Massachusetts General Hospital: Fertility Center

Fertility clinic Hospital department

😠 Agree with Martinez's post! The doctor just ordered numerous blood tests and didn't even follow up with me on what the results mean! Their finance people are also horrible. They made a mistake on the billing code that leads to no coverage from my insurance. I've called three times over the past two... People often mention clinic, team, experience, call, doctor, amazing, appointment, fertility, care, told,

Agree with Martinez's post! The doctor just ordered numerous blood tests and didn't even follow up with me on what the results mean! Their finance people are also horrible. They made a mistake on the billing code that leads to no coverage from my insurance. I've called three times over the past two week and all went straight to voicemail. I for sure will not trust my baby with them.

Unethical clinic with terrible staff. It’s obvious that people who work there hate their jobs! The nurses just want to schedule unnecessary Dr.’s appointments to bill you, and the docs do extra tests that are expensive and not required. The finance people are a nightmare. They provided incorrect information over and over again, and guess who has to pay for it? They just want your money, and don’t care about you as a patient at all. All other negative reviews are so true. Avoid this place. The clinic needs a real fix up.

I had a horrific experience at this clinic, specifically with Dr. Jill Attaman. I rarely post reviews, but I sincerely don't want any woman to go through what I went through here. It was a nightmare. You will meet with a doctor for the initial appointment, but it will be nearly impossible to reach them throughout your treatment. Instead, you'll bounced around from nurse to nurse. Often times, these nurses don't know the details of your particular situation and the majority have a terrible bedside manner. You are just a number here. Without going into all the details, Dr. Attaman and her staff were grossly negligent and reckless in their care. It was hands down the most traumatic experience I've had in my life. I don't want anyone to go through this, so I strongly recommend that you search for another clinic- there are so many great hospitals in Boston, so there are plenty of options.

I should have found another clinic after my first appointment in July. PSA: the informed consent you sign in the office is not the same as the informed consent the vendor performing the genetic testing (Myriad Women's Health) has you sign. Myriad's informed consent requires you to agree to them performing a soft pull on your credit before they'll give you your results. What bothered me is that when I tried to opt out within 24 hours of receiving the welcome email from Myriad, I was told that it was too late, the company had already pulled my credit. After finding out the fertility clinic had no idea that Myriad was pulling all of its patients' credit information, I filed a complaint with MGH patient advocacy, only to wait 30 days to be told MGH doesn't have to answer any of my concerns and basically that I need to get over it. By this point I was already into a couple of months of treatment and didn't want to start over at another clinic (I should have!). Following one IUI treatment, I got pregnant (yay!) I went in for the six week ultrasound and was told to come back in two weeks prior to moving over to an ob-gyn. When I went to the eight week ultrasound appointment, the doctor came in and started arguing with me about how far along I was. I was eight weeks one day, but she insisted that I was eight weeks six days, continuing to argue with me, and then finally making the nurse go check the records to verify. It was obvious the doctor hadn't bothered to even read my medical records prior to the ultrasound. She asked me my age and then asked me questions about my medical history that she would have known had she taken a few minutes to review my file prior to coming in. We found out I lost the baby and then her main concern was me taking some pills for the miscarriage or going into surgery. And of course, the ultrasound to make sure everything has gone. And also going in for a blood test. The other reviewers are not wrong. MGH Fertility only cares about how much money each patient can bring into the facility. I will not be returning.

The worst. Very unprofessional staff - Always late for appointments, Sometimes had to wait an hour to go in - Dr barely shares any information, forgets who her patients are - Have to call multiple times to even get a call back or get a reply for any issue/ question I have - all they care for is money, they are amazing until you pay. Then youre just a number - no follow up/ no explanations/ had to go to a different clinic to understand more about the process even after embryo transfer - I have to call to remind them to share with me results of any test. they even asked me on several occasions to call back and remind them if they dont get back to me - They billed me twice for procedures I paid for in advance at the beginning of the treatment. They almost try their luck to get more money and see if you dont notice Not worth your time or money. Go to another hospital/ clinic if you have a chance

We used this clinic for the birth of our son. We had an amazing experience. One thing bothered me which led me to not give them a 5 star rating. The doctors told us “good luck” when it was over. This really bothered me. I know it’s like a pleasantry that people use but it’s inappropriate in this situation. If I wanted luck I would’ve gone to a leprechaun. Instead I went to some doctors and scientists. So I wanted them to rely on science to help us create a life not on luck. Other than that we had an amazing experience and the first IVF cycle worked and we have an amazing boy.

Beware sketchy billing practices: My partner and I were customers of MGH Fertility for our reciprocal IVF process. Their financial office was aware from the beginning that we would have to pay out of pocket for the entire process. We were required to pay “for everything” before we could even begin working with them. However, after my egg retrieval I was billed and additional $700 for a 5 minute follow up call with my fertility doctor in which she told me how many eggs were retrieved. I was not informed I would be billed for this appointment nor that it was not included in the $16,000+ prepayment we had made 6 months earlier. This was the only bill I received since the prepayment. This appointment was not referenced on any pricing sheets or invoices we received. We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Dimitriadis and all of her team but these sketchy business practices have tarnished that. As such, we would not recommend anyone work with MGH Fertility.

So far after hours of phone calls we've only spoken to one person who could answer our basic questions.

Haven seen my doctor (Petrozza) once. My wife gets contradictory messages from nurses (too many follicles, no the right amount). They winged IUI then wanted to push for IVF, probably because of higher reimbursement, didn't even consider intermediate steps - we had to find out by ourselves and tell them

After a horrible experience at another hospital, this team was incredible. I felt confident in my treatment from the very first appointment. Dr. Styer accurately diagnosed my condition and performed a corrective surgery. His entire team was great about following up and keeping me informed. Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend the fertility team at MGH enough. This past June I had a large ovarian cyst and it’s removal resulted in the loss of the right ovary and fallopian tube and blockage of my left fallopian tube. This means that my only way of getting pregnant is through IVF. My head fertility doctor is Dr. Shifren and she is so lovely and knowledgeable. The whole team at MGH is kind and helpful and I feel like I am in great hands, which is especially comforting during (what can be) a very stressful time. Thank you!

Great staff and physicians. Nurses are caring and take their time to explain medications and testing. They walked me through every step and helped me to understand everything that was happening

The team at the clinic is amazing! Dr. Petrozza met with my husband and I and listened to all our concerns. He ordered all tests and the nurses followed up with us after EACH result to discuss. I needed a small procedure and the NP Barbara was so nice and caring! They respond to all my messages on the app and call me if needed! I really felt taken care of at the clinic and appreciate every one of them!

My wife was very anxious about an upcoming FemVue procedure and I wanted to accompany her in the room for reassurance and to be a supportive partner in this process. In the sole discretion of the practice and without any formal policies against allowing a significant other in the same room for such a procedure, this request was denied. We found the lack of compassion and a reasonable answer as to why this would not be allowed to be unacceptable, and will be seeking services elsewhere.

Compared to my experience at another Boston facility MGH was the best. Dr Petrozza and his team are incredible.

We still have never gotten a call back, let alone spoken to someone who knew what they were talking about. They originally canceled our appointment the day before because we had insurance that wouldn't cover any of this, but refused to let us pay out-of-pocket.

After calling two months ago and being promised a phone call back from some higher up who supposedly would know what they were talking about, I have still received no call. We've gone with another fertility center.

We did one round of IVF with Dr. Irene Dimitriadis, MD. The experience was super bad. We had dozen of eggs retrieved and none was successful in the end. The doctor gave super weird suggestions after this failure, very irresponsible and unprofessional. They were super rude to my wife through out the process. The whole team sucks! It was a total waste of time there!

Horrendous. I was with this clinic and Dr. Petrozza for 6 years. They do not listen to your concerns at all. I knew I had PCOS and my provider told me I was just a “young healthy woman” After two failed egg retrievals we made the switch to CCRM Boston where I got a diagnosis for PCOS right away. We also have three embryos on ice from the new clinic.

The team at MGH is kind, caring, and truly wants to help you fulfill your fertility dreams. They are there to answer questions whenever you need them which is key when going through a complex medical process.

We had an amazing experience at the fertility center at MGH, which gave us our beautiful baby girl. We worked with Dr. Souter (who was wonderful), but saw many other physicians and nurses during our IVF journey. The entire team was extremely kind and wonderful during a very stressful journey. We also had several major issues with our insurance and their Practice Manager, Gladys Muñoz, was amazing at helping us resolve these issues. We can't thank the MGH team enough!

I had an amazing experience with MGH and Dr. Souter. They were extremely responsive, and open on weekends! My appointments were always quick and efficient. Great care.
