Americano Espresso Bar

Cafe Coffee shop

😠 The coffee is pretty good I will admit but the staff is ridiculously rude. Treating people like they’re less than them or dare I say, slow if you catch my drift, just because THEIR payment machine wasn’t working. I’ll just skip this place from this point forward. People often mention coffee, good, order, great, staff, time, kiosk, espresso, drinks, ordering,

Great coffee and sandwiches but the staff is super rude. I only keep coming back because it’s a convenient location and they have Barrington coffee on draft. Also can you just leave straws out? They are compostable and I don’t want to get attitude from the staff every time I ask for one.

Unwelcoming. This place might have good food and good drinks, but the atmosphere is so awful that I don’t think I’ll come back. Not only do they NOT take your order (they make you type it in on an iPad) you’re still expected to tip. And once you’re done ordering, there is not place to sit because they’ve chained the booth by the window closed (the only chairs). Yes, you read that correctly, they chained the only chairs in the place closed. This place needs to get a life.

I was in the area, happened to walk by this place and since I didn't have time for my morning coffee, decided to stop in on my way back. Not very big on the inside — enough space for an iPad kiosk to order and pay (which I appreciate given the times) and a few people to stand < 6ft between while waiting for their order. No indoor seating, but had a stand up area right outside the store, which was fine since it was a nice day out. They had a good variety of drinks and food to choose from. I got the hazelnut mocha with 2% milk and two extra shots of espresso. The taste was good, but it was on the pricey side for a medium iced. Also, I'm not sure what they did making it — whether they added everything at once or what — but they didn't sufficiently cool the espresso shots at the bottom, so it was cold at the top and very warm at the bottom where I was holding it.

Great coffee/ food I just really miss the old set up with table's and chairs. The touch screen pad is really annoying. And isn't easy to use. And it makes mistakes, like iced gets somehow confused with hot even if you've selected iced😒 I prefer to speak with a barista. Normal human interaction🗣️👤☕🥯

After the rigmarole of ordering on the poorly configured, yet mandatory kiosk, they ask for a tip! I felt like I should have been compensated for all the time it took to figure out the kiosk while staff stood around with cold, dead expressions. Decent coffee nonetheless.

The turkey pesto sandwich is delicious. I gave it 3 stars because everything is automated. All ordering takes place on a tablet. You only speak to employee if you want to pay cash or when they pass you your order. I was hoping for more of a community vibe where you actually talk to your barista. There are 2 steps to enter so not wheelchair accessible. Standing room only inside. A couple benches outside.

Their food and pastries are alright. Their espresso drinks are burnt and bad. I had high hopes for a place with “espresso” in the title. When I say espresso drinks, I mean cappuccinos, lattes, cortados. I don’t mean drinks with syrup pumped into them. Sugar will make anything taste good.

This was my first trip to East Boston since a teen. My turmeric latte thingie was delicious! The ingredients tasted authentic, nice and spicy and the espresso paired well with it. I love how many non-dairy drip options they have!

It’s good for the price! I wish they had a slightly bigger selection of coffee drinks and/or that you could make more changes. Since you can only order ahead via the site or on tablet in store you can’t add more than 2 espresso shots for example.

Love this place. The staff is great. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing.

The owner could be more guest forward as what would/should be a quick pick up took almost fifteen minutes. Guess they were growing the beans. The gentleman decided my little girl was a threat amidst outdated COVID rules. Seems like if you didn't know his dad or be one of the Townspeople ... he'll get to ya! Hospitality isn't a strong point. Sorry but my daughter isn't a problem because you have chain stantions in front of your seating areas. You know that two year old is patient "0"... Definitely diesnt have kids!!!

It’s a genius idea to have everything done through a kiosk because it allows easy complete customization of your food or drink item. I got a Nitro Cold Brew iced coffee with a bunch of customizations and a made to serve breakfast sandwich. Both tasted great.

Quick & well made coffee- their turmeric latte was perfect. Very happy that they carried soy as an option. Their ordering screen made it easy to consider all of their selections.

Food has always been DELIGHTFUL. Coffee has always been DELICIOUS. Service is routinely HORRIBLE. I wish service was better because it would definitely be a 5 star local gem!

Got to meet the owner of this joint. And he’s a great guy. Place is clean. Super clean. Customer friendly. Easy to order with self order and humans! I got a bacon, egg, and cheese. And it was really good. Nothing to complain about. Flawless place as of my first visit. I’ll be sure to update this on future visits.

They're coffee is what I consider top tier from a coffee shop. They're not shy of they're portions and prices are adequate.

Coffee was good. Cinnamon coffee cake muffin was good. Blueberry muffin was not good.

Coffee is good, food has no flavor and was a waste of money. Workers in the place also not very happy about being there.

I personally love this place and have been going for years. Breakfast sandwiches and iced coffees are awesome, online ordering thru toast is super easy, and while the location is small without seating that is what you get in this neighborhood. When the weather is fair you can stand outside or just go out into the ‘hood and find a bench. Lots of crybaby reviews saying the staff are rude… to that I say this is Boston, get your coffee and go about your business. If you need a warm smile and a pointless conversation with your purchases, move. If you need help using the kiosk, advocate for yourself and ask for help, don’t leave a 1-star review pouting over how everything wasn’t delivered to you on a silver platter by a unicorn and harm a great business. For what it is- a coffee shop- I personally think it has great breakfast sammies (bacon egg and cheddar on asiago bagel is my fave) and great coffee, fast service and fair prices. Its always busy yet it never takes long to get your order. I am happy to see this place doing well and will continue to eat/drink here regularly- if you are in eastie you should check it out! It should be 4.7 stars+, IMO!

Terrible bad service!! I whent for 1st time and respectfully ask for help to place my order and one of the latina’s girls, just told me, machines are there, I didn’t know it’s was by the computer. They never help me. Food was ok… better DD

Ordering was smooth using a tablet but the amount of choices was slightly overwhelming. The bagel was great while the coffee was distinctly average. There was no seating inside unfortunately.

Unwelcoming taken to the next level. My brother and I stopped for coffee, I needed a spoon and the barista there looked at me in a rude way, asked me if it was for something I had purchased there and proceeded to charge me 10 cents for it. And of course is not about the 10 cents. Just a completely unnecessary display of rudeness. Never coming back and not recommending ever. Ok top of that they burned the milk on the latte, twice.

I have to come here every time I make a trip to East Boston. This is great coffee and great bagels. The service is always excellent! If you’re in a hurry order online pick it up you will not be disappointed.

This coffee shop is super cold and unwelcoming. The breakfast sandwiches are pretty good, but the coffee tends to be burned/overpriced. The customer service tends to be openly antagonistic, and they've charged me $0.25 for a beverage holder on a $30+ order that I was picking up for a friend in the middle of winter. Save your money and go to any other local coffee shop.

I ordered on the kiosk they have and selected the “pay cashier” option because I didn’t have my cards on me. It said to wait for someone to help me yet no one came. 2 other people payed with card on the kiosk and got their orders in a timely manner. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I saw them preparing online orders, but one girl in the back asked if I ordered yet, to which I said yes, and was then helped. Probably waited a good 10 to realize my order never went through. Not the best customer service. Chai latte tasted a little burnt and the flavor itself wasn’t strong enough. It was too expensive for such an experience.

So happy for a local coffee shop that is open during COVID-19. Fantastic breakfast sandwiches and decent price. My only complaint is the coffee tastes a little burnt every time. Not enough to stop ordering it, but enough to notice it each time. If they would tweak that, I’d eat here every morning. All the haters complaining about no WiFi, go to Starbucks then. It’s nice to have spaces where people aren’t sitting at their laptops for hours. I’ve been using Toast to order my food for pickup. It’s always ready as soon as I get there. Thanks to the staff who are working during all of this to help out those of us who do still go into work.
