I went here as a child on a locked ward many years ago. I wasn't allowed to see my family for 6 months. I had to earn that right. I refused to join the group for their scheduled activity once and I was dragged to a room and physically restrained. They ended up giving me a shot to sedate me wrapping me in a tight blanket with no room to move and my chest felt so tight. Then I was carried to my room and left for the night like that. I got checked on only once. I don't really wanna talk about the other abuse on the ward itself but the Dr at the small house associated with this hospital gave me so many different diagnosis and prescribed so many different meds that even now I wonder how much that changed my brain. There are times I cant even remember because of that. One medication made me gain 70lbs as a 9yo before they decided to take me off it. In all I stayed in the ward for a year went back to my abusive home with no improvements. And now I question my own long term mental effects of such strong meds with constantly changing prescriptions.

Working here is absolutely horrid. Staff constantly cut corners. Nurses are rude to patients and condescending to other staff such as cleaners, cooks, and mental health associates. The work environment is so toxic and the turnover rate is very high. It's been 2 years working here. Everyone was so friendly coming in but then supervisors and senior mental health associates show you their real colors and are extremely cold.

I wonder how much they paid for the positive reviews and for the photo shopped images...The absolute worst place my loved one was sent too. No care given, not by the staff especially. Saw a Dr and Physiologist ONCE. Still on same meds, that sent him there...lot of good that does..Staff is rude, lazy, and completely incompetent. Attempted to give the wrong medication and argued the fact! When the staff member actually checked all that was said was "OH". Our visiting protocol changed daily...Staff was rude to me because I didn't have an appointment to visit on 1 occasion. Told me i was supposed to have one and would see if I am able to visit....Since when? Dam right, im going to visit. The place is disgusting ,reeks of urine. The patients clothes aren't washed, they are put in the dryer to fluff them up. My loved ones clothes smelled so bad, I couldn't sit next to him during our visit. And Groups...HA, If you call coloring a computer print out group. No discussions, no Interactions, color your page and go about just wondering around for hours and hours. I called and advised that I am taking my loved one out today...and filing formal complaints with anyone and everyone possible. Protect your loved ones and keep them away from here!!!

Old Caucasian male day nurse on N3 was extremely unprofessional. Constantly made rude and unnecessary remarks. Always felt so uncomfortable when I had to get medication from him. He picks on his patients and belittles us. The way he talks to us is filled with contempt and sees us as beneath him. Me and many other patients have had to put up with this nasty man. Please fix this. I was only able to stay sane because the female nurses and staff would listen to me and made me felt heard. Bathroom had to be shared with other people. It smelled like feces. Food was alright. Besides how the nurses treated us it was okay.

I was referred to the outpatient program today for med management and therapeutic help. I have adhd and autism. The social worker seemed okay and told me that the program would work with me. Immediately upon walking in I noticed no one was masked, and I have two autoimmunes. When I raised my concerns about no social distancing and no mask mandates, the social worker simply said “we can’t control everyone.” The group therapy consisted of watching Pilates videos on YouTube, Steve Harvey motivational speeches on YouTube, and coloring a ven diagram- coloring, not filling it out or talking about it, coloring. Another patient came out of the bathroom with a joint in his mouth, and the security guard did nothing. There was no supervision during breaks and during my visit with the doctor, I expressed my concerns. She again told me they can’t control everyone, and then proceeded to tell me I can live without my adhd meds since I haven’t been on them lately, and that I didn’t seem to have adhd or autism since I could speak on what was going on. I did not feel safe at anytime, and when I said I was concerned with the lack of structure and safety measures, I was simply told to leave and that they couldn’t control anyone. It seems like a Covid cesspool. Ive been in day programs before. I had multiple panic attacks throughout the day and staff just looked at me and carried on. It was more like a social gathering then group therapy. I need structure and supervision in my care, not chaos and gaslighting. Do not come here. Visit another day program. I wish I had seen a review like this before listening to the ER doctors. The program was also overfilled and under staffed. There had to be 30 people in the room. I’m going to a facility in Brookline next week to receive care. When I left, I was shaking with anxiety. I left worse then when I went in.

The outside is FILTHY. You're not allowed inside. A supposed nurse came to speak to me outside, about the fact that they're keeping my son illegally, against his will, a flagrant violation of his civil rights. He's been exposed to Covid twice. Although my son has not shown ANY signs of ANY of the reasons necessary for being under observation, being a model patient, they refuse to allow him to leave the hospital. It appears as though they want to keep well mannered, kind, caring, independent individuals in their beds, for easy money.... The police were called when I posted the following poster. FREE JOHN!! With a notation of the civil rights law being violated. Chapter 12b.

The administrative staff who is responsible for answering the phones and supposed to help mental health patients are HORRID people. They are so cold, condescending, and incompetent. Do not waste your money here. Do not send a loved one here that needs help.

literally such a bad hospital, i was sent here a couple months ago and all the staff did was complain about their jobs. N1 was for ppl under 18 years old and no one ever wanted to go to N1. you could hear the staff complain abt how they want to quit. and the so called "school" was so stupid all you did was do wordcrosses and some activity that wasnt worth your time, and if you didnt go to "school" you would lose your privileges. (which wasnt much)

Older male nurse with a beard and glasses is just downright foul. Stay here was horrible. Never any cold water or nothing. Medication knocked me out. Kept on medicating me. Nurse on North 3 is mean. South 2 was nicer.

Years ago, this hospital and one if there nurses overdosed me on antipsychotics. I have tourette syndrome and they caused me medication toxicity. They abused me and became very sick as a result, necessitating the need to transport me to Tufts ER where they found high levels of Thorazine and haloperidol in my blood. Terry, a nurse with arbor ABUSED ME. I was never transferred back after back after I recovered medically and psychiatrically ar tufts medical center in Boston. This Place makes me so sad looking back and don't even remember half Mt stay bc they knocked ms out dt tourette syndrome- a neuropsychiatric condition that is very hard to control. They also stole all Mmy personal belongings when u transferred by ambulance to tufts from .

It's hard to rate this kind of hospital, but I had to speak with staff, and drive there for a family member a couple of times. The staff was nice and informed me of everything going on, which was appreciated. But, I had to reach out to them, which was frustrating, and one of the social workers kept putting words in my mouth, confusing my family member. I would say one thing, but thre social worker would say I said something else. These are the only issues I had with this facility. The front desk woman is fantastic, and the nurses are patient. I highly suggest don't go here ;), but if you do, it seems like a better facility than most in Massachusetts.

Bedbugs and lazy staff. They claim to check on us all the time. But there have been nights where the staff who was suppose to watch me was snoring and asleep in my room. I did not feel safe.

I believe the staff tries their best, the unit was clean from what I could see (I was visiting a client) and I saw the housekeeping staff when I went to visit. It's not a resort, its a place to help you get yourself together. For what it is worth I think it is a decent facility. I use to work as MH counselor for 10 years and compared to other places this place is in the top 7 I have seen. I was told the food is also very good.

I had a brief relapse with alcohol while I was in a program on 4/10/23. I was suicidal and in a blackout when I arrived at the er at MGH. The following day I was transferred to Arbour JP. I had no idea what to expect on arrival. I am pleased to report I was treated with respect and kindness. I was a patient for 2 weeks before I was readmitted to my program. I thank Arbour for keeping me safe and comfortable throughout. The food was good and was never hungry. I want to send a special thanks to my caseworker Kat who manged my return to Brookline quickly and kept me posted on bed openings. She also put together a flawless discharge which eased the anxiety I had about leaving. If you simply follow the rules, know your medications and be respectful of fellow patients and staff you can't go wrong at this hospital. Best,George Erickson

Adequate meals, helpful and friendly staff, the showers/bathrooms were kinda gross and the food could have been better quality but i cant complain much, they give you 24/7 Phone and soda machine access. Never been to a psych ward before I took too many drugs and passed out in the street, so i didnt really need to be there, but i can see how people who struggle with long lasting mental illness and tougher issues than mine could perceive it negatively. Jim the social worker, Terri the human rights official, and one younger african-american gentleman who's name i cant remember were the most friendly and helpful people there for me. Thank you guys for the help!

This place is awful, they lost my legal papers therefore making me stay longer then I was supposed too. The staff was inconsiderate of patients and were very loud at night. To top it off the food was disgusting and the kitchen staff got the majority of my orders wrong.

I was there three years ago. I've been to numerous pysch hospitals, including McLean in Belmont and Brockton. I was pleasantly surprised by this hospital. All the staff wereextremely nice. I felt safe and listened to here. Just one older orderly was cranky, but not mean.

Staff doesn’t care about patients. I checked myself in to get help, yet I was heavily medicated and ignored. The psychiatrist, nurses, and nursing supervisor did nothing regarding the complaints I filed while inpatient. The staff lost my personal belongings, didn’t inform me what my plan of care or medication regimen was. When I questioned the nurse, Tina I was lied to about a medication I was given as I was clear I was as unable to take that particular medication. Staff is rude and downright mean and disrespectful to patients. The staff is lazy and speaks foreign language in front of patients as well as making fun of them and teasing them. I was released onto the streets heavily medicated and in a psychotic episode that progressed rapidly. This place is disgusting from the patient care, the filthy facility, and the useless staff and administrators. Disgusting that people who need the most help are being abused this way. Shameful!!!!

Yes, evil does exist in this world and this place is the epitome of it. I was lashed out on by an employee for asking for my drinks that were brought to me as commissary. I signed a form to stay there for 3 days but the form got “lost” or something and they made me sign a new one extending my stay longer than what it was legally supposed to be. Filthy conditions as well. Have had nightmares of this place for well over a year now that will last a lifetime. This is not to mention the flashbacks I have almost every single day of this place that send me into tunnel vision mode. This facility has destroyed me. This place is designed to methodically break you down both mentally and physically. This facility is like being buried alive, it’s some place alive but no place anybody wants to be. As to how facilities like this are legal across the nation, that i don’t know. It seems they can keep you for as long as they want as well because I heard of people being there for years. I hope these people who work here find peace in their life and don’t have to use their energy to cause pain to others. (Edit) I just want to say mental hospitals are a disgrace to humanity. It is human captivity. They store humans and lock them up like they are animals. It is absolutely disgusting. They should not be legal in any part of the world. My heart goes out to any human being locked up in one of these places❤️.

Hi I was inpatient a month ago this was my first locked in stay I was terrified to be honest I was put in a Jonny waiting to speak to nurse about my first room I had to hold my gown togsther while guys stared at me ! The nurses were good I told them I had huge anxiety about meds ! Wrong thing to say they just loaded you up on more ! I took them tho ! I had scabies so I felt awful I didn’t want to give it to dbt body else ! I made sure staff snd nurse knew . They didn’t seem to care lol I was more worried about it then they were . The food was good I made some cool friends while I was there ! South 3 was horrible I was put there first I dunno why I was scared it was like jail to me ! But I made out ok I think . The one big complaint I had is staff shining the light in your eyes when you were trying to sleep it was annoying as someone with ptsd it triggered me alot ! I also think female should do the checks but I get it not enough staff . The ward was super cold but I will say this it got rid of my scabies for two weeks ! I did see the doc there sorry but he was very rude to me saying that I didn’t have bugs in me “ and that I had dop which I don’t but whatever . I received pretty good care ! But it wouldn’t be my first choice if I ever need to be hospitalized again but ty I know it’s not easy !

Most of the staff seemed like they hated their job and could care less about the patients. I would over hear them making comments to each other about patients or work in general. If you don’t like working there then why are you there. I ended up signing a three day asap because I couldn’t stand the place. I’ve been to over 6 different hospitals and this was the worse. I didn’t get the help I actually needed.
