSC. Long-time members need to pressure leadership to clean up its act.

It’s my church! This is not an objective review! I actually love worship with an organ — and I didn’t used to- but it’s so all encompassing and well done. And the preaching is deeply thoughtful not over simplified and very much based in Scripture. The building is beautiful and all but that’s not really the main thing here.

My brother had his wedding here. Beautiful old historic church. Lots of floors and rooms to explore. Didn't attend any services or functions except for the wedding. 🙂

This English style Church stands right in Boston center, across the Boston Common park. It dates back to early 19 c. During our three days in Boston we passed it every day and it was always closed, so we could only see the exterior and the next door Granary graveyard which is the final resting place for great figures of the American revolution.

Just a awesome nondenominational Church with so much history. Very welcoming. Take a walk around the outside, you will be surprised at the great people from our historic pass who rest in peace there. Great message from the minster Kris Perkins. Left with great peace. I am not from Boston, I was visiting but if I was this would be my church.

The architecture of Park Street Church captivated us as soon as we laid eyes on it. Exploring its rich history was a memorable experience for our entire family. A spiritual and architectural gem in the heart of the city. Beautiful building and incredible history. This is definitely worth a visit when touring Boston and the Freedom Trail.

Welcoming and the sermon and music were excellent. Loved that people experiencing homelessness were in the coffee afterwards. We were visiting from England. Dropped our son at University. There seemed a lot of community available and open and fun and caring which was heartening given we were leaving our child in another continent for 5 years. Fun chat with Tim the vicar afterwards. The organist was incredible. As was the solo singing. God was the same awesome, loving father as he always is. I suggest you check him out too.

The solemn serenity of Park Street Church is uplifting. The last sermon I attended, the pastor’s words resonated through the ornate interiors, instilling a profound sense of peace. It’s more than just a religious visit, it’s a spiritual retreat within the city’s heart.

It was okay but it wasn't what I expected! I felt like I was more there in a service that I'm not used to, And that's not against the people that go there that's just the spirit of how it felt to me as I was sitting there waiting for the service to start,When the preacher got up to give his message he did a good job on that I'm glad I went there to try it out because I know it's not the place for me but those that go their and like their Church that is their preference and for me it was just different but that's okay because not everybody is going to like the same Church! Sly and the family Stone said it best in one of their songs everyday People, the words were different strokes for different folks- and that includes churches!😀

THE CHURCH IS A PUBLIC EMBARRASSMENT TO ANY FAMILY WITH A CHILD OR ADULT WHO HAS ANY FORM IF A DISABILITY I WOULD STRONY ENCOURAGE THAT THEY NOT GO TO CHURCH HEAR! THEY HAVE GOTTEN INTO ARGUMENTS WITH ME ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DESPITE ME HAVING ASPERGER'S SYNDROME AND BANNED ME FROM PUBLIC EVENTS! THEY ARE NOT NICE PEOPLE! I WOULD STRONGLY ENCOURAGE THEM TAKING THERE FAMILY SOMEWHERE ELSE! Vengeance IS MINE THUS Saith THE LORD THIS IS WHY IM DEPARTING FROM THERE CHURCH EVEN JESUS TURNED THE TABLES WHEN HE WAS 😡

We were visiting Boston for the weekend and I was looking for a church to visit and Park Street was great. It's been a long time since I've been in a church where everyone was singing and worshipping together. Even the announcements were worshipful, as cheesy as that sounds. The pastor's heart and love for the people was evident. Though we have no intention of leaving our rural community, after the service, my wife said, "So... want to move to Boston??" Good to know that God is still alive and worshipped in some places.

I love this church. The music and choir are exceptional as are the ministers. They are very compassionate to students and visitors and a great amount of diverse activities during the week.

Founded in 1809, the Park Street Church sits on Tremont Street at one corner of the Boston Common. The church has been active in many social issues of the day, including anti-slavery and, more recently, gay marriage.

One of the attractions included on the Freedom Trail in Boston is the historic Park Street Church located on the corner of Park and Tremont, wedged in between Boston Common and the Old Granary Burial Ground. Established in 1809, Park Street Church is noted as having been a brimstone storehouse during the War of 1812 and being the venue where Samuel Francis Smith's 'My Country Tis a Thee' song was first sung. Sadly, the church was closed both times we passed by so we were only able to view the historic building from the outside. Designed by Peter Banner, the most memorable thing about the church exterior for us was seeing the 217-foot steeple. Apparently, the steeple made Park Street Church the tallest landmark in America from 1810 to 1846. Considering the size of so many skyscrapers and tall buildings across the country today, it is interesting to think that this was the tallest building in the country during its early years. If you do pass by the Park Street Church, it is definitely worth time to pop into the adjacent cemetery next door, known as the Old Granary Burial Ground. Another member of the Freedom Trail, this is where you find the burial place and monuments for the likes of Paul Revere, John Hancock, the five victims of the Boston Massacre and the parents of Benjamin Franklin.

Third stop during our self-guided Freedom Trail walking tour. Great reading about its historic significance but couldn't really fully appreciate it because it was closed during our visit, plus most of the building was scaffolded.

Boston has a lot of grand churches and this one is just as fine as any in the city. Being close to Boston Common it really stands out.
