If gentrification was a gym, it'd be Barry's. There was nothing special about the workout that warrants the price (I get it.. they take up prime real estate so their rents must be very high). The music was incredibly loud-I don't love having Justin Bieber blasted in my ears since there are like 8 speakers and all of them are next to the treadmills. Talking about treadmills--why am I paying someone to have me workout on the treadmill for half the class? Maybe accept less students per class, have them ALL workout on the ground, instead of switching back and forth between treadmill and bands/weights. This place sucks and clientele is pretend bougie.

I was bored with the gym and needed something fun, upbeat and yet still got me moving. Friend told me about Barry's and was hooked from the first session. Instructors are friendly, helpful and motivating - high-five as you enter and leave every class - and my favorite is Christina. It's an hour that flies by so quickly and you feel tired and good after each class. You can either split your time and do half treadmill and half floor exercises or spend the full hour on the floor using weights, bands and benches to work every muscle. I give each session a 10, but the locker room is small and overly crowded when one class is leaving and another starting - advice would be to come early to use the locker room when it's quiet and then stretch while you wait for your class.

I hope you are all doing well! I've been enjoying Barry's classes for over 5 years now, and my go-to location is downtown Boston. My friends and I frequently schedule "Barry's and Brunch" dates, so I just want to say how much we love your classes! Given that, I wanted to obtain some additional information on the state of Barry's downtown location. We (my Barry's diehards and I) have become accustomed to excellent services at Barry's -- whether we're considering the check-in experience or the quality of the classes themselves. If you'll indulge me, we were wondering about a few things: 1- When will all the showers (men's and women's) be in working order again? Many of us travel to Barry's from the outskirts of Boston, and the shower experience has been a key part of our Barry's experience. 2- We've also noticed there's been a shortage of some essential locker room materials (plastic bags, body wash in the showers, deodorant, etc). Is there a way to restock these things a bit more regularly? 3- My treadmill stopped working last class (tread 13), and at least one other treadmill almost stopped working in that class. Is there a plan to replace those anytime soon? Happy to adjust this review when there are adequate responses to these questions and concerns.

The best most efficient use of your time. Get in, run and lift for 50-60 minutes and leave drenched in sweat and feeling accomplished. Repeat as often as necessary to see real results. Caution: this is not for the faint-hearted so come willing to give it your all.

One of the best workouts in town. Not cheap but worth every penny. Only attempt if you are into sprinting and strobe lights!

This place is awesome. They offer a wide variety of different classes to tone different parts of your body, the classes are usually pretty packed with a lot of very motivated people, the instructors are really nice, the music is very on point, and the facilities there are nice.

One of the greatest locker room facilities of any Barry's I've been to.

All the teachers are great, Chris is the best. If you have knee problems you can ask to skip the treadmill sections and the teachers will customize something for you.

Definitely one of the toughest workouts I've done in a while. I found myself surrounded by a lot of very, very motivated people. Really high price point but one of the best workouts you'll find in Boston.

Good class. Compared to the UK studios, the changing room facilities were not the best. Limited room to change, lockers not working, 3 shower cubicles, & toilet not clean.

My experience at this studio was disappointing. I’ve been to Barry’s studios around the world, and this was probably the worst. Starting with the workout… unfortunately, it wasn’t energetic and challenging like I’ve come to expect. The instructor (Greg) didn’t have great flow, the music was so-so, and the studio was way too hot. The locker rooms also felt dated and were missing items I’ve come to expect in Barry’s locker rooms (i.e. blow dryers). I’m a big fan of Barry’s and make an effort to visit new studios when I’m in a new city, but I wouldn’t recommend this studio or instructor to a friend.

I come once a week or so. The instructors are great - they’re very welcoming to first timers and will walk you through the class. I know I was intimidated the first time since Barry’s has a cult following! Renovations were recently made to the front but the locker rooms still desperately need a touch up. Half the lockers are only on one hinge and 2/4 showers in the women’s locker room aren’t working. And one of them has the worst water pressure that I feel like makes me stay in there longer since I can’t get soap off of me!

The workouts are challenging but not worth the price. The music is still extremely loud, way beyond OSHA and NIOSH recommended levels. Gyms need to understand that extremely loud music does not equal more motivation, it equals hearing impairment! For the Butts & Legs session, I asked Garrett (the girl) to turn the volume down a notch. To my surprise she said I CAN'T. Told me to get some earplugs instead. What a way to please customers... try wearing earplugs while sweating like a pig, it's so uncomfortable an not hygienic.

Be warned: arrive with a large water bottle already full! This studio has no water bottle filler, so you have to ask staff to fill it for you behind the smoothie bar. It seems really odd that a luxury workout facility would not provide water for people to fill bottles, given the sweaty nature of the workout. Otherwise if you are extremely busy and don't want to think about your workout, this place is perfect. Show up a couple of times per week and you will get in great shape, as the workout includes strength training and cardio. It's great that you can "reserve" a spot in advance in case you want to be near a friend.

Horrible. Got injured from Olivia's class on 09/01. She was having the class do poor exercises: avoid her. Almost six weeks out, I still cannot workout and have provided medical documentation to this location's manager. All I asked for was a refund of the classes left on my monthly membership and my membership cancelled. Management said they would freeze my membership, but they did not do this: in fact, they did the opposite and charged me (without notice). Disappointing to not only get injured from Barry's, but also for this location's management to make things even more difficult.
