They make it EXTREMELY difficult to cancel your membership. I probably spend upwards of 5 hours attempting to call and email people to cancel the membership (I moved out of the area). They also continued to charge several of my friends for ~4 months despite cancelling their memberships in writing back in May of 2020. The individuals are still dealing with their banks regarding the issue today. If you understand this before signing up and are fine with it, the gym might be right for you. The facilities are fine/ sufficient. Just know cancelling your membership will end up being a second job. I never write reviews, but I went out of my way to write this one.

below average gym with above average sauna. the downside is that it is very hard to cancel, and they charge you $10 to cancel your membership. When I emailed Krystina, the manager, to set up my account, she replied within hours. When I emailed her to cancel, it took her 3 days to reply that I would have to wait *another* 45 days to cancel. In general, I would go to the Y in central, just up the street. The Y has better equipment and was much easier to cancel. They don't even charge you to *stop* going to their gym.... haha... in general, a bit of a ripoff, but a decent gym if you're in a pinch.

The location is great, the rest is average for a city gym and gets the job done. My reason for 2 stars is that most the TVs on the elliptical machines either have remotes that do not work, or are not connected and most of the TVs do not have many working channels and most are static. For a extra $99 a year fee you think they would hook up the amenities properly. 2 of the elliptical also shake when you use them.

I enrolled in BSC in September last year but was travelling a lot and only used the gym for two months. I have been ripped off by the club, first, by getting over charged and then having them deduct fees from me monthly as well. The manager Krystyna said she will give me a month free of charge and freeze my account, however, I still got charged. Itโ€™s very hard to get out of a contract here! Best if you enroll in another gym! So far I haven't been able to get any refund. I have contacted the club and member services at Town Spirts International. I am still waiting to get a refund. I was enrolled at another sports club the YMCA in the Boston area but joined this just because it was near to where I lived. If you want to get ripped off and get unhelpful customer service this is the place. The gym itself isn't big and it's in a basement. There is also a 45 day notice for cancellation for which they ask you to pay $25. Not sure why they require 45 days to let someone go while when they want members it takes 5 minutes to set up their account

They've got all the equipment there and is a pretty popular gym but the men's locker room is the reason for 3 stars. A lot of the lockers are broken and the majority of the showers have something wrong with them (e.g. heads are broken, drains clogged, poorly maintained, etc). I've been coming here for 6 months and tolerated it because I thought that was normal but now I know it's not.The people are all so very nice and understanding (the fitness classes are good too), but the turnover time of things getting fixed is slow.

I've been a member on and off at the Central Square location for 10 years. The former Central Square manager, Kristina, genuinely cared about the members and the gym. Billing was clear and the equipment and facilities were kept clean. That has all changed. I am getting random charges and calls from them about overdue balances when my account is on autopay. I have now cancelled my membership.

They have all of the equipment necessary, and it's never over crowded. With the right instructor (Great spin instructor), the classes can be worthwhile, however not all instructors are created equally. There is not enough variety in class times for me though. There is either early morning, or after work hours, with the exception of a noon spin class. The locker room is large, plenty of showers, a steam, and sauna room. Bathroom stalls are clean. The steam room is usable, but not the best. I'm really not confident in how well they clean it. Same with the showers. I think the cleaners just throw some lipstick on it, and call it a day. The sauna seems fine. Always bring your own shampoo etc. Their shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are all body was poured into different bottles. It's been that way for the past year. I use this gym because it's convenient, they have the machines I like to use, and you can't beat the price; that's the end goal. I recommend it under those conditions.

Decent gym with great sauna and steaming room. The reason why I rated 1 Star is that it is so frustrating to cancel the membership with charge of $10. Manager says in order to cancel the membership you need to request "45 days before" when you are going to cancel and she will say that I told you during the process of sign up, which she did not. If that was the case I told her I am singing up for only 2 months. I could have requested cancelation during that sign up time. So, i get charged $69.99 for annual fee, $10 cancelation fee, $25 the month that I am not going to be use the gym because of the 45 days before request thing. Basically Cash Cow Gym. I would like to let the owner know this is not only with me but it is happening with many of us. I have read some rates on yelp as well as here, and basically majority of the complaints are about fees. This means that customer service is ZERO.

Picture it. You wake up at 5am, get dressed. Everything packed and ready for your day the night before. You take the train from ashmont to central to get to the gym on time. Off the subway you walk up to street level, turn the corner to see the BSC storefront dim, locked, with a group of people waiting outside in the February rain. Itโ€™s a full hour after they were supposed to be open, and you have to be to work in an hour, still have to shower at least. What do you do? Thereโ€™s not enough time to get home before work. Before you join, youโ€™d be wise to consider and develop contingency plans. This gym is run by a group of people who act like bored nigh school seniors. The lack of professionalism is apparent from the poorly maintained equipment to the cleaning staff face timing in the shower areas theyโ€™re supposed to be maintaining to the lack of dependability and reliability. Know what youโ€™re getting into when you sign that contract!

Relative to the price, the gym is excellent value. It's large and has a wide variety of equipment. Some of it may be old but it's maintained to still be very well useable. Patrons are a good mix of young and old, muscle hunks and beer bellies, the gorgeous and the ugly. ;) Today the steam room was out of order but the sign indicating the specific spare part they are waiting for to be replaced inspired trust. The Finnish sauna was good and also a nice social experience. I found a good offer for a 30 day guest pass online; note that it's not sold in the gym. I can see where complaints about poor service are coming from - the receptionist was really friendly with a regular but therefore made me wait while chatting away with him. It wasn't a big deal but it could have annoyed anyone in a rush. I guess good service needs to be earned here! :)
