I
came
to
City
Line
five
years
ago
on
the
advice
of
my
physical
therapist
who
said
it
was
the
best
CrossFit
gym
in
the
area.
Now
that
I’m
here,
I
can’t
imagine
a
better
place!
If
you’re
a
beginner,
you
can’t
be
any
more
so
than
I
was:
the
kid
who
was
always
last
to
be
picked
in
gym
class
but
now
just
older!
I
had
only
run
to
keep
in
shape
and
hadn’t
recently.
I’m
here
to
assure
you
that
if
CFCL
coaches
could
bring
me
along,
they
can
coach
anyone!
Seriously,
CrossFit
may
have
a
reputation
as
intense,
but
what
I’ve
found
intense
here
–
beyond
the
friendly
welcome
-
is
an
emphasis
on
learning
how
to
exercise
with
proper
technique.
I
feel
safe.
The
coaches
are
excellent
at
teaching
how
to
lift
and
carry
out
gymnastic
moves.
Even
in
a
class
of
more
than
a
dozen,
they
watch
carefully
and
give
individual
advice.
I’ve
been
amazed
how
often
they
notice
something
and
have
just
the
piece
of
advice
that
allows
me
to
make
a
correction.
They
listen
to
my
questions,
encourage
me
to
listen
to
my
body
(something
new
for
me
and
important
since
it
recovers
more
slowly
now),
and
have
modifications
when
I
need
them.
If
you
are
a
seasoned
athlete,
rest
assured
you
will
have
plenty
of
company
doing
handstand
push-ups
and
lifting
a
barbell
that
bends
under
the
weight
you
put
on
it!
The
coaches
also
set
the
tone
for
building
real
community,
wherever
any
of
us
are
in
our
health
and
fitness
journey,
and
even
during
my
year
of
taking
the
Zoom
class
option.
Classmates
are
helpful
and
friendly!
At
first,
I
was
intimidated
by
the
top
athletes,
but
that
was
short-lived
because
they
reach
out
with
encouragement
just
as
often
as
anyone
else.
It
doesn’t
matter
that
I’m
lifting
less
or
getting
in
fewer
rounds,
I
feel
like
I
belong.
That
feeling
of
belonging
has
helped
me
come
in
and
work
my
hardest
at
each
WOD.
When
I
first
started,
the
warm-up
felt
like
a
workout
in
itself
…
I
have
loved
feeling
like
my
body
can
do
more
now
than
ever
before!
