I want to echo concern of the other member. Showers are cold and unusable. Member a month ago put comment up, showers still cold. NO Fix. Save the stupid corporate response. FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! other than that club is pretty nice. Love it is open 24 hours. Hope that never changes. Update: I ended up Quitting this location and signing up in Dorchester. Had to take 1 more star away as still months later, showers still cold. Reported 2 xs to front desk Geesh. Went from what must be the dirtiest club in the circuit to the cleanest! Dorchester is the place to go people! Ranked cleanest in the state and they have hott showers! Friendly nice staff, Water Views and Nice new Clean and working equipment. Last time I went all of the ellipticals were down at downtown crossing were out. What? I plugged one in to get my workout. It was also filthy. ****Response to the management response below: Thanks so much for the response! Could You maybe forward comments to management and or have them pop on here and read comments????? Not my job to make sure the facility is maintained.

I’ve been tolerating the dirty amenities, broken bulbs in tanning beds, and poor maintenance of the equipment because it’s convenient to where I live. But now, the hours have been way reduced (not 24 hours) AND the gym has been closed due to a pipe bursting. I contacted management for a refund because why should I pay for something I can’t even use? Management was not helpful whatsoever…rude even. And I can see from these reviews that the management response to bad reviews shows they simply do not care about quality or customer service.

Very nice Downtown gym. Layout a little convoluted as it spans 2 basement levels of an old building. More signage would help. Hint: Cardio one flight down. Along with locker rooms and water. Two Flights down: weight room and everything else. Clean, spacious, not crowded at 10 am. Nice crowd too. Looking at it through the lens of a downtown gym, I’ve been to planet fitness in San Francisco, Chicago, Manhattan and Washington…this is def on par in terms of space, cleanliness, and size with a suburban PF. Nice place Locker room could use a garbage pick up

Says 24 hours but the morning guys will sit in the back getting buzzed and leave you outside with the door locked. Super cool being a woman by herself and watching the guy come to the door laughing and say 5 minutes then leave you out there for 20.. twice. Super disrespectful and rude. I drive extra for this one because it's 24 hours, guess not.

It has been three years at this location. The staff is always updated. Very professional and personable managers. I enjoy my workouts and the Rockbot app. The showers are hot any time of day. I see some of the regulars.

Overall this planet fitness is really good. I see lots of reviews saying dirty bathroom bad equipment and overcharged memberships/fraud and gotta say I’ve never had any of these experiences here. You kno you get what you pay for this is a standard planet fitness in terms of smelly bathrooms (cuz most of them are) and equipment is fine, typical equipt. Only reason I gave 4 stars is cuz there hours keep changing and they are wayyy to strict about letting ppl in without a black card and diff home location gym. I even offered to pay the 5.00 fee to use and they’re like no you can’t do that cuz ur already a member that’s only for prospective members. That makes no sense and again way too strict. So that’s all. But everything else is fine bathroom are standard equipment standard gone here for years don’t listen to the other reviews in regards to that stuff

I’m a black card PF member for 2 years and I came with a friend and this review is based off of that experience. I’ve been to around 7 different PF gyms at the time of this writing and I would say this location is one of the nicer ones. The biggest plus is the weight and strength machines as they had more relative to the ones iv been to and when I went, it wasn’t as busy as others, particular post New Years. Unlike other PF gyms, it has less cardio machines which is a negative for me. I enjoy my cardio and is one of my main workouts. This may be the product of the location as there’s two floors at this PF but each floor is not as big as a stand alone PF. For location, unless you like near the Commons, it’s rather inconvenient. Yea it’s near a T Stop, but I always hate being sweaty or post workout glow in public spaces so I would shower at this location. The men’s locker room was a decent size. I think the amount of lockers is low relative to its size but I did like the showers

DOESN'T ANSWER THE PHONE I got a foot injury and was told to stay off it for a bit. I have called several times to cancel and they keep letting the phone ring and then hanging up. Will be letting other people know the never come here.

BEWARE This company is completely FRAUD! Do not fall for their “promotional” rates. They have charged me over $200 INCORRECTLY when my membership was supposed to be at a promotional rate of $1/mo. They do not have a customer service number and their emails are non operating! You’re better off going to any other gym. DO NOT get a membership here!

I’m a Planet Fitness member and I refrain from attending this club because of the horrible reviews that it gets and the ridiculous responses from “management” on Google. Almost every bad review has the exact same complaint! Filthy club, unmotivated staff, and cold showers. What’s the “management”’s response every time one of these reviews surfaces? “Go talk to the manager at the club.” Does that make any sense? That a national corporation that has an online presence would get the same complaints for numerous CUSTOMERS and do nothing about the state of the club or staff? Shame on Planet Fitness and the folks running this particular branch. There are no other locations in downtown Boston and they are taking advantage of that situation.

Worst location in the city area. Staff overnight isn't friendly to backpackers. They will generalize instead of getting to know you. Showers and restrooms are nasty and get cleaned sometimes by the new staff (thanks new staff) By policy, there is no time limit you can be at a gym. I had to call police to escort me out one night because i was threatened to get my membership cancelled over a misunderstanding where my lock got cut up while i was working out and all my stuff was taken out when they thought i wasn't there but there are cameras to confirm. When i came up to front desk to ask why i was treated with 0 customer service. One of them was sleeping on the hydromassage chairs, unbelievable.

Do yourself a favor and and do not open a membership at this location. They are the absolute worst people to deal with and the gym is filthy. I have two PF memberships one here at Downtown Crossing in Boston which has been a nightmare since day one. I have tried closing it multiple times and I am still getting billed. When you call or walk in to try a get things cleared up no one will help you. Take my advice and stay clear of this location. My other membership allows me to go to any PF gym. I have never had a problem at any other location. To your reply (PF). I am happy to hear you want all your customers have nothing but a stellar experience. Because I will be going to the gym and to talk to Management for the Fourth Time!!!! to get this fixed!!!! I guess Stellar has different meaning to different people. Anyone who reads this do yourself a favor and do not join the Downtown Crossing Planet Fitness.

This gym needs more smith racks. If you plan on a smith rack it’s a 20 to 30 min line and keeps getting worse. There has been a new influx of gym seekers who will st on a smith rack for 30 min without care given for others patiently waiting. I am in search of a new gym. Maybe something around the 80 dollar a month range to rule out the 10$ a month planet fitness rude people.

Worst experience this morning with a young African American at the front desk. I go to tap my card and she gave me the rudest attitude. My wife had to use the restroom and because I had my own music on very low as I make music because I'm a musical artist she started to speak to me very unprofessional. I think it's wrong and she should be told about how to speak to your customer as I have a black card. She refused to speak correctly as I did not yell or cause a scene. It's 9:40 in the morning and she's on her phone at work as well.

Unable to cancel subscription online or over the phone, had to contact my bank after filing a dispute to block charges from them. I have never had to do something like that. The people working here are great, but I would recommend avoiding planet fitness in general because of these bad business practices.

Unfortunately not the best PF I visited. Equipment was outdated. It was functional but needed maintenance on several machines and curl bars and dumbbells. It was relatively clean. The weight room in the basement needs more ventilation. Overall it “works” but can do much better. I did not use the cardio equipment.

PF in Boston (downtown crossing) IS NOT open 24 hours. If you call them there's an automated message that says they are closed between 1:00 a.m. & 2:30 a.m... I signed up because I thought this was a 24 hour gym. Also waited additional 20 minutes for them to open back up. Smh... everything else was ok

Overall – I really like this gym for casual training and to stay in shape. Pros: - great price - convenient locations (right next to Boston Commons Park) - people in the gym are nice - wide array of equipment Cons: - hours have been updated as of January 1, 2021, and the gym now closes much to early for my liking. I'm really bummed about this hour change and hope they go back to being 24/7 very soon! I would raise my rating to 4 stars if the old hours came back - limited / no real free weights, besides dumb bells and curl bars. I would raise my rating another start if they had a full set of free weights for bench press, squat, dead lift, etc.

Edit: Sharp decline in cleanliness recently. Also, on more than a few occasions, I've had to wait around long after the 7:00am "opening" time for someone to show up and actually open the place. Unprofessional! This is my favorite Planet Fitness! It's got such a cool floor layout, it's very well maintained, and there is plenty of fresh equipment to go around.

Three floors of Planet Fitness in a very convenient location for anyone living or working in the area. A short walk to South Station if you commute can act a good cooldown. This location tends to be busy throughout the day with limited free-weight and Smith machine availability. Cable machines are also typically packed, but such is life. Staff is generally pleasant and the facility is kept clean.

For what it is, this gym is fine. I like that it's open 24 hours and I can go in the very early morning before work. The only thing I don't like is that in the past 2 weeks, the (maximum) men's shower temperature has gone way down. I realize they are doing this so they will save on heat and water usage this Winter, but the temperature is too cold.

Updated: the place was nice and clean and smelled good. Thanks!!!! Old review: The equipment is great and the staff are welcoming. For $12 month ($24 black card) the equipment they have is pretty good. But the cleaning of the place is bad. It’s pretty dirty most of the time. The floors aren’t mopped and the restrooms reek.

I travel a good deal for business so I have the black card membership so I can use Planet Fitness around the country. this club was dirty, the equipment was in disrepair it was very crowded. It sits on three different levels of the building so the club is very cramped. The most disappointing thing about this club compared to others I've been to around the country with the lack of cleanliness

Questionable professionalism at this club. I went today and could barely enter because staff members were playing with a ball and blocking the entrance. When I entered I almost got hit with a flying ball. This is not the experience I’m accustomed to whenever I visit Planet Fitness. Hoping this changes as this is the only one closest to me and makes it perfect to visit before going to work close by.

First of all the gym is trash and to cancel your subscription if you don’t come in person they expect you to send a letter. Why is a letter necessary in 2021 when they force to have credit cards and to download the app this gym is a joke!

  • 5/5 Ashley P. 2 years ago on Google
Left my phone in one of the lockers after a work-out and by the time I realized, someone else was using it with a lock on it! I let the staff know and they spoke to everyone in the gym asking if that was their locker/lock. They found the person, who graciously opened it up, and I got my phone out! Very diligent and professional staff, the customer service was Grade A 🔥they really went above and beyond

*disclaimer: following review written by amateur* Convenient location (right by Park St. and Downtown Crossing T stops); wide variety of good quality workout equipment, from strength to cardio; fellow gym-goers generally very kind, respectful and helpful; from my experience, facilities are generally quite clean; staff is friendly; signed up with the intention of getting fit (not doing any kind of [semi-]professional athletic training) and I couldn’t be much happier, especially given the relatively low cost.

  • 5/5 Christina L. 7 months ago on Google
I wouldn't really know I walked by it on the way to eat. But for real it's a very clean gym and everyone seems to be happy in there. I used to belong to them but I wasn't that serious so I will be back when I finally want to work out.

As a Black card member who’s travelled to multiple PFs in different states, this is by far one of the FILTHIEST toilet & bathroom locations, alongside multiple broken machines — repeatedly the same 6-8. Doesn’t even seem they’re bothering to fix a few of them (as it’s been weeks they’re not working). The tops and undersides of toilet always have dried feces on them and during peak hours, no one cleans it the entire 2hrs I’ll be at gym. Peak hours should be coming in ever 15-30 mins for spot cleanups, given how dirty it gets. I do see them do this on the gym floor — but not the bathrooms which need it. I see this as a repeat review for this location. They’ll do something to fix it once, but maintaining things is an issue. Even if you inform staff of specific issues some days — to prevent more problems — they just look and say they’re aware (then do nothing to fix it) — eg. clogged toilets. Making it worse when someone goes to flush. Fix the problem at the source & retrain + monitor your staff by reinforcing a system to do it. Half the time they’re chilling and doing nothing.

Very clean planet fitness, machines are up to date and staff is friendly. Overall one of the best planet fitness in boston.

  • 3/5 Jamie H. 2 years ago on Google
Convenient location close to the orange and green line. The quality of the gym depends on what type of workout you want. The cardio machines are in good working order and most of the weighted machines are in decent condition but there are some that have issues that need to be fixed and that hasn't happened in my 3 months of going here. The dumbells and benches are in decent condition. For the cable machines there is simply not enough handles available. It seems as though some have been lost or broken over time and never replaced. The worst part is the weight plates. They are all so worn out that they literally crumble in your hands and the rubber is peeling off of the metal inner plate. Please replace them!!! Also, the hand sanitizer is almost always out of stock which is frustrating especially in a pandemic. The bathrooms always smell terrible and if wafts out into the gym but I have found this typical of every planet fitness. They would benefit from an air freshener sprayer or something.

  • 1/5 Nicholas C. 2 years ago on Google
I come early every morning. Just beware they’re always out of hand sanitizer, hand soap and paper towels to clean the machines. Plus they do not force the mask policy. Update: The bathrooms are more disgusting than normal. Has been brought up to management and staff at the front desk on several occasions. They do not care or even try to clean. I don’t believe they’re ever cleaned. The strange thing is they have adequate amount of staff to clean. Just at this location other locations I have used are fairly clean. They still don’t enforce their mask policy. With this said I will be looking for a better gym. All I ask is for a clean one. This is not the place.

  • 1/5 Dave . 2 years ago on Google
This location is terrible. Equipment is always broken. Bathrooms are nasty all the time. The staff are nice and everything but the equipment needs to be replaced. Mask police are constantly on your back (more of a complaint about Boston mask mandate in general).

  • 5/5 J H. 2 years ago on Google
It's my first time coming back I was there at 3:30 in the morning I didn't have to wait for equipment and I didn't have to look at anyone else with my flabby dad bod so I was able to work out not for very long just a half hour would have been nice to have a trainer there I am asking for too much however Planet Fitness was great

Great location and setup right in the middle of downtown Boston! 3 stories with plenty of equipment and space to get your workout done with no issues. Good staff helped me get my guest signed in via the app with no issues!!

  • 1/5 Drew S. 10 months ago on Google
The dingiest of 6 different Planet Fitness gyms I’ve been to across the country. Nearly all the equipment needs maintenance or replacement. The rubber shell on the plates is crumbling off, the pleather on all the benches is cracked and flaking off, the dumbbells and EZ curl bars are all loose, the AC ducts drip water on the floor. On top of this, it seems no one here re-racks their weights. Not specific to this location, but PF in general has the most antiquated cancellation policy, presumably to make it so inconvenient to cancel that you just put it off. You have to visit your “home club” to sign a form in person, or literally mail a wet signature through USPS to cancel.

  • 2/5 Random S. 1 year ago on Google
As a previous worker of PF, we are 100% able to cancel your membership on the phone at any location, the reason they say “you have to go in person” is because people will forget and then PF will keep getting money from you.

  • 4/5 Linda L. 1 year ago on Google
Not bad for being in the city. It was reasonably clean and had all the equipment that most planet fitness locations have. It’s in a basement so it’s dark but what can you do? It’s the city. Located kind of near the State House and the Common. I’m happy I have a black card and that I can usually find a location anywhere I travel.

Plenty of exercise equipment. Good prices. It's crowded though and the changing rooms are dirty. The problem is that there are just a few employees to do the job for several more.

Scammed me out of over $970. I asked to have my membership cancelled in August 2019 and they have been charging me ever since I don't live anywhere close to Massachusetts anymore and I'm disabled. Might be looking into lawsuit options.

The downtown planet fitness is very clean. Every time I go there the staff is always busy cleaning, and they are very friendly as well... That's my go to gym when I'm in Boston, because I live in Norwood, so when I come to Dr appointments at Tufts I would stop there to get a workout in before heading home...

Having motivation, perseverance and effort capacity is essential so that your day to day in the gym is as efficient as possible and each time you are closer to achieving your goals. There are days when you will be less motivated than others, either for one thing or another, and receiving a phrase of encouragement can help you change the chip and face your training with the necessary enthusiasm

club is currently closed due to a busted pipe. website does not give any expectation on when it will reopen. if you’re like me and don’t pay to access other locations - the gym in cambridge will honor the membership. it’s a shame nobody at PF would let you know this though..

  • 5/5 Martha B. 1 year ago on Google
I like planet fitness and this is a super nice location with enough equipment for lots of people. The staff is nice and Robby/Bobby there was super helpful and knowledgeable to me when I joined (did it manually because the app was going to make me pay $30 up front even though the promotion said $1). I just wish the gym had sweat towels and wipes for the machines instead of paper towels and spray, but that's all planet fitness locations.

This was my first time going to a "24 hour "PF. I arrived 20 minute's before Monday began(Sunday:11:40am) my dumbaas apparently had too high of an expectation for PF staff.. I waited for over an hour! Going into Monday! I tried calling, double checking site hours, even the door says 24/FIVE. But as I went after work I waited and waited I tried being extra patient. NO ONE SHOWED UP. The doors were chained and locked. I'm writing this now(2am) in a damn uber because all the trains are down. Now I'm contemplating to cancel this membership I can't even get the bare minimum of a 24 hour PF as it's the only one in Boston . UPDATE** I got in touch with a staff member, and he clarified the hours for me, so I will be changing my review score.
