Kimura transformed my life. I've been there for 3 years now, my jiu-jitsu has NOT stopped advancing. I enjoy competing often, and all my training partners and coaches support this. I already lost track of how many gold medals I won, but I won them because of this school. This school has a solidified structure that is built upon a foundation of traditional jiu-jitsu principles. It's hard to find an Academy today that teaches the old school discipline, respect, and loyalty Kimura embeds in you. For anyone who wants to train jiu-jitsu I highly recommend Kimura, especially for beginners (the coaches will work extra with anyone new that is struggling).

My 10 year old son has been training at Kimura for nearly two years. We started him here on the recommendation of a co-worker. My wife and I were looking for a way to help build our son’s confidence with his peers and with life situations in general. The instructors are all amazing, but I can’t say enough about Marb, who strikes a terrific balance between building grit and discipline while providing comfort in challenging times. It has been amazing to see my son grow in so many ways over the last two years and I credit his time at Kimura as playing a major role. Kimura’s slogan is “Together as a Family” and believe me, they mean it.

My 9 yo son has been learning BJJ for a year now and his progress is impressive. The masters are patient and kind. They are amazing with kids all age, always supportive and encouraging. Kids learn respect in all aspects, of their master, their peers and the sport. They are not just teammates, but a family too. They support each other as they train together. He has gain strength in his core as well as balance and tenacity. We are very happy that was welcomed in the Kimura BJJ family!

was invited to drop in for a training session. from the beginning everyone was welcoming and came up and shook hands and introduced themselves. they did both a gi class and then after a no gi class which not all schools offer both. both classes gave time for open roll after technique which some schools don’t make as much time for so that was an awesome add on. the technique class was great. i liked that they seemed to start with the basics of a technique, allow drilling, then each time would add to the technique to make it a little more advanced. it was a good overall progression that left you with options in a scenario rather than a single very specific technique only. clean, friendly, well thought out teaching … in general a really good experience overall.

This Brazilian jujitsu club is a rare gem. The teachers are extremely dedicated, friendly and pedagogues, they are present every day with 3 classes per day and extra weekend sessions with open mat. The atmosphere is excellent there, like in a big family; you will find what you are looking for from amateur to competitive practice. It's a real pleasure to train there and I wish I had found sooner!!!!!

My co-worker found out I tried BJJ before I moved down for a new job, and he recommended Kimura to me. I am so glad he did! The community is warm and welcoming, the instructors are thorough and patient, and those at a higher level are always happy to help out those of us with less experience.

Professors Joey and Cormac are fantastic to learn from. Incredibly welcoming environment and a great place to train. I also really love the Judo classes they offer with Bill and Andrea. The NoGi classes with Pat and Lyle are also fantastic.

An excellent place to train! Kimura BJJ Boston has a large, clean facility, many excellent black belt instructors, and talented and friendly training partners. I'm a purple belt who travels a lot, and whenever I'm in Massachusetts I do my best to attend a class or two.

This is an amazing place to learn bjj! I came here with zero experience in wrestling and fell in love with it the first day, everyone here is great and wants you to succeed and pushes you to perform to the best of your ability. If you want to learn bjj I definitely recommend coming here.

My son and daughter, age 7 and 4, have been training at Kimura for the last 6 months and love it! The instructors are excellent and do a great job helping the kids develop the skills and self confidence needed to progress in the sport and everyday life. I’ve even started training here myself and love that we’re able to do this as a family. Highly recommend!!!

Started BJJ @Kimura together with my 13-year old son about 6 months ago. Amazing experience, the best instructors, welcoming and respectful atmosphere. Great mix of all ages, body types, and higher and lower belts. The first couple of weeks were tough (especially for Daddy ;-) but now both of us regret and feel bad every we time we have to skip a training. Highly recommended for all ages and the best work out you will ever get anywhere.

Clean, professional, outstanding environment. Kimura is the place to be if you're looking for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school that will help you learn the art, and grow as an individual. You'll find structured classes in a clean environment, where the instructors really care about your BJJ journey. This is a place where ego doesn't shine, humility is taught and valued, and is a great fit for all ages. I truly value my experience at Kimura. After years of training, numerous competitions, lifelong friends, a few injuries, I can say that this place has really helped me to better my life both on and off the mat.

I dropped in while I was in town for the month and the staff was amazing. They take the time to help each individual student based off of their needs. The classes are very informative and everyone there is very welcoming. If you are in the area and want to start jiu jitsu this is the place to go!

Writing as someone who as never trained in combat or even contact sports before. I spent my first month of BJJ training at Kimura in Watertown MA. I primary worry going into training BJJ was what was the learning atmosphere going to be like. Once I begin I quickly found Kimura to be a great place to learn. The black-belt instructors Joey Bell, Marbs, and Cormac are great. They clearly have there own games and different things to show you and they are approachable. I also found the community at Kimura to be great. A number of the purple and blue-belt student are down to earth and happy to train with you and help you develop. While the gym trains traditionally with belt hierarchy, I never felt looked down upon as a new white belt. I’m off to college in NY where I will train there but look forward to rejoining Kimura BJJ when I return to MA!

I came to Kimura with 0 knowledge of any martial arts and was welcomed with open arms. Joe, along with the other trainers, are highly knowledgeable, patient and motivating; everything you’d want when learning something brand new. The folks I trained with were friendly and willing to help if you want to put in the work. For sure no egos here but definitely a competitive spirit which I loved. It’s hard to imagine how much I’ve learned in 6 months (still a lot more to learn) but I highly recommend Kimura for whichever level of BJJ you’re at. Also, mats + gym is very clean!

😠 Good school. Horrible business model. They only accept year long contracts that are pretty expensive. So if you get hurt, have a tough work schedule, or don't continue for any reason, your screwed. They don't accept drop in classes as an option either. I got turned away with money in hand. It's sad...
